Air Pollution
Introduction–
(Attention Getter) When people think about air pollution, they usually think about smog, acid rain,
and other forms of outdoor air pollutants. But did you know that air pollution can exist inside homes
and buildings? In the article "Air Pollution Fatalities Now Exceed Traffic Fatalities by 3 to 1",
Bernie Roberts (2002) says that 70,000 people die each year from the effects of air pollution. This
outrageous number of people dying is because of human activities that release substances into the
air that cause health problems. (Credibility & Relevancy) Nobody wants to die because of polluted
air, and this wish is shared by...show more content...
B. Possible Solution #2: Another solution to air pollution is cautiously using any kind of chemicals.
1. Detailed Explanation: People need to buy and use products that are environmentally friendly,
natural, and/or non–toxic for cleaning, painting, and hygiene. For example, you could use vinegar
and water instead of Windex and other bleach or chlorine–based cleaners around your house. This is
not only cheaper but also safer for people and their pets.
2. Evidence: According to the National Council for Science and the Environment's article "Air
Pollution Causes and Effects" (2011), people should buy products that come in pump–spray bottles
instead of aerosols, buy low–solvent paints, and keep chemicals tightly sealed to prevent home air
pollution.
3. Drawbacks: A drawback for this solution is the products that people want to use may not come in
environmentally friendly containers, or the harmful ones may be cheaper and easier to find than the
"green" choices.
C. Possible Solution #3: A third solution to air pollution is recycling.
1. Detailed Explanation: People should recycle their paper and plastics instead of burning or
sending trash to the dump. Burning trash made of certain plastics and chemicals can cause toxic
smoke and air pollution. Also, just throwing away your waste only adds to our Earth's litter and land
and water pollution problems.
2. Evidence: We can decrease and prevent air pollution by recycling materials

We will not have to worry about going outside and inhaling toxic fumes that are out of our control.
2. Detailed Explanation #2: A law preventing or limiting the emission of poisonous fossil fuel will
improve the air outside, and if the outside air is less or not polluted, the air inside our homes will
also be healthier, with or without our use of natural or "green" products. a. Life/liberty: With this
option you would have a choice as to whether or not you want or can afford to purchase and use
"green" products. b. Logos: If we write to our local representatives and show support of such a
law, we can ensure a healthier future for everyone. 3. Detailed Explanation #3: The decrease or
elimination of fossil fuels through law does not require every single household to complete a long
list of recycling requirements. a. Environment/Safety: By creating and enforcing a law to decrease
and prevent air pollution, the physical damage that people cause the Earth and the illnesses and
eventual death these activities cause mankind can stop. b. Logos: The reduction of fossil fuel
emissions over one year by a law such as this is 15 times more helpful to the environment than
recycling alone. Conclusion: (Summary/Review) Air pollution has many negative effects on people,
the Earth, plants, and other living organisms. In addition to being ugly, it can cause illness and
eventually death. Clean air is important because we cannot live without it!

This Has To Stop! Each year in America, at least 400,000 Americans lose their lives to cigarettes.
This is at least one out of every five Americans. This epidemic is growing on a daily basis.
Smoking can damage your body tremendously. Smoking can damage your lungs, brain, and heart.
Smoking is a problem not only for human beings, but for America as a whole. Smoking pollutes the
air. Cigarettes are made from 4,000 different chemical compounds and 400 toxic substances.
Smoking is also bad for America because of "second–hand smoke". We roam around in a universe
polluted by smoke. This is why smoking cigarettes is a problem. Smokers need to realize that they
are not only damaging themselves, but the others around them as...show more content...
The benefits of quitting smoking are great. When you quit you will realize that your general health
improves. How can we help people stop smoking? Many solutions could be put into effect. The
price for cigarettes should be more expensive and nicotine patches, medicines, chewing gum, and
electronic cigarettes should be less expensive. Many countries are controlling smoking by banning
smoking in bars, restaurants, hotels, and many other places. America should take banning smoking
more serious. Anti–smoking laws can also be used to regulate cigarette advertising by tobacco
companies. In South Africa for instance, cigarette advertising is banned Most people who smoke
hardly have any idea of the end result of their smoking habit. Information of the smoking must be
made widely available especially to teen smokers. More smoking solutions would also include
massive stop smoking campaigns via TV, radio, internet, billboards, SMS and over medium can also
be effective in communicating the stop smoking message. Other methods especially to do with teens
would be for parents and guardians, schools, and other authorities to spend more time with the young
people to understand their behavioral patterns. This would help to quickly identify changes induced
by tobacco smoking. I truly feel that these solutions could change the amount of smokers in America.
Last but least, smoking needs to stop. We as Americans need to reverse this growing epidemic into a

Problem Solution Essay On Abortion

May, 28 2017 Problem–solution Essay Whenever anyone ever brings up abortion, it 's clearly a
very opinionated subject. Opinions coming from all. Meaning men and women of a wide age
range raised to learn and believe all sorts of religions. Even though this procedure is clearly only
done to females, clearly. Everything about this topic is important, because depending on the side he
or she is for pro–life or the opposite it 's all based off of the personal things that happened to them
or around them. So to actually understand whether abortions should be legal you'll have to look at
all the pieces that make up a hole. More so by using facts from the past present. I 'm pretty sure the

