The Positive Aspects Of Censorship In Rap Music
Censorship, if used in the correct way and context, can be an appropriate way to counteract explicit
content in today's pop culture. Tupac, a famously known rapper, is frequently seen as a negative
influence on adolescents. Yet some of his lyrics include, "For every dark night, there's a brighter
day," "If you believe than you can achieve," and many more uplifting messages imbedded
throughout his songs. He has created a blend of inspiration, sentiment, and provision for the future,
even though his work is all in the rap industry. The censorship of rap music has become an
increasingly more popular debate topic as the genre takes over music charts worldwide. This notion
has begun to call more attention to the content of which the youth are tuning in to on a daily basis.
Parents and authorities are wanting to not only discourage the genre, but also rid it from radios, TVs,
and many streaming sites. Although some portions of rap can be violent and condescending,
censoring the genre would be repressing many positive aspects of it as well.
Throughout the rap culture, many songs touch on various challenging issues society faces
worldwide. Sexual harassment, abuse, drug addiction, and gang violence are among the most
popular controversial topics that appear on practically every rap album today. Censoring rap would
be acting as if these problems were not relevant and did not occur on a daily basis. Rapping about
these issues would not always be a negative entity. Rappers often call

The Aspects Of Roman Life Regarding Music
The feelings that the Ancient Romans had towards music could be described as ambivalent. They
admired it and at the same time, they condemned it. Music, nevertheless, played a role in Roman
society that, as time passed, became less and less important to the Romans. As a result, much of the
information about music in Ancient Rome has been lost in time. However what has been discovered
about this topic is quite fascinating, in spite of what it is lacking. The subsequent paragraphs will
explain some of the aspects of Roman life regarding music. This includes the history of music in
Ancient Rome, the instruments that the Romans played, the uses of music in their society and the
impact that music in Rome has had on the music of today. The Romans were not the most innovative
of ancient cultures when it came to music, as it wasn't held to the same importance in Rome as it
was in other cultures. Regardless, the Romans did very much enjoy music and admire its use in
other cultures. And so, instead of creating a Roman version of music, they borrowed the musical
instruments and musical theory from those other cultures. One of them was Etruscans. Though the
fact that the Etruscans had an impact on music in Rome is known, the magnitude of that impact is
unknown, but instruments used in Roman life such as the tuba and the cornu are believed to have
been borrowed from the Etruscans. However, it was the Greeks that had the greatest influence on
Roman music. A multitude of instruments used

The Critique Of World Music
Introduction
Is it a bird...is it a plane...? This is too "shay"... World Music Cliché?!
When dissecting music, we mainly tend to pay attention to its ethnicity, culture, whether or not its
indigenous, traditional or tribal. World music is flavoured by native music culture. Often native
music is considered sacred or used to dissolve egos and ignite their awareness of spiritual fire!
Ever listen to a piece of music and think, "I've heard this before?"
Western civilisation has forgotten about centuries–old reincarnations. Even in languages: The
English seem to forget about its Germanic Constructs.
We could consider World Music as a Pseudo–musical term in marketing...
We complain about this matter because of its ability to relegate something for its exotic experience;
cute, weird but safe, exotica is beautiful but irrelevant. The subtle way within in reasserts the
hegemony of Western Pop Culture. The context of world music has become so analogous. The fact
that we can appreciate it on the radio, T.V, internet etc. we also train our ears consciously and
subconsciously to adapt to Euro–American ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this way, world music is exploited for financial gain. One may argue that this is simply an
alternative manner of promoting world music, but the purpose of the artist is to promote him or
herself, not the world music as a style or its corresponding culture. The exploitation of world music
and aspects thereof also contributes to the loss of the music's unique character, as it is performed
outside of the context for which it was designed and for reasons other than those for which it was
created. The fact that artists make use of world music or its characteristics in order to make a profit
means that the music has been

Beats by Dr. Dre: Not the Average Headphones. Essay
What brings out the best music listening experience for people? How can we achieve that optimal
listening experience? The best listening experience, differs to many people because some believe the
best experience from music comes from the bass, some prefer dynamics and the highs and lows,
others enjoy noise cancellation and the rest enjoy all of the aspects listed. Whatever the sound
preference might be, there must be a worthy headphone in the market that addresses all these aspects
of the music to bring out the best experience. Though a headphone that accommodates all these
features might only seem available to recording artists and professional sound producers use in the
production studios, the Monsters Beats by Dr. Dre (Beats by Dre for ... Show more content on

Now that one understands what all the key musical aspects are, analyzing the key features of the
Beats by Dre headphone (specifically the sound driver and noise cancellation) can be easier.
Features and Specifications There are three different models of Beats by Dre on–ear headphone line:
the Solos, Studio, and the Pro which gets larger and holds more features respectively. But overall, all
three models of the Beats by Dre line carry the two most important features that make the sound so
unique. The first of the Beats by Dre features on all the models is the 40mm titanium coated sound
driver which cleans up most of the distortions and gives a very clean, crisp, and balanced sounds.
What a driver does is that it moves the diaphragm (a disk) in the earphone to create the sound. Thus,
using titanium to coat the driver helps remove the distortion of the music that people would
normally hear in cheaper headphones. In addition to the titanium coating, the size of the driver plays
an important role as well. The general rule of thumb for driver size is the bigger the better because
this also eliminates distortion of the music as well to amplify the bass, dynamics, and the highs to
lows. Beats by Dre's 40 mm size is relatively large in headphone terms which positively contributes
to the sound quality. Naturally, a better quality material along with the larger driver size used to

Hip Hop, AAnd Creative Aspect Of Music
Breaking through in the heart of the Bronx, Hip Hop was designed to empower and teach the youth,
while providing them an outlet for creative expression. Developed on five essential pillars, all
working towards: giving African Americans knowledge that they didn't have access to, inspiring
them to read and acquire true knowledge of self, and to understand the role that self has in America
in relation to the actual worth of self. Since the inception of Hip Hop, the genre has evolved through
the times while transcending new depths aligned with its original pillars.
An innovator in a sense, DJ Kool Herc founded Hip Hop by the early 70's. MC's, DJ's,
breakdancing, graffiti and music encompass the five pillars of Hip Hop. Modern inversions interpret
these pillars in many different ways. Prevalent through all major cities, graffiti evolved to the murals
on the side of buildings, and the creative aspect of music videos. Artists have visions interpreted in
the way they decide to imagine their visuals. Breakdancing has become the advance dance crazes
that sweep the nations. People in Japan are hitting the "Nae–Nae" because of Hip Hop's mass
globalization. MC's are the talk show host and commentators of award shows and hosts of events
and red carpet specials: media. Dispersion of Hip Hop through channels that connect Blacks across
different scopes happens through the media. Modern day DJ's introduce the new music with sets that

