I loved the original Japanese anime film, but sine Scarlett Johansson is white and not asian like in the film, people started freaking out. To be clear,
her character is a robot, not a human. So I don't really care as much as other people since she actually looks the part. I would cast her in the film
without thinking of the white–washing since she really looks like the character she plays. Plus she killed it in the movie Lucy, so I knew show could
handle to role with ease.
Original Premise: In 2029, the world is interconnected by a vast electronic network that permeates every aspect of life. Much of humanity has access to
this network through cybernetic bodies, or "shells", which possess their consciousness and can give them superhuman abilities.
What I think will happen is a lot of pervs will complain that she won't be naked most of the time. In the original, she is super naked, but I don't think
they will go that route in this film. If you want to see that, go watch her in Under The Skin. That is basically Scarlett naked for the entire movie.

About three years ago, when my sister suggested that I begin watching Gilmore Girls, I immediately said yes. Having heard nothing about the
show other than its name, I was completely basing my decision off how much I have enjoyed other shows that my sister has presented to me.
Growing up with a sister eleven years older than me, I feel that I belong in her generation more than with my own. When most of her favorite shows
were on air, I was too young to care or be interested in watching. However, thanks to the world we live in and the technology it provides, shows such

causing Rory to be late and unable to take the exam. Other scenarios include Rory going to a new school, all of Lorelai's nice clothes being dirty

Stereotypical Images of African–Americans on Television Sitcoms
The more television changes, the more it stays the same for the genre of African American sitcoms. Some critics believe that African Americans will
never accept the images they see of themselves on network television. Like whites, African Americans on television sitcoms should be portrayed "in the
full array of cultures that exist in our society." Most likely, the majority of white television viewers see a sitcom as no more than 22 minutes of
broadcast time and eight minutes of commercial intertwined with a laugh track. Nothing serious. But look deeper. For African Americans, sitcoms have
long been hotbeds of racial stereotypes disguised as entertainment. Put ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A prime example of this was exhibited during television's early days when "Amos 'n' Andy" aired. In the '50s. The sitcom was based on a "conniving,
grammatically impaired" group of African Americans living in Harlem.
It was the advent of the Civil Rights era that initially brought about some progress with the creation of trend–bucking characters like Diahann Carroll in
"Julia" and Bill Cosby, who parlayed his success in the drama "I Spy" into the first of his own comedy series in the late '60s. In the '70s, "Good
Times" and "The Jeffersons" paved the way toward Cosby's most successful endeavor in the '80s meant to set the tone for future advancement.
Although, throughout the '90s to the present, there have been an increasing number of African American sitcoms in syndication and several actors in
high profile parts on network hits.
So why is there still such a fuss?
4.
Because there are few choices. African American sitcoms may be better produced and the actors charismatic and attractive, but the old mind set lurks
beneath. White Americans have a choice. They can change the channel and find shows that represent them in a non–humiliating manner. African
Americans have few choices. Critics have noted that even if a cast is all African American, 75 percent of the writers for the shows are white. Until

I've only been on BET'S The Game most recently, I was on the CW's The Game. So for three seasons it was CW's. My experience there was
incredible. Learning, working, and watching Mara Akil find the success she has found, already being successful with Girlfriends, but creating another
hit show that went straight to air, that gives somebody a little bit of power. Then watching her struggle because the CW really didn'twant the show.

power couple it's very inspiring. Then when it got canceled I went off to do Bolden which took a long time so when BET picked up The Game I
wasn't around. I didn't get to work on BET until recently. Working on it now versus then is incredible because they have sort of cart blanche. They can