There funds mostly come from Medicaid reimbursements for preventive care, and some is from Title
X. This is one of the reasons there organization is so successful. Quoted from
plannedparenthoodaction.org it says, "At least 60% of Planned Parenthood patients rely on public
health programs like Medicaid and Title X for their preventive and primary care. So, when you
hear extreme politicians talking about "defunding" planned parenthood they really mean blocking
patients who rely on public health care programs from getting their care at Planned Parenthood
centers"( Berg). Basically stating that because they focus on the more low income individuals this
brings more people to the organization . But that big part that their organization is based on is
currently being threatened by people who view a different point of view. Connecting me to my
next step. Age, race, religion and gender all being apart of the topic maybe it affects it as well.
There 's a big racial gap between all races but www.Theatlantic.com writes, " An African–American
woman is almost five times likelier to have an abortion than a white woman, and a Latina more than
twice as likely, according to the center for disease control and prevention"(Dutton). Clearly this
proves modern day stereo types rite which is sad. All women of all races have beliefs some state
things like how " abortion is a sin" or others grew up to have more of a literal less tradition outlook

Problem solving is a universal process that allows us to make decisions on everything from what to
eat and what to wear. These steps contain the necessary knowledge that has been constructed
through previous life experiences. Without sufficient experience the supports designed to
strengthen our choices are weakened ending in the ultimate failure of the problem. There are many
different strategies that good problem solvers use to solve a problem. The steps of the problem
solving process are systematic and organized. First, take your time and identify the problem very
carefully. Do the research, and become informed about your subject. Few good problem solvers
solve problems fast. Life choices need to be supported with well thought–out...show more content...
It is without doubt that humans will encounter problems that limit access to a preferred want or
need at sometime during their lives and this was no different in my own life. Researchers D'Zurilla
and Goldfried (1971) define a problem as "any life situation or task that demands a response for
adaptive or effective functioning" (415). My life situation in question became deciding between
attending school leading to future desired payoffs or working a menial full–time job that would not.
The first step in the problem solving process, allowed me to identify the problem. A situation can
be perceived or thought of as problematic when an individual encounters situations disturbs them or
they find that it keeps them from a goal (Bingham, 1999). The problem surfacing in affording an
education and paying for everyday necessities became the central focus at that point in my life and
defined the problem that needed an immediate response. The problem solving process can best be
defined as the best way to overcome obstacles in situations and the steps used to help overcome them
(Peterson et al., 2002). The second step, sort out information that is not needed provided clarity
during times in which the process seemed overwhelming. This called for a potential solution, a
desired outcome and how to get there. The research that had initially been part of the formulating
method had sparked an interest in the military. This idea was supported by the benefits that
outweighed

The Problem Of Suicide And Suicide Essay
Day to day, teens suffer from peer pressure, problem from home, and stress from academics. Despise
their status in the environment, majority of high school students refrain from acknowledging the
presence of their reality. The problem in most situations in that students feel shut in, trapped in a
never ending misery. How do they cope? What are their ways of dealing? Most students live in
denial. Others have friends to confide in. For the devastating part, most students are not as open to
these ideas and it leaves them with this alternative: suicide. Suicide is the third leading cause in
teens the ages 14 to 19 within rural underserved areas. Suicidal ideation (SI), suicidal thoughts,
were surveyed in over 12 high schools and it was found that in the past year, thoughts of (SI) were
not shared with peers or even adults in the pursuit of receiving help or support (Pisani, 2012).
Because a student spends most of their day at school, it is ideal for schools to provide realistic
opportunities and school–based programs to assist with the suicide among the youth. The Surviving
the Teens Suicide Prevention and Depression Awareness Program designed four 50 minute session
or each high school student. This presented information in regards to factual information about
depression, suicidal warning signs, suicidal risk factors and myths associated with suicide (King,
2010). The program provide coping strategies for everyday life, referral sources if feeling suicidal,

Essay on The Psychology of Problem Solving
Where there is a problem there is a solution. No matter how complicated nor how elusive the
solution is one is always there. Problems are the basis of jobs and careers: restaurants for hunger,
movies and video games for boredom, news for information etc. However, with basic problems
that have a set solution there are a variety of ways to solve it. Working backwards, although
slightly different, is a widely used and very effective way of solving problems. 1 (Referring to page
"Problem I") Most people would look at this problem and would loathe solving it because it would
involve creating a long complicated algebraic problem. Using the method of working backwards
even a child who hasn't learned algebra can solve the same problem and...show more content...
2 Heuristics are rules of thumb that can help us to reach a solution to a problem, typically when
facing complex problems or incomplete information. These rules work well under most
circumstances. They can also be considered shortcuts. However, heuristics can cause cognitive
biases. Having a cognitive bias can significantly affect the scientific method or ABCDE's of
problem solving. For example, "if the problem is "When do you eat food?", if you answer, "When
I'm hungry" then you would have to eat immediately every single time you were hungry. Instead,
we follow heuristics to determine when to eat by gauging our hunger level, the situation we are
in, and our ability to get food." The basis of problem solving is called the ABCDE's. Assess the
problem, Brainstorm approaches to the problem, Choose an approach that seems most likely to
work, Do it, try the most likely approach, Evaluate the results. To assess the problem means to
dissect the problem and see what it's all about. In order to sole the problem effectively one must
assess what kind of problem it is. Brainstorming approaches is the action of spontaneous creation of
ideas that pertain and could solve the problem. The more ideas produced the more "cushion" you

