John L Holland Developed A Test
John L Holland Developed a test, producing three letter codes to describe types. Holland believed
there were six basic traits that combined to make a person's personality. The six traits are
Conventional, Enterprising, Social, Realistic, Investigative, and Artistic. Three letter codes, derived
form the first letter of each of the three highest related traits, are shown after the test is taken
(Rayman, 2008). My personality type from this test was ACS, Artistic, Conventional, and Social
(Rounds). Artistic was my highest score, and I think this is accurate. Currently I have an artistic
social career goal in a collaborative art form. I think this will be a good fit based on this test. I can
see evidence of my conventionality being fiscally conservative. Some careers that may be a good
match are a teacher, program director, or social worker. These careers are exactly what I was
thinking, but they would be a more practical application for someone with a high artistic trait.
The Myers–Briggs Type Indicator
Designed in the 1940s by American author Isabel Briggs Myers and her mother Katharine Cook
Briggs, this objective test attempts to determine a person's personality type. It can commonly be
applied to career one has chosen of will choose. There seems to be reasonable correlation between
the indicator results, shown by a four–letter combination, and the career types people of that type
choose. Due to it's wide use in career counseling and business, the Consulting Psychologists

Career And Life Planning : The Myers Briggs Type Indicator...
Career and life planning in ones life is essential to having a long and successful career. I feel
without a plan, you plan to fail. Through hard work and dedication you can get anywhere you want
in life. By mapping and planning situations you encounter in life, you set goals and tasks, which
might be small at first. But will add up over courses of time. Career and life planning helps me with
my academic and social life. Planning ahead and structuring my time spent helps me make daily
decisions. By always using and looking at time spent as an investment for the future, planning helps
me see what is necessary. A quote from Benjamin Franklin sums this up fairly well, "If you fail to
plan, you are planning to fail." By taking the Myers Briggs Type Indicator assessment, I was given
detailed information of how I answered the questions. These questions help identify what career
paths and occupations would be a good fit for me. The Myers Briggs Type Indicator has been used
for over 60 years and has helped people become more satisfied and successful in their careers.
Based off of the responses I had given for the assessment I had been reported that my type is ESTJ.
By having a reported type of ESTJ it shows that I was clear to moderate in Extraversion, Sensing,
Thinking and Judging. Being clear to moderate in these preferences allowed me to further
understand where I focus my attention on, they way I take in information, decision making and how
I judge the outside world. An

Essay on Individual Development Plan
August 7, 2001 Individual Development Plan Each individual is just that: individual. We all have
our strengths and weakness. Life is about exploring and improving on those. Growth never ends. It
is expanding our minds and attitudes to make life happy and peaceful. My development depends
what I do to accomplish my life goals. My carrier path will depend on how I can grow and develop

Project 1: Myers-Briggs Personality Assessment
Running Head: Myers–Briggs Personality Assessment 1 Myers–Briggs Personality Assessment 10
Project 1 ? Sepich MBTI Analysis Rachelle Sepich Liberty University Abstract Although this was
not the first personality assessment that I?ve completed, after reading this week?s study material, I
can honestly say that I have gained a more expansive understanding and perspective on the subject.
First, I had not considered the correlation between our covenant with God and the responsibility that
we should maintain a similar engagement with one another on a day–to–day basis (Presentation:
Lesson 1 ? A Worldview Perspective on Organizational Behavior, 2012). While I knew that our
personality type could provide context to how we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It may sound like a perplexing question; but after taking the MBTI assessment, I am increasingly
convinced that I?m not as indescribable as I thought. There?s a humorous list of MBTI prayers that
provide a comical synopsis of each type. Mine states, ?Lord help me to relax about insignificant
details beginning tomorrow at 11:41.23 am e.s.t.? (Prayers for Myers–Briggs Types, n.d.). This sums
me up in a nutshell! As I reviewed my MBTI results, most of my percentages have not drastically
changed over time. This gives me continued confidence in the following MBTI results which
indicate I am an ?ISTJ?: introvert (16%), sensing (9%), thinking (31%) and judging (53%) (Jung
Typology Test, 1998–2017). As I read more about my style, I can honestly say that there were few, if
any, points that I disagreed with. In summary, I do not get my energy from engaging in large
crowds. Analysis by paralysis is a real challenge for me, given I have a knack for the details. I won?t
let my feelings get in the way of a decision which can be a relationship inhibitor if I don?t keep an
eye on it. I Corinthians 14:40 and Ecclesiastes 3:1 will both maintain a special place in my heart;
everything should have a time, place and purpose. My blind spots include my tendency to think that
I?m right, which debatably I think I am. I may find myself facilitating ?win–lose? discussions and I
tend to be extremely serious most of the time (Personality Type Explained, 1998–2017). My

Administering the Myer–Briggs Type Indicator The organization will implement the Myers–Briggs
Type Indicator (MBTI) personality profile test. Current employees who are staying in their current
positions are still subjected to the assessment being we want all employees to be comfortable with
new hires. Testing current employees will show where the company is behavioral wise with
personalities, and management can have better understanding of their employees. In the current
process of the reorganization, any employee that transitions into a different role will go through the
process of internal hiring. The organization is planning on having the MBTI part of the
organization's hiring process, therefore implementing this new culture efficiently is a top priority.
BoardMan will create a job satisfaction survey to help with the Myers–Briggs testing.
Decision making Models
The most common decision making models are Rational Model, Intuitive Model, Combined Model
and other decision model. The most popular decision making models are those of the rational
category, with a series of sequential steps that involve a thinking process where various options are
quoted along with potential advantages and disadvantages. The Intuitive decision making models
does not depend on motives or judgment (McDermott, 2012). The preference is reached by intuitive
knowledge of what the best answer is. Many individuals have mentioned how the individual can feel

Steve Harmon Character Analysis
CHARACTER DESCRIPTION INVOLVEMENT Steve Harmon Steve Harmon is a 16–year–old
black man who is being convicted of felony murder and participating in a holdup at a drugstore.
Steve grew up in a bad neighborhood and on multiple occasions admired the tough thug guys and
even wanted to be like King (pg 96). His flashbacks show us that Steve did talk to King, Johnny and
Cruz about a planned holdup, (pg 50) though in court he outright lies and says that he never talked
to either one of them about anything important enough to remember (pg 226). When in prison, Steve
is terrified of the other guys and guards (pg 96) and gives us the impression that he is innocent and
doesn't belong there. Steve wants to make himself different than the other guys in his mind and the
mind of the jury, but he goes through hard times where he sees himself as just another criminal (pg
129.) He proves to be a pretty good kid in his film class with Mr. Sawicki (pg 234) and loves his
little brother, Jerry (pg 58). Steve sees himself as a good person, though he admits that he has made
mistakes. Steve's biggest struggle throughout the novel is against his moral, as he tries to figure out
if he really he is a "monster" like Petrocelli called him. Filmmaking becomes his way of coping with
the environment while on trial. Through his screenplay his can separate himself from his inner and
outer fears and make sense of his experience. Filmmaking allows Steve to look at things from an
outside perspective. Kathy

