I Want To Cry Research Paper
I Don't Want To Cry It was lunch time and I had a huge smile on my face, it was chilly, and gloomy
outside but my smile didn't go away. I swung open the double doors, and aroma of the different food
build up, surrounding my nose, freedom at last. We had a mile next period and I loved the mile, in
general I love running. I put my binders down and sat down with my friends. We talked about the
mile, and other things that happened in school. My friends were always there when I need them. We
continued our conversation as we ate our lunch.
"Did you do your math homework, Alex?" one of my friends asked. Then it occurred to me that I
didn't do it, I was just worrying about the mile and I completely forgot about my homework . I

It was only about five seconds before my feet would touch the rough ground, but five seconds felt
long. On your mark... get set ... go! And we exploded into the air, Jack was still in front of me, when

legs felt like Jell–O but I was still even more determined, runners were just like cheetahs who
wanted the prey to ourselves. I saw the finish line as well as heard Jack's feet scrambling behind me
I collapsed into the arms of the finish line. I looked up and I saw kids cheering, they cheered for me
even my friends were cheering for me. I never thought I'd be able to do it. I was trying to catch my
breath and shake off my legs which felt like elastic. I felt new and confident as ever, I saw Jack
when the race was over and he wanted to return the shoes he said sorry, and I refused and told him
to keep the shoes as I walked into the cheering crowd I thought, 'I didn't need them any

The True Success Behind Ms. Marvel
In less than a year, that has lasted on shelves, after releasing the new series of Ms. Marvel in 2014 it
turned out to be a successful hit. Kamala Khan may be a Muslim but she 's still just like any other
ordinary teenage girl who lives in Jersey and faces the same problems: lives with strict parents, has
that one friend who has a secret crush but is never noticed, a small group of friends, and the desire
to be able to fit in with the "popular" kids at school. This story isn't just about how any other every
day person became to become zero to hero. The true success behind Ms. Marvel is because it 's
something different Marvel Comics brings to the readers they don 't usually see comparing to
previous superheros. They didn't only bring an urban legend back ..
Even before Kamala came along there were superheros that existed that are Muslim as well. The 99
were a team of superheroes that were all Muslims, which had a crossover once with the Justice
League. Another is member of the X – Men, Dust is her name having the ability to transform herself
into a sandstorm. However Kamala is the very first Muslim superhero to have her very own comic,
which makes Ms. Marvel special to the readers.
When they first introduce Kamala in the beginning of the first issue she's at home, sitting in her
room creating Avengers fan – fiction on her computer. This shows that she doesn 't only lives but
also adore and admires of a world filled with evil and crime and justice always prevails at the

Experimental Cinema Vs Experimental Films
Experimental or avant–garde films are those made by individuals and are not intended for public
viewing. These filmmakers approach making their films as an art form, with no expectation to make
a profit. Experimental films are often made in the artisanal mode of production, which they are
shown in small screenings to small groups. One common focus in experimental films is the passage
of time, which is often extremely noticeable compared to Hollywood films.
Un Chien Andalou by Luis Buñuel and Salvador Dalí is a film that uses titles and dream sequences
to jump around in time. The film opens with a title reading "Once Upon a Time" before showing a
scene that ultimately ends with a woman's eye being slit with a razor. The film then jumps "eight
years later" to the same woman, with both eyes intact, making the audience forget about the prior
scene. She attempts to save a man after a bicycle fall and he is assumed dead to the viewer, however
he appears in the room with ants crawling out of his hand. This messes with the viewers perception
of time as it is undeterminable if the man lived, or if the events are taking place in a dream
sequence. The man then attempts to rape the woman and drags two ropes attached to two pianos
with priests on the rope and dead donkeys on the piano, making the viewer feel as if the scene they
are witnessing is confirmed as a dream sequence. This seems correct when she enters the other room
to find the man on the bike in bed. Another title appears

Dc Marvel : Dc Comics
DC vs Marvel There's an age old battle amongst us "nerds" over who is better in the comic book
world, DC Comics or Marvel Comics? Everyone has their own opinions on who has the better
stories and characters, and which comes out with the better movies and shows, but when you break
it down each one has different qualities that make it better. Marvel and DC are the most well–known
comic creators in the world. These companies kick–started the superhero/supervillain franchise.
Marvel comics was founded in October 1939 Timely Comics, by Martin Goodman. The first comic
published by Marvel included the first appearance of the Human Torch and Namor the Sub–Mariner
("Marvel Comics"). DC was founded six years earlier in May 1934, as National Allied ... Show

If you were to compare Tony Stark to Bruce Wayne again, they are similar in the way that they are
both billionaire geniuses who use their money to fight crime. Their background stories are a little
different, because of Bruce's tragic upbringing after his parents were murdered. There are many
comic book characters who become the hero they are because of a tragedy, like Spider Man and the
death of Uncle Ben. Some heroes are a little different such as the Green Lanterns, they usually don't
have this devastating past; they are given a ring if they are found worthy, or Thor, who was born a
God. The theme of darkness vs light that shadows DC and Marvel usually follows them into the
cinematic universes. It's the reason that Marvel tends to do better in the box office overall, because
parents are more willing to bring their child to see the Avengers than they are to see Batman. The
Marvel cinematic universe (MCU) brings in a lot more elements of lighthearted humor that makes
the movies family friendly, compared to the DC cinematic universe (DCU) which has those dark
elements from the comics brought to life. Both movie franchises try and stay in the PG–13. The
release of Deadpool changed a lot by being the first successful rated R comic book movie. Deadpool
was a game changer for Marvel because it brings in the darkness that they normally lack. Generally,

Marketing Strategy 8050
Marvel Enterprises, Inc. Case Writing by Xiaodan Dong
February, 2008
Marvel Enterprises, Inc.
(b) Why was Marvel's turnaround so successful? Would you characterize that success as a fluke? Or
do you view it as sustainable? Why? How? Marvel's success is not a fluke because its business
model is sustainable. Marvel's new strategy monetized the content library by licensing characters for
use with media products. During an era in which mass media is very important in people's life, only
one media tool, publishing, is not strong enough to expand Marvel's influence to consumers. Comic
books can target a very limited market, mostly composed of male teenagers and young adults from
13 to 23 years old. It is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the future, licensing will keep increasing and its percentage of revenue will grow, especially if the
management adopts a strategy of capitalizing on it. In the past, the toy business was just an annex of
the publishing industry. Little effort was invested in toys which were not even mentioned strategic
plans. Now the toy industry is the second–highest profit maker in Marvel, generating over $20
billion in sales in 2003. The toy business is very promising in the future. However its percentage in
revenue will still remain stable or slightly decrease, just as publishing will do, because licensing has
such a strong possibility for growth. In addition, while the toy industry competition is too fierce to
permit further achievements.
(d) To what extent is Marvel's success due to only one character, Spider–Man? How can Marvel
develop its lesser–known characters? There is no doubt that, to a great extent, Marvel's success
since the 1960s is due to Spider–Man. However, during the 1990s, the company declined despite
such a successful superhero. "Exploiting" strategy by significantly increasing the number of titles
stretched out consumers' interest. Marvel's new CEO, Peter Cuneo, restructured the company with
negative assets and turned the company around. Spider–Man was resuscitated in comic–book sales.

