Review of American Beauty Essay
Review of American Beauty
The 1999 Academy Award winning movie American Beauty has many major plots and shows the reality of American life. This movie uses symbolism
to get ideas across in many different situations and it shows the actuality of life, it is not always what it looks like on the outside.
Lester and Carolyn Burnham seem like they have a perfect marriage and a perfect family life while in turn they are having a lot of marriage problems.
Lester is going through a midlife crisis; he quits his high–paying job for a fast food service job at Mr. Smiley's and he buys the car of his dreams. His
wife, Carolyn, is so upset by his new "freedom" that she has an affair with one of her colleagues and is caught by Lester when she ... Show more content

She is upset by the marriage problems her parents are having and blames her father for all of them. Jane is also upset that her father is hitting on her
friend Angela and he wants to have an affair with her. Angela thinks Jane's father is sexy and she hits on him too, which makes Jane have problems
with her friend.
Ricky is a shy boy who moves in next door to Jane. All the kids at Jane's school consider him a "freak", but him and Jane have a lot more in common
than she might think. They end up becoming involved with each other and realize that they both come from broken homes, and they both hate their
fathers. Ricky's father is an ex–marine who beats him when he is upset and even though Jane's father does not beat her and it would appear that their
relationship is perfect, it is not. Ricky shows Jane a film he made of a plastic bag blowing in the wind and he said it was the most beautiful thing he
had ever filmed. The plastic bag symbolizes freedom, the way it just blows freely in the wind. Ricky does not experience this freedom because of his
father and how strict he is.
Ricky is having homosexual relations with Lester, Jane's father, for money. One night Ricky's homophobic father saw Ricky with Lester through the
window and he forced him to move out of the house. Ricky then goes to Jane's house and asks her to move to New York with him and she says yes.
Then, they hear a loud noise from downstairs, Ricky's father shot Lester

The Work Of The Calvin Klein Company
The Calvin Klein company has been trapped into a crisis in 2015 after the Annual Academy Award ceremony because of a stolen dress full of fake
pearls it designed. The public felt betrayed by the organization because they have been noticed that the pearls were precious and priceless from the
previous news. This crisis largely influences the organization's reputation in a negative way in the next few days. In this case, the TMZ company
plays an essential role in this crisis as a primary stakeholder, because it is the celebrity news website company which firstly received the information
and reported it to the public.

Kate and Maura are in the kitchen and Kate looked up at the ceiling and asked Maura, "did you do that?" and they both looked at each other and
said, "F**k the ceiling" with the middle fingers towards the ceiling and laughing. With Tina and Amy performances together gives off a sister
atmosphere. There was a scene where the sisters were showing off their dance moves in sync with each other and just having a good time. Also, the
sister's conversation is always talking about dirty jokes and joking around a lot. The movie shows that sisters can be silly and have a great time

The Effects Of Diversity On Hollywood And One Of The Most...
There has been many controversies about the lack of diversity in Hollywood and one of the most recent one was the 2016 Oscars. The Oscars is
an award show that showcase the best people in front and behind the camera. Unfortunately there was barely any diversity in the nominations this
year since most nominators were white, even though there was many diverse films that were considered Oscar worthy. With that being said, people
protested that there needs to be more diversity in these categories and some actors agreeing by using the hashtag #OscarsSoWhite in social media.
To make things worse, the Academy Awards members are majority older white males which brought to the attention from the protesters that in
order to have diversity into the awards, the members itself needs to represent of all races so, it can be considered a fair choice. Which make sense
to why throughout history of the Oscars there was always a discrepancy of diversity in the nominations since 1929 because only a very small
percentage of minorities actors have received an award compared to the white actors that dominated the Oscars with a high percentage of winners.
This created tension in Hollywood that the Oscars are marginalizing itself as a all white program and that there needs to be changes. When the
nominations were being announced for the 2016 Oscars, many were surprised of the lack of diversity and the films that were snubbed. One in
particular would be Beast of No Nation, which received

La Vita E Bella Themes
La Vita Г© Bella (Life is Beautiful) directed by Roberto Benigni is a film test of resiliency in a light and humorous way but dark at the same time in
the settings of WW2. The main character Guido Orefice is a fun, sharp Jewish guy who alongside his beautiful wife, Dora and his son GiosuГ© are
taken away into the Nazi concentration camp. The film highlights many themes, which enables the audience to understand through the influence of the
context. These include challenging stereotypes and power structures, the loss of identity and the power of love. Each of these themes are reinforced by
a variety of visual conventions.
One theme explored in the film is challenging stereotypes and power structures as the film is set during WW2. Mussolini had ... Show more content on

A screen text which says "Arezzo, Italy 1939" indicates the Holocaust and its persecution and killing of Jews. Viewers understand how the context
affects the way of thinking and behaving of its victims. In the concentration camp. Guido made up a game for his son to protect him from the
harsh reality and the cruelty of the Nazis. When Guido hides GiosuГ© in the box, the father is seen from a low angle and their faces are lit.
Everything else is in darkness but they are bright and novel amidst all this chaos. Guido's preservance of finishing the game resulted in his
execution. Although viewers do not see him being shot, the blue illumination created represents melancholy and the sadness of sacrificing oneself
for a loved one. As GiosuГ© comes out into the world, there is a wide shot of his small hiding place compared to the enormity of the situation he is
in, also known as the Final Solution. At daybreak the prisoners emerge in the absence of music. Only the shuffling of feet can be heard; humanity
survives. The wide shot emphasises the scale of suffering. Prisoners often emerge in pairs. The moral of the story is that you can't destroy love. Music
is triumphant and upbeat as the prisoners walk away down the hill. A final freeze frame and a text stating "Abbiamo Vinto!" (We Won!) is shown as
GiosuГ© unites with his mother. Colours of the Italian countryside are bright and hopeful indicating that light, love and hope have

