1. Colleagues:
We are working on new media and technology initiatives for the district and want to know if you
would be willing to join us in our e5 Vision. We want to form a group of teachers who are excited
about incorporating technology into the classroom to meet on a monthly basis to discuss and
learn about new educational technology tools and help determine where the district needs to go,
technology-wise.
Other than these monthly meetings, you would be a part of two events, (pending grant approval).
First, we want to host a four day “Digicamp” for incoming 4th – 6th graders June 20-23, 2011. You
would serve as counselors at the camp and get some hands on experience with web 2.0 tools in
a relaxed environment, and you would be paid $150 a day for working the camp (8 am – 2 pm).
You may not work with this age group on a daily basis, but the tools we will teach students can be
used with all grade levels. The other big event is the TCEA conference in Austin, February 8-10,
2012. You would get to attend this 3 day conference to hear about how others are incorporating
technology into their classrooms and schools…all expenses paid, of course.
We realize that you have so many things to do already, but we want to make this something that
is truly productive for your students and your campus. The world outside school has changed,
and if the world inside school does not, then students will not truly be prepared for the future.
Let us know what you think. We are working on the grant and want to include you as a team
member on the application. Feel free to ask questions if you have any.
Thanks so much,
Jennifer Grimm & Jessica Webb