History of Marvel Comics
The History of Marvel Comics
Marvel Worldwide, Inc., commonly referred to as Marvel Comics (formerly Marvel Publishing, Inc.
and Marvel Comics Group) is an American publisher of comic books and related media. Marvel,
founded by Martin Goodman, started in 1939 as Timely Publications, and by the early 1950s had
generally become known as Atlas Comics. Marvel 's modern incarnation dates from 1961, the year
that the company launched The Fantastic Four and other superhero titles created by Stan Lee, Jack
Kirby, Steve Ditko, and others. Marvel is a very successful company and has survived for 75 years
so far. Timely's first publication, Marvel Comic's #1 (October 1939), included the first appearance

The introduction of Marvel 's first superhero team, The Fantastic Four, established the company 's
reputation. The majority of Marvel Comics superhero stories were written by Stan Lee. Lee and
Steve Ditko generated the most successful new series in The Amazing Spider–Man. Marvel 's
comics had a reputation for focusing on characterization to a greater extent than most superhero
comics before them. Take for example, Iron Man. The character's name was Anthony Stark, but was
known as Tony (Admin1). Tony Stark was an engineer who suffered from a heart injury when he
was kidnapped by a group of terrorists. He created a suit of armor that empowered his escape, and
helps in protecting the world. Tony Stark is a very witty character. Tony uses sarcasm throughout
many comic books, and all of his movies. In 1968 company founder Martin Goodman revised the
constraining distribution arrangement with Independent News. In the full of that year, he sold
Marvel Comics and his other publishing businesses to the Perfect Film and Chemical Corporation,
which grouped them as the subsidiary Magazine Management Company. Goodman remained as
publisher. Then in 1969, Goodman ended his distribution deal with Independent by signing with
Curtis Circulation Company. Goodman retired as publisher in 1972 and installed his son, Chip, as
publisher. Shortly thereafter, Lee succeeded him as publisher

South Park as Parody of Society Essay
South Park as Parody of Society
South Park began airing in 1997. The commercials that preceded it gave the impression of it being
another stupid cartoon; however, when I began watching, I realized important issues were being
covered through the repeated behaviors and actions of its characters, through the influences these
actions could have on the viewers, through the reinforcement and rejections of certain stereotypes,
through the long–term effects that could result from watching the program, and through its
reflection of social reality.
Some of the repeated behaviors and actions of the characters include one of the children (Kenny)
dying during each episode (followed by Stan yelling, "Oh, my God! They've killed Kenny" (South
... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are both negative and positive influences these repeated behaviors and actions could have on
an audience. One negative effect could be the numbing of the viewer to children's deaths: it is such a
common occurrence on the show until it is expected. Another effect could be the instilling of
negative feelings toward the overweight; the audience could be learning that it is acceptable to
verbally attack a person with a weight problem. Also, in a time of AIDS, promotion of sexual
promiscuity is a dangerous thing: never have the writers mentioned the use of condoms by Chef
during his encounters. Finally, because of the recent advances in genetic research and its awakening
of new fears in the public, South Park's parody of the geneticist could further play on people's fears.
Despite the potentially negative influences of these behaviors and actions, there could be a positive
influence existing in the form of catharsis. American society has suffered from the rules of political
correctness, the fear of AIDS, and the fear of knowledge (the fear of going too far into God's
domain––thanks to our Puritanical background). Maybe South Park gives us release from repression
by allowing us to laugh at the things we fear the most: death, ridicule of our differences by our
peers, the contracting of deadly diseases, and advancements in science. (I am sure that most of us
need release from the built–up tensions of daily life; South

American Comics And Japanese Manga
I. Abstract
When mention comics, everyone can think of America comics and Japanese manga. They are two
big parts of world comics and represent western and eastern comics. So they will have some
differences in style, content and development. America comics is mainly about superheroes and
reflects individualistic heroism. Japanese manga has many genres.
II. Introduction
Comics is a kind of medium that uses drawing and writing to tell a story. Cartooning is the most
common mean in comics. Comics can be divided into two kinds. One is English–language comics,
another is Japanese manga. America comics is the representation of English–language comics. As
we all know, many America comic books are adapted to movies, such as Superman, Batman, and ...

It is the generic terms of combinatorial pictures' works, and it is also magazine that publish these
kind of works. Highly developed Japanese manga has already become a big school that has its own
particular style on the world comics.
V. The comparison of America comics and Japanese manga.
America comics and Japanese manga are two important and big comic schools. Although they have
some similar aspects, they have more differences because of different background. Then, I will
compare these two kinds of comics in three aspects.
A. Styles and content
The first is drawing style. America comics is almost about superheroes, these characters are drawn
hasty and careless. And it is colorful. Japanese manga's pictures are delicate, and its characters are
beautiful.
The second is content. America comics is just about superheroes, and it mainly express
individualistic heroism. Its stories are more close to reality, and its content is almost about fighting.
Japanese manga's themes are abundant. "It includes works in a broad range of
genres: action–adventure, romance, sports and games, historical drama, comedy, science among
others."[3]Every aspect of live can be drawn to manga. Japanese manga is more flexible than
America comics.
B. Development
"American historians generally divide comics chronologically into «ages». The first period, called
«Golden Age», extends from 1938 (first appearance of Superman) to 1954

The X–Men movie franchise is based off the popular Marvel comic of the same name; This means
that the narratives in the movie franchise are adapted from the narratives of the comic books;
something Waterhouse–Watson and Kendal (2012) discuss while discussing Prater's (2012) view;
they say "Based on comics from the 1960s and 70s, Prater argues that the more recent films
disempower the female X–men, while trying to claim an "alibi" for this sexist representation."
It is an interesting view, highlighting how passive the audience becomes to hegemonic beliefs in a
movie if the story happens to be adapted from a comic that was written roughly 40 years earlier.
What Waterhouse–Watson and Kendal (2012) were stating, about the "X–Men" film franchise, also
applies to the expanded universe of comic books. Hulshof–Schmidt (2008) talks about story arcs in
comic that have a negative effect on the super heroines. Hulshof–Schmidt (2008) talks about the
1980's story arc within the "X–Men" comic book series. The story involves a female superhero who
suffers a traumatic experience when she is possessed by a telepath, an experience which he
(Hulshof–Schmidt, 2008) sates is "an unfortunate tendency of the comics industry to run their
female characters through excessive turmoil."
According to Prater (2012) if this story was chosen as a plot for a new film sequel, the audience
would not believe that there is a

