Interdependency Case
We arrived at room 822 at 9:10 am. They were doing dependency cases all morning. At the professional table we had ChildNet, Drug dependency,
Guardian Ad Litem, Guardian Ad Litem Lawyer and on the side we had Linda the foster parent. To me, this also went really fast with the new
terminologies that they were using. They were going through the case plans and giving the Judge a summary on the parents' progress. They used the
term UA's negative and positives which meant urine analysis. They used that to determine if they had been using any illegal substances. For this
particular case I learned that social workers are very overwhelmed. The client was telling the Judge how her therapist from Susan B. Anthony quit
without notice and she had to start her treatment again with another therapist. I also learned that both the mom and dad of the child are going to
Alcoholic Anonymous (AA) as part of the treatment. The lawyers requested them to get unsupervised visitations 3 times a week for up to 4 hours. The
Judge confirmed approval with the foster parent first, and she seemed willing. At that point I sympathized with the parents only being able to see their
child 3 times a week. But at the same time they did it to themselves. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Going to court has opened me up to the third side of society. We have our daily life society, the society we see in the television and now the society
in court. This experience will forever stick with me and I now know that I can publicly go and sit down to certain court hearings. The fact that I will
be watched every move by security personnel and the cameras is disturbing, but I know it's for safety reasons. I will definitely return to the
courthouse as a civilian during my spare time and hopefully as a professional when I get my Bachelors in Social

Video Game And Violent Video Games
Along with the rapid development of the internet in recent years, game and violence game have become companions of young people. We could not
deny the fact that video game already has strong attraction for many people. Especially in today's society, when work pressure is growing, gaming is
an effective solution to relieve tension, dispel feeling of fatigue, anxiety. Playing the normal videogame, which it not include any violence scenes, plus
regulatory reasonable playing time can help players relaxed and balanced in terms of psychological after hours of studying, and working hard. But a
lot of current game players do not like the game that bring the gently feeling, they want to experience a new kind of game, which make up a stronger
feeling, and be able to do thing that they would not be able to do in the real world. This is one major reason that make people who enjoy to play
violence video game have increase, and difficult to abandon this kind of game. A lot of people think that when you often playing violent video
game, you will easy be haunted by the feeling of the spectacle going on in the game, and this will lead to the violation of real life. There is also an
argument that violent video game did not affect the players because it is just a game, and it not real. The players should be able to tell what is real
and what is virtual. In my opinion, playing violent video game did not affect to people behavior. Instead of that, playing violent video game is a

Rhetorical Analysis Of In The Strawberry Fields
"In the Strawberry Fields" Rhetorical Analysis
From the beginning, all lives are built on the aspirations of our parents; the ideal image of success and prosperity in adult life. Whether it is given to
us on a silver platter or strived for, it is the understanding of how we got there that matters. Take into consideration how the strawberries got to the
grocery stores. Someone had to put them there, and those people are the immigrants working, trying to get by. Knowing this, Eric Schlosser establishes
his strong points within "In the Strawberry Fields" off of this mindset. Schlosser pulls on the heart strings of the reader by utilizing allusions in his
mood, tone and lyrical connections to put in perspective these workers' lives.
To begin, the title, "In the Strawberry Fields" is an allusion to The Beatles song "Strawberry Fields Forever", which once broken down, holds a variety
of comparisons to the immigrants. Though none of the comparisons are directly written in the text by Schlosser, when further examining the lyrics,
they begin to shine through. For example, the lyrics, "Life is easy with eyes closed, misunderstanding all you see" is highly similar to the immigrants
and their life on the fields. Corrupted the industry stands as the blind workers are oblivious to the cheating and mistreatment right in front of them.
Unfortunately, this is what the immigrants must endure in order to make a profit for their families. It is such an appalling place that the workers

Who Is The Most Important Philosophy?
Perspective is everything. Before I die I want to leave you with what I believe is the most important philosophy in life. I've learned a lot throughout
my many years, and wish I had known what I know now, when I was younger. We dictate our own lives. We get to choose how we want to interpret
the curve balls life throws at us. As humans, most of us are on the pursuit of happiness. It is believed that it's human nature to want to be happy, but
this is a very vague statement. For some people, being happy is a job that requires constant effort to be obtained. But perspective is absolutely the
key to everything. It can make acquiring happiness a more obtainable goal. Taking different perspectives changes the individual. Taking a step back,
and looking at a situation from a new perspective can be a life altering decision. It gives you a more realistic and understanding outlook on any
circumstance. If you make the effort to search for the best in a given situation, you are going to be more content in general. But if you're negative, and
search for the worst in a given situation, nothing will ever seem sufficient enough for you, and you will always be unsatisfied. It's all up to you, you
choose what perspective you want to take any any situation life presents to you.
I have reaped both the benefits and the disadvantages of taking positive and negative perspectives. A few years ago my house burnt down in a wildfire
in San Diego. It was an extremely horrific situation. Everyone was