Life's Problems Essay
Life's Problems Life is full of problems, but how we approach those problems often determines
whether we're happy or miserable. Bob Maynard says, "Problems are opportunities in disguise." If
we approach problems with Maynard's attitude, we see that problems are really opportunities to
learn about others and ourselves. They enable us to live happier and more fulfilling lives. Maynard's
quote applies to all kinds of problems. I faced a problem just last week when our family's kitchen
sink developed a serious leak. There was water all over our kitchen floor and piles of dishes to be
washed. But our landlord was out of town for the week. I come from a big family–I have six
brothers and sisters–so we couldn't afford to wait until...show more content...
Whatever kind of situation we face, problems give us the chance to learn and grow, both physically
and mentally. For example, when I had a problem with my car and couldn't the repairs right away,
my problem become an opportunity to get some exercise–something I'd been waiting to do anyway. I
had to walk a mile each day to get to the bus stop and back. But in the meantime, I got the chance
to start getting back in shape, and I saved a lot on gas. I've come to realize that problems are
really part of what makes life worth living. Problems challenge us and give us the opportunity to
do things we've never done before, to learn things we never knew before. They give us the chance
to surprise ourselves. Just the word "problem" can send some of us into a panic. But problems
can be good things, too. Problems are situations that make us think and force us to be creative and
resourceful. They can also teach us things we didn't know before. For example, I had a problem in
school a few years ago when I couldn't understand my math class. I started failing my quizzes and
homework assignments. I wasn't sure what to so, so finally I went to the teacher and asked for help.
She said she would arrange for me to be tutored by another student who was her best student. In
return, though, I'd have to help that student around school. I wasn't sure what she

Developing A Solution For A National Problem
It is always a challenge to developing a solution to a national problem that targets all aspects of
the issue . Not every proposed solution can solve the entire problem; however, it can at least
effectively help alleviate some of the stemming issues that originate from the main problem. In
South Korea, a prevalent social issue that exists are the negative perceptions towards sex workers
by the Korean community and the substandard working conditions that sex workers are financially
coerced to work in. While some women join the business voluntary, other are forced into it ;
however, when it comes to judging them all are judge the same without knowing their reasons of
why they are in that situation in the first place. There is a need to...show more content...
South Korean is one of the few developed countries that has a major issue with prostitution, it needs
solutions to help sex workers working in awful conditions and needs to intervene early to prevent
other girls to join the illicit business. Currently, the country ranks number two in the list with most
sex workers (Wahab). The high number of sex Korean workers comes as part of the high demand
from local Korean mean and foreigners. In a Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation video, foreign men
see Korean women as easy to get and contribute to the degrading view of sex working women (http:/
/koreabridge.net/video/mbcs–shocking–reality–about–relationships–foreigners). Although,
prostitution is illegal in Korea it is easy to obtain sexual services in exchange for money. The issues
that arises from having the prevalence of 8prostitution is the formation of negative stereotypical
views on Korean sex workers and the continuation of poor labor conditions . While many South
Korean women freely join the industry, others are forced into it due to a variety of reasons. It is
unfair that women forced to be indentured sexual servants are victimized and still have to live
through the harsh treatment of society, governmental regulations and work in awful conditions. And
when comes down to label sex workers, they are placed degrading tags on them without
understanding their reasons on how they got stuck in

Management Problems and Solutions Essay
ABSTRACT: Regularly management seeks to correct organizational deficiencies in order to align
the organization to be more efficient, effective, and economical. They may opt to perform total
quality management, lean six sigma, or simply downsize. Management may even identify symptoms

a problem and proposing possible solutions. The problem can affect a large group of people in a

For my introduction, I started by writing a thesis statement. My thesis statement stated the problem
of class registration at Normandale, and then introduced the four possible solutions; this gave the
reader a brief summary of what to expect. To organize my body paragraphs, I wrote out my first
topic sentence to define the problem, and then followed with four topic sentences for my four
solutions. Finally, I rewrote my thesis so I could restate it in my conclusion. After organizing the
introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion, I was ready to write my first draft.
The purpose of my introduction was to interest the reader, and give them a brief background on the
essay. The introductory paragraphs consisted of a hook, background information on the problem
and why it is occurring, and then my thesis statement. My essay started with a direct quote I
discovered when researching. I then explained the importance of the quote, and followed with my
thesis. Also, I used correct MLA format when citing the direct quote in my paper. It's important to
cite all sources correctly otherwise it will be penalized as plagiarism. Once my introduction was
complete, I began writing the body paragraphs.
The main purpose of my body paragraphs were to explain and support my thesis. For my body
paragraph on the problem, I made sure to explain the problem of registration, give an example, and
then state who the problem affected. I then started the

