After The Great War, the citizens of Germany looked for a new hope. The Treaty of Versailles wrecked the German state and morale seemingly
beyond repair with its harsh terms of negotiation. Of course, the German people expected some reparations to be demanded, but they were shocked
when the meeting of the Allied Powers at the Paris Peace Conference resulted in the creation of the Treaty of Versailles, a harsh, demanding cry of
retaliation. The Treaty of Versailles effectively forced the return of all lands taken during the war to their rightful governments, including all overseas

The language of the German culture is very sophisticated with a wide vocabulary. Germany has a wide variety of languages spoken in their country

of languages only used by a little under five percent of Germany as ninety–five percent of the culture speaks its main language (Commisceo, 2017).
Within the main language, the characters used to write the language are almost completely the same as English with the exception of a few. The few
exceptions of the language are the umlauts and eszett that both have different meanings within the language. The eszett is the symbol for "double S"
in a word (Paul Joyce, 2011). The umlaut is a symbol placed above the letters A, O, or U, to express different pronunciations of the letter in the word

It has been argued that the German expressionist movement has had an influence on many later filmmakers and genres. I agree with this argument and
in this essay I will be explaining why I believe this to be the case by discussing the common traits of expressionism and applying them to later films
and genres.
Unlike other European countries, the film industry in Germany in post World War I was booming, in fact it was second only to Hollywood. This was
mainly due to the German government's ban on foreign films and the rising demand by German theatres. Between 1914 and 1918 the amount of film
production companies rose from 25 to 130 and continued to grow, by 1921 there were over 300 companies. The government supported filmmaking
throughout the post war period; the ban was lifted in 1920 which gave German filmmakers little competition for over five years.
Expressionism began in the form of paintings in 1908 and soon transferred to a wide range of media including cinema. In 1920 a film was premiered
in Berlin and critics declared expressionism had reached cinema. The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (directed by Robert Wiene) was the first of its kind.
Although audiences were used to this style in art and other media, it had never been seen on film before and was a success with the public. From that

The way Germans and Americans think is totally opposite. Germans think deductively, and take a scientific approach. On the other hand Americans

Oskar's Struggle: The life of a German immigrant during World War II In the story "The German Refugee," written by Bernard Malamud, Oskar, a
Jewish immigrant from Germany struggles to learn English and cope with the depression of his past. Many German immigrants, especially those that

In 1915 Rudyard Kipling, a journalist who wrote propaganda during World War I, stated, "However the world pretends to divide itself, there are only
two divisions in the world today– human beings and Germans." This proves that Germans were discriminated against during World War I in America

German military strategist were ready when the declarations of war began flying all over Europe. They intended to lock off the Russians in the east,
smoothly kick France out of the war through a plan known as the Schliefffen Plan, then throw their full force, collaborating with Austria–Hungary,
against the Russians. The Schliefffen Plan, named after General Alfred von Schlieffen who created it during 1905, called for invading the small
countries like Luxembourg and Belgium in order to bypass to the north the strong fortifications along the French border. After a rapid conquest of the
small countries, the German advance would continue into northern France, spin around Paris to the west and take the French capital. It almost worked,
but German commander in chief General Helmuth von Moltke decided to send his troops east of Paris to engage and defeat the weakened French
army straightly. In doing so he displayed his rightwing to counterattack by the French and a British Expeditionary Force, resulting in the First Battle of
the Marne, September 6–10, 1914. Despite casualties in the hundreds of thousands, the battle was a stalemate, but it stopped the German drive on Paris.