Censorship Of The Innocent By Dr Frederick Wertham
In the 1950's, censorship was a major part of media coming out of World War II, and into the Cold
War era , America was scared of communism. Everything was censored from radio and television to
books and comics. Comic books had the biggest attack by Dr Frederick Wertham, a German–
American psychiatrist in his book "Seduction of The Innocent" published in 1954. He used fear to
convince the public that comics increased teen delinquency. He argued so well that congress stepped
in and had a subcommittee investigate the effects of comic books on delinquency. His actions lead
the industry to becoming nearly extinct. Being pressed in a difficult situation the comic industry
evolved, self regulated, regained popularity, and even created social movements for positive reform.
His research was fabricated to make it more appealing to the fear of American society, and gain
government trust using the terms communism and delinquency in his reports, books, lectures, and
testimonies.
Dr Wertham's word was respected in the psychological community. Unlike Senator McCarthy
whose communist crusade was taking place at the same time, Wertham had research and experience
backing his statements. His career in the U.S. started in 1922 when he was offered a position at the
psychiatric clinic at Johns Hopkins Hospital. He accepted the offer and became a US citizen five
years later. Being in the field for 10 years, he was offered another position in New York to be the

Marvel Comics Specific Purpose: To inform the audience about the history of Marvel Comics.
Thesis/Central Idea: To understand Marvel Comics today, it is important to understand the history of
the industry and its name changes from Timely Comics, to Atlas Comics, and lastly Marvel Comics.
Organizational Pattern: Topical I. Introduction A. Attention getter: Imagine yourself living in United
States in a time that was considered less than peaceful. Hitler is spreading his rule across Europe
and oppressing their people, and with little to stop him, the US is on the brink of entering into World
War II. This could mean the end of your great country as you know it, and who will save you? The
world needed heroes. The world needed Marvel. B. Relevance: Have any of you seen a Spider–Man
movie? What about Thor or Iron Man? Very few of us in this room can say we have not seen an
action packed Marvel movie at least once. Since its humble beginnings in 1939, Marvel has
revolutionized not only the comic book world, but also set the bar incredibly high for all potential
superhero movies. Marvel is completely relevant to the yearly cinema culture we find ourselves in
the midst of, and continues to grow in popularity. C. Credibility: As a fan of comic books and
movies, I have always been interested in the dynamics and history of the Marvel and DC companies.

How Stan Lee Turned the World into True Believers
How Stan Lee Turned the World into True Believers As humans, we are always fascinated with the
extraordinary and the fantastical. Whether its fantasies, science–fiction tales, or comic books, people
have always been drawn to the adventures of men and women with amazing powers and colorful
costumes fighting evil and saving the world. Stan Lee is often considered to be the father of the
modern superhero, and it's not hard to see why. Even if you've never heard of Stan Lee, you've
definitely heard of the myriad of cultural icons he's created throughout the years. Spider–Man, Iron
Man, the Incredible Hulk, the Fantastic Four, the Avengers, Thor, the X–Men, as well as so many
others are all the creations of Stan Lee. Lee created so many realistic characters that combined
typical human emotions and traits with their super powers. Lee's personal writing style, attention to
detail, and his revolutionary ideas changed the idea of the superhero forever; he created ideals and
themes that have been adapted by others as well as standing the test of time to be relevant even to
this day. Born Stanley Martin Lieber, Stan Lee was born in New York City on December 28, 1922.
According to Gale's Biography in Context, Lee grew up during the Great Depression and had a
variety of jobs while in school to support his family during the tough times. Lee worked part–time

The First Appearance Of Batman Essay
1938 saw the first appearance of Batman. More of a mystery comic than a superhero comic book,
Batman was inherently different from the pure and clean Superman. He was a gritty and depressing
character that has been able to remain in print even to this day. Rather than using superpowers,
Batman uses detective abilities that allowed him to solve cases and find perpetrators. ("The History
of Comic Books." TheComicBooks.com.) But not even Batman, Superman, or even Captain Marvel
could brace themselves for the arrival of the Marvel comics.
Originally under the name of Timely Comics, Marvel was founded by Martin Goodman, who was
contacted by several superhero veterans from Funnies Inc. The Funnies group told him that they
would present to him a prepared, finished comic book every month, for a service fee. So in 1939,
Marvel released their very first comic Issue #1. The story was about the Original Human Torch; who
was an android superhero, the detective Angel, and Namor the Submariner.
In 1940 there was a rise in popularity for patriotic themed superheroes caused by the creation of the
hero the Shield. As a result, in 1941, Jack Kirby and Joe Simon created the second most iconic
superhero in Marvel comics, Captain America. ("Marvel comics database.") Captain America,
whose original name was Super American, was a consciously political character that was used to

Personal Narrative: My First Day At Cathedral High School
It was the last day of tenth grade at Cathedral High School. My classmates and I were all packed at

After we finished eating we were very tired, so Claire and I went to our separate rooms. Not long

Zac Efron's Overall, We Are Your Friends
Whenever a movie happens to star Zac Efron, I always get a similar reaction from people after

plenty of other current stars (Justin Timberlake comes to mind), used the Disney Channel as a
stepping stone to launch his professional acting career. However, what I've never heard out of
anyone's mouth is: he's a talented actor.
Don't get me wrong – and believe it or not, I see a ton of acting potential in Zac Efron, even despite
his lackluster selection of roles. Still, it's incredibly irksome to endure his career of endless batting

The subject I chose to analyze is Doctor Bruce Banner, better known as his alter ego, The Incredible

animalistic and rage driven. There is an amazing difference between the two dynamics. This subject
is burdened with raging and angry outbursts as the Hulk followed by withdrawn and confused

Tornado : A Short Story
In the towns of Greece, there was a certain gray eyed, black haired boy named Tornado. What no
one knew, was that he would grow up to treacherous things. Tornado was troubled as a young boy,
with his father never home and his mother lying in her grave, he was depressed and lonely. He
would go to school to find, his classmates either teasing, or harassing him and using him like a toy.
His world started to slowly fall apart, and with Tornado being alone, he grew angry. Over the next
few years of his childhood, his father left him alone with nobody to tell him wrong, and guide him.
He was a lost puppy. When he became a young adult, he couldn't contain it anymore. He was a
balloon, ready to pop. He had enough. Tornado started to thrash out on innocent citizens in his town.
He no longer had emotions, except one; anger. One day, his blood was boiling and he was as red as
a tomato. He stormed around the streets of Greece, knocking down everything in his path, creating
destruction and lowering the citizens self–esteem. He was a ticking time–bomb. Citizens were
screaming at him to stop what he is doing, but Tornado's anger deafened him. Nobody was able to
calm him, and they knew that. So the citizens waited his tantrum out. This wasn't the first time this
has happened, so they knew what to do. They all went in their houses, away from him, so he
couldn't do harm to anyone. But they kept a close eye on him, waiting for the devil to leave. While