Music 's Impact On The Music Revolution
Musical revolutions can be defined by three key aspects which are: the venues music was made in,
the way the audience listened to the music, and the way the music was disseminated. These are
unique in that there is no clear separation between them and at times some of the changes that have
been made can impact all three at the same time. The age in which we live in is experiencing all of
these aspects to one degree or another. It is difficult for someone my age to understand that we are
living in a music revolution the likes of which has never been seen before.
From what I have learned in the History of American Pop music class it seems that the venues which
music has been made in will remain consistent for many years then drastically change. The first
music industry we have learned of consisted of composers who would write music for the
performers who would perform them with the possibility that someone in the audience could go to
the music shop and purchase the sheet music with the intention to play it themselves. This aspect
influenced the higher classes more than the lower classes since you would have to have money to
see the concert, buy the music, and own an instrument to play it on. At that time there was no major
companies who consistently put out music for the purpose of being consumed. The first time we can
see this concept being readily applied would be in Tin Pan Alley. Although Tin Pan Alley was still
producing sheet music it was created for the purpose

Caroline Palmer, professor at Ohio State University and has a Music Cognition Lab and a Cognitive
Psychologist. She has her PhD and researches about people remembering long sequences of speech
and music and how they make these sequences. The target audience for this article is psychologist,
researchers and psychology students. The article mentions a lot of psychological studies and
cognitive terms. It explains the terms in very simple forms, but the concept might be harder for a
regular everyday person to understand.
Palmer explains how playing music is not just a simple task, the performer puts a lot into it such as
emotion, speed, articulation and etc. The range of emotions one can feel from listening or

What Ever Happened To Baby Jane By Robert Aldrich
In the genre of film noir, "What Ever Happened to Baby Jane" is a 1962 American psychological
thriller that was directed and produced by Robert Aldrich. Aldrich created this film to use different
aspects to create many different emotions in the mind and the body of the audience as they watch
this cult classic. Five aspects that he used are lighting choice, music and instrumentation, makeup,
costume, and overt acting and expression. These aspects are used throughout the film in many
different ways. The first aspect used in this film is lighting choice. One way that the lighting choice
created emotions in the audience is whenever something bad is going to happen, the lighting gets
darker. For example, when Elvira (the house maid) set down the hammer and opened the locked
door that Blanche was in and Jane picked up the hammer and was about to kill Elvira, the lighting in
the room was darker than normal. Also, the use of dark lighting is used to create suspicious, dark, or
scary emotions. For example, when Jane is moving Elvira's body to her car, the setting is very dark
and creates dark, suspicious, and scary emotions. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One way that music and instrumentation is used in this film is whenever something bad is about to
happen, the music and instrumentation gets louder and more dramatic. For example, when Jane
picked up the hammer, the music and instrumentation started to get louder and louder until she hit
Elvira causing dramatic and scary emotions. Another way music and instrumentation is used to
create emotions is when Jane sings "I've written a letter to daddy" as edwin plays the piano. This
creates a very disgusted emotion because she is very old and she can't sing like she did before when

He was able to make valid arguments however, if his arguments were all true, then it would suggest
that everyone's taste in music is formulaic. There are some aspects in society that have a structured
format, like the education system, the world of sports, and more. Producing and creating a song also
has a structure. Adorno would say that popular music and "its plugging are focused on habituation"
(Adorno, "On Popular"...32). In other words, the listener basically has to listen to the song multiple
times and be able to recognize the song in order to like it. If a listener like a certain artist or type of
music, repetition does not need to take place. Taylor Swift shows a sense of passion when presenting
her lyrics in a song, she creates emotion and engages with society through her lyrics. People like
Taylor Swift because, "the lyrics of her songs are a big reason for her popularity... and is known for
writing lyrics that resonate with people" (Quora 2015). In addition to the standardized structure
Adorno argues, while many of the music has the same formula to one another and pseudo–
individualism plays a key part in believing about originality of a song, Taylor Swift is infinitely
known for writing her own lyrics compared to the many other artist who have their songs written for
them. This shows how while Swift follows the general verse, chorus, verse, etc., she does indeed
have uniqueness to her music (Quora

29,35Music has played a vital role in human society. Music escorts in every activity as we can here
it everywhere around us all the time. In order for music to sound perfect, it should have best
harmony, rhythm, texture and melody. There are elements in music that help create a beautiful piece
of art.
Out of eleven elements of music include a Rhythm, rhythm is the flow of music through time, also it
can be defined as the specific order of note lengths in the music. For example, we can feel rhythm
when we breathe. A rhythm has several correlative aspects like beat, meter, accent, syncopation and
tempo (pg 29). There are five aspects of rhythm; however only three aspects has been covered in
this essay. "Beat" is the basic pulse or what our foot might tap to. Each measure has same number of

A "Meter" is known as time signatures in music, as they are always notated with two or more fixed
numbers, sometimes top and bottom of the one another, as they known as "duple" or "triple" meters.
A duple measure has two beats and a pattern with three beats of measure is called triple meter. As
end of each measure there is vertical lines mark, which known as downbeat. A downbeat is the
strong or weak beat distinction it has feeling of rest and endness. The pattern with four beats is an
"quadruple" meter. An unaccented pulse preceding the downbeat is an "upbeat", which separates
four beats. "Sextuple" meter contains six quick beats to the measure, "quintuple" has five beats and
"septuple" has seven beats. The Septuple meter used very often by today's

individuals who regard themselves as rap artists whereas what they do is mediocre, for the lack of a

World's Saddest Music Editing
"I'll let you in on a little secret, I don't believe that all this sadness really exists. Well, bad things
happen, plenty of it, not denying that. Somehow, when people start trying to show how they've been
affected by these bad things, they start faking it. They know that deep down no one really cares, but
they want people to know they're suffering damn it, and others will go along with it, making faces
hoping someone will notice, so that when something awful happens to them, they can get some of
this fake pity for themselves." The act of enjoying sadness and the ability to dramatize it is a
reoccurring theme throughout "The World's Saddest Music." It calls attention to itself by

On the basis of each timed performance, whether it be the Siamese vs. Mexicans, Canada vs. Africa,
Spain vs. America, and so forth, another aspect of continuity editing is present that further supports
the hybrid that exist sparingly throughout the film. The saddest music performances are debuted
using shot/reverse shot continuity editing. The final buzzer sound that communicates to each act to
perform simultaneously, debuts two shots edited together that alternates between each performing
country, similar to a conversation. Each country is at each other's necks, communicated and
intensified by the shot/reverse shot of which country is truly performing the saddest music.
Nonetheless, Soviet montage editing does triumph, as the music during these scenes correlates with
the editing of the image, revealing the rhythmic aspect of it. Furthermore, it's also evident that the
making of entertainment based on the pain of others feeds into the capitalist society. The artful
composition between opponents exploits misery for money. The increased sale of beer as the
audience enjoys each sad performance, further supports this theory, which is seen through the cuts
between the performers, the audience and the trickling coins after the purchase of beer. It allows
their actions to be guided by the concept of private property; The Saddest Music in the

