Problem Statement
A professionally qualified,
results driven social
entrepreneur passionate
about education, and girls
welfare needs a way to
ensure selection of
qualified girl students in
the corporate workplace
because a financially
independent women is an
asset to the family and in
case of any unforeseen
circumstances or tragedy
she will be able to be a
pillar of support
Building Skills Ideas (Prototype I)
 Girls to practice Aptitude tests
 Schools should start introducing the students to different
competitive tests
 Prepare the girls in facing interviews
 Conduct regular English classes
 Girls to participate in various debates
 Involve the girls in building community projects
 Mock interviews to build confidence
 Conduct classes during Vacations
 Motivate the girls to speak up
 Teach them communication skills
 Industry Collaboration Ideas (Prototype II)
 Industry requirements, Job descriptions
 Invite professionals to mentor few students
 Current skill demand
 Prepare skill sets as per job needs
 Include compulsory internship for a quarter each year
of undergraduate study
 Company visits
 Seminars, Job Shows
 Par-time work to learn the trade
 Motivation, communication
Practical Idea - Building work place skills of students
Description:
 The Schools should coach 12th grade students in English and Communication skills.
 Students who have completed their 12th grade exams are eligible for attending these classes.
 It is mandatory for every school to run these courses. The duration of these courses would be
the vacation time period between 12th grade final exams and start of university classes.
 Students who complete the course successfully will be awarded completion certificates and
this will be considered for getting admission for undergrad studies. This ensures the students
have a basic knowledge of English and communication skills. The university can build on
these skills of the students.
 Mandatory to attend regular English and Communications training during undergrad studies.
Grading on the basis of class participation, debates, interaction with professors, classmates.
 Students who do not speak in English inside the campus to be fined
 A passing grade is necessary for the girls to be promoted to the next year of college.
 Colleges within 100 mile radius to form a group and conduct workshops, debates, inter
college competitions to build confidence among the girl students
 Compulsory for every girl student to participate in debates at least once in a quarter
 Colleges to conduct seminars on women empowerment, inviting women achievers twice a
year
 Students to conduct classes in a different college every quarter for the first 2 years
 Students to form groups and prepare common interview questions and conduct interviews for
each member of the group. The assessment is based on certain criteria defined by the
professor. Gaps are noted down and the students are encouraged to overcome the gaps
 Final year students who have undergone campus interviews to share their experience with the
juniors
Favorite Idea - Collaboration with Industry
Description:
 Colleges within 100 mile radius to form a group and share responsibilities in collaborating
with businesses from the industry
 Each college prepares a list of companies and distributes the list to the student groups
 Each student group does a research on the companies and prepares a power point presentation
listing out the core competencies and skills necessary for working in these companies
 The students are free to discuss with their contacts, families etc to get more information on
these companies and if possible get a direct contact with whom they can interact
 These presentations are sent to the HR of the respective companies for further inputs. This is
for the companies who have agreed to be part of college-industry collaboration towards
women empowerment
 The HR with their in-house training department would check the listed skills and update the
list where necessary and send it back to the colleges
 The company HR will also provide a broad outline of the trainings that can be conducted to
improve the skill set of the students in making the student to work place transition smooth
 Based on these inputs the university/college will conduct the trainings and assess the students
every six months and these results will be sent to the companies so that they can give their
feedback on the initiative and bridge the gaps
 Final year students who have undergone campus interviews to share their experience with the
juniors
 Conduct mock interviews
 Compulsory internship training for 3rd year students with the company
 Companies could give assignments to the students to be completed during weekends
 Students will have industry visits every quarter and present a write up on the work place
culture as observed during the visit
 These initiatives will help the students to face the interview and get placed in a company
