Our mandated reading
program is the new
Treasures series.

We will also use many
literature selections.
Writing – 6+1 Traits
Envision math is heavily conceptual
and focuses on problem solving.

There are supplemental
skill sheets to improve
computation.
FOSS Science is a “hands on” program covering
 Life science
 Earth science
 Physical science
California History will
be taught by
Mr. Pratt, room 18.
Students from all 4 fourth grade classes are mixed for
Physical Education, Drama, and Health.

This is 1:00 to
1:30 all days but
Tuesday
 Music instruction is provided by
   The teacher
   Mr. Lawton
   Orchestra
Fourth grader classes are taking field trips together this
year.

Some trips are walking,
most use the bus.

No parent drivers this
year.
Homework is practice for ASSESSED skills.
It may not be necessary to complete every assignment.
When students are absent, they can get homework the
next day OR parents can pick this up after school.

Please do not just show up and ask for homework.
Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 2:30 to 3:30

Students must have completed “Beyond the Bell” form.

Students need to sign in and stay for entire period.

This is a quiet work time and a privilege.
Please send absence notes by email or text. We have to
keep these. Tardies also need notes.

Leaving early is now reported as a tardy even if
excused, e.g., doctor’s appointment.

Unexcused absences now result in letters threatening
legal action. Neither the school nor the teacher can
control this.
Parents are expected to monitor student progress
through the gradebook and to check email regularly.

Written notice of academic problems are only made
when failure or retention is likely.

      student can receive.
 Birthday parties are not encouraged. However, parents
can bring treats at lunch or at 2:20. Please let me know
by 8:00 if you plan to bring treats in the afternoon.