The Goals Of Social Media
How many times have you read or been told that in order to keep yourself accountable to your goals, that you should announce them to the people
around you?
This is something that we see in many books and articles and we see people following this information as they post their goals on social media.
However, how many times do we actually see them accomplish these goals?
New studies are actually showing that announcing your goals is one of the worst things that you can do if you really want to achieve them.
Why?
The reason is because of naysayers. Those people who do not want to see you succeed for whatever reason.
I spoke briefly about these people in the previous chapter. They are the people who do not want to believe in you, they do not... Show more content on

That scares them.
How to Deal with Naysayers
The fact is that you are not going to change the people around you. There is no way for you to make them believe in you.
However, you can change yourself and how you deal with the negativity that they bring into your life.
The first thing that you need to remember is that you more to yourself than you do to the naysayers. What is it that you owe these people, which is
forcing you to prove them right?
Really think about what I am saying. These people do not pay your bills, they do not raise your children and they are not in control of anything in your
life. Remaining in a situation where you are unhappy just to make them happy seems a little silly.
Ask yourself, what could they lose by you finding happiness and reaching your goals.
These people might even try to convince you that you are fine just the way that you are in order to stop you from making the changes that you want to
make. You see, they are stealthy, most of them won't make it obvious that they are trying to hold you back, but instead will try to convince you that
they care about you, just as you are.
It is important for you to remember that these people need for you to fail. You see, if you fail, they can continue to tell themselves that there is no point
in trying to get healthy because if you weren't successful they won't be either.
It is just another way for them to come up with an excuse, a reason that they shouldn't worry about their

The Dark Knight Figures In 'The Dark Knight Rises'

(WORKING TITLE) Batman's duality as hero and hazard reflect how the capitalism present in America is both the problem and solution. As the third
installment in the Batman trilogy, a different tone is used when the hero is introduced in the beginning scene. In the preceding films, the hero has been
seen righting wrongs and serving justice by banishing the manipulative, toxic and evil villains Gotham is infested with. In the opening scene of The
Dark Knight Rises, Commissioner Gordon delivers a speech to honor the late Harvey Dent, former Gotham mayor, and his major contribution in ridding
the city's criminal activity. Dent was a symbol of hope and restoration from the economic decline Gotham faced and the gang activity that terrorized the
streets. Batman 2: The Dark Knight introduced the villainous Joker and his psychotic madness which led to Dent's own decline when the madman kills
Dent's lover. This sparked Dent's own madness and list of homicides. Wanting to preserve the hope Dent instilled onto the people and prevent chaos,
Batman takes the blame for Dent's transgression. And so, begins the duality of Batman.
Batman is the alter ego of wealthy and successful business man, Bruce Wayne. Wayne's parents were tragically murdered right in front of him when he
was young by an armed robber. This was the moment Wayne took an oath to himself that he would rid his city of the injustice and crime that killed his

Song Analysis of Hands Down by Dashboard Confessional Essay
"Hands Down"
By: Dashboard Confessional
Song Analysis
Everyone has that one song they can listen to over and over again. There are various reasons people press the repeat button, whether it be the sound of
the singer's voice, the quality of their musicianship, or their heartfelt lyrics and the story they tell. The song "Hands Down", by Dashboard Confessional
tells the story of a day–in–the–life of lead singer, Chris Carrabba, in high school. Carrabba has said that this song is about the best day he has ever had,
and introduces it as such at concerts. Dashboard Confessional effectively uses paradox, irony, imagery, and repetition, to enable the listener to create a
visual and experience emotions felt by the writer. "Hands ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The boy is hoping for something as simple as a kiss, and this simple action would please him so much that it would "kill" him. The boy is willing to
give up everything in order to experience this kiss and end his life on a happy note.
Another literary device used in "Hands Down" is irony. During the middle of the song, this line sets the mood for the story and the presumed
expectations of a teenage relationship.
"The words are hushed, let's not get busted.
Just lay entwined here, undiscovered,
Safe in here from all the stupid questions:
"Hey did you get some?"
Man, that is so dumb.
Stay quiet, stay near, stay close, they can't hear, so we can get some."
In most relationships sex is an essential and expected part, even for teenagers. Many teen relationships are subjected to the scrutiny of their peers on
whether or not they are "getting some". This stanza is ironic because in the beginning it says how dumb the questions about "getting some" are, yet at
the end it talks about doing just that. At the very end of the song, Dashboard uses imagery to describe the little things that you will always remember,
and the one special night that was meant to be ordinary, yet turned out to be so incredibly wonderful.
"Hands down, this is the best day I will ever remember.
I'll always remember the sound of the stereo,

