There are vast amounts of things I’ve learned throughout my English Composition class.
I am content with this course, as I feel that I have become very knowledgeable when it comes to
correctly citing, critical thinking, and professionally typing an essay. I did have a bit of trouble
when trying to properly create an in-text citation. When making the citation, I incorrectly added
the author and forgot to add a ‘hanging indention’. I did some research and from what my
instructor provided us as help, I ended up creating my in-text citation the accurate way.
When I first started this course, I expected much more reading (poetry, fiction, or non-
fiction) and tons of critical essays. In fact, my instructor focused more on me adding my opinion
on the assignments, while I was instructed to focus on my findings. I feel like this class has in
fact met my expectations, because I’ve learned things that I have remembered for my future
assignments. I knew there were things I needed to work on, but I now know a lot more when it
comes to writing a professional essay.
My confidence was pretty high at the beginning of this course; English was and still is
my favorite subject, so I figured that I wouldn’t have any trouble passing this class. As I was
being critiqued, I knew there were more flaws than I thought. The first assignment’s directions
were pretty clear, and I thought that it would be a breeze. But when I was typing there were
things that I ended up rushing on and my first grade for that assignment shows. As the weeks
passed, I took my time when reading the instructions and lectures, being careful to do everything
correctly. I was extremely disappointed with my first grade and I was striving to get an A+.
Thoroughly looking over my assignments to understand my tasks really improved my grades
later on through the month. I felt more confident in completing my homework and assignments.
Another thing I noticed about my skills was that my phraseology has improved a lot. I used to
get frustrated because I couldn’t find a professional word to use for a certain sentence. The last

graded assignment I was received was an A, and I am extremely proud because I worked harder
than before to complete the assignment.
As far as the requirements of the class, I have not fully met them, since the first week was
a bit rough. I didn’t complete my first week and I missed my discussion assignment. If there was
something about this course, I could’ve done better would be completing my every single one of
my assignments on time and paying attention to the due dates. Now that I’ve missed the first
week it was a bit difficult to maintain a decent grade throughout the remainder of this class. I do
not want to slack off anymore because once again, it shows in my grades. My Psychology of
Play course is somewhat similar to English Composition. I used my fluency skills and memory
when reading my lecture assignments. I tend to be a forgetful individual, so I use these
techniques to keep my brain going so that I won’t get off task. I want to keep these habits
throughout the remainder of the school year and after I graduate, and I want to be exceptional in
my work.