Music Education: A Much Needed and Important Discipline
"A nation that allows music to be expendable is in danger of becoming expendable itself," said
Richard Dreyfuss during the Grammy Awards broadcast on the 28th of February (National Coalition
for music Education 14). This is a very interesting statement because it involves something that is
related to everyone –– school curriculum. When school budgets have to be cut, the music classes are
usually the first ones to be removed. Ironically, music is one of the most important areas of study
because of its positive effects on students' creativity, learning and growth, and everyday life. Since

Nurturing students' growth is another important aspect of music. Music gives students a comfortable
niche in which to grow, for everyone is welcome and capable of making music. After trying and
participating, students feel pride in their very own accomplishments through music. Working with
peers of the same musical interests and talents is a healthy experience. The idea of teamwork
appears again because it is so important. Students working together in something as challenging and
wonderful as music can give them more than adequate training for life's future situations. As Eiji
Oue, conductor of the conductor of the Minnesota Orchestra, wrote in Teaching Music, "They can
take the good experience from their hard work– the discipline, the practice, and the accomplishment
of being unified in an ensemble –– and apply it to whatever they want to accomplish later in their
lives" (45). Also, students mature as a group the more they work together. Helping each other as
they grow through music is an experience found nowhere else.
Another important aspect of music is that it is beneficial in everyday life. Music helps with learning
other subjects and performing daily activities because making and learning about music involves so
much. In Teaching Music, Bear Irwin, instrumental music supervisor for

Now, seeing as though the measurable aspect of SMART has been expressed, let us move to its next
part. When speaking about the 'attainability' of the DIY Project, in general, the goals are very
attainable: there already exist similar venues. So, without absolute perfection, this idea is attainable.
We simply invite musicians to play, we invite people to listen, and we invite people to create art.
Again, this is attainable. However, there is one aspect of the DIY Project that may be unattainable: a
alcohol/drug free venue. Unfortunately, some people enjoy sneaking such substances into venues.
For this reason, we will publically exhibit our disdain for drugs and alcohol in the venue: it ruins the
experience for too many people (speaking from prior–knowledge). Also, there must be staff that

Valerie and her week of wonders (1970) is a classical movie that weaves all aspects of entertainment

aspects that creatively intertwine together to bring out the entire movie include genres, characters,
music, symbolism, sound effects and special effects (Limpscomb 41). The interest of our discussion
is how the music applied as an aesthetic accompaniment brings out: the sensational, the narrative
progression, and a bridge from one thematic aspect to another. A sneak view of the key themes
elicited musically is spiritualism, morality, and feminism (Adamscovell 2).
The clearest theme illustrated musically is religion: a spiritual dispensation that plays the largest role

Ireland was a colony under British rule and regulation for many centuries. This alone had a major
impact on the morale and sense of nationalism among the people of the country (Galvin, Ireland's

otherwise known as the Great Famine, Ireland experienced years of extreme starvation and poverty,
as well as disease and emigration. This had a great influence on Ireland's development as a country.
Instead of having positive relationships with music and art, among other aspects of the culture, of
course, the people of Ireland had a negative outlook on most of life, and rightfully so. However,
music and song were held to be an even more important aspect of communication rather than spoken

The pattern of the song has a beat that repeats itself at a fixed rate. In addition to the fixed rate, the
song has an accent where one beat is emphasized and this can be heard by the increased volume of
that specific note. Towards the end of the song, the melodic contour of the song can be described as
a descending melodic contour as the pitches descend from high to low. This is done by the artist
holding out their voices for a lengthened amount of time. Furthermore, the phonic structure of this
piece can be described as a monophonic piece. Monophony means that the performers play the same
pitches with the same rhythms. Even though the song incompasses a wide varitey of instruments, the
rhythm of the song stays relatively the same Another important aspect of the song is the dynamics.
The beginning of the song can be classified as a crescendo because of the increased musical sound
from the instruments, however, towards the end there is a decrescendo as the volume falls off and
the artists holds on and extends the last note. The crescendo in the beginning of the song is
interesting to note because the song starts off acapella and gradually the volume begins to increase
when the first musical instrument comes into play. Last but not least, this piece of music contains a
lot of repetition. The vocal repetition of the songs title serves as a

Similarities Between Jazz And Rock 'N' Roll
The future of jazz lies in the music's spontaneity and liveliness. Aspects of the music, that have been
there since its conception, such as improvisation, make it forever subject to change, which is what
the music needs. The jazz music that is being created today is far from what the public expects to
hear in music. It will not be popular, but it stands a very good chance of being excellent music.
"Change in jazz is inevitable because, like language, communities change, provide new contexts that
require new expressions, or find new ways of doing things" (Nicholson 71). There will always be
people who appreciate jazz's complexity more than the music being played on the radio or the artists
selling the most records. Jazz is dead only in regards to its mainstream popularity, but the music
itself is very much alive. People are incorporating aspects of jazz style into their own works every
day by taking it in new and original directions. "Change occurs when someone wants the language

Other music genres, such as rock 'n' roll, country, and hip–hop have attempted to do the same by

rose from the outskirts of society to become an integral part of the American musical canon"

Movie Analysis : Black Swan And Gone Girl
The directors Darren Aronofsky and David Fincher key concern in Black Swan and Gone Girl are to
convey how destructive, unhealthy relationships can be to women. Women have become dependent
on the peoples in their lives for their sense of purpose. Both films depict women in a negative way.
In fact, each film suggests that women can be adversely impacted by the relationships they have
with others. In each film, the women characters are dependent on a strong character whom they rely
on mentally and emotionally. Therefore, this allows the directors to expand the stereotype people

In this scene, Nina is the main focus. With her mother Erica in the background throughout, no matter
if you can see her or not. Her voice and non– diegetic music is added to show how her mother
embodies Nina. With the use of sound as Erica pushes on the locked door, there is light music that
would put you to sleep. This calms the audience to portray that Erica is a caring, loving mother.
When Nina's mother becomes more invasive towards Nina the musical background intensifies. This
also intensifies when Nina traps herself. The director uses non– diegetic music to identify when
Nina is trapped physically and more importantly mentally. She confines herself away from her
mother and mental illness. Nina's reaction to her mother is the usual response to help and personal

Music And Modern Music
Music is an intriguing, inspirational and important driver of Creativity in modern day society. You
hear it around and about cities, in the media, in your local shopping center, in elevators, on hold
during a call etc. It is utilized in medicine, meditation, entertainment, recreation, and education.
Other than facilitating creativity and productivity, music itself is a product of creativity. It is one of
the most common depicters of ingenuity. From Beethoven, Mozart, Schubert, and Bach, to today's
Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, and Ed Sheeran, from classical music, Jaz and oldies, to today's Hip Hop, K
Pop, and country music, the methodology has changed dramatically, but its effect and contributions
to society remain unfazed. The dictionary defines music as "vocal or instrumental sounds (or both)
combined in such a way as to produce beauty of form, harmony, and expression of emotion", but
there is more to music other than its components. Music is a product of creativity that facilitates
communication of emotions that can't be expressed by words. There are the neurological aspects of
music and how it affects the various hemispheres of the brain. There's the cultural aspect of music
and how it influences the norms of society. There's the educational aspect of music and how it can
be applied towards nurturing creativity. There are the psychological aspects of music and how it can

Louise Labe
In sonnet XXI, Louise Labe, treats the physical aspect of male beauty as something that is
unimportant or perhaps not the main aspect of what she considers an ideal or beautiful man. This is
contradictory to Petrarch's approach, since he seems to focus more on the physical beauty of Laura,
such as when he describes her golden hair. As well Louise Labe questions what makes a man
beautiful or what she refers to as "stature that puts a man beyond compare". Through this sonnet
Labe tries to get across the point that while beauty may possibly be important, there are also
spiritual or emotional aspects of a man that can make them beautiful as well.