Comparing Media Images Of Criminological Research Essay
iii. Comparing Media Images to Criminological Research
The superhero genre is so popular and influential that many studies have been done on its depictions
of the groups and the impact it has on a large part of society how it has "become a staple on film,
television, and in video games" (Darowski). The genre is so influential in fact, that it dates back all
the way to the Ancient Greeks, and possibly even further (Haynes). Every group in history has had
their mythologies and epic tales of crime fighters, they just did not call them superheroes. For
example, Achilles only had one weakness (his heel) and was by the Greeks definition, considered a
hero (greek–gods.org). The same goes for heroes like Perseus, Theseus, and even Heracles. Back
then though instead of being changed into a super soldier in a lab by a German scientist or creating a
flying metal suit in the desert, these heroes were part god which explained their extra–ordinary
abilities. Super crime fighters have always existed, but when comic books began in the 19th century
a new set of rules was created to guide their content to be more appropriate than the Greek tales
(Coville).
"The Comics Code" was a list of regulations regarding the depiction of certain events in comic
books maintained by the Comics Magazine Association of America (Nyberg). The code was very
strict and eventually challenged by Stan Lee (one of the creators of Marvel) through a story arc in
the Spiderman Comics that dealt with drug abuse.

Creative Writing: Softball
What once was purple, is now green. Clack! Clack! We walked out of the shed as a team, our metal
cleats making an obnoxious sound with each step. We were carrying our jerseys and equipment,
getting ready for a softball game. Actually, this wasn't just any softball game, it was the first softball
game since the event that changed my life forever. It was a hot, summer Monday night. The scalding
hot sun was the icing on the cake, just another thing depleting the energy from our bodies. It was
almost game time, so it was about 6:00PM. As we strolled out of the shed, I could feel tears
submerging to my eyes, which had become almost second nature the past couple of days. It seemed
as if I had cried a million gallons. As I looked around, I noticed that there were way more people
than I have ever seen at a home baseball/softball game. There was hardly any empty space. I saw
swarms of every shade of green thought possible, supporting Andrew and his favorite color. The
number of people that were in attendance just showed that Andrew ... Show more content on

Comic Books Are Important For The World
Comic books are important to the world for the fact that they represent a portion of the population
that like to fantasize that they can escape the hardships of everyday life. In comic books people can
be a hero, a villain, or a bystander that learns an important lesson from observing the two (Bendis
2).
Grant Morrison discusses his views on the difference of the ages and their views on comics:
Adults...struggle desperately with fiction, demanding constantly that it conform to the rules of
everyday life. Adults foolishly demand to know how Superman can possibly fly, or how Batman can
possibly run a multibillion–dollar business empire during the day and fight crime at night, when the
answer is obvious even to the smallest child: because it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The busy lifestyle, the children's needs, all those requirements play a role in time constraints. Comic
books offer a solution to the everyday, active person (Bendis 1). The reader is usually short on time
so he or she must be intrigued immediately for the comic to gain full attention. As soon as the reader
commits himself or herself, the situation changes. He or she is thrown into an unknown situation
that demands total attention (1). The plot is pulled together and the hero is cast in circumstances that
demand a resolve. A confrontation follows and against seemingly impossible odds, the hero finds an
answer within an unlikely source that the reader would believe they could also find if put in the
same situation. Once the comic book is finished being read, the readers recognize that very little
time has gone by and they can continue on with their normal lives.
The understanding of the comic book doesn't end there. The reader now has time to think on what
they just read, what could have been done, what should have been done and other possible outcomes
to the plot. This can be done while daydreaming at school or bored to death at work. The importance
of contemplating the different endings of a comic book is the fact that it makes the reader truly think
( Bendis 2). The reader must have a sort of interactive imagination that allows them to comprehend
to underlying lesson within every comic.
Comic books are almost a necessity in life because people

Although everything seems to be a blur, I start to recollect my day, and it all began at my second

I remember getting prepared for the show today, and I recollect dripping in sweat because I was

impossible to hold on to my bar. My parents, Beatrice and Alonzo Moss, had already given me a

Reviving Opheli Saving The Selves Of Adolescent Girls
While reading Mary Pipher's, "Reviving Ophelia: Saving the Selves of Adolescent Girls" and Dan
Kindlon and Michael Thompson's, "Raising Cain: Protecting the Emotional Life of Boys," I got a
better understanding of the mindsets of teenagers in todays society. I learned that countless girls and
boys have the same inner battles and do not even realize it. The two songs I chose that best represent
ideas of woman and manhood are "Unpretty," by TLC and "Stan," by Eminem. I believe these songs
support many of the stereotypes portrayed in both of the class readings and hold strong messages
that can impact the views of girls and boys alike. They address many struggles that teenagers today
may be going through but afraid of speaking about openly.
In Reviving Ophelia, Pipher takes us into the minds of teenage girls and evaluates the ordinary
troubles they encounter. She explains how girls tend to let the opinions of others influence their
interests and appearance. They visualize how others perceive them and based on this, they form a
self–perception. This perception can either be a positive or negative one. Generally if a girl
establishes a negative self–perception, they have an urge to alter whom they are to gain approval.
They crave acceptance from others so much that they usually through great lengths to get it. The
problem is that many girls don't accept themselves for whom they are and "Unpretty" speaks to
those girls in particular. The song is by the popular 90's R&B group

The Importance Of Comics As A Learning Devices
The idea that comics can be used as a learning device is strange to some, but comics can teach kids
many important lessons such as reading comprehension, how to act social, and how to engage as a
reader or writer. As (Josh Elder,) founder of reading with pictures put it there are three Es when
teaching though comics engagement efficiency and effectiveness. These concepts will help us
understand why comics are educational, beneficial and can optimize learning in school and
university.
Comics broaden our educational understanding especially in adolescence as they are the most asked
to read literature. Comics in adolescence have been seen as a distraction more of a learning device.
As the article "For Improving Early Literacy, Reading Comics' No Child's Play." Points out most
teacher see comics as the students aren't paying attention to the message or the words in the
literature, but if that were so couldn't the same be said for picture books. You have to actively read
the words to get a good idea of what's going on in the comics (Scott Mcloud book) Making Comics
show that even the pictures in a comic must be actively interpreted by the reader.
Which brings me to my next point in which comics makes young reader more actively aware of
what their reading and the symbolism or the main theme in it. (A study conducted in, University of
Southern Carolina, allowed young boys to engage in comic reading or traditional reading. Students
score did not go down in reading comics rather