Analysis Of Lala Land And Lala Land
Dreams. Everyone has Dreams. Something for someone to think about when they're in times of trouble. The Academy Award winning film, Lala
Land takes the aspect of dreams to a completely different level. Whenever Damien Chazelle released the first trailer for the movie over a year ago, I
was automatically in love with the masterpiece that was about to bless all my five senses. Just within the minute and a half teaser I saw over a year
ago, I was mesmerized by the phenomenal cinematography and score. The amazing film, Lala Land is the best movie ever made because of the: amazing
directing, phenomenal score, and the immediate chemistry from the two main characters.
Damien Chazelle is a 32–year–old director who has already acclimated a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The music in those final twenty minutes are so powerful, that I remember bawling my eyes out and clapping in the middle of the theatre. To this day, I
still have Mia and Sebastian's Theme on my phone.
On screen chemistry is incredibly important aspect to making a movie that includes two or more people; and this movie absolutely nailed it. With a
movie about a failing actress and jazz pianist that fall in love in Las Angeles, the actors have to be both good and convincing. Emma Stone and Ryan
Gosling do an amazing job playing a couple who fall in love in a difficult part of their lives. They're acting was so good; they both got nominated for an
Academy Award; but sadly, only Emma Stone got the award. Emma Stone deserved that award; and she gave a performance that will live on for
generations.
What really saddens me is how blind people can be to how beautiful a musical can be. From the many reviews I've read, many of them are written
by people who just hate musicals in general. However, there are also people who are unbiased about the genre of the movie; and actually, think that
Ryan Gosling's acting is bland and Emma Stone's singing and dancing is hard to watch. Although; I believe that Lala Land is a masterpiece that
should be praised for decades upon decades. I've heard opinions from my friends that I may have forced to watch the movie; and every single person
has said nothing but positive things about the film. They all say that the

The Pros And Cons Of The Oscar Pistorius Case
The social media bursted at the seams with comments on the Oscar Pistorius story there were posts on twitter such as "Oscar Pistorius is telling us
rubbish" and many more tweets about the happenings of the case. The disputes didn't just start in the court rooms between the lawyers and social
media but became debates over dinner tables, in the office, on public transport in fact everywhere, as everyone followed the story blow by blow. This
created a simultaneous audience in the way this spectacle was mediated, as people would all sit a watch the court cases wherever they may be. The

It has become part of our everyday lives whether it is out of the mundane habit of following the daily news or from the communication between the
people around you. What is seen or heard in the media can be a conversation starter. The media has also changed drastically through time expanding
the original medium of printed papers and radio broadcasts to those we have today of television and digital media, including social media such as,
Facebook, twitter and blogs. There is a vast variety of media to choose from not just in form but also in type, whether it is political, celebrity, sport,
international or local. Sometimes you do not know that you are even affected by what is on the media. Mass media affects societies socially and
politically by providing opinions and outlooks on things, although the masses have the power to control the judgment that they have over it. (Sturken

A Brief Note On Ann Landers, An American Advice Columnist...
Ann Landers, was an American advice columnist and eventually a nation wide media celebrity. A 1978 World Almanac Survey named her the
most influential woman in the United States. She had once mentioned that "Television has proved that people will look at anything rather than
each other." It means that people would rather look that a screen than facing towards to people. This reminds me of a time in my life when I was
alone in both freshman and sophomore years. There were any times when I have nowhere to go for lunch. No one really talked to me. It was really
dreadful for me. As the years go by I eventually improve my interaction significantly. Now to the present day, I know why I was like that. Sense I
had some experience with social media and how I see my older cousins change over the time. It turned out that I was antisocial, I eventually notice
that I don't really open up. I don't really got out of my comfort zone. That was my problem in school, but in my older cousins case. It was going the
opposite direction, on what I have notice, we all have different interpretations on how we view certain things, and I think thats is the major cause on
why we don't have that type of connection, with each other. But what doesn't make sense to me is that we are family we should be able to
communicate with each other without judging our differences, but that was just my own perspective on what family should be. Anyway, I will do my
best to find a way to get to know my cousins once

What Is The Critique Of The Movie Trumbo
McCarthyism, an incident that invoked a dark age upon movie writers and writers in general, teaches about how society lived in a time of fear, anger,
and skepticism towards differences, just how the starring role in the movie "Trumbo" (acted by yourself), which amazed me, takes the viewers
through a tour of the life of a writer affected by these negative impulses from society. "Trumbo" kept me enthralled all the way through, and my
attention just couldn't break away from it. Every element in it executed remarkably well, from the vividly enriched acting, to the heavily sharp themes,
to the characters that boomed with personality, and even to the gracefully dim screenplay. There exists a sizable amount of illustrated life–lessons to
love and to learn about the film not only in the movie itself, but in its themes, its acting, and its screenplay as well. This letter to you expresses my
praise for your effort put into the movie's, and thanks you for giving us such an awesome film to review in our class.
To begin with, the movie's screenplay fantastically dramatized the movie itself. In fact, the film's screenplay managed to obtain a nomination for the
Writers Guild of America Award in the "Best Adapted Screenplay" category. One reason why it kept me entertained consists in every line of dialogue