11. TV Ad Prices: Article Analysis
Advertisers have to worry about getting a good bang for their buck when it comes to paying for television screen time. Brian Steinberg, senior TV
editor at Variety writes about rising prices of upfront advertisements in the article "TV Ad Prices: Football Hikes, 'Walking Dead' Stumbles, 'Chicago
Fire,' 'Goldbergs' on the Rise." Upfront advertisements refer to 30–second spots that are purchased in advance on a particular network during a
particular show. Generally, commercial prices reflect viewing habits obtained by recorded data so that a more popular show will be more expensive
than a less popular show. Because of their centrality to the American home life and high viewership, football games are the most costly commercial
space. For the 2016/2017 football season, the price of a 30–second ad for Thursday Night Football on CBS has increased by almost 15% to be
$529,989. This increase, however, has a negative correlation with the number of people watching football on CBS. The article states that this
particular season, factors like the focus on the presidential election and the wider availability of football on various networks can account for a decline
in viewership. It is important for advertisers to focus on the numbers they will be reaching when it comes to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

17. Racial Stereotypes
Historically, African Americans were restricted from appearing in films, instead they were portrayed by white actors and actresses who employed a
technique known as blackface by painting their skin to appear darker (Brown, Horton and Price 1999). Documentaries like The 13th illustrate how the
depiction African Americans as stupid, aggressive, lazy, and inferior (in species) led to increased racism in theUnited States for decades, making it
difficult for African Americans to acquire civil rights benefits (DuVarney, Averick and Barish 2017). The Film Birth of a Nation (1915) was one of
several films that used white actors (in blackface) to portray African Americans as dangerous criminals with animalistic features and led to the
development of segregation and Jim Crow laws (DuVarney, Averick, Barish 2016). Times have changed since 1915, today African Americans and
Latinos can be seen in television shows and movies. However, according to the documentary, 13th, representation is not the only thing that matters, it is
the portrayal of racial groups that is particularly important. The documentary notes that certain portrayals of African Americans and Latinos in visual

President Bill Clinton created the Telecommunications Act of 1996 to promote fair competition in the United States telecommunications market.
President Clinton's goal was to establish an open market so that any business can compete in the telecommunications field. Since the creation of the
Telecommunications Act, there has been a bevy of radio andtelevision mergers. One can safely say that with all the recent mergers, some companies

The Act will prevent a single broadcast group owner from dominating the national media market (The American Presidency Project, 2016)." The
problem with this statement is that in today's society this is not true. Currently, 90 percent of the media is owned by just six companies: Viacom,
News Corporation, CBS, Comcast, Disney, and Time Warner (Corcoran, 2016). These six companies shape global political views and cover
Presidential elections in America. AT&T whom which currently owns Directv has now purchased Time Warner Inc. (De la Merced, 2016). This
purchase is still pending approval from the Federal Communications Commission and the United States Department of Justice (James, 2017). AT&T
would own HBO, Cartoon Network, Boomerang, Turner Classic Movies, TNT, TBS, Tru TV, SNY, Peachtree TV, and The CW. AT&T would sell
cable service and own cable content. The interesting thing about AT&T is that they were the sole provider of telephone service in the United States. An
anti–trust lawsuit broke up the Bell system phone companies to relinquish the monopoly that AT&T had on phone service (New America, 2010).

Arguably the most significantly used Christian element in Supernatural is angels. Although angels are known to be powerful and judging, in the show

word of my lord the king secure my inheritance, for my lord the king is like an angel of God in discerning good and evil. May the LORD your God be

on several occasions. Angels are not seen as divine and loving servants, but as dogs of the military. It should also be considered that God is not calling
the shots with these orders. The angels are working together collectively independent of God. God has been missing for quite some time and the angels
have taken matters into their own hands. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

/70212635?trackId=200257859. In season 3, episode 17 of Gossip Girl the female character Blair is displayed as a sexual object. Both Blair and
her boyfriend, Chuck are facing a difficult decision on how to save Chuck's hotel empire from his uncle Jack. Blair's love for Chuck is shown
when she negotiates with Jack saying she'll have sex with him in exchange for the empire which Jack gladly accepts. However, when the day
Blair is going to have sex with Jack arrives, he stops her and notifies Blair that before she even had made her decision, Chuck had already traded
Blair for the empire. This episode was intended for the teen girls because most girls love drama and enjoy shows that contain a climatic storyline.
Unfortunately, people are not aware how poorly Blair is portrayed because she is being exhibited as an object and a prize Jack wanted. This
episode is very intriguing for the young audience because its plot keeps the viewers to watch the other episodes to see what will happened with
Chuck and Blair. For some people it may be uncomfortable for certain audience to see how Blair just gives up her body like if she is an object, but
girls do not notice this rather they enjoy the show because it is entertaining. The role of Blair connects to the thesis of the research because Blair is
displayed as if she was an object and