Negative Aspects Of Rap Music
While there are many positive things associated with rap music, the negative aspects must also be
considered while assessing the true value of the genre. In several studies, rap music has been found
to promote violent behavior due to its aggressive nature and questionable messages. One study, for
example, showed that when listening to rap songs that contained violent lyrics, college students
were more likely to associate with violent words and commit hostile actions. In contrast, music that
contained no violent lyrics had no discernable effect on the subjects' behavior (Palmer 15). Along
with its violent nature, there is also the issue that some rap music is degrading to women by
portraying them as sex symbols and playthings for men. When this type of attitude is broadcasted
for young people to listen to, the false idea that it is acceptable to mistreat women is presented. In
addition to the degradation of women, some rappers also use their lyrics to create distrust in the
police and question the justice system (Giovacchini 2). Some rappers have no respect for the law
and glorify their criminal actions. This can leave the impression on young, susceptible minds that
criminal behavior can be considered "cool" or justifiable. While all of these points are valid and
must be addressed, one also cannot ignore the positive ways in which rap music impacts youth and
these aspects must be considered when assessing the value of the genre as a whole.

then in the Cold War, behind the Iron Curtain, same thing. It was all underground, but they needed
the food of freedom that jazz offered" – Herbie Hancock. Looking back into history, you could
create a timeline of events with nothing but song titles. Music was not just music, it was a lifestyle.
Every major event in history has numerous songs that go along with or describe the happening. In
the following paragraphs, I will describe aspects and elements of music for pre–World War II, World
War II, and post–World War II. One could say that music was a form of expression throughout the
times of war, and the songs produced during this time period clearly express all aspects of life
before, during, and after the war. Pre–World War II had a huge impact on the course of our nation
and our world; not only musically speaking, but also in the terms of historical events. During this
time we saw events such as the Wright brother's first flight of an airplane in 1903, Ford Motor Co.

Music And Its Effect On Society
Music can produce many effects, mental and physical, in listeners and participants. Cultures
throughout history have recognized these effects and used music for healing, productivity, and
socialization. Currently different aspects that affect individuals' chemistry, development, and
performance are being studied. The placebo effect, a common mind over matter concept, will be
looked at in its relation to music. The chemistry behind music is not as revolutionary as one might
assume. For simplicity music is stimuli and the body has automatic responses to it. The base
response is the brain stem reacting to the tempo of the music (Chanda and Levitin pg 186). Music
increases blood flow in several regions of the brain, and dopamine bonding which allows for better
processing and more enjoyment (pg 182). When stimulating or fast music was played cortisol levels
increased, and with relaxing music cortisol decreased; cortisol opens pathways used for anti–stress
and anti–inflammatory processes. Listening to music and singing also increased production of
Immunoglobulin A, an antibody (Chanda and Levitin pg 184). This chemistry is the body preparing
itself for action; this action will be discussed to better explain what is happening when music is
listened to. There is widespread public knowledge of music's effect on the development of children,
mentally and physically. Participating in Physical Education activities paired with music with clear

Important Aspects Of Music Education
"Education– should enhance understanding of the world, of oneself, and of one's own experience"
(Kelly 2009). What is important about music education? There are many important aspects in music
education like pedagogy and performance. For me, music education is about letting the students
express themselves. Having the ability to give an idea or to vent is a vital tool in today's society.
This concept influences music because expression is not only in how to connect a phrase, but also
how to tell a story. With my time in college, Dr. Joseph Frye will always tell me to tell a story with
music. He will also ask me what I want to feel after playing a piece. This is what I believe is
important in music education. What is it about expression that makes it so important for music
education? Firstly, expression is the main source to music because you have all these different ways
to create music. Music can make a person feel great or can make a person feel down in the dumps.
Music could not do this to people if it did not have a little expression in it. Secondly, expression is
important to the emotional development. In an NAfME article, it states that students who were
involve with music are more emotionally developed (NAfME 2014). This statement is important
because with emotions most people need to express it, but it is usually harder to talk to someone
about it. So why not utilize music to do it? This ties back to music education because without music
education no one will know

Mathematical and Musical Harmony
For most people, mathematics is an unsolvable puzzle characterized by the impression of numbers

the general population mathematics appears to be to be strictly rational, abstract, cold and soulless.
Music, however, is involved with emotion, with feelings, and with life. It exists in all daily routines.
Everyone has sung a song, pressed a key on a piano, or blown into a flute, and therefore, in some
sense, made music. People can easily interact with it. Music is a way of expression and a part of

important elements often divide a picture's length or width (or both) following the golden

impression of beauty and harmony. Diverse studies have discovered that this same concept is also
very common in musical compositions. The golden section–expressed by Fibonacci ratios–is either

of the golden proportion in various musical periods. While the characteristics of the examined

Music has a huge influence on physical aspect of a sexual relationship, as well as the emotional part
of relationships. Music speaks to the mind, body and soul and many singers take advantage of this
influence to express their views on sex and relationships. Song lyrics often have implicit meanings
and literary references. One song in particular called "Stimulated," by the rapper Tyga; real name
Michael Ray Nguyen–Stevenson portrays the physical aspect of a sexual relationship. In his song
Stimulated, Tyga sings about having sex with his girlfriend Kylie Jenner before she turns eighteen.
The lyrics include "They say she young, I should've waited/She a big girl, dawg, when she
stimulated." These lyrics imply a coarse, vulgar, sparsely disguised metaphor for having sex. The
hidden message in these lyrics is that if the underage girl is stimulated, then it is okay to have
intercourse with her. Furthermore, Tyga is violating the age of consent openly while at the same
time indirectly admitting statutory rape. These lyrics are clearly encouraging the sexual battery of
statutory rape and blurring the age of consent for sex. The lyrics are hypothetically influencing the
thoughts and behaviors in a way that it is lessening the importance of statutory rape. Encouraging
the listener to take the age of consent and the offence of statutory rape lightly. Switching gears onto
the emotional component of relationships, the singer Britney Spears promotes the idea of dating a

