3. Yeshukhai (Temujins father) was the army
chief of Mongolian soldiers.
Yeshukhai had 7 children out of which
Genghis khan was the 2nd.
History says that Ghengis khan was not
educated.
Whatever he learned was from the observation
he made during wars and lessons from his
mother.
4. Temüjin's early life was difficult.
While he was 9 years old his father was killed
by Turkish soldiers who had long been
Mongol enemies.
Upon seeing this, Temüjin returned home to
claim his father's position as chief. But the
tribe refused this and abandoned the family,
leaving it without protection.
5. For the next several years, the family lived in
poverty, surviving mostly on fruits.
When he was 16 he forcefully married
daughter of the tribes head as a revenge.
Temujin's older half-brother Begter began to
exercise power as the eldest male in the
family, since Temujin wasn’t happy with it he
killed his elder brother to gain power.
6. His early life was a difficult struggle for
survival, which hardened him and made him a
supreme warrior. Genghis’s first efforts were to
conquer all the Mongolian tribes, who had
never come together as one people before.
Genghis Khan is considered to be one of the
greatest rulers the world has seen.
Genghis Khan created this fast-spreading
empire which ruled from the islands of Japan
all across Asia to Eastern Europe and included
China, Russia, Hungary, Iran, the Middle East,
Mongolia and Indochina.
7. Within less time he had a army of 80000 men and waged a
war against Turkish empire.
He started conquering and by the end of his life time he had
conquered almost 24.0 million km area.
He was responsible for the deaths of as many as 40 million
people.
He created one of the first international postal systems.
Genghis Khan left behind an army of more than 129,000
men; 28,000 were given to his various brothers and his
sons. Tolui, his youngest son, inherited more than 100,000
men.
8. Leadership style of Genghis Khan
Autocratic leadership was the style of
leadership which he followed. Autocratic
leadership, also known as authoritarian
leadership where an individual control over all
decisions. Autocratic leaders typically make
choices based on their ideas and judgments
and rarely accept advice from followers.
9. Facts that support his leadership style
After marrying tribal chiefs daughter he himself
declared him as their chief and killed all the others who
opposed him.
Genghis Khan, demanded control of the trade relations
with the Khwarizm dynasty which controlled
Turkestan, Persian and Afghanistan. When Shah
Muhammad refused he went and attacked whole
kingdom.
In order to abolish the causes of tribal warfare, he
abolished inherited aristocratic titles.
10. To keep the men of the army exercised, a great hunt
was held every winter. On this account, it is forbidden
any man of the empire to kill from the month of March
to October , deer, bucks, roe-bucks, hares, wild ass and
some birds.
Every man who does not go to war must work for the
empire, without reward, for a certain time.
He also made livestock theft punishable by death.