David Guterson And His Use Of The Theme Of Nature Essay
David Guterson and His Use of the Theme of Nature
David Guterson, a young American author, has written two major works regarding aspects of human nature and human emotions. His first publication,
a collection of short stories, entitled The Country Ahead of Us, The Country
Behind addresses some of the moral dilemmas that humans face throughout their lives. His first novel, Snow Falling on Cedars, narrates the trial of a
Japanese man accused of murdering a white man in the post World War II era.
Throughout his literary works, Guterson uses elements of nature: land, trees, water and especially snow, as literal and metaphorical tools to develop
and resolve conflicts.

all human claims to the landscape were... made null and void by the snow"(Snow Falling
320). The snow covered the fields; all of the fields seemed as one field. The nine inches of snow caused a visual unity of the strawberry fields. "..the
world was one world"(Snow Falling 320).
The element of water is used as a paradox in Guterson's novel Snow
Falling on Cedars. Water is both the sustainer and taker of life. The damp and misty climate on San Piedro Island is the reason why the community
grows and prosper off of the strawberry based economy. Without the water, and the wet and nurturing environment it provided to the island there would
be no foundation for life. The ocean is also one of the key sources to the community. It provides the community with a way to make a living.
Water, the source of life in Guterson's literary works, is also the end of life. In several of his works water is portrayed as the place where life ends.
"...the wall of water rose up from behind...Carl Heine fell swift and hard against the Susan Marie's port gunnel. His head craked open above the left
ear and then he slid heavily beneath the waves"(Snow Falling 458). The tidal wave was the cause of Carl's death; the water, this element of nature was
truely responsible for the death of the fisherman. In that sense Gutersonn uses water

eyes. You can only perceive/understand things the way you do. You can perceive/understand things the way another person does. An example of this
would be if your playing a board game with a friend, and you get the one card you need to win the game. Your friend then accuses you ofcheating
because you got the one card you need to win the game. To him, he thinks you are cheating, because he just sees that you got the only card that could
win you the game. But you know that you didn't cheat in the game. In this example, you can perceive the game the same way that he does. In your
view you just got lucky, but in his view he thinks you're cheating.
Epictetus makes this point to show people that you never truly understand how other people think. He wants you to understand this so that when
things like people calling you names or they insult you, you can just let it slide because you might not know the reasoning for them to think that way.
The best way to respond to this behavior is to ask the people why they think that way, and to try and change their view of you. Epictetus is just saying
that the world isn't black and white and the way you see something might not be the way someone else see something. Like with the example above.

The Modern Medieval Hero
The Modern Medieval Hero
The Modern Medieval Hero
Bruce Wayne was only but a child when he watched helplessly as his parents were gunned down in front of him during a mugging in Gotham City.
This crime would come to define his life. To the public, he would excel and succeed his father and become the heir and millionaire of the Wayne
corporation. In secret, he would dedicate himself to becoming one of the world's greatest weapons against crime–the Batman.
Batman perfectly embodies the idea of a hero. He combats crime in the city of Gotham with relative ease having pushed himself to the absolute
pinnacle of physical human achievement while simultaneously wielding a mastery of fighting techniques and an arsenal of advanced crime–fighting
technology. An intellectually brilliant detective with a plan for any and every occasion, seemingly always ahead of his foes.
Batman battles anything from common thugs and criminals on city streets, to super villains and psychopaths wielding weapons or tools that could
mean an end for not only himself but for the city he strives to protect. The common criminals do not pose a threat to Batman himself, but he fights them
to save the people of Gotham City in accordance with a strong ethical code. He releases criminals to the authorities instead of handling them at his own
discretion. The criminals in his career typically do not pose such an immediate and large enough threat to civilian lives and so Batman will not kill them,

