3. Research Areas:-
Project: - Design & Mathematical Modeling of Energy Efficient Houses for colder,
high altitude places:-
A zero energy building or net zero energy building is a general term applied to a
building's use with zero net energy consumption and zero carbon emissions annually. Zero
energy buildings can be used autonomously from the energy grid supply – energy can be
harvested on-site. The net zero design principle is overlaid on the requested comfort of the
building occupant. Generally, the more extreme the exposure to the elements the more energy is
needed to achieve a comfortable environment of human use. Energy efficiency is the watermark
of the home of the future. Making your home more energy efficient is very easy and there are
excellent suggestions on how to do it. If you own your home, check in the attic to see how much
Insulation you have. Check the seal around all of your doors. Be sure that the seal is very tight
when you shut the door. A lot of cool and warm air can escape through these cracks if the seal is
loose. The seal is a rubber stripping that can be bought very inexpensively at your local home
supply store. Zero-Energy Buildings are built with significant energy-saving features. The
heating and cooling loads are lowered by using high-efficiency equipment, added insulation,
high-efficiency windows, natural ventilation, and other techniques. These features vary
depending on climate zones in which the construction occurs. Water heating loads can be
lowered by using water conservation fixtures, heat recovery units on waste water, and by using
solar water heating, and high-efficiency water heating equipment. In addition, day lighting with
sky-lights or solar-tubes can provide 100% of daytime illumination within the home. Night-time
illumination is typically done with fluorescent and LED lighting that use 1/3 or less power than
incandescent lights, without adding unwanted heat.
Project: - GSM Based Robot:-
It’s a wireless controlled robot. In this we are utilizing the concept of GSM communication.
It’s a wireless robot, which is controlled by our general mobile hand set. It works according to
the commands given by our mobile set. It uses two mobile sets. One at receiver end, which is
attached with the appliances (used as a receiver) and second at user end (which is used as
transmitter). It’s a one way communication in this project receiver does not send any command
or feedback to the transmitter. A link between the transmitter and receiver is established by a
general mobile communication and at general call charges. When a link between transmitter
and receiver is established then we can control our robot from our mobile handset. At the
receiver end receiver receives commands, decode it and act according to that. With the help of
this we can move our robot to any direction.
4. Dissertation: - Effect of Various Parameters on Flux Consumption; Carbon and
Silicon in Submerged Arc Welding:-
The submerged arc welding process is most widely used arc welding process for joining thick
plates and pipes. The features that distinguishing submerged arc welding from other arc welding
process is granularly fusible material termed as flux. The flux used in submerged arc welding
contributes a major part (above 50%) towards the total welding cost. The properties of weld
metal have been found to be dependent upon flux-electrode-base metal-composition on welding
parameters. Flux and filler metal play a central role in ascertaining property of weld metal.
In the present work, the effect of operating arc voltage, welding current, welding speed and
nozzle distance on flux consumption and chemical composition of carbon and silicon has been
studied.
Mathematical model was developed from data generated using two level half factorial
technique. The experiment is conducted as per the design matrix. Design Expert software 7 is
used in order to (i) the designing of a set of experiments for adequate and reliable measurement
of the true mean response of interest (ii) the determining of mathematical model with best fits
(iii) finding the optimum set of experimental factors that produces maximum or minimum value
of response and (iv) representing the direct effects of process variables on the flux consumption,
current and silicon through two dimensional graphs.
It was observed that the flux consumption decrease with increase in wire feed rate and its
welding speed. The flux consumption increase with increase in arc voltage. The effect of
constant tip to work distance has in significant effect on flux consumption. Carbon percentage
increase with increase in arc voltage and welding speed. Carbon percentage decrease with
increase in welding current. Silicon percentage decrease as increase in current and voltage.