Essay on Willy Russell's Our Day Out
Willy Russell's "Our Day Out"
Willy Russell has written many plays over the last thirty years, but there is one feature that is
common to all of them: the issue of social and cultural background. This is the situation of the
characters; their surroundings; their class; the society in which they are brought up, and the culture
of that society. It is this that can lead to the behaviour, feelings, opinions and general outlook of the
characters. Russell explores the effects that society and culture can have on people in all his plays,
but in none is it so poignant as in
'Our Day Out', the story of what happens when Mrs Kay takes her
Progress class out of inner–city Liverpool on a school trip to Conwy
Castle, Wales.
Throughout ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The children also use slang words. For example, they refer to the Corporation as 'The Corpy',
bonfire night as 'bommy night', and cigarettes as 'ciggies'. In any society, the colloquial dialect is an
essential part of the culture, and the use of it in 'Our
Day Out' forcefully conveys to the audience the essence of the background of these children.
Symbolism plays a significant part in 'Our Day Out', because it gives
Russell the opportunity to display how the children feel about their hopeless situations, without
having to state it in the text or put it in the dialogue. This is important because the children don't
necessarily know how they feel, or if they do they can't express it, so to put it in the dialogue would
be inconsistent with their characters. If Russell had put it in the stage directions it would not be
experienced to its full impact when people see the play on television or on the stage. Russell also
probably didn't want to be so explicit; some things, such as the knowledge of the hopelessness of the
children's situations and the destitution they are facing, are more poignant and affecting when
implied through some form of symbolism rather than directly stated.
The two most obvious symbols in the play are the analogies of the bear in the pit at the zoo and the
goldfish in the bag Carol wins at the fair. In the first case the bear represents the children, and the pit
represents Liverpool. The children are trapped in

Elizabeth's Poem
The Harp
In the woods there lived a women that played a beautiful song on her golden harp. Her name was
Elizabeth these songs were like a call that would signal the animals in the forest. This signal would
impact their actions, the song she played in December was so beautiful it put the animals into a deep
sleep that lasted till the end of winter. During winter the animals would sleep so soundly that
nothing could hurt them. Elizabeth's song would change the seasons, the song of the spring brought
back the leaves on the trees, they grew the grass, and they melted snow and ice. She stopped playing
her music and took her harp to the bottom of the pond and fell asleep. The next day Elizabeth

Aaron he always wore a mask almost as if he was covering a wound on his face, Aaron also had a
necklace that was in the shape of a bear paw. When Charles arrived at Aaron's hideout he gave him
the harp and in return Aaron gave him nothing and ran deeper into the cave. Charles sprinted after
him but he lost track of him. A few seconds later he heard a roar that shattered the stalagmites in the
cave. Charles began dove out of the way because the stalagmites were about to fall on him. Then he
got up to run out of the cave, before that beast he heard in the cave came after him. When Charles
made it to the house he woke up his brother because the beast was heading towards their cabin.
Suddenly the ground began to rumble and the house shook due to a loud roar that came from the
direction of the cave. This roar woke up Elizabeth and Bufford. William grabbed his bow that
someone in the castle gave him. He took Bufford with him, Elizabeth was confused because her
harp was missing. Charles apologized to her because he needed to sell it to Aaron or he would kill

identity and purpose, and the classification through of the different dimensions of my life. The key
determination of setting personal objectives and defining one's outcomes is the personality and self–

From my work experience in the E–nail shop, I considered that one of the key aspects of my
experience was to develop interpersonal working and the capacity to work within a group dynamic.
In terms of the development of individual skills, the resolution of issues, coordination of effort,
communication and skills of innovation are all skill which there is a growing demand for.
I have found a job in the E–nails shop which is located in Barrington mall from November 2015 till
July 2016. My position was a nail specialist doing both manicure and pedicure. As I have never
done this kind of job before, the supervisor gave me a one–week training on basic skill, such as nails

The Myers Briggs Personality Test
John Adams once said, "Thanks be to God that he gave me stubbornness when I know I am right".
John Adams, like myself was introverted, intellectual, thinking, and judging, or an INTJ on the
Myers Briggs personality test. Like all INTJs, Adams was stubborn and flouted the ideas of others
that he did not agree with. By using my results from the Meyers Briggs personality test, I can
examine how I react to certain things and use this to improve my Spirituality, my relationship with
God, and ultimately my relationship with others through Christ. I am Introverted and this knowledge

Even when things are going badly in my life, my constant drive pushes me towards God,
questioning why things are happening and looking to God to show me the way, granting me
patience and guidance through an incredibly hard time. Thus, even in times of darkness, my
relationship with God is strengthened. Furthermore, the mystery of faith excites me and I can use
this to strengthen my spirituality with God by thinking about him. I am Thinking and this
knowledge can be used to improve my spirituality. Thinking people are usually reserved and serious
and curious about the world around them. They also think about their answers critically and answer
in a clear answer, however they can be stubborn and unaccepting of others' ideas. For example, I
cannot be wrong in an argument; even if I am clearly wrong, I will continue arguing that I am right.
I stand firm by my beliefs and do not succumb to others' beliefs. This in reality is a fault I need to
work on through the guidance of God. This struggle is how I can incorporate thinking into my
spirituality. Through Iganatian Contemplative prayer I can remove myself from my normal
analytical thinking, and engage my heart and imagination in prayer. Additionally, I must also learn
to accept the ideas of others before immediately dismissing them. For instance, if someone has a

Bandura's Theory : The Career Decision Making...
The MBTI is a well–known personality and traits inventory. It can be a insightful tool for
individuals to better perceive themselves and recognize the rationale behind their personal behaviors
according to Drummond et al. (2016). Katherine Briggs and Isabel Myers, a mother and daughter,
created the first MBTI for the purpose of helping individuals to accept and understand their distinct
personalities, preferences and differences (Myers & Briggs Foundation, 2017). After working on the
inventory for many years they acknowledged, embraced and added the theory and philosophy of
psychiatrist Carl Jung to the inventory (Harrell, 2017). This is an objective inventory that can be
utilized by adolescents and adults, does not take much time to complete and is self–scored
(Drummond, Jones, & Sheperis, 2016). The Career Decision Making Self–efficacy Scale (Betz, &
Taylor, 2001) short form is an assessment utilized to determine self–efficacy and confidence level in
one's own abilities to complete undertakings that may responsibly lead to rewarding and prosperous
career outcomes (Betz & Taylor, 2001). Betz & Taylor (2016) state the Career Decision Making
Self–efficacy Scale (CDMSE) is based on Albert Bandura's theory pertaining to his belief that self–
efficacy and expectations of an individual are directly related to and may determine the success of
the individual. From a theoretical standpoint, Bandura is suggesting that what and how we think