When Diving Into A Book Or A Piece Of Literature...
When diving into a book or a piece of literature structured like this one must keep an open mind to the points of view they will encounter. This
may not be the average book, for example it is different than the other literary works that are often discussed in the classroom. Even though it is
not a story like a fairy tale is, this type of book is still enjoyable and easy to discuss. However, there is a huge amount of opinions in the text of its
pages. Even so, if one sticks to knowing that they are just opinions and not fact it gives less a reason to get confused and can make this a more
enjoyable read. It is not all about the structure of the book but more of the main thoughts it's author is trying to convey through it's text. There are a lot
of things someone could point out while reading this book. One of the best ones to focus on though would be found in the first chapter. It starts out
talking about how serious West Point is when building their leaders. A good thing about the start of this chapter is after the author makes the point of
how serious West Point is about their leaders he then gives a very interesting phrase to get the whole point across the readersmind. The phrase or

Music Is An Identifying Characteristic Of Film And Television
Music is an identifying characteristic of film and television; everyone who has been exposed to popular culture knows the theme for Star Wars and
The Simpsons, even if they have never seen the movie or show. Disney movies are no exception, and this is largely due to the genius creative mind of
Alan Menken. Menken is best known for composing the scores for some of the most beloved Disney classics, including Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast,
The Little Mermaid, Hercules, Pocahontas, and Tangled. He also made his mark composing for highly acclaimed Broadway musicals, includingLittle
Shop of Horrors and Newsies, as well as the stage adaptations of some of his Disney hits. The familiar songs composed by Menken are permanently
ingrained in our minds and are largely responsible for the success of the films and theatrical works he was associated with. Alan Menken was born on
July 22nd, 1949 in New York City. He grew up in New Rochelle, New York with his sisters, Faye and Leah. Menken's family was heavily involved in
the performing arts, setting the stage for his career at a young age. His mother, Judy Menken, was an aspiring actress and playwright; his father,
Norman Menken was a dentist but played boogie–woogie and show tunes on the piano as a hobby. Alan Menken aspired to be a composer from a

In this book a fourteen year old girl named, Sophronia Temminnick is sent to Mademoiselle Gerlandines Finishing Academy for Young Ladies of

African Americans: The Role Of Racism In Hollywood

a row that absolutely no African Americans had been nominated. Considering that a lot of great movies came out in which African Americans either
wrote, directed, or acted in, a few in the the Black community exclaimed that the racism in Hollywood needed to end. On the other hand, others felt that

So, there is clearly going to be a disparity in income regarding minorities and whites in the industry. The issue of Income disparities based on race
sounds inherently racist but in this case it it based on the population of Actors. There are more white actors so it makes sense that the probability of
them winning is higher right? Yes, it is true that the amount of African Americans that have won Oscar nominations are in line with their overall
population in the U.S, but the amount of other minorities in the industry are by all means not at all accurate to America's cultural reality.
According to analysis by The Economist, Blacks make up 12.6% of the American population and receive 10% of Oscar nominations. While 3%
are received by Hispanics which make up 16%. It's even worse for Asians and other minorities who total receive 3% of nominations while
representing 20% of the population. The paper makes a point that where Hollywood fails in promoting diversity is not at award ceremonies but in
drama schools. They state that for the past 15 years the Academy has judged fairly based on who was present at the time, at least for African
Americans. More interesting figures are the amount of black directors in Hollywood. According to a study 6% of directors in the top 600 films are

On January 26, 1958, 58 years ago, DeGeneres was born into the world. She was welcomed by parents, Betty and Elliot DeGeneres and by brother,
Vance. She lived a pretty normal childhood, spending her days either at school or out on the wild streets of New Orleans. Unfortunately, DeGeneres'
parents decided to divorce when she was thirteen. Her calm childhood was now the complete opposite. DeGeneres, her mother, Betty and Vance all
moved to Atlanta Texas. She finished her schooling in Texas before final deciding to return to New Orleans.

She lost job offers, sponsors and even fans. Her coming out made her the first openly gay actress. DeGeneres claims this was the hardest thing for her
to do and she's more than okay with that. Now, she has inspired millions of people that it is okay to be who you are. DeGeneres started her own talk
show. It first aired September 8, 2003. The next year in 2004, it was nominated and won Emmy's. The Ellen Show is still very successful and has
been airing for 13 seasons. Ellen DeGeneres is generous. (No pun intended.) DeGeneres gives to a bunch of charities. Some help animals, some
help people in need and some help schools. She also gives to inspiring people to help pay for everyday expenses or to help with medical bills. Even
though DeGeneres is very busy, she still has time for a somewhat private life. DeGeneres married Portia de Rossi in 2008. They are still happily

