Finding Paid Internships and Career Guidance for Recent Graduates

  • 1. problem needs a way to because a twenty-something, motivated, graduated student actively developing networking opportunities and professional experience and guidance transfer her education into aggressive challenges and opportunities right out of school the connections have been made, skills have been developed, basic principles of working have already been covered, and the future of life is not yet getting in the way
  • 2. problem _paid internship opportunities _teach students to gather multiple recommendations _teach students how to take initiative/gather own mentors  hire professors who can mentor/know mentors _teach entrepenuership _find incentives for employers to value Bachelor’s _cost of degree comparable to earning potential _increase trade schools to fill entry level/non-degree positions _WPA style programs _reinvest in infrastructure to create jobs _it’s okay to ask for help _decrease cost of school/student debt _teach analytic/strategic skills before college _fix the economy _value mindset of change/failure/opportunity _redefine job opportunities for design degrees _for creative degrees  provide start up grants to graduates  create/nurture in-school startups  create/nurture real jobs for students in-school  mentors/rec’s create job pool  expand school job pools for all degrees  incentives for employers to value Master’s  teachers value students entering careers outside of academics  students take 2-year employment following in-school job opportunity  does degree define your job?  what jobs does a degree lead to?  get real skills/transferable skills in school  inform employers of skills learned in school training  support youthful perspective/youth ingenuity  teachers have real-world access to careers outside of academincs  teach real-world scenarios alongside academic theory  employers invest in students tuition  invest in student job training  employer created sholarships  employers invest into course materials and teaching course are taught by professionals/share real-world insight teach students business skills dual degree programs  train/guide students on multiple career options for degree  informs/train employers on skillset each degree trains students for  liberal arts degress require pragmattic program/applicable skills  redefine infrastructure to include tech/innovation  invest in/value creatives