Arkham Knight Research Paper
The Knight Is Darkest Just Before The Dawn
When I reached the conclusion of Batman: Arkham Knight after 12 hours of solid pacing, I literally stood behind my chair like a five–year–old
cheering for his favorite superhero, biting my nails as I could no longer wait to see how it would all end. Not only does the finale of Batman: Arkham
Knight grant the legendary Arkham series the ending it deserves, but it also introduces so many new gameplay mechanics that it manages to outdo the
previous installments in the series, thus becoming the very best comic book game in existence. If I am to be completely honest here, I have to say that
Batman: Arkham Knight is possibly one of the best video games I ever got to play, period.
Hold my hand, honey. Now push. Come on, push!Hold my hand, honey. Now push. Come on, push!

In these separate side–missions, you will mostly be spending your time beating up thugs while chasing villains like Firefly, Two–Face and Penguin,
which doesn't always work in the game's favor. Most side–missions end with you confronting the villain behind it all, and instead of it going down with
a good old–fashioned boss fight, villains are easily knocked out by performing a Takedown of sorts (e.g. Stealth Takedown, Vehicle Takedown and
Dual Takedown). This is probably my biggest complaint with Batman: Arkham Knight, because I for one truly enjoyed the recurrent boss fight in
previous Arkham games. In any case, almost all of these side–missions are varied enough that they will keep you interested, and if not, you can always
choose to chase another villain and come back to the initial mission later thanks to the simple and clear Mission

Zara, The Owner Of Zara
Inditex, the owner of Zara, first started out in the dressmaking and textiles industry before opening the first Zara store in Spain in 1975. The founders,
Amancio Ortega and Rosalia Mera, pride themselves on the idea of fast fashion: incorporating a distribution system that keeps up with
continually–changing fashion trends. Zara has a very centralized headquarters in Arteixo, Spain. This allows Zara to have a good grasp on the
business processes. They focus on speed and responsiveness by delivering quick and small batches of clothing to stores at precise times. The first
logistics center for Zara was built in 1984 and encompassed about 10,000 square meters. Since then, Zara has been extremely successful in the
fashion industry, winning over the hearts in Europe and then working to expand to Asia and the U.S. The first US store opened in New York City in
1989, although only a dozen exist in America today. Zara has created a very creative business model and supply chain technique that is often studied
but rarely copied. About half of the manufacturing is either done in Spain or a neighboring country. This allows Zara to have a competitive edge on
their supply chain. Zara is a completely vertically–integrated retailer. Unlike similar retailers, Zara controls most of its own supply chain, from
designing, manufacturing and distributing to its products. Zara also offers considerably more products than similar companies. It produces about

Also, I have noticed people's reactions to the death of others. Just this year we lost a custodian, David Webb, who was very special to me. Though his
death was unnoticed here at first, when people found out that someone had died, they automatically felt sympathy for that person and his life and his
family. At the point of death, sympathy is an immediate reaction no matter who it is.
I also recall a story from this year's yearbook about a Palestinian man donating the heart of his son who died in war to an Israeli man. He said he was
willing to save a life regardless of race or religion.
But why for many must it take the closeness of death or the actual thing to bring us to compassion? Why must it take tragedy and sorrow for us to
finally concern ourselves with others beyond our own circle of friends – to realize that all people are people?
The importance of compassion is this: It gives you the ability to understand where other people are coming from and it has the power to change like
nothing else does. By showing it every day, rather than only after a devastating event, we can prevent those devastating events from happening. Gandhi,
widely respected, was compassionate. He saw the suffering of his people and took it upon himself to change India and in doing so also inspired the
U.S. civil rights movement. I personally have been changed by the exhibition of compassion of one man in history. To me, his compassion for anyone