Mr. Williams And The Music Of Music And Film
John Williams once said "so much of what we do is ephemeral and quickly forgotten, even by ourselves, so it's gratifying to have something you have
done linger in people's memories" – and linger it did. Mr. Williams has made significant contributions to the arts of music and film. To fully understand
the gravity of his achievements and their affect on humanity, we must first look at the progression of sound in film; the effect music has in film and its
audience; and lastly his accomplishments of music and film.
In the infancy of film, movies were silent but not without sound. To make film a more pleasant experience, music was provided to cover up the
ambient noise of the projector and help create an agreeable atmosphere, often by the use of a solo piano. (Fischoff, S. (2005)). The musician generally
improvised – playing mostly a variety of popular romantic and melodramatic scores of the late nineteenth century (such as William Tell Overture, Ride
of the Valkyrie, Les Preludes, etc.)– as long as it accompanied the action/scene or enhanced the mood (for dramatic effect). ("From Scene to Shining
Screen: A Short History of Film Music". para. 1–2. (n.d.)). As film grew in popularity and length, so did the musical accompaniment – adding
instruments to the ensemble until even some theaters were housing full orchestras. By the end of the silent era, the industry had completely shifted
from the all purpose "improve" music of the solo pianist, to exact musical scores written

Film Analysis Of La La Land
The movie La La Land received an astonishing amount of 14 Oscar nomination because it was such an enjoyable movie (Cunningham, 2017). La
La Land was originally a musical that was later made into a movie by the director Damien Chazelle. The movie is about two people, Mia and
Sebastian, who unintentionally keep running into each other, literally and figuratively. Over time, they cannot help but fall for one another.
Through a series of events, they end up drifting apart to follow their own dreams which lead to the heart wrenching ending. La La Land is a
recommendable movie because of its music, character development, and acting. In Malorie Cunningham's article she contends that the director
wrote the script of La La Land in 2010 and could not get it financed with an original budget of one million dollars, not knowing that the movie
would actually amount to thirty million (Cunningham, 2017). Although the movie took so long to become a reality, it was worth the wait. It won
several Oscars as well as being nominated for several more. The movie was extremely successful in the box office. According to The Numbers
website, the movie grossed over 400 million dollars worldwide (La La Land, 2017). Because of the Oscars awards, profits, and good reviews, the
hard work, time, effort, and money put into it made it extremely successful. The movie La La Land is full of numerous musical performances and
songs since it was based off of a musical. The movie's music track itself took around a

Examples Of Comedy In Life Is Beautiful
Roberto Benigni's Life Is Beautiful, is a film that is set in a concentration camp and combines comedy with the seriousness of the extermination of the
Jews in Nazi Germany. Benigni's task in making this film was significant, by taking a tremendous risk, making a "comedy about the Holocaust." And
the fact that he pulled it off so well, despite the expected controversy it has aroused in some quarters, is downright miraculous. Benigni initially
accesses the emotions of his audience through simple comedy. And the film is a comic attack onFascism.
The film's plot structure can be divided into two parts. The first half of Life Is Beautiful is basically a slapstick comedy. This part has been seen by
many critics as being inferior to the second, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He uses this to keep up his commitment, and this explains his never despairing at the sight of so much suffering around him. Guido displays this faith
throughout the second half of the film, and the hope that his son has the possibility of surviving on the last night allows him to march to his own death
without losing his identity and therefore without falling into despair. Guido does not cry because he believes, because he has faith, that he will
succeed in helping his son live even though he has no real reason to believe either of them will survive. His faith is not in some future salvation but in
the present moment.
Third, and most important, Benigni's commitment allows him to do whatever is possible for the higher cause of easing his son's suffering. He is not
bound by the ethical principle of always telling the truth. You could say Benigni is a liar, he makes up a story just to hide the truth from his son; or
you could say he shows insensitivity to those around him, being insensitive to those who suffered and died in the Holocaust. He certainly seems to
depict the Holocaust in an unrealistic picture of the atrocities committed by the Germans in World War

Schindler's List Analysis
Schindlers list so we just watched the schindlers list. The movie in all was great. At the beginning, I wasnt sure if I would get into it. I was wrong.
I didnt really know what to think about Oscar, I believe he was way different at the beginning of the movie. Defenitly had a different perspective of
him of first, he only really focused on himself and getting money. A bit selfish. I think deep down he was a good man at heart. He defenitly dealed
with things a lot better than others did. The other man was horrible he had no empathy what so ever for other people. Not even children. Sometimes
there was no reason behind killing innocent people, he did it simply because he felt like it. There was a time when schindler actually tried to prevent
him from killing people without thinking. The bad guy said that killing meant he had power, but schindler said that having the ability too kill and not
doing so but forgive is real power. The bad guy didnt really get it at first and just kind of laughed at him. The next day I think he kind of understood it

to the wrong camp. When the women first got there you can tell they were all very confused. They tried telling the soldiers but they didnt listen. All
the women were forced to strip there close off and go into these enclosed rooms. They all were terrified at first, which is understandable. Because of
the fact that in similar chambers they would gas them and kill them. To there surprise, it was actually just a shower. They were so relieved and happy.

