Have you ever been so stressed out, and tired of everything? Well students all across America feel
this way. With school years winding down teachers are putting too much stress among the students
to do well on state test and school assignments. So as a solution to the problem many districts have
had the idea of extending the school day. This is a bad idea because the districts are putting out
unneeded money, and for what reason?
To begin with, schools will have to pay for extra utility use because students will be in school longer
so the expenses will continue to elevate. Also if the school days are extended then the district will
have to pay the teachers more of a salary, and that will limit the amount of activities that students
and teachers love. Also (The National Education Association) estimates that the average added cost
would be around $1,200 per student, per year for most school districts. This is a problem that would

The First Day Of School
The first day of school has the major influence on the way an individual will eventually turn out in
the future. Many actions have occurred in my life long ago, some fail to recall, and some I still
clearly remember. I was going into my first school in America. I had moved from Kenya, a long
distance from the USA in order to link with my family, who had been here for almost 4 years,
expecting America would help my future. My father told me It would be better if I go to school
here, so I registered in the local high school in my city. I was frightened how I would do in school as
I have never been to school in the US before. First, I met new people with different cultures, second

In order for student success to take place the students need to try and actually do their work. They
also need to be paying attention to their teacher while the teacher is teaching the lesson. The class
did their research by watching a documentary on students who are in an extracurricular activity and
the class also read research based articles. The students at Anaheim schools can improve student

I am currently researching the length of the average school day for children in the United States.
The age groups that I am focusing on are kindergarten to twelfth grade. Originally I had narrowed
this research down to kids in first grade to twelfth, but after doing more research on the issue I

Having a day off of school or work is something many people wish for. However, that wish is
coming true for many across the U.S! Four–day school weeks are a growing trend that has become
increasingly popular in recent times. We should have four–day school weeks because it brings
higher student and teacher morale, it allows students to have an extra day away from school, and it
helps decrease budget spending. Although there are skeptics of the four–day school week, there are
no known negative effects of this four–day schedule. One of the best reasons to cut the school week
to four days in the increase in morale among both students and teachers. A study on the district of
Peach County, Georgia showed that disciplinary issues were down by a whopping 40%, which is
believed to be caused by the reduced stress brought by four–day school weeks. Also, a study in the
Melstone District of Montana showed that absences decreased by about 20%, which means that
students have do not have to be nearly as stressed about make–up work as often. Another way a

Benefits Of School Day
The average school day is 7–8 hours and I think it's just the right amount of time we need for
school. But the school board wants to add one and half hours to our school day, and I don't think it's
necessary. We shouldn't add time to our school day, it will have so much negative effect on our
student that I don't think it's worth it. After all, we already have a negative impact on how long our
school days are. For example; most of the time we are sitting and research has shown our generation
is 125% more likely to get diabetes, heart disease and other heart attacks just from us sitting down,
and adding an hour and thirty minutes will only make it worse because we're sitting most for most
of the day. But this is not the only negative effect of having longer school days. It will not only take
us longer to get home, but it will be more difficult because of the program some people are in, they
couldn't ride regular school buses because they would have already dropped off the high school
students and would have been on their way home, and the people who go to these programs
(Academy 360) will have to make their bus drive longer to get home because they will probably
have to catch different buses, and the student will be more tired and not be able to work to their
absolute best abilities, because they are usually out of school at this time and their brains are out of
learning mode and into relaxing mode.

It was a good day, I stood in front of the door so I could be picked up by my mom. There was a kid,
James, he was much taller than me at the time, most people were taller than me, but I didn't mind.
James came down the hallway and was staring straight at me with a devilish look in his eyes and a
smirk on his face. I was holding a couple of picture books that we had to bring that day, I really
enjoyed reading them. He was approaching me, I didn't think anything of it, all I was doing was

The American Educational system, which many of us students have become familiar with, did not
come about instantaneously. What we have now is the result of many decades of development and
policy–making in legislation. Though Parochial schools were used in the U.S. as early as 1750, and
Government–funded public schools began cropping up after the Revolutionary war, our educational
system's pace of development was relatively slow up until around the mid–19th century when the
first states began passing laws that made schooling compulsory to all those who had the opportunity
to attend. By the early 1900s, twelve years of education became the standard across the nation, a
standard that has withstood the test of time and is still in place today. The average school day in the
U.S. is 6.5 hours, and students are expected to attend 180 total days of school per grade term. To
supplement this, on average the U.S. spends more per capita on education than any other country in
the world. Though we spend much, the results don't directly translate to nation–wide success in
schools. In 2014, the U.S. was ranked 14th globally in education. Many attribute this to the average
length of the school day in America, and others propose an overall increase in total instructional
hours within American schools.