Overfishing: The Problem and the Solution
A major environmental problem that has developed over the last few years is overfishing. What is
overfishing? Overfishing is simply what it sounds like. Overfishing occurs when fishermen are
catching fish so quickly and at such high rates that the fish are unable to reproduce fast enough to
replenish the population. It is my belief that, if this has not always been a problem, it has always
been a problem in the making. This problem has progressively gotten worse as the human population
that relies on fish as a food resource has increased and the equipment and techniques used by the
fishermen have...show more content...
Some of the actions that can be taken in order to reverse the problems that overfishing has caused
include: inform the public, put restrictions on catch limits, reduce bycatch, protect habitats, and
enforce all new policies. The following plan lays out the steps that will occur with each action and
when these actions should be taken.
Action Items:
Inform the public including consumers and fishermen of the problems and what can be done to
make a change.
Action Steps:
Research and identify the long term effects that overfishing will have.
Conduct interviews with both environmentalists and experts on the issue as well as fishermen in
order to present both sides of the argument.
Attend a city council meeting to introduce the idea and the importance of a presentation as well as
schedule a time for one to be made.
Present information on what overfishing is, the impact that overfishing has on the marine ecosystem
and on our existence, make consumers more aware of the type and amount of fish that they eat, and
actions that can be taken to reverse the problem.

I Am A Problem Solving Skills
Today in class I learned a lot about problem solving and how to have good problem solving skills.
Having good problem solving skills is an important skill every single person should have. We run
into problems every day that we need to be able to figure out on our own. I wouldn't say I am a
bad problem solver, but I would definitely say that my problem solving skills could improve. In
order to have good problem solving skills, you need to have good critical thinking skills as well.
Today in class, I learned the seven components that make up good critical thinking skills. Those
seven components are knowledge (recall information); comprehension (understand the significance
of the information); application (make practical use of the understood...show more content...
Learning about problem solving is going to help me significantly if I correctly follow the four
major steps. With that said, these four steps are defining the problem; devise (gather and interpret
information); implement a plan of action; and evaluate the plan for effectiveness. The step I
struggle with the most is evaluating the plan for effectiveness. I always know how I can solve
the problem, but it isn't always the most effective way to go about it, and then I am stuck. So,
learning about how to solve a problem the most effective way is really going to help me out every
day. Currently, I am trying to solve all these problems that are going to affect my future, either
negatively or positively. With that said, I also learned seven strategies to problem solving. These
seven strategies are going to help me tremendously right now and I can't wait to put them to work
and, hopefully, I will be less stressed with all of these decisions if I use these strategies correctly.
The seven problem solving strategies I learned today are keeping a positive attitude; ask
questions; use creativity; pay attention to detail; see all sides of the issue; remember that
persistence pays off; and to use reasoning. If I keep all these strategies in mind, solving all the
problems I have right now will not be as bad and they may even come easier. Another important
thing I learned in class today was common errors in judgment. There

I have a small group of friends that get into arguments, sometimes going so far as to cut

like this online exclusively, a medium where disregard for another person's feelings is normal,

way to get rid of the toxicity was to prevent it from entering altogether and strip everyone of
their ability to comment. The people who have to endure this, those who want to participate in
the discussion and content creators alike, are forced to go through several of these comments on
a daily basis, holding out for a single interesting point to be raised or a proper critique of
whatever they indulge in. This kind of exchange is emotionally taxing on those who do care and
only serves to add to the negativity.
This kind of attitude, the one that permits people to behave as rudely as they please
without a second thought for the other person behind the screen does not stem from a previous
time period, but something that is inherent to the internet. The internet, in allowing people to
communicate from behind their monitors, creates anonymity. Anonymity allows people to
express their opinions, be they intentionally hurtful or not, freely and with as much anger and
vitriol as they feel is necessary. This is not the only factor at play however. "Being able to

Problem Solution Essay: Reducing College Debt
"Statewide, graduates of Ohio's more than 200 colleges and Universities carry some of the highest

continues to rise; unfortunately, three solutions have been offered which range from planning,
scholarships, and community college. The cost of colleges increasing, leaving a large amount of

works 20 hours per week(more during the summer, less during the school year) and saves $6 per
hour" will save about "$24, 960"(Steinberg 13). Furthermore, this would provide the student with
enough money to complete college debt free. After the student could attend grad school with extra

Teen Depression Problem Solution Essay
Have you ever felt completely and totally worthless? Like nothing you can do could ever right the
wrongs that have been done? Like you're not good at anything you do? Like everybody hates
you? Like you're completely alone? The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that about
121 million people worldwide have felt these emotions before due to some form of depression;
however, less than 25 percent have access to effective treatment [source: WHO]. Even though many
people don't realize it, there is an abhorrent problem with depression among teens in the United
States. In fact, "11% of adolescents have a depressive disorder by age 18," according to the
National Institute of Mental Health's website. This statistic may not seem like a lot,...show more