The Mary Celeste: Controversy Or False?
The nautical riddle of the Mary Celeste has been debated and studied by hundreds of people ever
since its discovery in 1872. The Mary Celeste was found abandoned in the Atlantic Ocean, 400
miles east of the Azores Islands with the cargo and crew's belongings left intact. Whether it was
mutiny, piracy, or a false emergency, the case has remained largely unsolved. The Mary Celeste was
an abandoned ship found off the coast of Portugal in the late 1800s, and investigators still struggle
to come up with a definite answer to the mystery.
The Mary Celeste was an American merchant brig constructed in Nova Scotia and was registered in
1861 under the name Amazon. For the next six years the ship would be passed between several
captains and co
owners alike. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Suspicions of foul play have risen, of course. Some sort of trickery going on behind the scenes is the
agreed upon solution to this tragic tale. The theories range from a scam that the whole crew of both
ships were in on, a scam that only the captains were aware of, pirates not interested in the cargo,
blatant murder, or perhaps something much more difficult to explain. The rest of the theories, not
including ghosts, would be natural phenomena. A seaquake, severe storm, or even a creature of
unparalleled proportions are some of the possible things that would cause the crew to abandon ship,
however these suspicions are easily refuted with things like the missing lifeboat and tidy crew
belongings. The most plausible theory that could be considered natural phenomena is the alcohol
fumes that could have reached the deck of the ship. It's reasonable to believe that the crew had
smelled the alcohol in their quarters and beat a hasty exit before suffering an explosion at the hands
of the dangerous

Stratton was a successful businessman. The first product developed by Briggs was too expensive to

Theories Of The Mary Celeste
It is a century old mystery that is surrounded with controversy. What happened to The Mary
Celeste? This historical mystery has many theories surrounding what happened to Captain Briggs
and crew. Some more accurate than others like mother nature, criminal conspiracies and, an
explosion. However, the most likely of all the theories is the alcohol explosion.
The alcohol explosion is the most realistic scenario of what happened to The Mary Celeste. The
Mary Celeste was carrying nine barrels of alcohol, which the barrels were made of red oak not white
oak. This could be a reason why the barrels were found empty. The reason is red oaks are more
porous, which leads to a slow leakage through them. This creates alcohol vapor in the hold. Along
with the barrels being red oak, the barrels were tied together with steel bands. All the bands had to
do was rub together to cause friction and let off a spark which would create an explosion. So when
captain Briggs heard or saw the start of the explosion, he would order everybody into the lifeboat.
But some may wonder why they couldn't get back to the boat with the rope that connects the
lifeboat to the boat. Well they may have been in such a frantic that they were not able to tie the
lifeboat to the boat or their rope broke and they were whisked away by mother nature. The only
thing that doesn't confirm this theory is that when the boat was found there were no burn marks.
This would suggest that there was no explosion. However, this is the

others; their empathy enables [me] to quickly understand emotional needs, motivations, and

understand others, and even know that they are upset before they tell me so. Another handout
describes ENFJs as having an intense caring about people. The strengths of being an ENFJ as well
as a leader include a strong sense of commitment that ENFJs have. As an ENFJ, I am extremely
aware of the commitments I make and the effort I put in order to follow through with them. ENFJs
are incredibly skilled communicators. This could not be more true for me, as I am incredibly

fall into this category as well, as I am an extremely motivated artist and painter. As an ENFJ, I have
an incredible sense of understanding others and making sure the needs of my subordinates are

The Discovery Of The Logarithm
The Contributors of Logarithms
The discovery of the logarithm is a great mathematics breakthrough made by John Napier and Joost
Burgi. These two mathematicians had different concepts of the logarithms and its present use today.
John Napier's logarithms were published in 1614, while six years later, in 1620, Burgi's logarithms
were published (A REVIEW OF LOGARITHMS 2016). Both Napier and Burgi invented logarithms
in order to simplify mathematical calculations. To reach their goals, they used two different
methods; Napier used the algebraic method and Burgi used the geometric method. Although these
two men had discovered logarithms, they did not have the concept of a logarithmic base. The
current definition defines a logarithm as "the power ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Originally, the exponent notation was not used, but was a further developed method to explain
Burgi's concept. In conclusion, Burgi's discovery of relating geometric and arithmetic series is the
reason why he has a great contributor to the development of logarithms.
The other important contributor to the development of logarithms in 1614 was John Napier, a
Scottish mathematician. His incentive was to help in the multiplication of sine quantities. The entire
sine was the value of the side calculated of a right angle triangle with a large hypotenuse. In
participation with the English mathematician Henry Briggs, Napier transformed his logarithm into
its present day shape. The comparison of logarithms is between an L point moving consistently
minus infinity, and an X point moving from zero towards infinity at a speed proportional to its
distance from zero. Napier's discovery made a general relation between the arithmetic and geometric
series; i.e., multiplication and rising to a power of the values of the X point correspond to addition
and multiplication of the values of the L point, respectively (John Napier and logarithms 2016). For
instance, in order to limit the L and X motion, the requirement is that L=1 at X=10, additionally to
that condition that X=1 at L=0. The change had contributed to the logarithm known as the Briggsian
at that time (Logarithms: The Early History of a

Logarithms During The Scientific Revolution Of The 17th...
Though the Scientific Revolution of the 17th century produced many inspiring inventions and
discoveries, one of the greatest contributions of the period, at least in the field of mathematics, was
the introduction of logarithms. Mathematically, a logarithm is denoted as follows logb(x)=y, where
y is the power to which b must be raised in order to produce the answer x. However, simply
explained, a logarithm is a quantity representing the power to which a fixed number, the base, must

Mbti Critique
The Myers–Briggs Type Indicator was developed in part to offer a form of Jung 's personality type
theory that is more coherent and useful in people 's lives. It has become one of the most accepted
and widely–used development tools for assessing personality characteristics in non–psychiatric
populations. Applications have been made across a broad range of human knowledge, including in
areas such as psychotherapy and counseling; education, learning methods, cognitive styles, career
counseling, and management and leadership in organizations. Isabel Briggs Myers devoted a great
deal of her life to the creation of an instrument that would be valuable to the largest possible

People use all of the type preferences and processes at various times, and each is appropriate in
certain situations. Be that as it may, one 's inborn inclination will predominantly determine which
are most used and which will in that case, be best developed. This gives rise to unlimited
alternatives, even among people of the same code type. Test Development The MBTI is
conceptualized as a psychological instrument to functionally apply an adaptation of Jung 's theory of
Psychological Types, which means that they would be attempting to measure the mind to a certain
degree. The question then becomes, are the use of mathematics and statistical methods a valid
means of measurement for attributes like intelligence or, in this case, personality. The word
indicator, rather than test, was probably used in naming the MBTI in order to refrain from
connotations of right or wrong, good or bad in completing the instrument. This fits in with Jung 's
theory and philosophy that all of the types are good. Structure and Administration The MBTI may
be administered in groups or individually. All key instructions are found on the cover of the question
booklets, and solutions are marked on answer sheets. The MBTI Accreditation Program is designed
to facilitate a standard format of administration, scoring and interpretation by accredited users

