2. Task 1 - Cover Examples
- The colours contrast and pop a lot
- The design is really modern (low-poly)
- The text is distributed well and match the design theme
- While appearing complex, the design is simple
3. Task 1 - Cont’d
- This cover remains clean and simple without being barren
- There is use of a clean font without any distracting elements
- Sisler’s colour theme (red, black, etc.) can easily be integrated
- The title is more than just a word, It spans most of the cover in a creative way
4. Task 1 - Cont’d
- This cover gives a retro feel without being obvious about it
- The typeface and the image go well together
- The image can easily be replaced with a Spartan head, skewed in the same way
- A theme of red, black, and white could easily be integrated
5. Task 2 - Table of Contents Examples
- The design for this cover matches the geometric theme of the
first cover
-The triangles are arranged in a manner which you can creatively
frame one picture in multiple triangles
-It could be improved by having more vibrant pictures, or other
coloured elements in the negative space
6. Task 2 - Cont’d
- This type of Table of Contents is clean and simple
-The numbers are extended in height which matches the design
theme of the second cover selected
- There are no unnecessary or distracting design elements on the
page
7. Task 2 - Cont’d
- Instead of being minimalistic, this layout uses all of the space
available on the page
- The layout allows for a sneak peek at the pictures to be found in
the upcoming chapters
- I think the colours in this layout could be changed to match
Sisler better
8. Task 3 - Fonts
CODE - Title font
This font is clean and sharp and it would work perfectly for titles in
a geometric or minimalistic theme
Cabin - Body font
Without being too loud, this font is clean and sans serif which
would make good body text for a minimalistic theme
9. Task 3 - Cont’d
Grand Finale - Title font
Grand Finale closely matches the font used on the example cover
and can be creatively extended across the cover in the same way
Liberation Serif - Body font
Since the title isn’t minimalistic in style, a simple serif font would
work well for the body text.
10. Task 3 - Cont’d
Din 1451 - Title font
Din 1451 matches the wide sans serif look used in the third cover
example and is simple and clean
Gravity - Body font
I wanted to choose a light sans serif font to match the feel of the
title font
12. Task 5 - Design Style
I like these designs because the photos are displayed in a dynamic way rather than just in plain rectangles.
The pictures show action and the framing is shaped to accentuate the action. Some things that could be
improved are the text placement and framing of the smaller photos. The colours could easily be made to be
that of Sisler
