We have all been taught that one must work for what is desired. We start learning at a young age if
one does something for someone else, typically a form of pay would be returned. The pay one had
earned would range from candy to money, depending on the type and the amount of work that was
completed. Then, when one is essentially sixteen years of age, he or she would be able to obtain a
job in fast food as a crew member. This new fast food job is glamorous to the sixteen–year–old;
however, it is not seen as an advanced career opportunity. Nevertheless, Fast food employees
believe they are entitled to a higher wage than state minimum wage. The crew members in fast–food

$31,200 annually full time. As a crew member at McDonald?s, one would need to have customer
service and a smile. Another point stated on the McDonald?s web site is, ?People who wish to enter
our management programms need either a degree, or relevant work experience? (McDonald).
Therefore, they may or may not require any education. In the quote stated above, you may notice
programs spelled ?programms?. This misspelling proves how uneducated fast food employees
actually are, but they want to be paid more than those in a vital position of society that obtain an
education. Fast food employees have some valid points on why they are demanding this higher
wage. International Business Times states, ?Many McDonald?s cooks and cashiers make wages that
put them at or below the poverty line, and many say they cannot support their families at the rates
offered by McDonald?s–owned locations and franchisees? stores? (Morris). However, there are
options available to rise above and excel in a better, more achieving career. Working as a crew
member in fast food is not a career, it is an opportunity to make some money when you are finishing

The fast food industry came about quite some time ago in the 1900's. McDonalds is the largest fast
food chain in the world and started it all before any other quick service restaurant. The McDonald
brothers opened their fast food chain in 1948 and they had several chains soon after. KFC was
already a restaurant in the United States, but after McDonalds changed the fast food industry KFC
started to adapt its style and speedy cooking techniques and changed its ways along with many other
places catching onto the trend. The quick service industry that has been around for nearly 100 years
now is still in the growing stage of its lifecycle. The business style has added new restaurants that
are apart of serving food to people on the run, incorporating the drive–through and changing the
menu to be healthier over the years. The quick service industry is always open and serves it
customers at all hours of the day, no matter what time of the year. There are many places that have

salted golden French fries inside a white cup. This advertisement invokes hunger for unhealthy and
cheap fast food to consumers. The fast food industries false advertisements, unhealthy food, and
long term effects of consuming fast food all lead to the causes and effects of adulthood obesity in
the lives of thousands of Americans today. McDonalds, Burger King, Wendy's, and other fast food
industries have manipulative and deceiving false advertisements that take advantage of the public.

has made larger proportions to meet the growing demand. The industry thrives off of competition,
and is constantly trying to one up each other. Places like Wendy's, Burger King, McDonald's, and

meal deals has influenced more people to dine out. According to University Hospitals, 44% of

A predicted quarter to one third of all TV adverts in the US are related to food. 90% of these are

I believe that some people have this view because fast food outlets usually consist of fatty foods.
This means that people who don't have much time or money can easily go out and buy food for
themselves and their children. Studies show that New Zealand fast food consumption was an
estimated 2–3 kgs per person per year. Studies also show that nearly $2000 is spent on fast foods
every year. In Cambridge alone there are multiple fast food outlets. These include KFC, McDonalds,
Dominoes, Pizza hut etc. because these foods are extremely high in fats when they are a consumed
they cause people to gain wait. If you eat these foods once a week they will not really harm you but
if you eat it regularly and do no exercise often you will become obese. This is the problem that is

giving consumers that satisfying, full feeling. According to the FDA, cellulose consumption by
humans, regardless of the amount, has "no effect other than providing dietary bulk, reducing
nutritive value of such food stuffs and possibly exerting a laxative effect" (FDA). Many abusers of

We start learning at a young age if one does something for someone else, typically a form of pay would be returned. The pay one had earned would range from candy to money, depending on the type and the amount of work that was completed. Then, when one is essentially sixteen years of age, he or she would be able to obtain a job in fast food as a crew member. This new fast food job is glamorous to the sixteen–year–old; however, it is not seen as an advanced career opportunity.