27. Media Impact On Entertainment
The media is one of the biggest focal points of contemporary America's daily life and America is both blind and naive when it comes to media, but not
in the sense that Americans don't know how to understand media, but separates itself from the reality of this fictitious medium. In Bill Moyers' Free
Speech For Sale, proof arises that media controls more than what most people think. Even though there is proof of media tampering and being overall
very deceitful, most Americans decide to detach themselves from the reality of the situation. But entertainment isn't the only thing that's being
manipulated to conform to the ideal message: actors and other public presences are filtered and this is seen in Marshall Mcluhan's Amusing Ourselves
To Death. Even though media is very dishonorable, it still is astonishing because of the advancements in technology that is seen in the media today.
Media has become the ruler of our entertainment. The dictionary describes media as the system and organizations of communication through which
information is spread to a large number of people (Webster). But media is so much more than that. Now, it's a type of communication that focuses on
bringing to people what really matters... Kylie Jenner's pregnancy and the imprisonment of Miles Teller. Now this might be important to the celebrities
that are actually experiencing it, but does it really matter to you? Well, the big media corporations think you should care so they're going to make you
care. That's

Binge Watching: Good or Bad?
Binge watching also referred to as binge–viewing or marathon–viewing is watching television or a single television show for a long time span. It has
become a very popular cultural phenomenon because of the online media services such as Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon video. Viewers can also watch
television shows and movies on–demand in a binge–viewing manner with cable and satellite services such as Time WarnerCable, Dish Network, and
DirecTV. Movie apps and Amazon Fire TV stick also make binge watching adaptable. These companies offer their patrons their services at very
affordable prices and therefore making it that much more convenient. Entire seasons of shows such as Orange Is the New Black and House of Cards are
just two of the many shows viewers can indulge in. Other shows that are shown on television and not released at the same time, such as Breaking Bad
and Undercover Boss can be found on Netflix and encourages binge watching. Binge watching has changed the relationship between the series and its
audience in many different ways such as giving the viewer total control to choose when and where and for how long he or she wants to view the show.
Today's audience is very diverse. A typical day can include preparing your family for school and work, working a full time job, preparing your family

For most shows, the LGBTQ characters either a) get written off, or b) fall into heteronormative gender ideals. When a writer does decide to add a
queer character seen beyond the use of the "one time experiment" episode, these queer storylines that end up formulaic and lacking substance (Kessler,
p.1). These queer characters are usually depicted as either Lesbian or Gay, thus leaving the Bisexual and Transgender characters much harder to come
by. In most situations characters and audiences react to bisexual characters just as Erica Hahn did with Callie in season 5 when she said, "you can't

Instead of being the sexually deviant bisexual character that is usually portrayed on television shows, she is the realistic monogamous,

allowed for Grey's Anatomy to open its audience's eyes to a whole new take on queer characters. The fans and critics on After Ellen held an interview
with one of the writers of Callie's bisexual storyline and their response was that, "The story line offered both the drama Grey's is known for and –
despite some marginally exploitative threesome talk – a truthfulness network television has rarely achieved when it comes to lesbian relationship"
(AFTER ELLEN Behind). Not only that, but Callie Torres' character has given LGBTQ–identifying people a flicker of hope for a character on TV to

Blood Lust Fact or fiction? For centuries there has been talk but no one has yet to prove that vampires exist. The Vampire Diaries is a series based
on novels about supernatural creatures as though it was reality, this series was launched in 2006 by the CW network. This supernatural drama has
grasped its viewers and has grown in popularity making it one of the most sought after series. This heart pounding action packed show is now in its
seventh season and after losing one of its main characters in season six, The VampireDiaries has not skipped a beat with their ever so exuberant tails.
The Vampire Diariesis by far my favorite television series to date because of its post–feminism, erotic love triangle, and the plot is tied with the
ongoing mystery of the supernatural creature. Without a doubt this show is directed towards women viewers, not only with its exceedingly handsome
actors, but with its insatiable story line. The Vampire Diaries is post–feminist and the network is notoriously known to target young to middle aged
women for a majority of their television series. The CW network mentions that it prides itself on being "the only network targeting women aged 18–34"
(cw.com). Generating slogans that are specific for this demographic such as "Free To Be" and "TV Now" have helped intrigue that specific audience.