Short Story Of Poinsettia
A long time ago, far far away was a little village called Icelandic. The little village was an
excruciatingly hot town, ruled by the powerful Goddess Pavlof. The villagers would daily be in pain
from the vibrant heat, they wouldn't complain for their queen; for they knew what would punish the
courageous soul. The villagers would try to leave, but always ended up back in their homes or find
some reason to stay in the boiling town until death. One day, a villager tired of being scared, a
young woman of the name Poinsettia. Though, she was small and weak young lady, she knew it was
imperative for her to take action. She just wanted was to feel some kind of coolness in her life, even
though all she ever felt was the blazing heat. With a positive in mind state nevertheless, Poinsettia
marched into the castle with her confidence up to the roof and stood high while faced with the
queen, "Oh my dear goddess, may you let some of the cold air in the village?" Sitting at her thrown,
Goddess Pavlof looked down at her for a minute before she started to cackle. The only sound that
was heard throughout the castle was her cackle echoing through the halls of the castle, as she wiped
the tears in her eyes from laughter Pavlof told her,"The only way you'll ever feel the cold is if it
rained from the sky," said the Goddess. As she cackled, she signaled the guards to take her to the
dungeon. Without putting up a fight, she allowed the guards to lift her off the ground and take her to

The Art Of Speedreading People, Paul D. Tieger And Barbara...
Personality Typology
Have you ever met someone who thinks, acts or talks just like you? Alternatively, have you ever just
"clicked" with someone? What if these interactions were not a coincidence at all but instead very
predictable. In their book The Art of SpeedReading People, Paul D. Tieger and Barbara Barron–
Tieger expound on this subject.
People come in all shapes and sizes, and, certainly, every person is unique. However, you'll
probably agree that some people are much more alike than others. Moreover, behavior that may
seem random is, in fact, quite understandable and often even predictable, once you understand that
person's inborn, natural personality, or genetic blueprint . . . Which describes basic psychological
characteristics. Moreover, one's personality is by far the best and most reliable predictor of behavior.
(9)
Personality psychology is the way to understand better the innate workings of people and how their
personalities determine their behavior. Within the broad subject of this study, there are many sub–
categorical studies one of which is called Personality Typology.
According to The American Heritage Dictionary of the English, Personality is "the pattern of
collective character, behavioral, temperamental, emotional, and mental traits of a person." (1351)
Typology is "the study or systematic classification of types that have characteristics or traits in
common."(1935) When put together, personality typology is "the study or systematic classification

Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs & Myers–Briggs Type Indicator
Introduction
Like in sports, in business the performance of team is not just based on the individual talents. It is
also, and maybe even more, based on the global efficiency of the team. To be efficient, a team leader
needs to ensure that all the team players are pulling at the same rope, towards the same direction.
That first step ensures that all the energy that is spent, is used in favor of the objective and not
against it. A second step is to set the team organization, in a way that each team member is in the
position to deliver its maximum performance. To make this possible, a team leader has to
understand the individuals' and interpersonal dynamics of the team. ... Show more content on

It allowed making the best possible match between their aptitudes and the requirements of the
different tasks.
Factors to consider to manage teams effectively
A leader has to ensure that the team is performing optimally and achieving the objectives expected.
Leaders have to follow–up and understand the level of motivation of the team members. The lack of
motivation is a good indicator that tells that something is going wrong. The level of motivation is a
direct link between a members' performance and therefore of the team's performance. The lack of
motivation could warn about many dysfunctions such as, the organization is wrong or not
appropriated anymore, the plan was not well communicated or not provided with enough training.
Eventually the lack of motivation could warn that there are communication problems within team,
or the objectives and rewards are not well understood or sufficient.
The role that an individual's personality can play in the success of the team
One's personality can diminish the success of team by affecting the motivation of the rest of the
team or complicating the team working mechanism. Those bad effects can happen in many different
ways. For instance, if a team player is not a communicator, and works in an environment that
requires communication, this team member performance will be impacted and so will be the
performance of the team.

This film looks at the life of Oscar Grant in the hours leading up to his death. This film takes on
more of the racial issues of today's society as well as the growing divide between residents and
police. This movie was shot in Oakland, California as well as the BART station where Oscar Grant
was killed. While the film only follows Oscar Grant, the film hits on many of the key racial issues
African–Americans face today. The first thing that I noticed was how the film portrayed the city of
Oakland. In the film Oscar spent most of his time in the ghetto of Oakland, with the only portion of
the movie in which he wasn't was when he was in San Francisco. This was particularly irritating to
me being that I am from Oakland as well. While a great deal of Oakland is run–down there are
many nice parts of Oakland that the film left out in which Oscar was apart of. This pushes the
stereotype that African–Americans are "ghetto," or up to no good. This stereotype was even further
pushed when Oscar was blaring Rap music from his car as he was meeting his friend at Bay View
(Scene by the water). While much of the film portrayed Oscar to be a recovering low life, I did find
the director did an amazing job at ensuring that it was noted Oscar was a loving father. I believe the
film does create a bigger divide between residents and police. I will state I have a personal bias in
this case as my Aunt is a mutual friend to the cop involved in the shooting. Yet, while this movie
was great, the film used the highly publicized Trayvon Martin shooting to promote the film. The

Assessment And The Myers Briggs Indicator Essay
There are four specific assessments that we will be discussed in this paper. These include Campbell
Interest & Skill Survey, Strong Interest & Skill Survey, Self–Directed Search, and the Myers–Briggs
Indicator. In order to understand the applicability of each assessment and the positive and negative
attributes, including cost, it is important to research your options and determine what is a good fit
your you. Campbell Interest & Skill Survey is an assessment published by Pearson meant to
measure vocational interests and inventory for career planning. It also measures an individual's
confidence to perform in various activities and attraction to specific occupational areas. The
assessment's target population includes college bound or college–educated individuals. In order to
administer/interpret this assessment one must be a counselor, psychologist, or human resource
professional. The time required to administer the assessment is approximately 25 minutes and
includes 200 interest and 120 skill items and requires a 6th grade reading level. The assessment can
be taken online or through the mail. If you submit your answers through the mail they are scored
within 45 hours of receipt and results are returned via standard mail. A starter kit includes 3 answer

National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) Our nation utilizes the NAEP to evaluate
subject–matter achievement, instructional experiences, and school environment. It covers twelve
different subject areas: the arts, civics, economics, foreign language, geography, mathematics,
reading, science, technology and engineering literacy, U.S. history, world history, and writing. Each
assessment takes 90 minutes. Currently it is a paper–and–pencil test, but it is moving into computer
based applications. It is conducted in a group setting and submitted to another party for scoring. The
results do not provide individual scores. The goal of this assessment is to represent a report card for
the nation as a whole. However, each state can get the data for its region. Educators can use this
information to collaborate and determine what general areas need improvement or greater focus. B.
End–of–Course–Tests (EOCT) Georgia requires that students take EOCT's at the completion of a
particular class in high school. It assesses the mastery of content and counts as 20% of the student's
final grade. There are two different forms of the test: state and local. State assessments focus on the
content areas of Coordinate Algebra, Analytic Geometry, Mathematics II, GPS Geometry, United

Harvey Milk And Its Impact On The Gay Community
A man by the name of Harvey Milk has left a mark on those in support of and the community of
lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) worldwide. Harvey Milk served as the first openly
gay individual to be elected into public office. Harvey Milk left a positive impact on the gay
community and the Castro district of San Francisco through his contributions in politics and stance
as an openly gay man. He can also be attributed to being the most influential gay individual to hold
political office in United States history.
Harvey Milk was born in Woodmere, New York to a Jewish family. He played football and enjoyed
opera in high school, however he hid his love for opera from his friends (Shilts 1982: 8). Although
he acknowledged himself as a homosexual in high school, he kept it a secret from everyone else. He
attended the New York State College for Teachers in Albany where he majored in Mathematics and
minored in History. Upon graduation, Milk entered the United States Navy serving during the
Korean War. He served the nation for four years and was then discharged from the Navy as a junior
grade lieutenant for suspicion of homosexuality.
Homosexuality was looked down upon in this time period. A person could be arrested, even on
suspicion of homosexual status. A homosexual risked a police raid by going to a gay bar during the
1950s. The fear and anxiety of being raided by the police, pushed many into nearby parks and many