Expectations are very high in many aspects of their lives, and to live up to those expectations,
they occasionally must sacrifice doing things they want to do for things that have to do." This
could be another main contributor to depression. If you look at little kids playing, they're
laughing and happy, because they're doing what they love, but if you look at teens and adults,
you rarely see them playing. If you ask a teenager why they aren't playing, they'll usually grumble,
"I don't have time, I have too much homework." Homework usually starts picking up around 6th
or 7th grade; depression rates triple between the ages of 12 and 15. Maybe if teens were less
stressed with homework and such, they could do more things they enjoy, and maybe they'd be
less depressed. A second way to help prevent and/ or cure this crippling disease is to ensure people
get a proper night's sleep. Don't you love the feeling after a long, relaxing, refreshing night's
sleep? You might be thinking, "Sure, but how does that help with depression?" Well, Chris
Iliades, MD says that, "Teens whose parents set a 10 p.m bedtime (and enforce it) are 25% less
likely to experience teenage depression... according to a study of data from 15,000 adolescents."
The potential benefits of this solution could be huge; being able to cure the crushing effects of
depression by sleeping seems like a simple and easy thing to do, yet how simple is

Illegal Immigration Problem Solution
Immigration Problem Solution Essay
Illegal immigration is becoming overwhelming in the United States. Many people are getting across
the border illegally so they can either find a better life for themselves or their children. When these
people immigrate it is normally due to the process of becoming a citizen taking too long and causing
them to become impatient or they're just not allowed at all. The United States has a problem with
illegal immigration and since this is a problem a couple solutions should be planned and worked on.
Today in the United States there seems to be a problem with getting a visa for those who want to
migrate to the U.S. legally and easily. If it were to be made effortless to enter then less people
would risk their lives trying to enter illegally. The border is easy enough to bypass that it
"encourages dangerous crossings" for people who just want in for an easy life for themselves or
their children (Walker and Zuckerman 1). The simplicity of getting a visa and immigrating with
it should be improving over time like technology does all over the world. If the border were to be
improved it can prevent many crossings and force them to "find legal" ways on immigrating into
the country (Walker and Zuckerman 2). The easier it is to cross the border, the more that will do
attempt it for an easier life. This can be a problem on monitoring who is immigrating into the U.S.
and if they're peaceful beings or terrorists. If they are terrorists and they pass

Good Topics For A Problem Solution Essay

  • 1. Problem Solution Essay a Yasmin Leal Air Pollution Introduction– (Attention Getter) When people think about air pollution, they usually think about smog, acid rain, and other forms of outdoor air pollutants. But did you know that air pollution can exist inside homes and buildings? In the article "Air Pollution Fatalities Now Exceed Traffic Fatalities by 3 to 1", Bernie Roberts (2002) says that 70,000 people die each year from the effects of air pollution. This outrageous number of people dying is because of human activities that release substances into the air that cause health problems. (Credibility & Relevancy) Nobody wants to die because of polluted air, and this wish is shared by...show more content... B. Possible Solution #2: Another solution to air pollution is cautiously using any kind of chemicals. 1. Detailed Explanation: People need to buy and use products that are environmentally friendly, natural, and/or non–toxic for cleaning, painting, and hygiene. For example, you could use vinegar and water instead of Windex and other bleach or chlorine–based cleaners around your house. This is not only cheaper but also safer for people and their pets. 2. Evidence: According to the National Council for Science and the Environment's article "Air Pollution Causes and Effects" (2011), people should buy products that come in pump–spray bottles instead of aerosols, buy low–solvent paints, and keep chemicals tightly sealed to prevent home air pollution. 3. Drawbacks: A drawback for this solution is the products that people want to use may not come in environmentally friendly containers, or the harmful ones may be cheaper and easier to find than the "green" choices. C. Possible Solution #3: A third solution to air pollution is recycling. 1. Detailed Explanation: People should recycle their paper and plastics instead of burning or sending trash to the dump. Burning trash made of certain plastics and chemicals can cause toxic smoke and air pollution. Also, just throwing away your waste only adds to our Earth's litter and land and water pollution problems. 2. Evidence: We can decrease and prevent air pollution by recycling materials

