A. Description of the class:
LEVEL: Uper- intermediate
A mixed group of students, students between the ages of 18-25.
The class takes place from 3:00 to 4:30 On Mondays.
B. Objectives:
1. To use expressions of opinion.
2. To identify the different types of phrasal verbs.
3. To learn how some verbs are used with gerunds and infinitives.
4. To use adjectives to describe incidents and events.
C. Contents:
OBJECTIVE 1: USING EXPRESSIONS OF OPINION (Estimated time: 25 minutes)
a. Context: Some statements about friendship.
b. Grammar: Explain to the students the use of some expressions of opinion.
c. Activity: Students have to listen carefully to teacher in order to use different expressions to
give their own opinion; students have to use the following expression:
As far as I’m concerned, …
In my opinion, …
From my experience, …
d. Language: relationships
OBJECTIVE 2: IDENTYFING DIFFERTENT TYPES OF PHRASAL VERBS (Estimated time: 20
minutes)
a. Grammar: Explain to the students what a phrasal verb is, and some patterns of these using
examples.
b. Activity: Students have to complete some questions with these phrasal verbs.
1. Which of your friends do you __________ ___________ with the best? Why?
2. When you’re feeling down, do you have a special friend who can always ___________
you ___________?
3. If you’re in a situation where other people are criticizing you, do you have a good

OBJECTIVE 3: LEARNING SOME VERBS USED WITH GERUNDS AND INFINITIVES (Estimated
time: 20 minutes)
a. Grammar: Explain to the students the use of gerund and infinitive constructions.
b. Activity 1: Students have to complete some sentences with the gerund or the infinitive of
the verbs.

3. OBJECTIVE 4: USING ADJECTIVES TO DESCRIBE INCIDENTS AND EVENTS (Estimated time: 20
minutes)
a. Grammar: Explain to the students which adjectives have a positive meaning, and which have
a negative meaning.
b. Activity 1: Students receive a sheet of paper where there is an adjective, then they have to
use this adjective to describe some social situation.

Activity 2: Students receive a sheet of paper where there is a statement about the rules of
the dating game, they have to give their opinion using adjectives.
The man should always pay for the date. Some things should never change.
A woman should never approach a man first. She should always be the one who’s
invited.
It’s inadvisable to talk about your problems at the beginning of a relationship.
Don’t say things like”Can I see you again tomorrow? ” Play it cool. Don’t make it
appear that you’re desperate.
To avoid awkward situations, let your family know where you’re going and when you’ll
be back.
It’s better to go out with groups of friends in the beginning.
Most blind dates tend to be disastrous, so it’s best to avoid them.
It’s indiscreet to ask personal questions until you get to know each other.