Who Is Better Than Stand-Up Comedy
We are living in a time where it seems as if we as a people cannot agree on anything. We are living
what appears to be a turbulent time in a nation that is dividing further and further apart. With all the
terrible things going on in the nation we all need an escape from time to time. To me one of the best
escapes form the chaos in the world is laughter. What better way to get that laughter delivered to
you, than stand–up comedy? Over the years I have not met many people that do not enjoy going to a
comedy show. The one thing that I have found is that most people either do not know that comedy
shows are going on all around them or; they will not go to a show if the person is not famous. As a

That is why I cannot understand why it can be like pulling teeth to get people to come out and
support a live local stand–up comedy show. Is it really worth it to spend an exorbitant amount of
money on a ticket to go watch a world famous comedian in an arena or a theater? I am not trying to
say that those shows are not fun and that those comedians do not deserve to have us go watch them,
they worked hard to get there. What I am saying is, that going to a comedy club setting is a much
more enjoyable experience. Instead of spending an arm and a leg on a ticket. You can spend a
fraction of the price and probably get friends to come along with you. It is so much better to sit at a
table full of friends instead of in a row in a cramped chair next to strangers. With the money you
saved, you and your friends can go out to eat before, and order more drinks at your table at the
show. There is not much better than getting dressed up and going out and having a fun night with a
group of loved ones. Many people are afraid of going into intimate settings for fear of being picked
on by the comedians on stage. I am here to tell you, that the vast majority of comedians do not pick
on the crowd. It is already hard enough to get a crowd there, why would they make them not feel
comfortable. They do however, interact with the crowd making the show more inclusive. Something
that you would not get at an arena or theater show, unless you buy front row tickets. "The audience
just becomes an amorphous mass of nothingness for me, there's no intimacy Because in terms of my

The Distribution Of The Studio System
After the breakdown of the studio system the leading film companies started to buy each other on a
conglomorate scale in order to increase their quality and income during the production or

has shaped the industry. Most companies in hollywood are economically driven rathern than
artisticly driven, therefore whilst making films it is in the company's best interest to make more

"Media conglomerates strive for policies that facilitate their control of the markets around the

others, along with artists, love the sound of country music. As Maren Morris beautifully serenades

all knew who it was. "Wrigley Field! What's Up!" he shouted as everyone started screaming. A song
started playing that I did not immediately recognize, though I liked it. I now know this song
as,"Rain Is A Good Thing," from his 2009 album,"Doin' My Thing."
That song ended, and another one began. Unlike the first one, I immediately recognized this one.
"Kick The Dust Up," is one of his most loved songs, one that nearly any fan of his would recognize.
Two songs afterward, there was a certain guitar melody that stuck out to me. It also stuck out to

Political Elements Of Superheros
Many comic book superheroes were born in an era of highly intense international tension. The genre
of Superheros in American comic books revolve around adventures of powerful superheros using
superhuman abilities or weapons, as they act on personal morals through violence. The political
elements are evident in the plot: the heroes are in a war with a dangerous enemy, and their morals
justify violence to 'protect' those who are in danger. As well as it is a form of entertainment, comic
books as a media influenced many, especially young boys and men.
The debut of Green Lantern by DC Comics on 1959 featured Hal Jordan, a test pilot who recieved a

of serious consequences this could lead to, unless America took measures to inhance their science

The Superheroes Of The Comics
Once disregarded, comic books have been progressively paving a way to the future without sexism
and racism in a time when they are becoming increasingly impactful to young adults. In 1938
Superman debuted and began the future of comic books, creating the two most influential publishers
(Adkins). In 1940 Fantomah was introduced as the first female superhero character, though she
remained a less popular character in the industry. It wasn't until the early 1960's that Wonder
Woman was created, and she became one of the most well–known female heroes among the genres.
Since then, more and more women have been depicted as heroes, mostly female versions of
themselves. With racism and sexism still a common problem in society, Marvel was the first to
announce that they would replace a major male hero completely with a female that has her own
origin story, as well as sticking with comics and allowing Falcon, an African American superhero, to
take the place of Captain America. Though resulting in mixed reviews, this step has been seen as a
dive into the right direction for equality in the comic book industry. For feminism in comic books, it
seems they are being pushed in the right directions with two major heroines taking the big screen in
their own shows. The last female superhero to have her very own television show was Wonder
Woman in 1975, 27 years ago (Polo). With the releases of Jessica Jones and Supergirl, it is the first
time there have been two female super leads, not

A Short Story : A Story?
Anthony and his brother drew stares at the mysterious house as they took steps slowly toward the
door. They rang the doorbell and a tall, dark and handsome male named Derek much taller than
Anthony about 6'4" with streaked brown hair, and muddy blue eyes stared down at them with an
excited face and welcomed them in. They followed Derek down the dimly lighted hallway into a
colorful, loud room with a DJ and crowd of dancing people. Drew is well informed and so when he
knows there will be trouble he brings along his camera hoping he'll catch the action. Anthony
doesn't like that because when the party's over Derek lets everyone out and Derek, drew, and
Anthony go completely cover themselves in black and head outside. They headed for a house about
a few blocks down from Derek's house. In Derek's duffle bag was a lot of distinctive spray cans and
he knew that Anthony was the artsy one you could tell if he was artsy without knowing him just by
looking at him he had red dreads, emerald green eyes, and many more colorful features. He dared
him to spray paint his name on the wall of the neighboring home and told him that the spray paint
was temporary anyway, it was too dark for Anthony to see the spray can. He has printed his name in
his favorite colors, light blue, sun–kissed orange, splattered red dots. They ran as fast as they could
and crash at Derek's house. Later that night at Derek's house Anthony went to go see his beautiful
art, but when he arrived the

The Value Net For Marvel Studios
Co–opetition/Value Net
The value–net for Marvel Studios is very large and diversified. We will focus this discussion in two
key market segments. These are 1) the superhero film genre and includes competing properties from
DC Comics characters produced by Warner Brothers as well as other Marvel character films
produced by 20th Century Fox and Sony Pictures who have licensed the rights to the Fantastic Four,
X–Men, and Spider–Man 2) the new market of toy and video game convergence pioneered by the
Skylanders in which Disney's Infinity has recently launched the ability to play as Marvel characters.
The superhero film genre has been around a long time with several reboots of staple characters such
as Batman, Spiderman, and Superman over the years. However, they had limited box office success
and their appeal did not appear to translate readily to the mass market. However, through the
success of both Marvel Studios and its rivals, this trend appears to be changing. In fact, Chris
Nolan's Batman trilogy had a combined worldwide box office of $2.46 Billion and "The Avengers"
$1.51 Billion. (Marvel is Defining 2013) The two new Spider Man movies, The Amazing Spider
Man and Amazing Spider Man 2 had a combined worldwide box office of $1.47 Billion. (Source:
http://www.the–numbers.com/movies/franchise/Spider–Man )
The most recent X–Men movie "Days of Future Past" which was released in May 2014 had a
worldwide box office of $744 Million. (Source:

I Want To Cry Research Paper

  • 1. I Want To Cry Research Paper I Don't Want To Cry It was lunch time and I had a huge smile on my face, it was chilly, and gloomy outside but my smile didn't go away. I swung open the double doors, and aroma of the different food build up, surrounding my nose, freedom at last. We had a mile next period and I loved the mile, in general I love running. I put my binders down and sat down with my friends. We talked about the mile, and other things that happened in school. My friends were always there when I need them. We continued our conversation as we ate our lunch. "Did you do your math homework, Alex?" one of my friends asked. Then it occurred to me that I didn't do it, I was just worrying about the mile and I completely forgot about my homework . I swiftly pulled ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was only about five seconds before my feet would touch the rough ground, but five seconds felt long. On your mark... get set ... go! And we exploded into the air, Jack was still in front of me, when I ran it felt like a thousand needles piercing my feet. I still ran and was neck to neck with Jack, my legs felt like Jell–O but I was still even more determined, runners were just like cheetahs who wanted the prey to ourselves. I saw the finish line as well as heard Jack's feet scrambling behind me I collapsed into the arms of the finish line. I looked up and I saw kids cheering, they cheered for me even my friends were cheering for me. I never thought I'd be able to do it. I was trying to catch my breath and shake off my legs which felt like elastic. I felt new and confident as ever, I saw Jack when the race was over and he wanted to return the shoes he said sorry, and I refused and told him to keep the shoes as I walked into the cheering crowd I thought, 'I didn't need them any ... • 2. The True Success Behind Ms. Marvel In less than a year, that has lasted on shelves, after releasing the new series of Ms. Marvel in 2014 it turned out to be a successful hit. Kamala Khan may be a Muslim but she 's still just like any other ordinary teenage girl who lives in Jersey and faces the same problems: lives with strict parents, has that one friend who has a secret crush but is never noticed, a small group of friends, and the desire to be able to fit in with the "popular" kids at school. This story isn't just about how any other every day person became to become zero to hero. The true success behind Ms. Marvel is because it 's something different Marvel Comics brings to the readers they don 't usually see comparing to previous superheros. They didn't only bring an urban legend back .. Even before Kamala came along there were superheros that existed that are Muslim as well. The 99 were a team of superheroes that were all Muslims, which had a crossover once with the Justice League. Another is member of the X – Men, Dust is her name having the ability to transform herself into a sandstorm. However Kamala is the very first Muslim superhero to have her very own comic, which makes Ms. Marvel special to the readers. When they first introduce Kamala in the beginning of the first issue she's at home, sitting in her room creating Avengers fan – fiction on her computer. This shows that she doesn 't only lives but also adore and admires of a world filled with evil and crime and justice always prevails at the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Experimental Cinema Vs Experimental Films Experimental or avant–garde films are those made by individuals and are not intended for public viewing. These filmmakers approach making their films as an art form, with no expectation to make a profit. Experimental films are often made in the artisanal mode of production, which they are shown in small screenings to small groups. One common focus in experimental films is the passage of time, which is often extremely noticeable compared to Hollywood films. Un Chien Andalou by Luis Buñuel and Salvador Dalí is a film that uses titles and dream sequences to jump around in time. The film opens with a title reading "Once Upon a Time" before showing a scene that ultimately ends with a woman's eye being slit with a razor. The film then jumps "eight years later" to the same woman, with both eyes intact, making the audience forget about the prior scene. She attempts to save a man after a bicycle fall and he is assumed dead to the viewer, however he appears in the room with ants crawling out of his hand. This messes with the viewers perception of time as it is undeterminable if the man lived, or if the events are taking place in a dream sequence. The man then attempts to rape the woman and drags two ropes attached to two pianos with priests on the rope and dead donkeys on the piano, making the viewer feel as if the scene they are witnessing is confirmed as a dream sequence. This seems correct when she enters the other room to find the man on the bike in bed. Another title appears ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Dc Marvel : Dc Comics DC vs Marvel There's an age old battle amongst us "nerds" over who is better in the comic book world, DC Comics or Marvel Comics? Everyone has their own opinions on who has the better stories and characters, and which comes out with the better movies and shows, but when you break it down each one has different qualities that make it better. Marvel and DC are the most well–known comic creators in the world. These companies kick–started the superhero/supervillain franchise. Marvel comics was founded in October 1939 Timely Comics, by Martin Goodman. The first comic published by Marvel included the first appearance of the Human Torch and Namor the Sub–Mariner ("Marvel Comics"). DC was founded six years earlier in May 1934, as National Allied ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If you were to compare Tony Stark to Bruce Wayne again, they are similar in the way that they are both billionaire geniuses who use their money to fight crime. Their background stories are a little different, because of Bruce's tragic upbringing after his parents were murdered. There are many comic book characters who become the hero they are because of a tragedy, like Spider Man and the death of Uncle Ben. Some heroes are a little different such as the Green Lanterns, they usually don't have this devastating past; they are given a ring if they are found worthy, or Thor, who was born a God. The theme of darkness vs light that shadows DC and Marvel usually follows them into the cinematic universes. It's the reason that Marvel tends to do better in the box office overall, because parents are more willing to bring their child to see the Avengers than they are to see Batman. The Marvel cinematic universe (MCU) brings in a lot more elements of lighthearted humor that makes the movies family friendly, compared to the DC cinematic universe (DCU) which has those dark elements from the comics brought to life. Both movie franchises try and stay in the PG–13. The release of Deadpool changed a lot by being the first successful rated R comic book movie. Deadpool was a game changer for Marvel because it brings in the darkness that they normally lack. Generally, the movies are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Marvel Enterprises Marketing Strategy 8050 Marvel Enterprises, Inc. Case Writing by Xiaodan Dong February, 2008 Marvel Enterprises, Inc. (b) Why was Marvel's turnaround so successful? Would you characterize that success as a fluke? Or do you view it as sustainable? Why? How? Marvel's success is not a fluke because its business model is sustainable. Marvel's new strategy monetized the content library by licensing characters for use with media products. During an era in which mass media is very important in people's life, only one media tool, publishing, is not strong enough to expand Marvel's influence to consumers. Comic books can target a very limited market, mostly composed of male teenagers and young adults from 13 to 23 years old. It is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the future, licensing will keep increasing and its percentage of revenue will grow, especially if the management adopts a strategy of capitalizing on it. In the past, the toy business was just an annex of the publishing industry. Little effort was invested in toys which were not even mentioned strategic plans. Now the toy industry is the second–highest profit maker in Marvel, generating over $20 billion in sales in 2003. The toy business