We will not have to worry about going outside and inhaling toxic fumes that are out of our control. 2. Detailed Explanation #2: A law preventing or limiting the emission of poisonous fossil fuel will improve the air outside, and if the outside air is less or not polluted, the air inside our homes will also be healthier, with or without our use of natural or "green" products. a. Life/liberty: With this option you would have a choice as to whether or not you want or can afford to purchase and use "green" products. b. Logos: If we write to our local representatives and show support of such a law, we can ensure a healthier future for everyone. 3. Detailed Explanation #3: The decrease or elimination of fossil fuels through law does not require every single household to complete a long list of recycling requirements. a. Environment/Safety: By creating and enforcing a law to decrease and prevent air pollution, the physical damage that people cause the Earth and the illnesses and eventual death these activities cause mankind can stop. b. Logos: The reduction of fossil fuel emissions over one year by a law such as this is 15 times more helpful to the environment than recycling alone. Conclusion: (Summary/Review) Air pollution has many negative effects on people, the Earth, plants, and other living organisms. In addition to being ugly, it can cause illness and eventually death. • 4. Problem/Solution Essay This Has To Stop! Smoking pollutes the air. Cigarettes are made from 4,000 different chemical compounds and 400 toxic substances. Smoking is also bad for America because of "second–hand smoke". We roam around in a universe polluted by smoke. This is why smoking cigarettes is a problem. Smokers need to realize that they are not only damaging themselves, but the others around them as...show more content... The benefits of quitting smoking are great. When you quit you will realize that your general health improves. How can we help people stop smoking? Many solutions could be put into effect. The price for cigarettes should be more expensive and nicotine patches, medicines, chewing gum, and electronic cigarettes should be less expensive. Many countries are controlling smoking by banning smoking in bars, restaurants, hotels, and many other places. America should take banning smoking more serious. Anti–smoking laws can also be used to regulate cigarette advertising by tobacco companies. In South Africa for instance, cigarette advertising is banned Most people who smoke hardly have any idea of the end result of their smoking habit. Information of the smoking must be made widely available especially to teen smokers. More smoking solutions would also include massive stop smoking campaigns via TV, radio, internet, billboards, SMS and over medium can also be effective in communicating the stop smoking message. Other methods especially to do with teens would be for parents and guardians, schools, and other authorities to spend more time with the young people to understand their behavioral patterns. This would help to quickly identify changes induced by tobacco smoking. I truly feel that these solutions could change the amount of smokers in America. Last but least, smoking needs to stop. We as Americans need to reverse this growing epidemic into a Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Problem Solution Essay On Abortion Dejenara Williams Ms. Milliner EES22GQ–04 May, 28 2017 Problem–solution Essay Whenever anyone ever brings up abortion, it 's clearly a very opinionated subject. Opinions coming from all. Meaning men and women of a wide age range raised to learn and believe all sorts of religions. Even though this procedure is clearly only done to females, clearly. Everything about this topic is important, because depending on the side he or she is for pro–life or the opposite it 's all based off of the personal things that happened to them or around them. So to actually understand whether abortions should be legal you'll have to look at all the pieces that make up a hole. More so by using facts from the past present. These steps contain the necessary knowledge that has been constructed through previous life experiences. Without sufficient experience the supports designed to strengthen our choices are weakened ending in the ultimate failure of the problem. There are many different strategies that good problem solvers use to solve a problem. The steps of the problem solving process are systematic and organized. First, take your time and identify the problem very carefully. Do the research, and become informed about your subject. Few good problem solvers solve problems fast. Life choices need to be supported with well thought–out...show more content... It is without doubt that humans will encounter problems that limit access to a preferred want or need at sometime during their lives and this was no different in my own life. Researchers D'Zurilla and Goldfried (1971) define a problem as "any life situation or task that demands a response for adaptive or effective functioning" (415). My life situation in question became deciding between attending school leading to future desired payoffs or working a menial full–time job that would not. The first step in the problem solving process, allowed me to identify the problem. A situation can be perceived or thought of as problematic when an individual encounters situations disturbs them or they find that it keeps them from a goal (Bingham, 1999). The problem surfacing in affording an education and paying for everyday necessities became the central focus at that point in my life and defined the problem that needed an immediate response. The problem solving process can best be defined as the best way to overcome obstacles in situations and the steps used to help overcome them (Peterson et al., 2002). The second step, sort out information that is not needed provided clarity during times in which the process seemed overwhelming. This called for a potential solution, a desired outcome and how to get there. The research that had initially been part of the formulating method had sparked an interest in the military. This idea was supported by the benefits that outweighed Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Despise their status in the environment, majority of high school students refrain from acknowledging the presence of their reality. The problem in most situations in that students feel shut in, trapped in a never ending misery. How do they cope? What are their ways of dealing? Most students live in denial. Others have friends to confide in. For the devastating part, most students are not as open to these ideas and it leaves them with this alternative: suicide. Suicide is the third leading cause in teens the ages 14 to 19 within rural underserved areas. Suicidal ideation (SI), suicidal thoughts, were surveyed in over 12 high schools and it was found that in the past year, thoughts of (SI) were not shared with peers or even adults in the pursuit of receiving help or support (Pisani, 2012). Because a student spends most of their day at school, it is ideal for schools to provide realistic opportunities and school–based programs to assist with the suicide among the youth. The Surviving the Teens Suicide Prevention and Depression Awareness Program designed four 50 minute session or each high school student. This presented information in regards to factual information about depression, suicidal warning signs, suicidal risk factors and myths associated with suicide (King, 2010). Problems are the basis of jobs and careers: restaurants for hunger, movies and video games for boredom, news for information etc. However, with basic problems that have a set solution there are a variety of ways to solve it. Working backwards, although slightly different, is a widely used and very effective way of solving problems. 1 (Referring to page "Problem I") Most people would look at this problem and would loathe solving it because it would involve creating a long complicated algebraic problem. Using the method of working backwards even a child who hasn't learned algebra can solve the same problem and...show more content... 