Author Guthrie Ramsey states in Musing New Hoods that the music used in Do The Right Thing
depicts a range of associations that include "black male and female subjectivity, ethnic identity, a
sense of location, emotional and mental states, a specific historical moment, and the perspectives of
age groups" (Ramsey 314). The various characters in Do The Right Thing such as radio host Mister
Señor Love Daddy (played be Samuel L. Jackson) and Radio Raheem (played by Bill Nunn) use
hip–hop music to establish a sense of location, emotional states, and ethnic identity that is present
throughout the movie. In one scene, Radio Raheem is shown in a confrontation with a group of
Latinos playing Salsa music. Radio Raheem proceeds to blast his hip–hop music at full volume in
order to outplay the Latinos' Salsa music. This is another example of how music is used in the film
to display the ethnic identities of individuals, as well as the various emotional and mental states that
music can create. In addition to hip–hop music, Spike Lee implements a variety of music genres in
Do The Right Thing in order to create a certain ambiance and feeling. The use of orchestral music
throughout the film plays an important role in establishing specific emotions during scenes. Jazz and

Emotionality is found to be an important aspect of any kind of artistic study. Those who choose to
contribute in artistic advances such as drawing, painting, literature, theater, or music are continually
pressured to convey more emotion within their works. For example, Ella Fitzgerald's 1958 rendition
of "Blue Skies" uses a presto tempo and E major key to suggest the same feelings as Arthur Miller
wished to convey by describing how Willy Loman believes the aristocrats must feel. To similarly
convey this, Ella sings, "I never saw the sun shining so bright, never saw things going so right."
Willy believes that the aristocrats must feel similarly to this due to the fact that to Willy everything
seems to be going deplorably. Willy believes that if one is not plagued with the idea of being unable
to provide for his family, then they must be living as Fitzgerald suggests. Moreover, leaping to 2009,

The Classical Music : The Hindustani And The Carnatic
Hindustani Classical Music is a form of Hindu classical music that is believed to have originated
before the 13th century (CFCRAT). Before the 13th century, the Hindu Culture had not split their
music into types. But their culture soon pushed to two types of classical music after the 13th
century. This was because of the Islamic takeover of northern portions of the subcontinent that
introduced Arab and Persian music (Nettl). The two types of classical Indian music that were created
were the Hindustani and the Carnatic (CFCRAT).
During the 13th century of India, composer, Śārngadeva wrote the Sangītaratnākara which is
proclaimed to be the most influential piece in Indian Classical Music (Śārṅgadeva). Within this
book, Śārngadeva explains both types of Indian music, the Hindustani and the Carnatic. It is

Hindustani Classical Music as a whole (Śārṅgadeva).
Hindustani music is made up of ragas, which are a form of Hindu music that has melodic form, and

different forms over time. Music is the art of arranging sounds in time so as to produce a continuous,

words, music does not have to be organized sound or produced by instruments. This is what
composers and artists of experimental music discover. Experimental music is an art form, makes use

As well as being an art form, experimental music uses a variety of instruments and sound–producing

and sources of sound. Composers such as Luigi Russolo and George Antheil used sirens, whistles,
anvils, and machines to create sounds in their musical works (Ewen 95). In the 1930s through
1950s, some composers began to experiment with new types of sounds in music. The composer
Edgard Varese felt that "music had to be freed of all the inhibitions that centuries of tradition and
rules had imposed upon it (102)." Personally created instruments are also used in experimental
music. One of the composers who devised his own musical scale and instruments was Harry Partch
(158). He experimented with the new, unique instruments that he created to produce new music of
strange and different sounds. John Cage, a composer, wrote a piece for a toy piano. Experimental
music can use new, invented instruments and unconventional instruments.
Many different items that produce sound have been used in experimental music. A comb is used in
George Brecht's "Comb Music" to create a unique, delicate sound (Nyman 64). LaMonte Young had
a piece called "Poem for Chairs, Tables, and Benches, etc." in which