is very promising in the future. However its percentage in revenue will still remain stable or slightly decrease, just as publishing will do, because licensing has such a strong possibility for growth. In addition, while the toy industry competition is too fierce to permit further achievements. (d) To what extent is Marvel's success due to only one character, Spider–Man? How can Marvel develop its lesser–known characters? There is no doubt that, to a great extent, Marvel's success since the 1960s is due to Spider–Man. However, during the 1990s, the company declined despite such a successful superhero. "Exploiting" strategy by significantly increasing the number of titles stretched out consumers' interest. Marvel's new CEO, Peter Cuneo, restructured the company with negative assets and turned the company around. Spider–Man was resuscitated in comic–book sales. The commercials that preceded it gave the impression of it being another stupid cartoon; however, when I began watching, I realized important issues were being covered through the repeated behaviors and actions of its characters, through the influences these actions could have on the viewers, through the reinforcement and rejections of certain stereotypes, through the long–term effects that could result from watching the program, and through its reflection of social reality. Some of the repeated behaviors and actions of the characters include one of the children (Kenny) dying during each episode (followed by Stan yelling, "Oh, my God! They've killed Kenny" (South ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are both negative and positive influences these repeated behaviors and actions could have on an audience. One negative effect could be the numbing of the viewer to children's deaths: it is such a common occurrence on the show until it is expected. Another effect could be the instilling of negative feelings toward the overweight; the audience could be learning that it is acceptable to verbally attack a person with a weight problem. Also, in a time of AIDS, promotion of sexual promiscuity is a dangerous thing: never have the writers mentioned the use of condoms by Chef during his encounters. Finally, because of the recent advances in genetic research and its awakening of new fears in the public, South Park's parody of the geneticist could further play on people's fears. Despite the potentially negative influences of these behaviors and actions, there could be a positive influence existing in the form of catharsis. American society has suffered from the rules of political correctness, the fear of AIDS, and the fear of knowledge (the fear of going too far into God's domain––thanks to our Puritanical background). Maybe South Park gives us release from repression by allowing us to laugh at the things we fear the most: death, ridicule of our differences by our peers, the contracting of deadly diseases, and advancements in science. Everything was censored from radio and television to books and comics. Comic books had the biggest attack by Dr Frederick Wertham, a German– American psychiatrist in his book "Seduction of The Innocent" published in 1954. He used fear to convince the public that comics increased teen delinquency. He argued so well that congress stepped in and had a subcommittee investigate the effects of comic books on delinquency. His actions lead the industry to becoming nearly extinct. Being pressed in a difficult situation the comic industry evolved, self regulated, regained popularity, and even created social movements for positive reform. His research was fabricated to make it more appealing to the fear of American society, and gain government trust using the terms communism and delinquency in his reports, books, lectures, and testimonies. Dr Wertham's word was respected in the psychological community. Unlike Senator McCarthy whose communist crusade was taking place at the same time, Wertham had research and experience backing his statements. Rather than using superpowers, Batman uses detective abilities that allowed him to solve cases and find perpetrators. ("The History of Comic Books." TheComicBooks.com.) • 22. Comparing Media Images Of Criminological Research Essay iii. Comparing Media Images to Criminological Research The superhero genre is so popular and influential that many studies have been done on its depictions of the groups and the impact it has on a large part of society how it has "become a staple on film, television, and in video games" (Darowski). The genre is so influential in fact, that it dates back all the way to the Ancient Greeks, and possibly even further (Haynes). Every group in history has had their mythologies and epic tales of crime fighters, they just did not call them superheroes. For example, Achilles only had one weakness (his heel) and was by the Greeks definition, considered a hero (greek–gods.org). The same goes for heroes like Perseus, Theseus, and even Heracles. Back then though instead of being changed into a super soldier in a lab by a German scientist or creating a flying metal suit in the desert, these heroes were part god which explained their extra–ordinary abilities. Super crime fighters have always existed, but when comic books began in the 19th century a new set of rules was created to guide their content to be more appropriate than the Greek tales (Coville). "The Comics Code" was a list of regulations regarding the depiction of certain events in comic books maintained by the Comics Magazine Association of America (Nyberg). The Importance Of Comics As A Learning Devices The idea that comics can be used as a learning device is strange to some, but comics can teach kids many important lessons such as reading comprehension, how to act social, and how to engage as a reader or writer. These concepts will help us understand why comics are educational, beneficial and can optimize learning in school and university. Comics broaden our educational understanding especially in adolescence as they are the most asked to read literature. Comics in adolescence have been seen as a distraction more of a learning device. With the money you saved, you and your friends can go out to eat before, and order more drinks at your table at the show. There is not much better than getting dressed up and going out and having a fun night with a group of loved ones. Many people are afraid of going into intimate settings for fear of being picked on by the comedians on stage. I am here to tell you, that the vast majority of comedians do not pick on the crowd. It is already hard enough to get a crowd there, why would they make them not feel comfortable. They do however, interact with the crowd making the show more inclusive. Something that you would not get at an arena or theater show, unless you buy front row tickets. "The audience just becomes an amorphous mass of nothingness for me, there's no intimacy Because in terms of my material.... you should have no more than 300 people at a gig because you need to see the whites of a comedian's ... Edward slowly dragged the body towards the door, extracted the keys from the corpse, and shoved it to the side. He systematically tried all the keys that belonged to the guard and let out a quiet sigh of relief when he heard a light snap from the lock. He was free after months of misery. He began to weep with joy but ceased almost immediately. Those tears would be saved for a different date. Now was the time for his revenge. Sleep was the only thing he cared about at the moment. "This'll be one great story to tell the folks at home," he whispered. "I hope my little girls will enjoy it." For a few seconds, Edward continued to stare at his worst enemies. A few more seconds later, his eyes were glazed and the blood flowing from his wounds suddenly stopped. Edward had perished as a satisfied man and spent his last moments in deep peace. The story that Edward had created spurred the privileged public to open their minds to the world around them. • 32. Jonest Incident Narrative I woke up to the irritating ring of my alarm, the smell of French toast lingering through the air, and the feeling of a spider crawling up my arm. It started out like any other day, but I was wired from the second I woke up, hoping this day would be one to remember. I set my alarm earlier than normal that morning so that I could relax in a hot shower. My sisters beat me to the punch, however, and my shower, per usual, was frigid. I hoped it wasn't an omen for how my day would proceed, but