2 Heuristics are rules of thumb that can help us to reach a solution to a problem, typically when facing complex problems or incomplete information. These rules work well under most circumstances. They can also be considered shortcuts. However, heuristics can cause cognitive biases. Having a cognitive bias can significantly affect the scientific method or ABCDE's of problem solving. For example, "if the problem is "When do you eat food?", if you answer, "When I'm hungry" then you would have to eat immediately every single time you were hungry. Instead, we follow heuristics to determine when to eat by gauging our hunger level, the situation we are in, and our ability to get food." The basis of problem solving is called the ABCDE's. Assess the problem, Brainstorm approaches to the problem, Choose an approach that seems most likely to work, Do it, try the most likely approach, Evaluate the results. To assess the problem means to dissect the problem and see what it's all about. In order to sole the problem effectively one must assess what kind of problem it is. Brainstorming approaches is the action of spontaneous creation of ideas that pertain and could solve the problem. The more ideas produced the more "cushion" you Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Bob Maynard says, "Problems are opportunities in disguise." If we approach problems with Maynard's attitude, we see that problems are really opportunities to learn about others and ourselves. They enable us to live happier and more fulfilling lives. Maynard's quote applies to all kinds of problems. I faced a problem just last week when our family's kitchen sink developed a serious leak. There was water all over our kitchen floor and piles of dishes to be washed. But our landlord was out of town for the week. I come from a big family–I have six brothers and sisters–so we couldn't afford to wait until...show more content... Whatever kind of situation we face, problems give us the chance to learn and grow, both physically and mentally. For example, when I had a problem with my car and couldn't the repairs right away, my problem become an opportunity to get some exercise–something I'd been waiting to do anyway. I had to walk a mile each day to get to the bus stop and back. But in the meantime, I got the chance to start getting back in shape, and I saved a lot on gas. I've come to realize that problems are really part of what makes life worth living. Problems challenge us and give us the opportunity to do things we've never done before, to learn things we never knew before. They give us the chance to surprise ourselves. Just the word "problem" can send some of us into a panic. But problems can be good things, too. Problems are situations that make us think and force us to be creative and resourceful. They can also teach us things we didn't know before. For example, I had a problem in school a few years ago when I couldn't understand my math class. I started failing my quizzes and homework assignments. I wasn't sure what to so, so finally I went to the teacher and asked for help. She said she would arrange for me to be tutored by another student who was her best student. In return, though, I'd have to help that student around school. In a Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation video, foreign men see Korean women as easy to get and contribute to the degrading view of sex working women (http:/ /koreabridge.net/video/mbcs–shocking–reality–about–relationships–foreigners). Management may misdiagnose the problem by identifying a person or group of people as problems. The problem can affect a large group of people in a small way, or the problem can affect a small group of people in a large way. In a problem–solution paper, the solutions should be new to the reader. To write myresearch problem–solution essay I followed three steps: researching, writing, and documenting. To start my research process I determined the problem, and then began researching for solutions. The problem I chose was registration at Normandale, and the common issue of classes filling up too fast. Once I had my problem, I started researching for background information on registration, and...show more content... For my introduction, I started by writing a thesis statement. My thesis statement stated the problem of class registration at Normandale, and then introduced the four possible solutions; this gave the reader a brief summary of what to expect. To organize my body paragraphs, I wrote out my first topic sentence to define the problem, and then followed with four topic sentences for my four solutions. Finally, I rewrote my thesis so I could restate it in my conclusion. After organizing the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion, I was ready to write my first draft. The purpose of my introduction was to interest the reader, and give them a brief background on the essay. The introductory paragraphs consisted of a hook, background information on the problem and why it is occurring, and then my thesis statement. My essay started with a direct quote I discovered when researching. I then explained the importance of the quote, and followed with my thesis. Also, I used correct MLA format when citing the direct quote in my paper. It's important to cite all sources correctly otherwise it will be penalized as plagiarism. Once my introduction was complete, I began writing the body paragraphs. The main purpose of my body paragraphs were to explain and support my thesis. For my body paragraph on the problem, I made sure to explain the problem of registration, give an example, and then state who the problem affected. Overfishing: The Problem and the Solution Your Name Axia College of University of Phoenix Overfishing: The Problem and the Solution A major environmental problem that has developed over the last few years is overfishing. What is overfishing? Overfishing is simply what it sounds like. Overfishing occurs when fishermen are catching fish so quickly and at such high rates that the fish are unable to reproduce fast enough to replenish the population. It is my belief that, if this has not always been a problem, it has always been a problem in the making. This problem has progressively gotten worse as the human population that relies on fish as a food resource has increased and the equipment and techniques used by the fishermen have...show more content... Some of the actions that can be taken in order to reverse the problems that overfishing has caused include: inform the public, put restrictions on catch limits, reduce bycatch, protect habitats, and enforce all new policies. The following plan lays out the steps that will occur with each action and when these actions should be taken. Action Items: Inform the public including consumers and fishermen of the problems and what can be done to make a change. Action Steps: Research and identify the long term effects that overfishing will have. Conduct interviews with both environmentalists and experts on the issue as well as fishermen in order to present both sides of the argument. Attend a city council meeting to introduce the idea and the importance of a presentation as well as schedule a time for one to be made. Present information on what overfishing is, the impact that overfishing has on the marine ecosystem and on our existence, make consumers more aware of the type and amount of fish that they eat, and actions that can be taken to reverse the problem. Having good problem solving skills is an important skill every single person should have. We run into problems every day that we need to be able to figure out on our own. I wouldn't say I am a bad problem solver, but I would definitely say that my problem solving skills could improve. In order to have good problem solving skills, you need to have good critical thinking skills as well. Today in class, I learned the seven components that make up good critical thinking skills. Learning about problem solving is going to help me significantly if I correctly follow the four major steps. With that said, these four steps are defining the problem; devise (gather and interpret information); implement a plan of action; and evaluate the plan for effectiveness. The step I struggle with the most is evaluating the plan for effectiveness. I always know how I can solve the problem, but it isn't always the most effective way to go about it, and then I am stuck. So, learning about how to solve a problem the most effective way is really going to help me out every day. Currently, I am trying to solve all these problems that are going to affect my future, either negatively or positively. With that said, I also learned seven strategies to problem solving. These seven strategies are going to help me tremendously right now and I can't wait to put them to work and, hopefully, I will be less stressed with all of these decisions if I use these strategies correctly. The seven problem solving strategies I learned today are keeping a positive attitude; ask questions; use creativity; pay attention to detail; see all sides of the issue; remember that persistence pays off; and to use reasoning. If I keep all these strategies in mind, solving all the problems I have right now will not be as bad and they may even come easier. Another important thing I learned in class today was common errors in judgment. There Get more content on HelpWriting.net

