1. Task 3 - A critical reflection with correct grammatical structures and
accurate vocabulary.
From my opinion, society nowadays is ever so ready to point fingers at
the helpless young mother guilty of baby dumping. I do not believe she would
have resorted to such a desperate act if her partner was there for her, if her
parents forgave her, and if her community showed some sympathy for her and
her unborn child.
To produce a baby, it takes two people to let it happen. But in almost
every news article about teenage pregnancies and baby dumping, we would
hardly see any mention of the baby’s father. When it comes to the solution, we
talk about setting up a school for pregnant teenagers, a shelter for pregnant
unmarried mothers, even there is a baby hatch was launched by Orphan Care on
May 29 last year in Petaling Jaya.
Thus, from the announcement from the Cabinet with the decision to
classify baby dumping as murder, which mean mostly the unwed teen mother is
the one would be the “murderer” because she is the one left holding the baby.
Why is there this reluctance to involve the man responsible? Why we would
hardly hear about teaching them to be responsible and accountable?
Baby dumping is one of the growing and alarming social problem.
Hence, to treat baby dumping as murder case will not solve this social problem.

2. But through sex education, safe sex and the use of contraceptives might help to
reduce this problem.
Have we ever think that actually the baby dumpers are scared,
ignorant and already in enough pain. A death sentence will end up the pain and
suffering, but it won’t change the fact that a baby was killed. In this case, all
parties are involved indirectly in preventing the dumping behaviour.
