This document provides instructions for Project #2, a fiction writing assignment for an EWRT 30 class. Students must choose one of the stories started in class and revise it into a 5 to 12 page work, demonstrating skills like plot structure, point of view, character development, setting, tone, mood, and dialogue. The project is worth 75 points and will be graded based on standards from in-class writing workshops. Students must submit their completed projects electronically through Kaizena before the due date.

For this project, choose any one story from the three guided-writing projects we began in class.
Your finished project should be between five and twelve pages of revised and edited work that
reflect the skills we practiced in class:
1. Plot structure
2. POV
3. Character and Characterization
4. Setting
5. Tone
6. Mood
7. Use of Dialogue
Grading
Grading will be based on standards we employed in the writing workshop. You can view them
on the website under “Project Assignment,” “Fiction,” and “Fiction Rubric.”
Writing Submissions:
All out of class assignments are to be submitted to me electronically before the class period in
which they are due. They must be submitted through Kaizena. I will read and return work in the
order it is received.