Gate Keepers Research Paper
Last year there was a huge debacle with many African American actors protesting the Oscars. The issue was a lack of diversity involving the
nominations for awards. Only white actors and actresses were nominated for the top four awards, sadly for the second year in a row. Because of this,
the hashtag #oscarssowhite gained popularity, and was seen all across social media. Granted, the Oscars is movie nominations, but TV and movies play
hand and hand with being film entertainment. Also, there were plenty of television actors that had their fair share to say about the Oscars being too
white and it just makes you think is it just the Oscars or is television is too white? In my opinion, diversity is not shown widely enough on screen, and

Lolo Loarlo Analysis
Sexuality plays a significant role in the novel. Be it Oscars' inability to have sex, Yunior, the narrators, constant search for a woman, the sexual
abuse that Lola is victim of as a child or the constant sexualization of Beli as a teen. In these cases, when analyzed, the reader can see that the
treatment or, mistreatment of these cases, is often transgenerational. Starting with Lola, the sexual abuse she experienced was at a very young age,
and when she tells her mother about it, she is told that she must never speak of it again. This shame that comes with sexual abuse is often
repressed by families and victims alike. Lola refers to repressed memory as "within a year I couldn't have told you what that neighbor looked like,
or even his name" (Diaz 56). The way that Lola was sexualized at such an early age, is the same way the she was sexualized on the streets of Santo
Domingo as a teen. Yet, Beli does not recognize these similarities. Often, young victims often feel a sense of blame because of the shame that is felt by
their families. The sexualization of young girl is not seen a major problem, that is because woman in the novel are disposable. It does not matter if it the
dominate Raffaele Trujillo, or the weak Oscar Wao, they all see women as the next conquest, not matter how it is romanticized.
Beli is sadly seen as mostly a sex object. She never experienced true love. In fact, even many of the descriptions in the novel explain men either trying
or wanting to hit on her.

Gender Inequality in Hollywood Essay
Stereotypes in our society are not uncommon. We come across them every day without realizing it. It is in our human nature to create expectations of
the people around us, which could be based upon their ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender or other factors. Stereotypes help us categorize a vast group
of people that we may not know anything about, to think that they are smaller and less intimidating. I believe that the blame for these cookie–cutter
patterns can lead directly back to the media in every sense of the word. Media is all around us, and affects our opinions and ability to think for
ourselves. Whether it's the latest box office hit or the headlining news, we are getting assumptions from every point of view, which makes it... Show

But the bias stereotypes are also expanded to men in the media as well.
A common action movie consists of a physically and mentally equipped male lead who often saves himself and his attractive female supporting
lead. The status quo for a man in Hollywood is quite simple; strong and handsome. BBC: Culture wrote an article about the blandness in actors
these days. They said that men in the media are always set to play one specific role, and it is hard to break out of that category that Hollywood has cast
them as. For example, Daniel Radcliffe will always be Harry Potter in the eyes of it's fans. Ryan Gosling will always play a bad–boy heartthrob, and is
ostracized when he doesn't. The article says that these categories are pushing young actors into divisions based on their looks, not necessarily their
talents. This is also known as type–casting, or when an actor becomes known as only being able to play one role.

He had enough time to drive for the corner where the baby was hidden... then it was too late for anything; and the wall came down on top of him,

baby wouldn't of died, at least not on his watch. The baby died because tsotsi wasnt man enough to have the baby around him at all sides, instead he

Hotel On The Corner Of Bitter And Sweet Summary
The novel "Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet," is a unique story. In the story, we learn about Henry on two fronts of his life, the younger,
twelve year old Henry during 1942, as well as forty year old Henry in 1986. The story is about a love that surpasses time and distance. We follow Henry
and his life as young Chinese–American boy attending a mainly white school on a scholarship. As a young boy, Henry feels out of place since he
barely speaks with his own parents, due to the fact that his father wants him to "speak his American," and also because he does not have many friends
except for Sheldon, a street player. As as older man, Henry also has a hard time communicating with his own son, Marty, even more after the death of
his wife, Ethel. Then Henry sees the Panama Hotel that had been once boarded up decades ago during WWII. During his scholarship at Rainier
Elementary in 1942, a Japanese girl named Keiko joins him in his class. Together, the two of them form a bond on the fact that they are outcasts in
their school for being different. Though, Henry's father looks down on his friendship with Keiko since he views Japanese people as the enemy, and so
he disowns Henry for his relationship with a Japanese girl. This of course causes the canyon between Henry and his father to widen. Even as the U.S.
executes order 9066, sending all Japanese Americans in the West coast to concentration camps, Henry and Keiko still manage to keep their relationship.

My research paper is that people should focus on the streets that are mainly weapons, kids carrying toy guns replica from a real gun will be

it has showed that since the shooting of Oscar Grant and Michael Brownl increase the killings of police officers shot by a real or a toy replica gun.
Police are basically putting their lives out in the streets, and that they "police officers have families to return home to." I have wondered why

plastic water guns, silver steel guns are made.
All guns are brought in from different countries, Asia, China, North America and Europe. The United States are fighting to keep guns off the streets

makes for the exact same job. To add salt to the wound, they also can get laid–off for fighting for this equality, it's absurd and completely sexist. On top