The Importance Of Preparing Dinner At West Chester Grove
Roasted chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy, biscuits, and a vegetable melody was what Phillip's

she had assembled it from scratch, But, thankfully, the whole process was streamlined given that she

Mary Celeste : A Comparison : The Captains Of The Amazon
In 1861 one of the first large ships built on Spencer's Island, Nova Scotia was the Amazon weighing
282 tons. Even though she was one of many, the Amazon differed from the rest of them, because
many "said she was cursed" (Lyons 48). She possessed three different captains before going six
years without any incidents occurring. After nine days of being captain, her first captain, Robert
McLallan, caught pneumonia and died. The second captain of the ship, John Nutting Parker,
collided the ship with a fishing boat. After taking the ship back for restoration, "a fire broke out in
the middle of the ship and Captain Parker was let go" (Lyons 48). Not long after, the Amazon struck
another ship which led to termination of the third captain. For the next six years, the Amazon sailed
successfully with no issues (Lyons 48). When discovered in a storm, her six year streak came to an
end in 1867. Fed up with her misfortune, the owners sold her to Robert Haines from New York.
After nursing her back to health, Robert Haines "transferred her from her Canadian to American
registry" and gave her the now famous name Mary Celeste (Lyons 48). Haines sold the vessel to
James Winchester, Benjamin Spooner Briggs (her new captain), and two others who shared
ownership over the now American ship (Lyons 48). On November 7th, 1872, the Mary Celeste
along with the Dei Gratia set sail from New York headed to Genoa, Italy carrying "1,701 oak barrels

To Kill A Mockingbird Character Analysis
"Don't judge a man until you've walked two moons in his moccasins." This is a common Native
American proverb, and also a quote from the book Walk Two Moons, by Sharon Creech. This is
telling you to look at a situation from someone else's point of view before making a decision. By
doing this, you become inadvertently more sympathetic and compassionate towards other people.
Many times in To Kill a Mockingbird, the main characters: Scout, Jem, and Atticus, look at
something from another person's shoes. On page 30, Atticus gives Scout this advice and at first she
doesn't understand it. As the book progresses, she sees the meaning of his words and becomes more
sympathetic as a result. Some cases of these three characters taking this advice are the interactions
between Jem and Ms. Dubose, Atticus talking to Jem about the snowman that Jem made, and at the
very end when Scout walks Boo Radley back to his house after the night when Jem broke his arm.
In the novel and the film, the character Ms. Dubose was an ill, as in sick, ill, as in ill–tempered, and
old, as in very very old woman who lived on the street that Scout and Jem lived on. Her house was
several down and across from them, but the two kids still had to pass it every time they went to

everything. They both would become very angry or possibly scared or nervous by certain things she
said. Some examples include her saying that it's

doing so and I feel I have grown and improved in my own role because of it. Three concepts that

I Am A Visual Learner
I have known for quite some time that I am a visual learner. It is much easier for me to grasp a
concept if I am shown how to do something by demonstration rather than reading instructions. I
become very frustrated rather quickly if I have to rely solely on written instructions. When I become
frustrated, I tend to be easily distracted and focusing becomes an issue. How people take in
information and the decisions they make or conclusions they come to about that information is their
learning style. A learning styles assessment can be taken to determine the way in which individuals
learn best. One such assessment is the VARK Inventory. John N. Gardner and Betsy O. Barefoot,
authors of Your College Experience define this inventory as follows, "The VARK inventory, a
sixteen–item questionnaire, focuses on how learners prefer to use their senses (hearing, seeing,
writing, reading, experiencing) to learn. The acronym VARK stands for "Visual," "Aural,"
"Read/Write," and "Kinesthetic" (70). A visual learner prefers seeing, an aural learner prefers
listening, a read/write learner prefers their information be presented in written form and kinesthetic
learner prefers a hands–on learning approach. When you know and understand your learning style,
you will be aware of what you need in order to learn effectively. Not everyone learns in the same
way and there is no best way to learn. What works for one person, may not work for another. The

Personal Narrative: My Roots Essay
At only seven years old, pulling the starter rope on my older brother's Boston Whaler is no easy
task. After a dozen tries, I finally call for my dad who is on the other dock dealing with the fishing
gear. In what seems to take hours, he walks over to me and shakes his head. Before we had even

wanting to feel like a "big kid." With one simple tug from my father's strong arm, the old Briggs &
Stratton engine purred to life, as if brand new. Switching into the forward gear, I roared off the dock

He wouldn't let us start up the engine (falsely claiming it didn't work, but I knew it was because he

bushes, threatening to scratch the beautiful paint job. Watching from the upstairs window, I
jealously saw many take it out for a spin at my grandparents summer parties, some as undeserving
as little children would have been after a few drinks. Shiny and red, it looked like the perfect child's

A failed attempt in automobiles brought Stephen Briggs back to the inventing room, this time
focusing more on engines for other uses, and finally coming up with the stationary Type "P" engine.
This revolutionized the 4–cycle gasoline engine industry and set the course for Briggs & Stratton.
By the 1940's, Briggs & Stratton was one of the country's largest manufacturers of small gasoline
engines for home and farm use. Ultimately, "Briggs & Stratton" and "Lawn mower" became almost
synonymous. Lightweight, easy to use, and durable; the company's engines took the lead in

While the children are on the trip they cause a lot of chaos and mischief. They do many things that
they shouldn't be doing. They really enjoy the day though and don't want to go home. The trip and
class frequently bother Mr Briggs throughout the play. Mr Briggs is not used to the type of children
who are on the trip that he is supervising, he was asked to go on the trip by the headmaster. He
teaches the children in the main part of the school who are more intellectual. The headmaster asked
Mr Briggs to assist Mrs Kay on the trip as he thinks Mrs Kay is not capable and has the control to
take the children on a trip. She is more like a mother or a friend to the children than the teacher she
is meant to be. 'She always reminds me of a mother hen rather than a teacher'.
At the core of the play the contrast lies between Mrs Kay and Mr Briggs and their respective
educational philosophies. Mr Briggs is more concerned that the trip, in which he had no part in
organising, should be an educational experience for the pupils and is appalled both by her attitude

Analysis Of Consultancy Project Course Module
Introduction "We do not learn from experience. We learn from reflecting on experience". (John
Dewey, 1939). Reflection is a powerful mechanism to turn one's own experience into learning.
Reflection will be useful to make self–improvement and to attain self–empowerment in the future.
In Consultancy Project course module, not only did I get the opportunity to work for a project in a
real business but also learned to reflect critically on my experience and knowledge I gained from
class activities and the project. Although, I went through many challenging moments from the
project start–up onwards which made it seem like an endless journey, but many if not most, of these
challenges has ameliorated my skills in consulting. Unlike, some of my ... Show more content on