Essay On Ray Bradbury
Who is Ray Bradbury? Well many of you probably already know who he is. He is an author who wrote many good books such as Fahrenheit 451,
The Martian Chronicles, The Illustrated Man, and The October Country. I have read his book Fahrenheit 451 and it was a spectacular piece of art. In
this paper you will learn more about this legendary author named Ray Bradbury.
Ray bradbury was born August 22nd, 1920 in Waukegan Illinois. He died June 5th, 2012 in Los Angeles California at the age of 91. His parents
were Leonard Spaulding Bradbury and Esther Moberg Bradbury. As a CHild he liked to watch magicians and liked to read adventure and fantasy
fiction. He especially liked the works of L. Frank Baum, Jules Verne, and Edgar Rice Burroughs.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While it seemed like a science fiction novel to everyone, Bradbury thought of it as a fantasy. Later on his short stories started to adapted as comic books.
Bradbury 's best known work was Fahrenheit 451 and personally one of my favorites. It became an instant hit in the era of McCarthyism because of its
dystopian theme. Later on in 2007 he disputed that Fahrenheit 451 was not about censorship but about how television drives away the want to
read.(Patia Daphne "Assault on free thought.")
Fahrenheit 451 is about a dystopian future where books are illegal, walls are televisions, and firemen don 't put out fires but start them to get rid of
books in the house. It is the story of Guy Montag who is a Firemen who goes against it all and reads books in secret and finds out that they shouldn 't
be burning them and he figures out the true history of the world. In this world there is no interest in doing anything but working and watching
television in their parlors, but the people who know what 's actually going on are hunted down and killed or put in prison.
Later on in his life, despite his hate for television, he advocated for movies and television shows. He had many screenplays written including his
take on Moby Dick in 1956, in 1986 he had a television series on HBO based around his short stories and comic books which ran until 1992. He
published 30 books, close 600 short

Analysis Of Paul Mccartney 's ' The Abbey Road Picture '

Paul is Dead A very famous conspiracy that many perceive to be true is that Paul McCartney is and has been dead since 1966. It is believed that the
band's manager and crew replaced him with a look alike that also sounds like him. The conspiracy's believers say that there are plenty of clues within
the songs and the album art, and they even believe the Abbey Road picture has clues. This paper will cover why the conspiracy may be true, why it
may be fake, and at the end there will be an unbiased opinion on the famous Beatle "death". How can this conspiracy be perceived as true? The
conspirators make plenty of good points, like how his car was in an accident on November 9, 1966. This is perceived to be the date of his death
and the conspirators believe you can see the date if you put a mirror halfway (horizontally) between the letters in the bass drum for Sergeant
Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album. If you set the mirror halfway like you're supposed to, you see 1 ONE IX HE DIE, the 1 ONE being 11,
which is November, and the IX being the 9th, when his car was involved in the accident. Also on that album cover, Paul is seen raising his right hand,
which in Eastern countries represents death. The Lonely Hearts Club album cover is seen as a landmine of clues. The Beatles are seen in band uniforms
around the drum with cut out people all around them and flowers in the front. People say they can see the flowers spell

Mistakes In Middle School
Like every other thirteen year old, I was curious about many things in my teenage life. Many factors came into play in this maturing stage that
would create the beginning to who I will later become in the future. This was also the point in time where most of my actions weren't too
intelligent and led to necessary punishments. Although I made many mistakes in my early years, I have managed to learn from every one of
them. I can still recall the day were I committed a wrong doing that was followed by an influential punishment. It all occurred in 7th grade, at the
middle school I attended. Middle school is basically the gateway to many factors like parties and girls for many guys. It can change people in many
ways. For me, I started off as a very successful student. My grades consisted of straight "A's" and never missed one day of school. I entered the new
student life with very few friends from previous years of education so I... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When my friend dropped me of that night, I had a bad feeling and felt like consequences were soon to come my way. As I entered my house
quietly, I intended to shower as quickly as possible and jump straight into bed. Right when I closed the door behind me, a feeling of sickness
struck me. As hard as I tried, I just couldn't keep the vomit down. It exploded out of my mouth and went everywhere. Immediately after, my
parents woke up to a drunken son laying on the ground in his very own puke. This was the beginning of the end for my popular self. The following
day was filled with an insane amount of disappointment and anger from my mom and dad. They had also discovered all of the missing grade reports
and were greatly overwhelmed with who I had become. I had no idea what I just got myself into. The punishment given to me wasn't like any other