The Positive Aspects Of Censorship In Rap Music

  • 1. The Positive Aspects Of Censorship In Rap Music Censorship, if used in the correct way and context, can be an appropriate way to counteract explicit content in today's pop culture. Tupac, a famously known rapper, is frequently seen as a negative influence on adolescents. Yet some of his lyrics include, "For every dark night, there's a brighter day," "If you believe than you can achieve," and many more uplifting messages imbedded throughout his songs. He has created a blend of inspiration, sentiment, and provision for the future, even though his work is all in the rap industry. The censorship of rap music has become an increasingly more popular debate topic as the genre takes over music charts worldwide. This notion has begun to call more attention to the content of which the youth are tuning in to on a daily basis. Parents and authorities are wanting to not only discourage the genre, but also rid it from radios, TVs, and many streaming sites. Although some portions of rap can be violent and condescending, censoring the genre would be repressing many positive aspects of it as well. Throughout the rap culture, many songs touch on various challenging issues society faces worldwide. Sexual harassment, abuse, drug addiction, and gang violence are among the most popular controversial topics that appear on practically every rap album today. Censoring rap would be acting as if these problems were not relevant and did not occur on a daily basis. Rapping about these issues would not always be a negative entity. Rappers often call ... • 5. The Aspects Of Roman Life Regarding Music The feelings that the Ancient Romans had towards music could be described as ambivalent. They admired it and at the same time, they condemned it. Music, nevertheless, played a role in Roman society that, as time passed, became less and less important to the Romans. As a result, much of the information about music in Ancient Rome has been lost in time. However what has been discovered about this topic is quite fascinating, in spite of what it is lacking. The subsequent paragraphs will explain some of the aspects of Roman life regarding music. This includes the history of music in Ancient Rome, the instruments that the Romans played, the uses of music in their society and the impact that music in Rome has had on the music of today. The Romans were not the most innovative of ancient cultures when it came to music, as it wasn't held to the same importance in Rome as it was in other cultures. Regardless, the Romans did very much enjoy music and admire its use in other cultures. And so, instead of creating a Roman version of music, they borrowed the musical instruments and musical theory from those other cultures. One of them was Etruscans. Though the fact that the Etruscans had an impact on music in Rome is known, the magnitude of that impact is unknown, but instruments used in Roman life such as the tuba and the cornu are believed to have been borrowed from the Etruscans. However, it was the Greeks that had the greatest influence on Roman music. A multitude of instruments used ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. The Critique Of World Music Introduction Is it a bird...is it a plane...? This is too "shay"... World Music Cliché?! When dissecting music, we mainly tend to pay attention to its ethnicity, culture, whether or not its indigenous, traditional or tribal. World music is flavoured by native music culture. Often native music is considered sacred or used to dissolve egos and ignite their awareness of spiritual fire! Ever listen to a piece of music and think, "I've heard this before?" Western civilisation has forgotten about centuries–old reincarnations. Even in languages: The English seem to forget about its Germanic Constructs. We could consider World Music as a Pseudo–musical term in marketing... We complain about this matter because of its ability to relegate something for its exotic experience; cute, weird but safe, exotica is beautiful but irrelevant. The subtle way within in reasserts the hegemony of Western Pop Culture. The context of world music has become so analogous. The fact that we can appreciate it on the radio, T.V, internet etc. we also train our ears consciously and subconsciously to adapt to Euro–American ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this way, world music is exploited for financial gain. One may argue that this is simply an alternative manner of promoting world music, but the purpose of the artist is to promote him or herself, not the world music as a style or its corresponding culture. The exploitation of world music and aspects thereof also contributes to the loss of the music's unique character, as it is performed outside of the context for which it was designed and for reasons other than those for which it was created. The best listening experience, differs to many people because some believe the best experience from music comes from the bass, some prefer dynamics and the highs and lows, others enjoy noise cancellation and the rest enjoy all of the aspects listed. Whatever the sound preference might be, there must be a worthy headphone in the market that addresses all these aspects of the music to bring out the best experience. Though a headphone that accommodates all these features might only seem available to recording artists and professional sound producers use in the production studios, the Monsters Beats by Dr. Dre (Beats by Dre for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Now that one understands what all the key musical aspects are, analyzing the key features of the Beats by Dre headphone (specifically the sound driver and noise cancellation) can be easier. Features and Specifications There are three different models of Beats by Dre on–ear headphone line: the Solos, Studio, and the Pro which gets larger and holds more features respectively. But overall, all three models of the Beats by Dre line carry the two most important features that make the sound so unique. The first of the Beats by Dre features on all the models is the 40mm titanium coated sound driver which cleans up most of the distortions and gives a very clean, crisp, and balanced sounds. What a driver does is that it moves the diaphragm (a disk) in the earphone to create the sound. Thus, using titanium to coat the driver helps remove the distortion of the music that people would normally hear in cheaper headphones. In addition to the titanium coating, the size of the driver plays an important role as well. The general rule of thumb for driver size is the bigger the better because this also eliminates distortion of the music as well to amplify the bass, dynamics, and the highs to lows. Beats by Dre's 40 mm size is relatively large in headphone terms which positively contributes to the sound quality. Naturally, a better quality material along with the larger driver size used to make the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. Hip Hop, AAnd Creative Aspect Of Music Breaking through in the heart of the Bronx, Hip Hop was designed to empower and teach the youth, while providing them an outlet for creative expression. Developed on five essential pillars, all working towards: giving African Americans knowledge that they didn't have access to, inspiring them to read and acquire true knowledge of self, and to understand the role that self has in America in relation to the actual worth of self. Since the inception of Hip Hop, the genre has evolved through the times while transcending new depths aligned with its original pillars. An innovator in a sense, DJ Kool Herc founded Hip Hop by the early 70's. MC's, DJ's, breakdancing, graffiti and music encompass the five pillars of Hip Hop. Modern inversions interpret these pillars in many different ways. Prevalent through all major cities, graffiti evolved to the murals on the side of buildings, and the creative aspect of music videos. Artists have visions interpreted in the way they decide to imagine their visuals. Breakdancing has become the advance dance crazes that sweep the nations. People in Japan are hitting the "Nae–Nae" because of Hip Hop's mass globalization. MC's are the talk show host and commentators of award shows and hosts of events and red carpet specials: media. Dispersion of Hip Hop through channels that connect Blacks across different scopes happens through the media. • 21. Music 's Impact On The Music Revolution Musical revolutions can be defined by three key aspects which are: the venues music was made in, the way the audience listened to the music, and the way the music was disseminated. These are unique in that there is no clear separation between them and at times some of the changes that have been made can impact all three at the same time. The age in which we live in is experiencing all of these aspects to one degree or another. It is difficult for someone my age to understand that we are living in a music revolution the likes of which has never been seen before. From what I have learned in the History of American Pop music class it seems that the venues which music has been made in will remain consistent for many years then drastically change. The first music industry we have learned of consisted of composers who would write music for the performers who would perform them with the possibility that someone in the audience could go to the music shop and purchase the sheet music with the intention to play it themselves. This aspect influenced the higher classes more than the lower classes since you would have to have money to see the concert, buy the music, and own an instrument to play it on. At that time there was no major companies who consistently put out music for the purpose of being consumed. The first time we can see this concept being readily applied would be in Tin Pan Alley. Although Tin Pan Alley was still producing sheet music it was created for the purpose ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 29. What Ever Happened To Baby Jane By Robert Aldrich In the genre of film noir, "What Ever Happened to Baby Jane" is a 1962 American psychological thriller that was directed and produced by Robert Aldrich. Aldrich created this film to use different aspects to create many different emotions in the mind and the body of the audience as they watch this cult classic. Five aspects that he used are lighting choice, music and instrumentation, makeup, costume, and overt acting and expression. These aspects are used throughout the film in many different ways. The first aspect used in this film is lighting choice. One way that the lighting choice created emotions in the audience is whenever something bad is going to happen, the lighting gets darker. For example, when Elvira (the house maid) set down the hammer and opened the locked door that Blanche was in and Jane picked up the hammer and was about to kill Elvira, the lighting in the room was darker than normal. Also, the use of dark lighting is used to create suspicious, dark, or scary emotions. For example, when Jane is moving Elvira's body to her car, the setting is very dark and creates dark, suspicious, and scary emotions. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This song was debuted prior to her new album "Reputation" that will be released on November 10th. Taylor Swift, infamously known to get revenge on her enemies and to mock her own reputation through her songs, did just that within her new single "Look What You Made Me Do". This new iconic single has been number one on the top one hundred billboards for five weeks in a row and counting (billboard 2017). In addition, within the five weeks that the single has been released, it has already five million views on YouTube (TaylorSwift VEVO). The single starts with a melancholy feel, instruments ... There are some aspects in society that have a structured format, like the education system, the world of sports, and more. Producing and creating a song also has a structure. Adorno would say that popular music and "its plugging are focused on habituation" (Adorno, "On Popular"...32). In other words, the listener basically has to listen to the song multiple times and be able to recognize the song in order to like it. If a listener like a certain artist or type of music, repetition does not need to take place. Taylor Swift shows a sense of passion when presenting her lyrics in a song, she creates emotion and engages with society through her lyrics. People like Taylor Swift because, "the lyrics of her songs are a big reason for her popularity... and is known for writing lyrics that resonate with people" (Quora 2015). In addition to the standardized structure Adorno argues, while many of the music has the same formula to one another and pseudo– individualism plays a key part in believing about originality of a song, Taylor Swift is infinitely known for writing her own lyrics compared to the many other artist who have their songs written for them. This shows how while Swift follows the general verse, chorus, verse, etc., she does indeed have uniqueness to her music (Quora ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Music Education: A Much Needed and Important Discipline "A nation that allows music to be expendable is in danger of becoming expendable itself," said Richard Dreyfuss during the Grammy Awards broadcast on the 28th of February (National Coalition for music Education 14). This is a very interesting statement because it involves something that is related to everyone –– school curriculum. When school budgets have to be cut, the music classes are usually the first ones to be removed. The idea of teamwork appears again because it is so important. Students working together in something as challenging and wonderful as music can give them more than adequate training for life's future situations. As Eiji Oue, conductor of the conductor of the Minnesota Orchestra, wrote in Teaching Music, "They can take the good experience from their hard work– the discipline, the practice, and the accomplishment of being unified in an ensemble –– and apply it to whatever they want to accomplish later in their lives" (45). Also, students mature as a group the more they work together. Helping each other as they grow through music is an experience found nowhere else. In several studies, rap music has been found to promote violent behavior due to its aggressive nature and questionable messages. One study, for example, showed that when listening to rap songs that contained violent lyrics, college students were more likely to associate with violent words and commit hostile actions. In contrast, music that contained no violent lyrics had no discernable effect on the subjects' behavior (Palmer 15). Along with its violent nature, there is also the issue that some rap music is degrading to women by portraying them as sex symbols and playthings for men. When this type of attitude is broadcasted for young people to listen to, the false idea that it is acceptable to mistreat women is presented. In addition to the degradation of women, some rappers also use their lyrics to create distrust in the police and question the justice system (Giovacchini 2). Some rappers have no respect for the law and glorify their criminal actions. This can leave the impression on young, susceptible minds that criminal behavior can be considered "cool" or justifiable. Music And The Second World War Music and the Second World War Adam Griffin South Piedmont Community College Music Appreciation 110 – Mr. Campbell "In World War II, jazz absolutely was the music of freedom, and then in the Cold War, behind the Iron Curtain, same thing. It was all underground, but they needed the food of freedom that jazz offered" – Herbie Hancock. Looking back into history, you could create a timeline of events with nothing but song titles. Music was not just music, it was a lifestyle. Every major event in history has numerous songs that go along with or describe the happening. In the following paragraphs, I will describe aspects and elements of music for pre–World War II, World War II, and post–World War II. One could say that music was a form of expression throughout the times of war, and the songs produced during this time period clearly express all aspects of life before, during, and after the war. Pre–World War II had a huge impact on the course of our nation and our world; not only musically speaking, but also in the terms of historical events. During this time we saw events such as the Wright brother's first flight of an airplane in 1903, Ford Motor Co. introducing its first Model T vehicle in 1908, World War I from 1914 to 1918, the stock market crash in 1929 resulting in the start of the great depression, the beginning of World War II in Europe in 1939, and the end of the great depression in 1940. When musically speaking of this time period, one style stands out ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 117. Music And Its Effect On Society Music can produce many effects, mental and physical, in listeners and participants. Cultures throughout history have recognized these effects and used music for healing, productivity, and socialization. Currently different aspects that affect individuals' chemistry, development, and performance are being studied. The placebo effect, a common mind over matter concept, will be looked at in its relation to music. The chemistry behind music is not as revolutionary as one might assume. For simplicity music is stimuli and the body has automatic responses to it. The base response is the brain stem reacting to the tempo of the music (Chanda and Levitin pg 186). Music increases blood flow in several regions of the brain, and dopamine bonding which allows for better processing and more enjoyment (pg 182). When stimulating or fast music was played cortisol levels increased, and with relaxing music cortisol decreased; cortisol opens pathways used for anti–stress and anti–inflammatory processes. Listening to music and singing also increased production of Immunoglobulin A, an antibody (Chanda and Levitin pg 184). This chemistry is the body preparing itself for action; this action will be discussed to better explain what is happening when music is listened to. There is widespread public knowledge of music's effect on the development of children, mentally and physically. • 121. Important Aspects Of Music Education "Education– should enhance understanding of the world, of oneself, and of one's own experience" (Kelly 2009). What is important about music education? There are many important aspects in music education like pedagogy and performance. For me, music education is about letting the students express themselves. Having the ability to give an idea or to vent is a vital tool in today's society. This concept influences music because expression is not only in how to connect a phrase, but also how to tell a story. With my time in college, Dr. Joseph Frye will always tell me to tell a story with music. He will also ask me what I want to feel after playing a piece. This is what I believe is important in music education. What is it about expression that makes it so important for music education? Firstly, expression is the main source to music because you have all these different ways to create music. Music can make a person feel great or can make a person feel down in the dumps. Music could not do this to people if it did not have a little expression in it. Secondly, expression is important to the emotional development. In an NAfME article, it states that students who were involve with music are more emotionally developed (NAfME 2014). This statement is important because with emotions most people need to express it, but it is usually harder to talk to someone about it. So why not utilize music to do it? This ties back to music education because without music education no one will know ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 125. Mathematical and Musical Harmony For most people, mathematics is an unsolvable puzzle characterized by the impression of numbers and calculations taught in school. It is often associated with feelings of rejection and disinterest. To the general population mathematics appears to be to be strictly rational, abstract, cold and soulless. Music, however, is involved with emotion, with feelings, and with life. It exists in all daily routines. Everyone has sung a song, pressed a key on a piano, or blown into a flute, and therefore, in some sense, made music. People can easily interact with it. Music is a way of expression and a part of everyone's existence. The incentive for investigating the connections between these two apparent opposites therefore is in the least ... This proportion can not only be found in geometric forms (for example the length of a diagonal related to the length of an edge in a regular pentagon), but also in nature (for example the length of the trunk in relation to the diameter of some particular trees, such as the Norway spruce). Due to its consideration as well–balanced, beautiful and