In my reflective essay, I am going to use Borton's (1970) Model of Reflection. I choose this module
to reflect due to the fact that it is simple yet pragmatic. It helps me to reflect using only three
questions: What happened? So what did I learn? and Now what should I do in the future?
(Jasper,2003). There are three main reflections in this essay. For each reflection, I will first describe
the situation, my feelings and what my team mates and I did in the situation. I will then analyse each
situation in order to learn from the experience. Finally, I will talk about my future action plan based
on the analysis of my experience. In the first group meeting, during which we had a brainstorming
session to generate advertising ideas for Girlguiding North West England's volunteer recruitment
campaign, I was really hesitant to speak out my ideas to my teammates because I didn't know them
very well as most of them were from different courses. I was too quiet and didn't contribute much
unlike some of my colleagues who did a lot of talking. At the same time, I was also worried about
what my team members would think of me for being the quietest one in the group. Furthermore,
people around me also used to tell that I am so shy and anti–social. In those moments, I asked
myself, "Why do people say so when I am really not ?", and deep

My Results And Observations From The Four Career Profile
This assignment asks me to summarize my results and observations from the four career profile
activities. Those four career profile activities are Interests, Personalities,Values, and Skills. All four
of these topics help define who you are, what you are good at, and what actions you will take. For
the first career profile activity, Interest, I will be talking about my results from my three letter
code(RIASEC) and my SDS(Self–Directed Search) assessment. For the second career profile
activity, Personalities, I will be talking about my results from my preliminary MBTI mini(Myers–
Briggs Type Indicator) code, my "functional pair" in my preliminary MBTI, and information about
the characteristics of my MBTI. For the third career profile ... Show more content on

The personalities in RIASEC stand for R– Realistic, I– Investigative, A– Artistic, S– Social, E–
Enterprising, and C– Conventional. Once taking this assessment it is real easy to narrow down your
search for career paths that you would potentially interested in. The Myers–Briggs mini is another
assessment that I took. In this assessment, there are four sections. Extroverts vs Introverts, Sensing
Types vs Intuitive Types, Thinking Types vs Feeling Types, and Judging Types vs Perceptive Types.
None of these choices are the right or wrong answers. It's just a self–eval. On this assessment, there
are the two choices, one on the left side and one on the right side. Underneath them, both are
examples of preferences in their certain category. Then between these two choices is a line with a
midpoint. On this line, the user has to rate himself/herself on where they think they are. More
towards the left side or the right side? On my Myers–Briggs, I got an ISFJ personality. This means
my functional pair is SF. The functional pair is always in the middle. Some examples of functional
pairs are ST, SF, NF, and NT. This assessment, in my opinion, also really helps you find out more
about yourself. Perhaps even something you didn 't even know about you. For example according to
Otto Kroeger, my personality is committed to getting the job done. I am conscientious, loyal,
dedicated, and work well when roles and