Descriptive Essay On Volleyball Game
My friend and I planned on going to an NCTC Lady Lions Volleyball game on the twenty seventh. She picked me up a few minutes late, due to her
little sister's inability to put on the right shoes, but, fortunately, we didn't miss much of the game. I was relieved to know that they allowed food and
drinks in the gym because I had a sweet tea with me that I was just too friendly to part with. I also had a quesarito on the way, which another friend
was bringing for me. I didn't know it cost money to get into the game at first, (I should have known to bring money) but my friend is always prepared,
and she had enough money to pay for the both of us to enter.
As soon as we walked in we saw many people we knew, even a few of our teachers were there, but there were more people that we didn't know. It
was obnoxiously noisy in the gym and some people seemed very enthusiastic about the game, while the people I knew seemed indifferent. We took a
seat in the bleachers and began to watch. I don't usually watch any kinds of sports, and I've only attempted to play volleyball with one or two other
people, never a full team, so I was completely amazed to see how well the players were doing.
Both teams were good, but our team was just a little bit better, although, the other team was good enough to make the game interesting. The teams
were so good that they made it look like a simple game of hot potato, but in the air, or a mix between real life foosball and ping pong. I had noticed

Essay on James Bond Movies
James Bond Movies
I think that the writers intensions when he created James Bond was that he wanted him to be a man who could get out of any situation and is
irresistible to women, he also wanted him to be a secret agent who has all these interesting gadgets.
The first film that I will be reviewing is Goldeneye. Goldeneye was released in 1995. The storyline for Goldeneye is that the Russian mafia has a space
based weapons system called goldeneye. Its up to James Bond to save London from this, on his way he runs into characters such as a beautiful
computer programmer (Izabella scorupco), a former partner (Sean Bean), a wise cracking CIA agent (Joe Don Baker), an ex KGB officer (Robbie ...

James bond hits women in Goldeneye which a lot of women would find offending. An example of when he hits a woman is when he is talking to
Xenia and knocks her out by a chop to her neck and puts humor into it by saying "good night".
The song Goldeneye by Tina Turner is very effective in the film because it blends in with everything that is happening in that section of the film. The
original James Bond theme is mostly played in the action parts of the movie and at the start of the movie. The James Bond soundtrack theme is
played in all of his movies, and when you hear that soundtrack you would associate it with James Bond. When many people that hear that soundtrack
being played somewhere they would immediately link it with James Bond because it is something that resembles him. When there is a romantic scene
in Goldeneye they would play calm and soothing music, and when there is a fight they would play music that is loud and fast and will get you hyped up.
The second James Bond film that I will be reviewing is Goldfinger. Goldfinger was the third James Bond film and was created in 1964. In
Goldfinger the main character played by Gert Frobe, isn't the most vicious villain to stand against 007 but he is intelligent and is obsessed with gold.
Frobe is good for the role of Goldfinger because he shows the different personalities that he has– cruelty,

I am a full–time student and I reside on campus. I am in the honors program and many of the honors cohort resides in Anthony or Sherman Hall. I
am including this in my paper because I want you to understand that the people who I live with I am familiar with. Our laundry room is combined

kitchen area at the table so people would come in and see that I was folding my clothes and just make normal conversation with me.
While I was folding my clothes wet in the laundry room this girl who lives down the hall was cooking herself dinner which smelt very good by the

Analysis Of La Migra By Pat Mra
In Pat Mora's poem, La Migra, she talks about a game being played. The title of the poem is the game, but, it is not a game. She gives descriptions on
the border patrol officer and the Mexican woman he is looking for. She lists them separately and describes their strengths and weaknesses on how to
beat one another in this game. While us readers do not get a definite answer on who wins this "game" we get a good sense as to who has the upper
hand. By introducing the Mexican maid second, the way she responds to the officer's remarks, she outsmarts him at his own game. This can be
drawn to a conclusion in which she wins the "game" and gets away. Pat Mora uses the perspective of the officer, immigrant, and the image of running
from the officer as a game to receive the audience's attention. As readers of the poem, La Migra, we can use the theme and relate it to today's feud
about police brutality and injustices. Pat Mora easily obtains the audience's attention by stating that the two characters will be playing a game. La
Migra, is the Spanish translation from border patrol in English. It is often heard and used in the media to instill fear in immigrants in the U.S.
towards deportation and troubling means. "Let's play La Migra" (Mora 528) is the first stanza presented in the poem. Having this as the first line, it
makes readers wonder. What game is it? How is it played? What does La Migra mean? (to non–Spanish speakers). It grabs and keeps your attention
right form the get go because it gets you thinking about what game is going to be played and wanting to find out more of the game itself along with the
rules and players. While continuing to read, more is introduced and us readers find out what kind of game it is. Then it bares the question, why
would this be considered a game? Immigrants today are living in constant fear of being deported and taken back to their homeland where one can
assume escaped life there in hopes of a better life in the states. While this is a real–life situation that people deal with daily, the author turns it into a
game to interest the readers more and give insight into what is going on with border patrol. Mora uses another strategy to keep the reader's interest, and
that is by

