4. AATJ 全米日本語教育学会 American Association of Teachers of Japanese STRONG SUPPORT for Japanese language, linguistics, and literature professionals. As one large organization, we can work together to support and expand Japanese language, linguistics, and literature instruction in the United States.

AATJ 全米日本語教育学会 American Association of Teachers of Japanese ONE VOICE for advocacy, professional development grant funding, and participation in national policy discussions Like other language organizations, we become a unified voice for advocacy, professional development opportunities, grant funding, and participation in national policy-making discussions.
6. AATJ 全米日本語教育学会 American Association of Teachers of Japanese OPPORTUNITIES for K-16+ teachers to meet, learn, articulate, conference and share resources As a K-16+ organization, we have new opportunities for articulation, professional development, and the sharing of ideas and resources.

AATJ 全米日本語教育学会 American Association of Teachers of Japanese STREAMLINED operations, website, governance and a new membership structure Operations will be streamlined with one website and one governing body. A new membership structure has the potential to generate new revenue for local affiliates and encourage more teachers to participate in your professional organizations.
8. Your favorite activities, events and services will continue, with the addition of benefits formerly for ATJ members only. Newsletter and Journal (journal mailing for $5 fee) Nengajou Contest AATJ 全米日本語教育学会 American Association of Teachers of Japanese Japanese National Honor Society Other Professional Development Opportunities Online Courses for Teachers Spring Conference at AAS (Association for Asian Studies) National Japanese Exam Membership in Special Interest Groups ACTFL Conference Sessions Your students can still enjoy the Nengajou Contest, National Honor Society, and the National Japanese Exam Contest. You will be able to attend the ACTFL Conference at a discounted rate, with many AATJ-sponsored sessions. In addition, you will be able to access the special programs and events previously run by ATJ such as the Spring Conference with the Association of Asian Studies, and the journal Japanese Language and Literature (for a $5 shipping fee).
9. OLD PAYMENT STRUCTURE NEW PAYMENT STRUCTURE Members will pay dues to the new AATJ * (online credit card payment available) Members paid dues to their Local Affiliate What is different? A New Membership Payment Structure $$ $$ Local Affiliates sent $15 to NCJLT for their members who wanted to join the national organization AATJ will send $15 Local Affiliates for each member in their area. Members will include prior NCJLT and prior ATJ members. *If you prefer to ONLY belong to your Local Affiliate (and not AATJ), you can pay your dues directly to the Local Affiliate.