Women have a small place in the film industry. Well, let me clarify, a VERY small place in the industry. The biggest role they have is in producing,
which is getting a script, director, and team (this is the job for the people with enough money to sponsor a big part of the creation). It has little to do in
the actual creation of the movie. They make up only twenty–five percent in film. That means that men, make up seventy–five percent, but that's only
the beginning. five men work in the industry for every one woman, and women only make up fifteen percent of all the writing done for movies. Even
worse, for the job of directing, women make up a miniscule nine percent in comparison to the ninety–one that men take up, but one more thing.
Cinematographers, the people that film the movie and make it immersive for us, is the worst place for women. They make, only two percent in the
entire industry, meaning that the rest is made up of men. this stereotype of men being better than women at their jobs, whether it be directing, editing,
filming is based on no true information but rather a stigma of women in the workplace. The public is less able to recognize this discrimination because
they're exposed to it every day. But to have such discrimination even in the background and off–stage, without the attention of the public eye, is

Rock refers to the large group of people. However some of his sentences and words like; "People get mad" and "black" directly targets African
Americans who boycott Oscar. At the same time, he causeswhite people to feel uncomfortable since white people who get prize may think that they

Review Of American Beauty Essay

  • 1. Review of American Beauty Essay Review of American Beauty The 1999 Academy Award winning movie American Beauty has many major plots and shows the reality of American life. This movie uses symbolism to get ideas across in many different situations and it shows the actuality of life, it is not always what it looks like on the outside. His wife, Carolyn, is so upset by his new "freedom" that she has an affair with one of her colleagues and is caught by Lester when she ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She is upset by the marriage problems her parents are having and blames her father for all of them. Jane is also upset that her father is hitting on her friend Angela and he wants to have an affair with her. Angela thinks Jane's father is sexy and she hits on him too, which makes Jane have problems with her friend. Ricky is a shy boy who moves in next door to Jane. All the kids at Jane's school consider him a "freak", but him and Jane have a lot more in common than she might think. They end up becoming involved with each other and realize that they both come from broken homes, and they both hate their fathers. Ricky's father is an ex–marine who beats him when he is upset and even though Jane's father does not beat her and it would appear that their relationship is perfect, it is not. Ricky shows Jane a film he made of a plastic bag blowing in the wind and he said it was the most beautiful thing he had ever filmed. The plastic bag symbolizes freedom, the way it just blows freely in the wind. Ricky does not experience this freedom because of his father and how strict he is. Ricky is having homosexual relations with Lester, Jane's father, for money. One night Ricky's homophobic father saw Ricky with Lester through the window and he forced him to move out of the house. Ricky then goes to Jane's house and asks her to move to New York with him and she says yes. Then, they hear a loud noise from downstairs, Ricky's father shot Lester ... • 5. The Effects Of Diversity On Hollywood And One Of The Most... There has been many controversies about the lack of diversity in Hollywood and one of the most recent one was the 2016 Oscars. The Oscars is an award show that showcase the best people in front and behind the camera. Unfortunately there was barely any diversity in the nominations this year since most nominators were white, even though there was many diverse films that were considered Oscar worthy. With that being said, people protested that there needs to be more diversity in these categories and some actors agreeing by using the hashtag #OscarsSoWhite in social media. To make things worse, the Academy Awards members are majority older white males which brought to the attention from the protesters that in order to have diversity into the awards, the members itself needs to represent of all races so, it can be considered a fair choice. Which make sense to why throughout history of the Oscars there was always a discrepancy of diversity in the nominations since 1929 because only a very small percentage of minorities actors have received an award compared to the white actors that dominated the Oscars with a high percentage of winners. This created tension in Hollywood that the Oscars are marginalizing itself as a all white program and that there needs to be changes. When the nominations were being announced for the 2016 Oscars, many were surprised of the lack of diversity and the films that were snubbed. The Academy Award winning film, Lala Land takes the aspect of dreams to a completely different level. Whenever Damien Chazelle released the first trailer for the movie over a year ago, I was automatically in love with the masterpiece that was about to bless all my five senses. Just within the minute and a half teaser I saw over a year ago, I was mesmerized by the phenomenal cinematography and score. The music in those final twenty minutes are so powerful, that I remember bawling my eyes out and clapping in the middle of the theatre. To this day, I still have Mia and Sebastian's Theme on my phone. On screen chemistry is incredibly important aspect to making a movie that includes two or more people; and this movie absolutely nailed it. With a movie about a failing actress and jazz pianist that fall in love in Las Angeles, the actors have to be both good and convincing. Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling do an amazing job playing a couple who fall in love in a difficult part of their lives. They're acting was so good; they both got nominated for an Academy Award; but sadly, only Emma Stone got the award. Emma Stone deserved that award; and she gave a performance that will live on for generations. What really saddens me is how blind people can be to how beautiful a musical can be. From the many reviews I've read, many of them are written by people who just hate musicals in general. However, there are also people who are unbiased about the genre of the movie; and actually, think that Ryan Gosling's acting is bland and Emma Stone's singing and dancing is hard to watch. Although; I believe that Lala Land is a masterpiece that should be praised for decades upon decades. I've heard opinions from my friends that I may have forced to watch the movie; and every single person has said nothing but positive things about the film. They all say that the ... • 11. A Brief Note On Ann Landers, An American