my watering taste buds suggested otherwise. After I showered and got dressed, I went upstairs and finally devoured the French toast I had been smelling all morning. As expected, it tasted like heaven and renewed my excitement for the day. We got the first out, then the second out, and all we had to do was get one more out. Their best hitter was up, and our coach told everyone to scoot back a little. The pitch was thrown, and the kid ripped a shot right in my direction. I froze at first, not knowing what to do. I had a million thoughts racing through my mind, but luckily I just reacted and ran and caught the ball. The crowd went crazy. My teammates and my coaches ran and dog piled me. My heart was beating faster than it ever had. "We won!" was the only thing I could seem to get out of my mouth. My teammates started chanting my name. The most crucial hour of my day was coming to an end, but before we could go home our coaches made us all come into a huddle. The smell of sweaty boys, the roar of the crowd, and the sweet taste of victory–which tasted suspiciously like super–chocolatey brownies–was all I could bring in. Normally after our games, our coach would talk for 10 or 15 minutes about what we could have done better, but this time he said only one thing to us in that huddle: "Well boys, this is definitely a day to ... • 34. A Short Story : A Story? The warm garlic bread scraped and clawed in my throat, begging not to be thrown into the dark dungeon, known as my stomach. Still, I held my nose and swallowed. I tore piece after piece of the garlic bread and plopped them into my mouth, begging myself to swallow. They're still watching, I thought as I grabbed the last piece of garlic bread. My stomach growled telling me it wouldn't take another piece of that forsaken bread. I tried to swallow the bread that was climbing up my throat, but it was no use. At the last possible minute, the bell rang indicating lunch over. Before the bell could clang again, I was already up and running toward the bathroom. 1......2.........3! I barfed in the bathroom sink, seconds away from barfing on the ground. "Well, well, well. It looks like someone couldn't handle some garlic bread." Genevieve smirked when I turned around while whipping the barf off the sides of my cheek. "I think I just ate too much," I murmured. "Really?" Genevieve asked. I nodded in response. "Oh, I forgot to ask, how's your dad?" Genevieve asked. "Gege, don't you remember, her dad's in the psychopathic home." Elizabeth, Genevieve's Bff, reminded her "Why is he there? Could you remind me, Zoey?" Genevieve asked aiming the question at me. I bit my lip, holding back the chubby tears trying to roll down my cheeks. "Nevermind, I remember. • 36. Sound Of Country Music : A Luke Bryan Concert At Wrigley... Guitars were strumming. Vendors were yelling. Voices were singing. You probably do not know what those three things have in common. You may have a rough idea, but not anything about where it was, or what happened there. Here is what I think about when given these three ideas: a Luke Bryan concert at Wrigley Field. Many people groan at the thought of country music, however many others, along with artists, love the sound of country music. As Maren Morris beautifully serenades in her hit,"My Church", "I find my soul revival, singing every single verse. Yeah, I guess that 's my church." This song is about how listening and singing country music relaxes her and makes her forget about all of her problems. I feel the exact same way, though I had ... Music started playing as smoke filled the stage, and silhouettes got in their positions. The one line that everyone recognized in the music was the title of tour,"Kill the lights." One black figure stepped on stage. We all knew who it was. "Wrigley Field! What's Up!" he shouted as everyone started screaming. A song started playing that I did not immediately recognize, though I liked it. I now know this song as,"Rain Is A Good Thing," from his 2009 album,"Doin' My Thing." That song ended, and another one began. Unlike the first one, I immediately recognized this one. "Kick The Dust Up," is one of his most loved songs, one that nearly any fan of his would recognize. Two songs afterward, there was a certain guitar melody that stuck out to me. It also stuck out to everyone else in the arena. We all knew it as,"This Is How We Roll," by Florida Georgia Line. Luke actually sang the bridge for this song with Kelley and Hubbard, so it was just the perfect song to pick. In my opinion, he sang that anthem better than any country duo could have. A few more songs played, when an all too familiar tune came on. I realized that Luke Bryan was giving baseball a country makeover. He did an absolutely stunning, and entertaining, cover of,"Take Me Out To The Ball Game." The only thing that was wrong with it was the fact that he said,"Root for the home team," where anybody at Wrigley ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Political Elements Of Superheros Many comic book superheroes were born in an era of highly intense international tension. The genre of Superheros in American comic books revolve around adventures of powerful superheros using superhuman abilities or weapons, as they act on personal morals through violence. The political elements are evident in the plot: the heroes are in a war with a dangerous enemy, and their morals justify violence to 'protect' those who are in danger. As well as it is a form of entertainment, comic books as a media influenced many, especially young boys and men. The debut of Green Lantern by DC Comics on 1959 featured Hal Jordan, a test pilot who recieved a magic ring to from an alien to be the protector of space sector 2814. To connect that with the Cold war, Soviet Union's Sputnik was launched on 1957 – many politicians exploited this as they spoke of serious consequences this could lead to, unless America took measures to inhance their science and technology. • 38. The Superheroes Of The Comics Once disregarded, comic books have been progressively paving a way to the future without sexism and racism in a time when they are becoming increasingly impactful to young adults. In 1938 Superman debuted and began the future of comic books, creating the two most influential publishers (Adkins). In 1940 Fantomah was introduced as the first female superhero character, though she remained a less popular character in the industry. It wasn't until the early 1960's that Wonder Woman was created, and she became one of the most well–known female heroes among the genres. Since then, more and more women have been depicted as heroes, mostly female versions of themselves. With racism and sexism still a common problem in society, Marvel was the first to announce that they would replace a major male hero completely with a female that has her own origin story, as well as sticking with comics and allowing Falcon, an African American superhero, to take the place of Captain America. Though resulting in mixed reviews, this step has been seen as a dive into the right direction for equality in the comic book industry. For feminism in comic books, it seems they are being pushed in the right directions with two major heroines taking the big screen in their own shows. The last female superhero to have her very own television show was Wonder Woman in 1975, 27 years ago (Polo). • 40. The Value Net For Marvel Studios Co–opetition/Value Net The value–net for Marvel Studios is very large and diversified. We will focus this discussion in two key market segments. These are 1) the superhero film genre and includes competing properties from DC Comics characters produced by Warner Brothers as well as other Marvel character films produced by 20th Century Fox and Sony Pictures who have licensed the rights to the Fantastic Four, X–Men, and Spider–Man 2) the new market of toy and video game convergence pioneered by the Skylanders in which Disney's Infinity has recently launched the ability to play as Marvel characters. The superhero film genre has been around a long time with several reboots of staple characters such as Batman, Spiderman, and Superman over the years. However, they had limited box office success and their appeal did not appear to translate readily to the mass market. However, through the success of both Marvel Studios and its rivals, this trend appears to be changing. In fact, Chris Nolan's Batman trilogy had a combined worldwide box office of $2.46 Billion and "The Avengers" $1.51 Billion.