What Does It Mean To You Essay
Everyone says things come and go so don't stress so much about what you can't control. (Ha that kind of rhymed)
Anyways ... people never tell you what you'll experience when "it" does arrive and when "it" eventually leaves. What I refer to as "it" is anything you
want to substitute it for. For me "it" refers to people.
If you will, join me and i'll take you on a tour of my own personal journey, enjoy :)
I understand what it feels like to have the world against you. Especially to the point where you feel so trapped and you feel like you're just not good
enough. I'm pretty sure you've all heard people say "I can be standing in a room full of people screaming at the top of my lungs and yet nobody seems

Sadly, that's how I felt. I'm a happy person, I genuinely love being positive. However, for some odd reason I was drowning in my own sorrow.
In those moments not only was I looking for happiness .... I was looking for REAL happiness because I wanted my positive attitude back.
I want all my viewers to know it's okay to feel sad but you need to brush it off, get back up and keep pushing forward. I want you to acknowledge that
there's nothing wrong with you. Whatever loss you've encountered understand that it's not your fault and something great will come out of it. I want
you to know that you're enough!

Beverly Atlee Bunn: A Brief Biography
Beverly Atlee Bunn was born on April 12, 1916 in McMinnville, Oregon. She lived as an only child, parented by her mother and father. Her father
first started out doing farm work, and greatly enjoyed it. Her mother called those years "slavery years" because she felt that her husband didn't
appreciate her enough. Eventually Beverly's father had to get another job, due to the great Depression that happened in 1929. Money became tight
and Beverly's father had to get a job working at a bank. You can say she grew up an educated child, although at first she struggled greatly in reading

She's among one of my favorite authors. Even if her books are for lower level children, when I stumble upon one of her books and I usually just

by life's struggles. She also puts a nice little spin on family issues, but in the end everything turns out to be alright like a fairy tale. I feel like I can
connect her character with my own scenarios. Once, when describing Beverly, one her teachers remarked, "This one... is a nuisance" (pg.100).
Although a teacher has never said that to me (that I know of), I have been called a pest, annoying and a nuisance. So when I saw that a famous person
could have had the same character traits, I took it upon myself to become more annoying. My sister did not quite like that... As another example,
Beverly used to struggle in the same subject that I did––English. In school, Beverly Cleary could not read well. So she went to great measures to avoid

would go against her mother's orders and, for example, go sliding down stairs on a broomstick. Or she would simply do it for the fun of it. Once she
even dared to risk her life. "I climbed out of the window, on to the ledge. I then began to walk around the

The Forever War By Joe Haldeman
The Forever War by Joe Haldeman is a classic work of military science fiction depicting a war between the human race and an unfamiliar alien entity
known as the Taurans. The overall plot line follows a fairly typical path, but Haldeman's real genius is realized through the interactions that take place
between the protagonist, William Mandella, and the Earth he returns to between military operations. Developing beneath the ever–present war of the
two species lies a much subtler conflict between generations of human thought and culture. Brought about by the way troops are transported in space,
time dilation creates an interesting dichotomy between the early soldiers of the war and the rapid evolution of human society and culture remaining on
Earth. The Forever Warquestions the stability of human nature by creating a scenario where its fluidity is exposed through an invariable link to time.
The expression of human nature changes as cultural and personal identities adapt to new situations; viewing these changes through Mandella, we begin
to see how different expressions of human nature can impact human nature itself. William Mandella is an intelligent physics student who was drafted
into the military at the age of twenty–three. Beginning his journey in the year 1997, he goes on missions in space to advance the human agenda against
the Tauran alien race. As he and his company serve their military term, they utilize the recently discovered mode of interstellar transportation

The Negative Impact Of Body Shaming In The Brand Of...
While Forever 21 hires countless models to represent their brand, Chrissy Teigen, one of the most sought–after supermodels, was fired for being "too

As the years progressed, the store became more accepting to our society. Forever 21 is a fashion brand that promotes the latest trends that target young