College debt has been a staggering issue statewide; students apply to loans they can't handle and the effective of doing so hurts them financially. College debt continues to rise; unfortunately, three solutions have been offered which range from planning, scholarships, and community college. The cost of colleges increasing, leaving a large amount of students in debt. It creates an enormous amount of stress on individuals. For instance, Kelsey Griffith a graduate from Ohio Northern University begins to pay off " her $120,000 in student debt"(Martin 4). Moreover, with dept this high, Ms. Griffith works two jobs and is forced to move in with her parents to be financially stable. In addition, the demand for college education is high and loans are easily attainable. For example, Ms. Griffith knew her college was expensive, but they disregarded her payments and she soon found she owed "$900 a month" after she graduates(Martin 4). Like you're not good at anything you do? Like everybody hates you? Like you're completely alone? The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that about 121 million people worldwide have felt these emotions before due to some form of depression; however, less than 25 percent have access to effective treatment [source: WHO]. Even though many people don't realize it, there is an abhorrent problem with depression among teens in the United States. In fact, "11% of adolescents have a depressive disorder by age 18," according to the National Institute of Mental Health's website. This statistic may not seem like a lot,...show more content... Expectations are very high in many aspects of their lives, and to live up to those expectations, they occasionally must sacrifice doing things they want to do for things that have to do." This could be another main contributor to depression. If you look at little kids playing, they're laughing and happy, because they're doing what they love, but if you look at teens and adults, you rarely see them playing. If you ask a teenager why they aren't playing, they'll usually grumble, "I don't have time, I have too much homework." Homework usually starts picking up around 6th or 7th grade; depression rates triple between the ages of 12 and 15. Maybe if teens were less stressed with homework and such, they could do more things they enjoy, and maybe they'd be less depressed. A second way to help prevent and/ or cure this crippling disease is to ensure people get a proper night's sleep. Don't you love the feeling after a long, relaxing, refreshing night's sleep? You might be thinking, "Sure, but how does that help with depression?" Well, Chris Iliades, MD says that, "Teens whose parents set a 10 p.m bedtime (and enforce it) are 25% less likely to experience teenage depression... according to a study of data from 15,000 adolescents." The potential benefits of this solution could be huge; being able to cure the crushing effects of depression by sleeping seems like a simple and easy thing to do, yet how simple is Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 22. Illegal Immigration Problem Solution Immigration Problem Solution Essay Illegal immigration is becoming overwhelming in the United States. Many people are getting across the border illegally so they can either find a better life for themselves or their children. When these people immigrate it is normally due to the process of becoming a citizen taking too long and causing them to become impatient or they're just not allowed at all. The United States has a problem with illegal immigration and since this is a problem a couple solutions should be planned and worked on. Today in the United States there seems to be a problem with getting a visa for those who want to migrate to the U.S. legally and easily. If it were to be made effortless to enter then less people would risk their lives trying to enter illegally. The border is easy enough to bypass that it "encourages dangerous crossings" for people who just want in for an easy life for themselves or their children (Walker and Zuckerman 1). The simplicity of getting a visa and immigrating with it should be improving over time like technology does all over the world. If the border were to be improved it can prevent many crossings and force them to "find legal" ways on immigrating into the country (Walker and Zuckerman 2). The easier it is to cross the border, the more that will do attempt it for an easier life. This can be a problem on monitoring who is immigrating into the U.S. and if they're peaceful beings or terrorists. If they are terrorists and they pass Get more content on HelpWriting.net