Many mothers plan their children and are overjoyed when they discover they are with child; others are surprised, and perhaps not as pleased.
However, not many can say they became pregnant when they have never had sex. Jane the Virgin is a CW network television program about Jane
Villanueva, a religious young woman who has never had sexual intercourse but becomes pregnant by an accidental artificial insemination. Due to the
nature of the main character's situation, the topic of sex, virginity, and conception is often discussed, as well as what it means to be a virgin. Although

The first time Jane has sex, she is displeased and does not quite enjoy it. Later on in the episode, Michael asks what he can do to improve the
experience for, and asked if she enjoyed the "other things," they did before marriage; Jane says yes and Michael asks if she would like to try those
"other things" again, to which Jane once more agrees. Jane and Michael then engage in oral sex. This scene shows the viewer that perhaps Jane is
not as stout a Catholic as previously thought, and that Jane views the loss of virginity not as the engagement of any sexual activity, but when a
person has penetrative sex; since she and Michael are a heterosexual, male and female couple, this means that true sex to her is only when a penis
is inserted into her vagina. This fits the older, more specific Christian belief that a woman is no longer a virgin if she does not have a hymen,
something that can be lost in penetrative sex, but this point in the television show, she is a mother to her young son, Mateo; she gave birth to Mateo
vaginally, so if she did still have a hymen, it would no longer be intact. Jane has previously engaged in sexual activity and no longer has a physically
intact hymen, but she is still a virgin because she considers herself a virgin, something the show is unique in

1.The most important challenges for a new television network include advertising, settling on a target demographic, building a distribution system, and
market the new brand. With the case of CW, dividing the responsibilities between the former WB and former UPN networks was also a major
challenge, in addition to deciding which shows from each network would continue. Distribution is the primary concern, as it's important for the
network, especially a new one, to reach as much of the country as possible. Finding affiliate stations and distributors was crucial for the CW to start off
successfully. Fortunately for them, they were able to secure many of the former UPN and WB stations and distributors and broadcast to 95% of the

Everwood, although having a bit of an older audience than the others, had a large, loyal fan base to build on. The show also received high critical
acclaim, allowing for a strong possibility of increasing the number of new viewers. Veronica Mars also had a loyal fan base, albeit somewhat
smaller, exemplified by the fan that paid to have an airplane circle the CEO's office, pleading to keep the show on air. The show also fit with the target
demographic of females between 18–34 years old. 7th Heaven, being the network's longest running show, was also the longest–running family drama in
history. While the show was quite expensive to produce, there were available cuts that could be made to keep the show's cost on par with the other three.
4.First, Veronica Mars would be placed after Gilmore Girls on Tuesdays due to the similar viewers and also the similarity of the protagonists of the
shows. Everwood would be shown on Mondays before Runaway. I think it makes sense to put a well–regarded show like Everwood, which has a
strong fan base, before the new show. This would allow viewers to try a new show and continue watching. 7th Heaven, a very established show, would

It is not a surprise that television media affects adolescents. There are several programs geared toward young people that give a negative view on
what it is like to be a teenager/emerging adult. These shows are geared toward a younger audience, but have more mature content that is not suitable
for children under a certain age. Some of these shows deal with teen pregnancies, drug use, and relational issues – all of which are important to talk
about – but the manner in which they are shown, is not suitable for a younger audience. I chose to review the show Gossip Girl. Originally a book by
Cecily von Ziegesar the show came to prime–time television airing on The CW television network in 2007. But, since the end of the show in 2012,
Gossip Girl has been put on Netflix. This 45–minute–long show depicts the lives of teens living in the Upper East Side of New York City. The episode