Extending the school day by an hour would require students to take additional courses to fill the
time. At SWHS, we go from 4 classes a day to potentially 5 or 6 classes a day. With more classes,

In the current schedule many parents make doctor's appointments right after school around 3:30 or
4:00 o'clock. However, if school were to end at 4:15 many parents would have to reschedule
appointments throughout the school day which would take away from learning. For athletes, a
longer school day would be even more chaotic. Most practices start immediately after school from
3:30 and last until 5:30 and sometimes practice runs as late as 6:00. These athletes would not get

Have you heard about many schools going to a four day school week and why they would, so by
changing the school week to four days it can save money, help teachers, and give students and
teachers better morale. When the teachers are at school planning they get that extra day to do so,
therefore they are more confident in the way they are teaching their classes. Colby Public Schools
should adopt the four day school system because the cost for transportation and meals will be
cheaper, the shorter week will give both the students and teachers more time to do studies or do
other things in their social life, and while the students are off doing other things the teachers can
plan for the week.
To begin, Colby Public Schools should go to a four day school week because it will help the

day school week has helped with teachers and they are using it for extensive professional

Afterwards, I woke in my room and then I drifted off to sleep. The next day my mom insisted that I
stay home due to the accident. After I avoided school for a day I had to go back and as soon as I

Last Day Of High School
The last day of my Early College High School (ECHS) 2017 year, was a day I will never forget. On
the last day of school, I got to drive my dad's truck; I remember telling myself I can't wait until I get
my own car, which is something I asked for on my Christmas list to Santa. I went to classes ready to
get my last final over with. The day went by pretty fast after the test, then we went to lunch and then
we had clubs. Since my club was not allowed to go to the gym, I stayed inside with the Medical
club. In the medical club, Cody gave a long presentation on the different Affordable Care Acts
(ACA) proposal, and we got into a debate which got me ready for the break even more.
At the beginning of the break, I was excited to be out of school, I had made so many plans. I made
plans to go to Austin and go to the spray paint park, and travel to Louisiana to celebrate my niece's
first birthday, but all of my plans were ruined.
For the first week of my break, I was sick. I winded up catching both the flu and strep throat, I
thought my Christmas break would be ruined, but it wasn't. During the time that I was sick, I got to
plan which Christmas gifts to get my family members instead of waiting until the last moment, and
everyone winded up loving their gifts. Due to the fact of me being sick, I couldn't go anywhere;
which meant no chores, no being told to get out the house; I actually had time to relax. While
relaxing I caught on my Netflix shows and my sleep.
The week before

I walked through the door on the first day of school, everybody turned and looked at me "Hey
Jordyn!" everyone said. I waved. *BEEP BEEP BEEP*In my dreams. I had always wanted to be
popular I don't know why but I always had. I slammed my hand on the snooze button. I climbed out
of bed and opened my dresser. Pulled out a pair of leggings and a short floral dress. I went down
stair following the smell of waffles. "Morning Jordyn!" My mom said placing a plate on the table.

The school bell rings at 2:50 indicating the end of the school day. I race out of my AP Chemistry
class and head straight for my car parked across the street from the high school. Within four
minutes, I'm pulling out of the parking lot and heading north on McHenry Avenue. As I drive as
"efficiently" as possible, I scan the street for any dangers. I approach the only stoplight on this

It was the last day of school, Kaylee rode the bus home just as she does every other day. When she
got home, the key to her house fell out of her hand and into a ditch. She couldn't find it, her brother

My legs started to tremble as I took my first step into the noisy classroom. The moment I walked in
the entire class immediately became extremely quiet. First day of new school is always the hardest,

"Glee club to the lobby, your bus has arrived", said the lady on the loudspeaker. I was so happy to be
leaving this early in the school day, and especially to be going to sing and go to Lake Compounce. It

We just got off the bus and did yet another headcount, which I thought was weird considering no
one can just get off the bus whenever they wanted, but that was beside the point. We walked in the
school, warmed up in some extra practice room with a television that showed who was performing
until they called us all in. We sat in the gigantic auditorium way in the back and watched the schools
