TYPES OF
ECOSYSTEM
ECOSYSTEM
• An ecosystem is a community of living
organisms in conjunction with
the nonliving components of their
environment (things like air, water and
mineral soil), interacting as a system
TYPES OF ECOSYSTEM
Forest Ecosystem
Ocean Ecosystem
Grassland Ecosystem
Tundra Ecosystem
Wetland Ecosystem
Desert Ecosystem
FOREST ECOSYSTEM
• A forest ecosystem is a community of
organisms that lives within a forest.
• A forest is usually defined as a large group of
trees.
OCEAN ECOSYSTEM
• Ocean ecosystems are also called marine
ecosystems.
• It is made up of a community of living and
nonliving things found in a localized area in
any ocean.
GRASSLAND ECOSYSTEM
• A grassland ecosystem is a community of
creatures such as various types of grasses,
insects, animals etc. living together within a
grassy space.
TUNDRA ECOSYSTEM
• Tundra is a major zone of treeless level or
rolling ground found in cold regions.
• It have less number of wildlife and plants.
WETLAND ECOSYSTEM
• A wetland is a land area that is saturated with
water, either permanently or seasonally.
• The main wetland types include swamps,
marshes, bogs, and fens.
DESERT ECOSYSTEM
• A desert is a barren area of landscape where
little precipitation occurs and consequently
living conditions are hostile for plant and
animal life.
QUESTIONS
• What is ecosystem ?
• Which is the largest ecosystem?
• What are the different types of ecosystem?
• What are the characteristics of wetland
ecosystem ?
• Which types of organisms are found in desert
ecosystem?
• What are the features of grassland
ecosystem?
FOLLOW UP ACTIVITIES
1. Visit and observe any ecosystem nearest in
your home and write the features of that
ecosystem?
2. Collect the pictures of different ecosystems
and prepare an album?
