1. Scarface is a 1983 film starring Al Pacino as "Scarface"
The title sequence does not follow the ordinary of having the lead characters featured in
the opening titles. Although Scarface is a fictional character it based on when Castro let

Music
The music to the opening sequence is 80s Dance Music played over the top of the real life
footage. To create the tone for the film as it about a man โScarfaceโ living a luxurious
lifestyle who can afford to go nightclubbing.
Titles
The title font is a black background with red italics. Red and Black are used because it has
connotations of danger and blood.
The opening credits are played in between the
footage, the lead roles and pivotal roles in making the

the viewer an understanding of the back story and also to
make it seem that Scarface would have been aboard one of

At the end of the sequence it shows that the Cubans have
arrived in the US. It shows the iconic USA flag. After this the
lesser roles are documented quite quickly. Then back into the
big roles for example the last caption is the โdirectorโ shown
at 3.25.
3. Mis-en-scene
The mis-en-scene of the film is fairly dark as it is about Cuban Immigrant โTony
Montannaโ becoming a successful crime lord. It has contrasting colours of dark and grainy
footage but sunlight of US representing a new start and a better life.
The camera angles and editing are fairly basic as it is real life footage being enhanced into
the opening titles. There is no big shots, stunts etc..
The genre of the film is a gangster thriller with elements of dark comedy.