John L Holland Developed A Test

  • 1. John L Holland Developed A Test John L Holland Developed a test, producing three letter codes to describe types. Holland believed there were six basic traits that combined to make a person's personality. The six traits are Conventional, Enterprising, Social, Realistic, Investigative, and Artistic. Three letter codes, derived form the first letter of each of the three highest related traits, are shown after the test is taken (Rayman, 2008). My personality type from this test was ACS, Artistic, Conventional, and Social (Rounds). Artistic was my highest score, and I think this is accurate. Currently I have an artistic social career goal in a collaborative art form. I think this will be a good fit based on this test. I can see evidence of my conventionality being fiscally conservative. Some careers that may be a good match are a teacher, program director, or social worker. These careers are exactly what I was thinking, but they would be a more practical application for someone with a high artistic trait. The Myers–Briggs Type Indicator Designed in the 1940s by American author Isabel Briggs Myers and her mother Katharine Cook Briggs, this objective test attempts to determine a person's personality type. It can commonly be applied to career one has chosen of will choose. There seems to be reasonable correlation between the indicator results, shown by a four–letter combination, and the career types people of that type choose. Due to it's wide use in career counseling and business, the Consulting Psychologists ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Career And Life Planning : The Myers Briggs Type Indicator... Career and life planning in ones life is essential to having a long and successful career. I feel without a plan, you plan to fail. Through hard work and dedication you can get anywhere you want in life. By mapping and planning situations you encounter in life, you set goals and tasks, which might be small at first. But will add up over courses of time. Career and life planning helps me with my academic and social life. Planning ahead and structuring my time spent helps me make daily decisions. By always using and looking at time spent as an investment for the future, planning helps me see what is necessary. A quote from Benjamin Franklin sums this up fairly well, "If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail." By taking the Myers Briggs Type Indicator assessment, I was given detailed information of how I answered the questions. These questions help identify what career paths and occupations would be a good fit for me. The Myers Briggs Type Indicator has been used for over 60 years and has helped people become more satisfied and successful in their careers. Based off of the responses I had given for the assessment I had been reported that my type is ESTJ. By having a reported type of ESTJ it shows that I was clear to moderate in Extraversion, Sensing, Thinking and Judging. Being clear to moderate in these preferences allowed me to further understand where I focus my attention on, they way I take in information, decision making and how I judge the outside world. An ... Sepich MBTI Analysis Rachelle Sepich Liberty University Abstract Although this was not the first personality assessment that I?ve completed, after reading this week?s study material, I can honestly say that I have gained a more expansive understanding and perspective on the subject. First, I had not considered the correlation between our covenant with God and the responsibility that we should maintain a similar engagement with one another on a day–to–day basis (Presentation: Lesson 1 ? A Worldview Perspective on Organizational Behavior, 2012). While I knew that our personality type could provide context to how we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It may sound like a perplexing question; but after taking the MBTI assessment, I am increasingly convinced that I?m not as indescribable as I thought. There?s a humorous list of MBTI prayers that provide a comical synopsis of each type. Mine states, ?Lord help me to relax about insignificant details beginning tomorrow at 11:41.23 am e.s.t.? (Prayers for Myers–Briggs Types, n.d.). This sums me up in a nutshell! As I reviewed my MBTI results, most of my percentages have not drastically changed over time. This gives me continued confidence in the following MBTI results which indicate I am an ?ISTJ?: introvert (16%), sensing (9%), thinking (31%) and judging (53%) (Jung Typology Test, 1998–2017). As I read more about my style, I can honestly say that there were few, if any, points that I disagreed with. In summary, I do not get my energy from engaging in large crowds. Analysis by paralysis is a real challenge for me, given I have a knack for the details. I won?t let my feelings get in the way of a decision which can be a relationship inhibitor if I don?t keep an eye on it. Steve Harmon Character Analysis CHARACTER DESCRIPTION INVOLVEMENT Steve Harmon Steve Harmon is a 16–year–old black man who is being convicted of felony murder and participating in a holdup at a drugstore. Steve grew up in a bad neighborhood and on multiple occasions admired the tough thug guys and even wanted to be like King (pg 96). His flashbacks show us that Steve did talk to King, Johnny and Cruz about a planned holdup, (pg 50) though in court he outright lies and says that he never talked to either one of them about anything important enough to remember (pg 226). When in prison, Steve is terrified of the other guys and guards (pg 96) and gives us the impression that he is innocent and doesn't belong there. Steve wants to make himself different than the other guys in his mind and the mind of the jury, but he goes through hard times where he sees himself as just another criminal (pg 129.) He proves to be a pretty good kid in his film class with Mr. Sawicki (pg 234) and loves his little brother, Jerry (pg 58). Steve sees himself as a good person, though he admits that he has made mistakes. Steve's biggest struggle throughout the novel is against his moral, as he tries to figure out if he really he is a "monster" like Petrocelli called him. Filmmaking becomes his way of coping with the environment while on trial. Through his screenplay his can separate himself from his inner and outer fears and make sense of his experience. • 9. Essay on Willy Russell's Our Day Out Willy Russell's "Our Day Out" Willy Russell has written many plays over the last thirty years, but there is one feature that is common to all of them: the issue of social and cultural background. This is the situation of the characters; their surroundings; their class; the society in which they are brought up, and the culture of that society. It is this that can lead to the behaviour, feelings, opinions and general outlook of the characters. Russell explores the effects that society and culture can have on people in all his plays, but in none is it so poignant as in 'Our Day Out', the story of what happens when Mrs Kay takes her Progress class out of inner–city Liverpool on a school trip to Conwy Castle, Wales. Throughout ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The children also use slang words. For example, they refer to the Corporation as 'The Corpy', bonfire night as 'bommy night', and cigarettes as 'ciggies'. In any society, the colloquial dialect is an essential part of the culture, and the use of it in 'Our Day Out' forcefully conveys to the audience the essence of the background of these children. Symbolism plays a significant part in 'Our Day Out', because it gives Russell the opportunity to display how the children feel about their hopeless situations, without having to state it in the text or put it in the dialogue. This is important because the children don't necessarily know how they feel, or if they do they can't express it, so to put it in the dialogue would be inconsistent with their characters. If Russell had put it in the stage directions it would not be experienced to its full impact when people see the play on television or on the stage. Russell also probably didn't want to be so explicit; some things, such as the knowledge of the hopelessness of the children's situations and the destitution they are facing, are more poignant and affecting when implied through some form of symbolism rather than directly stated. The two most obvious symbols in the play are the analogies of the bear in the pit at the zoo and the goldfish in the bag Carol wins at the fair. In the first case the bear represents the children, and the pit represents Liverpool. The children are trapped in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Bandura's Theory : The Career Decision Making... The MBTI is a well–known personality and traits inventory. It can be a insightful tool for individuals to better perceive themselves and recognize the rationale behind their personal behaviors according to Drummond et al. (2016). Katherine Briggs and Isabel Myers, a mother and daughter, created the first MBTI for the purpose of helping individuals to accept and understand their distinct personalities, preferences and differences (Myers & Briggs Foundation, 2017). After working on the inventory for many years they acknowledged, embraced and added the theory and philosophy of psychiatrist Carl Jung to the inventory (Harrell, 2017). This is an objective inventory that can be utilized by adolescents and adults, does not take much time to complete and is self–scored (Drummond, Jones, & Sheperis, 2016). The Career Decision Making Self–efficacy Scale (Betz, & Taylor, 2001) short form is an assessment utilized to determine self–efficacy and confidence level in one's own abilities to complete undertakings that may responsibly lead to rewarding and prosperous career outcomes (Betz & Taylor, 2001). Betz & Taylor (2016) state the Career Decision Making Self–efficacy Scale (CDMSE) is based on Albert Bandura's theory pertaining to his belief that self– efficacy and expectations of an individual are directly related to and may determine the success of the individual. Whether it was mutiny, piracy, or a false emergency, the case has remained largely unsolved. The Mary Celeste was an abandoned ship found off the coast of Portugal in the late 1800s, and investigators still struggle to come up with a definite answer to the mystery. The rest of the theories, not including ghosts, would be natural phenomena. A seaquake, severe storm, or even a creature of unparalleled proportions are some of the possible things that would cause the crew to abandon ship, however these suspicions are easily refuted with things like the missing lifeboat and tidy crew belongings. • 16. Theories Of The Mary Celeste It is a century old mystery that is surrounded with controversy. What happened to The Mary Celeste? This historical mystery has many theories surrounding what happened to Captain Briggs and crew. Some more accurate than others like mother nature, criminal conspiracies and, an explosion. However, the most likely of all the theories is the alcohol explosion. The alcohol explosion is the most realistic scenario of what happened to The Mary Celeste. The Mary Celeste was carrying nine barrels of alcohol, which the barrels were made of red oak not white oak. This could be a reason why the barrels were found empty. The reason is red oaks are more porous, which leads to a slow leakage through them. This creates alcohol vapor in the hold. Along with the barrels being red oak, the barrels were tied together with steel bands. All the bands had to do was rub together to cause friction and let off a spark which would create an explosion. So when captain Briggs heard or saw the start of the explosion, he would order everybody into the lifeboat. But some may wonder why they couldn't get back to the boat with the rope that connects