Advice Columnist... Ann Landers, was an American advice columnist and eventually a nation wide media celebrity. A 1978 World Almanac Survey named her the most influential woman in the United States. She had once mentioned that "Television has proved that people will look at anything rather than each other." It means that people would rather look that a screen than facing towards to people. This reminds me of a time in my life when I was alone in both freshman and sophomore years. There were any times when I have nowhere to go for lunch. No one really talked to me. It was really dreadful for me. As the years go by I eventually improve my interaction significantly. Now to the present day, I know why I was like that. Sense I had some experience with social media and how I see my older cousins change over the time. It turned out that I was antisocial, I eventually notice that I don't really open up. I don't really got out of my comfort zone. That was my problem in school, but in my older cousins case. It was going the opposite direction, on what I have notice, we all have different interpretations on how we view certain things, and I think thats is the major cause on why we don't have that type of connection, with each other. But what doesn't make sense to me is that we are family we should be able to communicate with each other without judging our differences, but that was just my own perspective on what family should be. What Is The Critique Of The Movie Trumbo McCarthyism, an incident that invoked a dark age upon movie writers and writers in general, teaches about how society lived in a time of fear, anger, and skepticism towards differences, just how the starring role in the movie "Trumbo" (acted by yourself), which amazed me, takes the viewers through a tour of the life of a writer affected by these negative impulses from society. "Trumbo" kept me enthralled all the way through, and my attention just couldn't break away from it. Every element in it executed remarkably well, from the vividly enriched acting, to the heavily sharp themes, to the characters that boomed with personality, and even to the gracefully dim screenplay. There exists a sizable amount of illustrated life–lessons to love and to learn about the film not only in the movie itself, but in its themes, its acting, and its screenplay as well. This letter to you expresses my praise for your effort put into the movie's, and thanks you for giving us such an awesome film to review in our class. This may not be the average book, for example it is different than the other literary works that are often discussed in the classroom. Even though it is not a story like a fairy tale is, this type of book is still enjoyable and easy to discuss. However, there is a huge amount of opinions in the text of its pages. Mr. Williams And The Music Of Music And Film John Williams once said "so much of what we do is ephemeral and quickly forgotten, even by ourselves, so it's gratifying to have something you have done linger in people's memories" – and linger it did. Mr. Williams has made significant contributions to the arts of music and film. To fully understand the gravity of his achievements and their affect on humanity, we must first look at the progression of sound in film; the effect music has in film and its audience; and lastly his accomplishments of music and film. In the infancy of film, movies were silent but not without sound. To make film a more pleasant experience, music was provided to cover up the ambient noise of the projector and help create an agreeable atmosphere, often by the use of a solo piano. (Fischoff, S. (2005)). The musician generally improvised – playing mostly a variety of popular romantic and melodramatic scores of the late nineteenth century (such as William Tell Overture, Ride of the Valkyrie, Les Preludes, etc.)– as long as it accompanied the action/scene or enhanced the mood (for dramatic effect). Be it Oscars' inability to have sex, Yunior, the narrators, constant search for a woman, the sexual abuse that Lola is victim of as a child or the constant sexualization of Beli as a teen. In these cases, when analyzed, the reader can see that the treatment or, mistreatment of these cases, is often transgenerational. Starting with Lola, the sexual abuse she experienced was at a very young age, and when she tells her mother about it, she is told that she must never speak of it again. This shame that comes with sexual abuse is often repressed by families and victims alike. Lola refers to repressed memory as "within a year I couldn't have told you what that neighbor looked like, or even his name" (Diaz 56). The way that Lola was sexualized at such an early age, is the same way the she was sexualized on the streets of Santo Domingo as a teen. Yet, Beli does not recognize these similarities. Often, young victims often feel a sense of blame because of the shame that is felt by their families. The sexualization of young girl is not seen a major problem, that is because woman in the novel are disposable. It does not matter if it the dominate Raffaele Trujillo, or the weak Oscar Wao, they all see women as the next conquest, not matter how it is romanticized. Beli is sadly seen as mostly a sex object. • 32. Sherman Alexie: Complications In the Book The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian written by Sherman Alexie, demonstrates that poverty causes many complications in life and is a real issue for some people, as shown in the scene when Oscar, Arnold's best friend is sick and his family can't afford treatment, or missing school because he can't afford to go, and when he has to pretend to not be poor just to fit in with the others. Poverty has shaped Arnold's life since the time he was born, but not until a hot summer day did it change it forever. "It was a crazy–hot July day"(9), with a humidity of 90%. Oscar his best friend, who was a stray mutt they adopted was laying on the ground sick. Arnold tried to give him some water, but Oscar didn't want that. In an attempt to soothe Oscar, Arnold lays next to him and pets him. Oscars yelps, "It was like his nerves were poking out three inches from his skin"(9). Arnolds father comes home and his mother beings to talk with him. After their conversation, they make a decision without Arnold. • 33. Tsotsi Research Paper If you were to be a victim in tsotsis life how would you see his actions? Now if you're simply seeing it from a stranger's point of view what would you do? Well I've come to the conclusion that Tsotsi should be charged with 10 –15 years, tsotsi is mentally ill, but that doesn't give Tsotsi the right to do as he pleases, with his mental illness he will also get help in prison . Tsotsi is given the best gift which is freedom, with him having freedom he ruined lives. Tsotsi caused harm to his own friend Boston, he intimidates and uses his power to get others to do his dirty work, and lastly tsotsi uses an innocent baby for his own good. How could you get so mad at someone for being truthful with you? For having so much love and respect for you... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Tsotsi meets this woman and she gives him a strange baby, that baby changes tsotsi for the better yet, that baby somehow seems to pay for Tsotsis choices and for his prideful actions. On page 125 it says, "first he got rid of the ants on the face. The baby awoke once in the course of this and cried feebly".(fugard 125) This scenario clarifies that tsotsi doesn't care for the kid, how do you leave a kid alone in a box under a bed for a whole day then come back and expect everything to be pitch perfect? It's impossible for a baby that is months old to take care of himself. We can also see that in the book it shows how the baby dies because its left in the ruins by Tsotsi, on page 225 it says, "he got there with seconds to spare. He had enough time to drive for the corner where the baby was hidden... then it was too late for anything; and the wall came down on top of him, flattening him into the dust". (fugard 225) This proves that if Tsotsi never took charge of this baby knowing he couldn't even take care of himself the baby wouldn't of died, at least not on his watch. The baby died because tsotsi wasnt man enough to have the baby around him at all sides, instead he chose to hide the baby and leave him unattended. He left the baby far away from him because he was ashamed of him, if tsotsi hadn't left that baby there the baby wouldn't of been crushed by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Hotel On The Corner Of Bitter And Sweet Summary The novel "Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet," is a unique story. In the story, we learn about Henry on two fronts of his life, the younger, twelve year old Henry during 1942, as well as forty year old Henry in 1986. The story is about a love that surpasses time and distance. We follow Henry and his life as young Chinese–American boy attending a mainly white school on a scholarship. As a young boy, Henry feels out of place since he barely speaks with his own parents, due to the fact that his father wants him to "speak his American," and also because he does not have many friends except for Sheldon, a street player. As as older man, Henry also has a hard time communicating with his own son, Marty, even more after the death of his wife, Ethel. Then Henry sees the Panama Hotel that had been once boarded up decades ago during WWII. During his scholarship at Rainier Elementary in 1942, a Japanese girl named Keiko joins him in his class. Together, the two of them form a bond on the fact that they are outcasts in their school for being different. Though, Henry's father looks down on his friendship with Keiko since he views Japanese people as the enemy, and so he disowns Henry for his relationship with a Japanese girl. This of course causes the canyon between Henry and his father to widen. Even as the U.S. executes order 9066, sending all Japanese Americans in the West coast to concentration camps, Henry and Keiko still manage to keep their relationship. But as their letters ... • 36. Police V. Guns On The Streets Police v. Guns on the Streets My research paper is that people should focus on the streets that are mainly weapons, kids carrying toy guns replica from a real gun will be mistakenly the targets getting killed by police officer 's. People have not realized that guns are the major causes of death. Against fellow police officers. it has showed that since the shooting of Oscar Grant and Michael Brownl increase the killings of police officers shot by a real or a toy replica gun. Police are basically putting their lives out in the streets, and that they "police officers have families to return home to." I have wondered why manufacturers are putting toy guns that are made realistic, and that back in the days toy guns were made in different colors, the guns were made of plastic water guns, silver steel guns are made. All guns are brought in from different countries, Asia, China, North America and Europe. The United States are fighting to keep guns off the streets and although these companies are willing to sale the products to businesses, such as a Sporting goods store or a toy store and a private company that produces the items to whole sales producers that sales these items in the flea markets or a dollar store and other major shops in the United States. These companies from North and South of the Country creates guns that are real with no indication that the police officers instinct is to follow the law by asking the suspect to put the gun down slowly and move away from the ... • 38. Discrimination Of African American Women In The Film Industry let's face it, discrimination isn't over, and it never will be. Women have been belittled in almost every industry in comparison to males. The numbers are there, and there is no argument against it, women have made and do make less. Quite frankly, it's ridiculous that in this day and age that we have advanced to, we still see women as less superior and deserving of less pay. the average wage for women is seventy–seven cents to the dollar that a man makes for the exact same job. To add salt to the wound, they also can get laid–off for fighting for this equality, it's absurd and completely sexist. On top of this, African American women along with Spanish nationalities make even less than that. In more than one state, these women can face less... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Women have a small place in the film industry. Well, let me clarify, a VERY small place in the industry. The biggest role they have is in producing, which is getting a script, director, and team (this is the job for the people with enough money to sponsor a big part of the creation). It has little to do in the actual creation of the movie. They make up only twenty–five percent in film. That means that men, make up seventy–five percent, but that's only the beginning. five men work in the industry for every one woman, and women only make up fifteen percent of all the writing done for movies. Even worse, for the job of directing, women make up a miniscule nine percent in comparison to the ninety–one that men take up, but one more thing. Cinematographers, the people that film the movie and make it immersive for us, is the worst place for women. They make, only two percent in the entire industry, meaning that the rest is made up of men. this stereotype of men being better than women at their jobs, whether it be directing, editing, filming is based on no true information but rather a stigma of women in the workplace. The public is less able to recognize this discrimination because they're exposed to it every day. But to have such discrimination even in the background and off–stage, without the attention of the public eye, is disgusting and an insult to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Moreover, he answers his own questions like; "Is it "Fetch me some lemonade" racist? No!" It creates Ethos in the audiences. Moreover, Rock also tries to find the real problem in Oscar.
