Asthma is triggered by many things. Most are
triggered by allergies such as:
Pet dander
Exercise
Cold weather
The common cold
Tobacco smoke
Pollution
Pollen
Burning Fires
Dust
Changes in season

Not a contagious
diseases
Usually inherited
Women are more prone
than men
Girls older than 12 are
more likely to have it
than boys
Boys under 12 are more
likely to have asthma
than girls
You are more prone if
your family has a history
of allergies
4. Symptoms
Cough with or without mucus
Pulling in of the skin between the
ribs when breathing
Shortness of breath that gets
worse with exercise or activity
Wheezing
Comes in episodes
May be worse at night or in
early morning
May go away on its own
Gets better when using drugs
that open the airways
Gets worse when breathing in
cold air
Gets worse with exercise
Usually begins suddenly
Emergency symptoms:
Bluish color to the lips
and face
Drowsiness or confusion
during an asthma attack
Extreme difficulty

Rapid pulse
Severe anxiety due to
shortness of breath
Sweating
5. Treatment
Asthma may be treated with two kinds of medication
Long-acting medications: preventatives and do not treat the
disease.
Flovent and Advair: Both are inhaled, however Advair contains
steroids and bronchodilators, while Flovent only contains
steroids.
Quick-relief medications: generally used everyday.
Get rid of symptoms during an asthma attack
Inhaler or nebulizer
methylprednisolone may be intravenously injected into a patient.
Can be provoked in some patients by taking NSAIDs,
nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
Having allergy tests are beneficial
Help eliminate the source of asthma