the lifeboat to the boat. Well they may have been in such a frantic that they were not able to tie the lifeboat to the boat or their rope broke and they were whisked away by mother nature. The only thing that doesn't confirm this theory is that when the boat was found there were no burn marks. This would suggest that there was no explosion. However, this is the ... • 18. The Discovery Of The Logarithm The Contributors of Logarithms The discovery of the logarithm is a great mathematics breakthrough made by John Napier and Joost Burgi. These two mathematicians had different concepts of the logarithms and its present use today. John Napier's logarithms were published in 1614, while six years later, in 1620, Burgi's logarithms were published (A REVIEW OF LOGARITHMS 2016). Both Napier and Burgi invented logarithms in order to simplify mathematical calculations. To reach their goals, they used two different methods; Napier used the algebraic method and Burgi used the geometric method. In conclusion, Burgi's discovery of relating geometric and arithmetic series is the reason why he has a great contributor to the development of logarithms. The other important contributor to the development of logarithms in 1614 was John Napier, a Scottish mathematician. His incentive was to help in the multiplication of sine quantities. The entire sine was the value of the side calculated of a right angle triangle with a large hypotenuse. In participation with the English mathematician Henry Briggs, Napier transformed his logarithm into its present day shape. The comparison of logarithms is between an L point moving consistently minus infinity, and an X point moving from zero towards infinity at a speed proportional to its distance from zero. Napier's discovery made a general relation between the arithmetic and geometric series; i.e., multiplication and rising to a power of the values of the X point correspond to addition and multiplication of the values of the L point, respectively (John Napier and logarithms 2016). For instance, in order to limit the L and X motion, the requirement is that L=1 at X=10, additionally to that condition that X=1 at L=0. Though the Scientific Revolution of the 17th century produced many inspiring inventions and discoveries, one of the greatest contributions of the period, at least in the field of mathematics, was the introduction of logarithms. Mathematically, a logarithm is denoted as follows logb(x)=y, where y is the power to which b must be raised in order to produce the answer x. However, simply explained, a logarithm is a quantity representing the power to which a fixed number, the base, must be raised to produce a specific number. Harvey Milk left a positive impact on the gay community and the Castro district of San Francisco through his contributions in politics and stance as an openly gay man. He can also be attributed to being the most influential gay individual to hold political office in United States history. Harvey Milk was born in Woodmere, New York to a Jewish family. He played football and enjoyed opera in high school, however he hid his love for opera from his friends (Shilts 1982: 8). Although he acknowledged himself as a homosexual in high school, he kept it a secret from everyone else. He attended the New York State College for Teachers in Albany where he majored in Mathematics and minored in History. Upon graduation, Milk entered the United States Navy serving during the Korean War. He served the nation for four years and was then discharged from the Navy as a junior grade lieutenant for suspicion of homosexuality. Homosexuality was looked down upon in this time period. The Importance Of Preparing Dinner At West Chester Grove Roasted chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy, biscuits, and a vegetable melody was what Phillip's mother, Krista, had prepared her family for dinner. It was a meal that would have taken her all day if she had assembled it from scratch, But, thankfully, the whole process was streamlined given that she elected to use the house's food hydrator and cooker instead of conventional methods. The automated process of preparing dinner had also freed up more time for her writing, which she definitely needed as she was already late with her contribution to In shape fitness magazine. Martin Luther King Jr, Abraham Lincoln, Ronald Reagan, Nelson Mandela, Pope John Paul II and Oprah Winfrey are a few people who share my personality. According to Truity Psychometrics, ENFJs comprise 3% of the world's population. In the entire world, there are only 16 personality types according to Myers– Briggs Type Indicator. • 31. Mary Celeste : A Comparison : The Captains Of The Amazon In 1861 one of the first large ships built on Spencer's Island, Nova Scotia was the Amazon weighing 282 tons. Even though she was one of many, the Amazon differed from the rest of them, because many "said she was cursed" (Lyons 48). She possessed three different captains before going six years without any incidents occurring. After nine days of being captain, her first captain, Robert McLallan, caught pneumonia and died. The second captain of the ship, John Nutting Parker, collided the ship with a fishing boat. After taking the ship back for restoration, "a fire broke out in the middle of the ship and Captain Parker was let go" (Lyons 48). Not long after, the Amazon struck another ship which led to termination of the third captain. For the next six years, the Amazon sailed successfully with no issues (Lyons 48). When discovered in a storm, her six year streak came to an end in 1867. Fed up with her misfortune, the owners sold her to Robert Haines from New York. After nursing her back to health, Robert Haines "transferred her from her Canadian to American registry" and gave her the now famous name Mary Celeste (Lyons 48). Haines sold the vessel to James Winchester, Benjamin Spooner Briggs (her new captain), and two others who shared ownership over the now American ship (Lyons 48). On November 7th, 1872, the Mary Celeste along with the Dei Gratia set sail from New York headed to Genoa, Italy carrying "1,701 oak barrels of non–drinkable alcohol for use in industry" ... • 32. To Kill A Mockingbird Character Analysis "Don't judge a man until you've walked two moons in his moccasins." This is a common Native American proverb, and also a quote from the book Walk Two Moons, by Sharon Creech. This is telling you to look at a situation from someone else's point of view before making a decision. By doing this, you become inadvertently more sympathetic and compassionate towards other people. Many times in To Kill a Mockingbird, the main characters: Scout, Jem, and Atticus, look at something from another person's shoes. On page 30, Atticus gives Scout this advice and at first she doesn't understand it. As the book progresses, she sees the meaning of his words and becomes more sympathetic as a result. Some cases of these three characters taking this advice are the interactions between Jem and Ms. Dubose, Atticus talking to Jem about the snowman that Jem made, and at the very end when Scout walks Boo Radley back to his house after the night when Jem broke his arm. In the novel and the film, the character Ms. Dubose was an ill, as in sick, ill, as in ill–tempered, and old, as in very very old woman who lived on the street that Scout and Jem lived on. Her house was several down and across from them, but the two kids still had to pass it every time they went to school or town. The Building and Leading Effective Teams module within the Tufts MSEM program has taught me numerous concepts which I have applied at my job. Just prior to the start of the semester I was placed on a capital project team to design and implement a new process step within our manufacturing stream. I was fortunate to have this assignment line up with this module as it has provided me with opportunity to apply the concepts being taught. I believe I have been successful in doing so and I feel I have grown and improved in my own role because of it. Three concepts that I've learned in this module and have applied at my place of work include providing feedback using the SBI model, becoming aware of and modifying mental models I had built, and improving a work relationship using the Myers–Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). The project team I am working on is comprised of a cross–functional team with members supporting the project with at least 50% of their time. As team members have additional job responsibilities outside of the project, the time spent on the project must be productive, especially during our weekly team meetings. There is one member on the team, John, who has been slow to step up and engage in the project. John's role on the team is to represent the end user of the project so their involvement is imperative to the team delivering a functional solution. • 34. I Am A Visual Learner I have known for quite some time that I am a visual learner. It is much easier for me to grasp a concept if I am shown how to do something by demonstration rather than reading instructions. I become very frustrated rather quickly if I have to rely solely on written instructions. When I become frustrated, I tend to be easily distracted and focusing becomes an issue. How people take in information and the decisions they make or conclusions they come to about that information is their learning style. A learning styles assessment can be taken to determine the way in which individuals learn best. One such assessment is the VARK Inventory. John N. Gardner and Betsy O. Barefoot, authors of Your College Experience define this inventory as follows, "The VARK inventory, a sixteen–item questionnaire, focuses on how learners prefer to use their senses (hearing, seeing, writing, reading, experiencing) to learn. The acronym VARK stands for "Visual," "Aural," "Read/Write," and "Kinesthetic" (70). A visual learner prefers seeing, an aural learner prefers listening, a read/write learner prefers their information be presented in written form and kinesthetic learner prefers a hands–on learning approach. When you know and understand your learning style, you will be aware of what you need in order to learn effectively. Not everyone learns in the same way and there is no best way to learn. After a dozen tries, I finally call for my dad who is on the other dock dealing with the fishing gear. In what seems to take hours, he walks over to me and shakes his head. Before we had even gotten to the Marina, Dad asked if I needed him to start the engine, and of course I declined, wanting to feel like a "big kid." With one simple tug from my father's strong arm, the old Briggs & Stratton engine purred to life, as if brand new. Watching from the upstairs window, I jealously saw many take it out for a spin at my grandparents summer parties, some as undeserving as little children would have been after a few drinks. Shiny and red, it looked like the perfect child's toy, but it was actually one of the more complicated and technologically advanced of my great– grandfather's inventions at the time it was introduced in 1922. With a 2 horsepower engine and it's amazing affordability, it was a unique automobile that no one else had on the market. A failed attempt in automobiles brought Stephen Briggs back to the inventing room, this time focusing more on engines for other uses, and finally coming up with the stationary Type "P" engine. This revolutionized the 4–cycle gasoline engine industry and set the course for Briggs & Stratton. By the 1940's, Briggs & Stratton was one of the country's largest manufacturers of small gasoline engines for home and farm use. Mr Briggs is more concerned that the trip, in which he had no part in organising, should be an educational experience for the pupils and is appalled both by her attitude and handling of the pupils.
