The document discusses plans for a student film called Withdrawn. It will be rated R16 and appeal to 15-18 year olds. The plot involves a man who wakes up bloodied and bruised in an abandoned shack and is interrogated by thugs before waking in a different country with no memory of how he got there. Filming will take place over school holidays in Auckland and Bali. The film will utilize diegetic sound, dialogue, low key lighting, quick cuts, shadows, tense music, and changing shot angles. Safety precautions will be taken when filming involves hazards.
2. Withdrawn, we have called our film Withdrawn as our
narrative calls for a person to be kidnapped, taken
and removed from the circulation of the world. We
thought this was a suitable title as the description of
withdrawn is: removed from circulation, contact,
competition, etc.

5. A guy wakes up in an abandoned shack bloodied and
bruised, then gets interrogated by thugs about things
he doesn’t know about. His memory is hazy and he
starts to get brief flash backs of what happened
before (going about his usual day, and going out with
friends). Confused as to why he’s there the thugs
beat him up until he’s unconscious when he wakes up
the thugs are gone and his hands are untied. He finds
his way outside and finds that he is in a different
country (Bali).

CHARACTERS AND NAMES
7. Filming will be able to take place in the Easter holidays in both
Auckland (as that is where the group lives) and I (Jacob) will be
in Bali in the second week of the holidays.
For actors everyone in the group will act and if we need any
extra actors or actresses we can look to friends and/or family.
All locations will be planned and checked out before we film so
we know out locations well and how to film in them. When it
comes to Bali I will research possible locations online then the
see what are best and film in them when I get there.
PRACTICALITIES OF
FILMING/CONTENT
8. Problem Solution
The weather conditions for our
opening requires it to be overcast
and dark.
We will look at the weather forecast
and plan specific days for shooting.
Shooting in an old warehouse will
trigger hay fever and asthma for
some of us.
For those in the group that require it
it we will have hay fever tablets and
an inhaler.
Most shooting will be in the in the
holidays so traffic will be higher and
more congested
Public transport could be used to
some extent and we can shoot on
off peak weekdays.
Our Mise En Scene for our opening
requires broken glass which is
potentially dangerous.
When dealing with broken glass we
will be sure to wear proper
footwear and gloves.