dynamic, the golden section has found various applications in the arts, especially in painting and photography, where important elements often divide a picture's length or width (or both) following the golden proportion. However, such a division is not necessarily undertaken consciously, but results from an impression of beauty and harmony. Diverse studies have discovered that this same concept is also very common in musical compositions. The golden section–expressed by Fibonacci ratios–is either used to generate rhythmic changes or to develop a melody line Examples of deliberate applications can be found in the widely used 'Schillinger System of Musical Composition' or concretely in the first movement of Béla Bartók's piece 'Music for Strings, Percussion and Celeste', where, for instance, the climax is situated at bar 55 of 89. Furthermore, Rothwell's study has revealed examples of the golden proportion in various musical periods. While the characteristics of the examined compositions varied greatly, the importance of ... • 129. How Music Has A Influence On Physical Aspect Of Sexual... Music has a huge influence on physical aspect of a sexual relationship, as well as the emotional part of relationships. Music speaks to the mind, body and soul and many singers take advantage of this influence to express their views on sex and relationships. Song lyrics often have implicit meanings and literary references. One song in particular called "Stimulated," by the rapper Tyga; real name Michael Ray Nguyen–Stevenson portrays the physical aspect of a sexual relationship. In his song Stimulated, Tyga sings about having sex with his girlfriend Kylie Jenner before she turns eighteen. The lyrics include "They say she young, I should've waited/She a big girl, dawg, when she stimulated." These lyrics imply a coarse, vulgar, sparsely disguised metaphor for having sex. The hidden message in these lyrics is that if the underage girl is stimulated, then it is okay to have intercourse with her. Furthermore, Tyga is violating the age of consent openly while at the same time indirectly admitting statutory rape. These lyrics are clearly encouraging the sexual battery of statutory rape and blurring the age of consent for sex. The lyrics are hypothetically influencing the thoughts and behaviors in a way that it is lessening the importance of statutory rape. Encouraging the listener to take the age of consent and the offence of statutory rape lightly. Switching gears onto the emotional component of relationships, the singer Britney Spears promotes the idea of dating a bad boy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Author Guthrie Ramsey states in Musing New Hoods that the music used in Do The Right Thing depicts a range of associations that include "black male and female subjectivity, ethnic identity, a sense of location, emotional and mental states, a specific historical moment, and the perspectives of age groups" (Ramsey 314). The various characters in Do The Right Thing such as radio host Mister Señor Love Daddy (played be Samuel L. Jackson) and Radio Raheem (played by Bill Nunn) use hip–hop music to establish a sense of location, emotional states, and ethnic identity that is present throughout the movie. In one scene, Radio Raheem is shown in a confrontation with a group of Latinos playing Salsa music. Radio Raheem proceeds to blast his hip–hop music at full volume in order to outplay the Latinos' Salsa music. This is another example of how music is used in the film to display the ethnic identities of individuals, as well as the various emotional and mental states that music can create. In addition to hip–hop music, Spike Lee implements a variety of music genres in Do The Right Thing in order to create a certain ambiance and feeling. The use of orchestral music throughout the film plays an important role in establishing specific emotions during scenes. Jazz and soul music are also used to display emotion during various exchanges between characters. According to Victoria E. Johnson, the music used in Do The Right Thing "serves to convey a romanticized vision of community in the ethnically mixed neighborhood in which the story takes place" (Ramsey 315). • 141. The Human Condition Analysis The Human Condition in Music Throughout time, artists, musicians, and composers have been using their various artforms as an outlet, a way to express themselves in a way rather than written word or oral expression. For these artists, many times composition and performing music allows them to study the human condition in a deeper, more personalized, yet relatable way, much like Arthur Miller exhibited in Death of a Salesman. Though various other art forms are used to express this, it is music that allows the composer, performer, or listener to examine an aspect or sometimes multiple aspects of the human condition, including: birth, growth, love, emotionality, aspiration, conflict, and mortality. These exhibitions have spanned from the early ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Emotionality is found to be an important aspect of any kind of artistic study. Those who choose to contribute in artistic advances such as drawing, painting, literature, theater, or music are continually pressured to convey more emotion within their works. For example, Ella Fitzgerald's 1958 rendition of "Blue Skies" uses a presto tempo and E major key to suggest the same feelings as Arthur Miller wished to convey by describing how Willy Loman believes the aristocrats must feel. To similarly convey this, Ella sings, "I never saw the sun shining so bright, never saw things going so right." Willy believes that the aristocrats must feel similarly to this due to the fact that to Willy everything seems to be going deplorably. Willy believes that if one is not plagued with the idea of being unable to provide for his family, then they must be living as Fitzgerald suggests. Moreover, leaping to 2009, Eric Whitacre, a newfound Juilliard graduate in composition, had noticed a fan of his works had posted a video of herself singing the soprano part of his newly composed piece, "Sleep". Eric, resonating in the purity and innocence of the video he had watched, began a project to connect people from around the world in his personal "Virtual Choir", as he explains in his TED Talk. Riot Grrrl Sociology These three readings offer some insight into how music is not only used as a means of entertainment, but in other ways such as self–expression and as a voice for the audience. In Julia Downes's journal article (The expansion of punk rock: Riot Grrrl challenges to gender power relations in British indie music subcultures) she discusses and explores how the punk feminist movement, Riot grrrl, provoked young woman and girls to stand up and rebel against the norm of culture, such as how punk was a male dominated genre. Qirko studied this by looking at other people's works such as Machado and Frith and considered their opinions, by considering their opinions it meant that he could back up his clams and thoughts with supporting statements by others. He also looked at testing done by McLeod's and Taylor, to see how consumers react to recordings of Cuban–based music and then analyzed them thematically. Before the 13th century, the Hindu Culture had not split their music into types. But their culture soon pushed to two types of classical music after the 13th century. This was because of the Islamic takeover of northern portions of the subcontinent that introduced Arab and Persian music (Nettl). The two types of classical Indian music that were created were the Hindustani and the Carnatic (CFCRAT). During the 13th century of India, composer, Śārngadeva wrote the Sangītaratnākara which is proclaimed to be the most influential piece in Indian Classical Music (Śārṅgadeva). Within this book, Śārngadeva explains both types of Indian music, the Hindustani and the Carnatic. It is believed that this book had major impacts on many musicians of the 13th century and changed Hindustani Classical Music as a whole (Śārṅgadeva). Hindustani music is made up of ragas, which are a form of Hindu music that has melodic form, and rhythm. The music is also comprised of improvisation and parts of tala rhythmic structures (Nettl). This type of music is primary centered around the soloist but also includes accompanists (Rao 25). In the culture of India, Hindustani music is also best for a small setting and the listeners will sit on the floor with the artists. This helps add interaction with the audience and creates verbal interruptions and non–verbal expressions (Rao ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Music is the art of arranging sounds in time so as to produce a continuous, unified, and evocative composition, as through melody, harmony, rhythm, and timbre (American Heritage). One important component of analyzing music is whether it has musical value. In other words, music does not have to be organized sound or produced by instruments. This is what composers and artists of experimental music discover. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In experimental music, the composer is free to create their own work as art. Experimental music is an art form that is open to creativity. As well as being an art form, experimental music uses a variety of instruments and sound–producing items. In the last hundred years, many composers and music artists experimented with other noises and sources of sound. Composers such as Luigi Russolo and George Antheil used sirens, whistles, anvils, and machines to create sounds in their musical works (Ewen 95). In the 1930s through 1950s, some composers began to experiment with new types of sounds in music. The composer Edgard Varese felt that "music had to be freed of all the inhibitions that centuries of tradition and rules had imposed upon it (102)." Personally created instruments are also used in experimental music. One of the composers who devised his own musical scale and instruments was Harry Partch (158). He experimented with the new, unique instruments that he created to produce new music of strange and different sounds. John Cage, a composer, wrote a piece for a toy piano. Experimental music can use new, invented instruments and unconventional instruments. Many different items that produce sound have been used in experimental music. A comb is used in George Brecht's "Comb Music" to create a unique, delicate sound (Nyman 64). LaMonte Young had a piece called "Poem for Chairs, Tables, and Benches, etc." in which ...