The arrangement and spacings of the furniture give Forever 21 a modern look to draw in their target customers. For example, their pieces of furniture.
Customers who walk in the store will observe white furniture such as tables and shelves throughout the store, which makes the store look spacious for

Interdependency Case

  • 1. Interdependency Case We arrived at room 822 at 9:10 am. They were doing dependency cases all morning. At the professional table we had ChildNet, Drug dependency, Guardian Ad Litem, Guardian Ad Litem Lawyer and on the side we had Linda the foster parent. To me, this also went really fast with the new terminologies that they were using. They were going through the case plans and giving the Judge a summary on the parents' progress. They used the term UA's negative and positives which meant urine analysis. They used that to determine if they had been using any illegal substances. For this particular case I learned that social workers are very overwhelmed. The client was telling the Judge how her therapist from Susan B. Anthony quit without notice and she had to start her treatment again with another therapist. I also learned that both the mom and dad of the child are going to Alcoholic Anonymous (AA) as part of the treatment. The lawyers requested them to get unsupervised visitations 3 times a week for up to 4 hours. The Judge confirmed approval with the foster parent first, and she seemed willing. At that point I sympathized with the parents only being able to see their child 3 times a week. But at the same time they did it to themselves. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Going to court has opened me up to the third side of society. We have our daily life society, the society we see in the television and now the society in court. This experience will forever stick with me and I now know that I can publicly go and sit down to certain court hearings. The fact that I will be watched every move by security personnel and the cameras is disturbing, but I know it's for safety reasons. I will definitely return to the courthouse as a civilian during my spare time and hopefully as a professional when I get my Bachelors in Social ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Video Game And Violent Video Games Along with the rapid development of the internet in recent years, game and violence game have become companions of young people. We could not deny the fact that video game already has strong attraction for many people. Especially in today's society, when work pressure is growing, gaming is an effective solution to relieve tension, dispel feeling of fatigue, anxiety. Playing the normal videogame, which it not include any violence scenes, plus regulatory reasonable playing time can help players relaxed and balanced in terms of psychological after hours of studying, and working hard. But a lot of current game players do not like the game that bring the gently feeling, they want to experience a new kind of game, which make up a stronger feeling, and be able to do thing that they would not be able to do in the real world. This is one major reason that make people who enjoy to play violence video game have increase, and difficult to abandon this kind of game. A lot of people think that when you often playing violent video game, you will easy be haunted by the feeling of the spectacle going on in the game, and this will lead to the violation of real life. There is also an argument that violent video game did not affect the players because it is just a game, and it not real. The players should be able to tell what is real and what is virtual. In my opinion, playing violent video game did not affect to people behavior. Instead of that, playing violent video game is a benefit to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Rhetorical Analysis Of In The Strawberry Fields "In the Strawberry Fields" Rhetorical Analysis From the beginning, all lives are built on the aspirations of our parents; the ideal image of success and prosperity in adult life. Whether it is given to us on a silver platter or strived for, it is the understanding of how we got there that matters. Take into consideration how the strawberries got to the grocery stores. Someone had to put them there, and those people are the immigrants working, trying to get by. Knowing this, Eric Schlosser establishes his strong points within "In the Strawberry Fields" off of this mindset. Schlosser pulls on the heart strings of the reader by utilizing allusions in his mood, tone and lyrical connections to put in perspective these workers' lives. To begin, the title, "In the Strawberry Fields" is an allusion to The Beatles song "Strawberry Fields Forever", which once broken down, holds a variety of comparisons to the immigrants. Though none of the comparisons are directly written in the text by Schlosser, when further examining the lyrics, they begin to shine through. For example, the lyrics, "Life is easy with eyes closed, misunderstanding all you see" is highly similar to the immigrants and their life on the fields. Corrupted the industry stands as the blind workers are oblivious to the cheating and mistreatment right in front of them. Unfortunately, this is what the immigrants must endure in order to make a profit for their families. It is such an appalling place that the workers ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Who Is The Most Important Philosophy? Perspective is everything. Before I die I want to leave you with what I believe is the most important philosophy in life. I've learned a lot throughout my many years, and wish I had known what I know now, when I was younger. We dictate our own lives. We get to choose how we want to interpret the curve balls life throws at us. As humans, most of us are on the pursuit of happiness. It is believed that it's human nature to want to be happy, but this is a very vague statement. For some people, being happy is a job that requires constant effort to be obtained. But perspective is absolutely the key to everything. It can make acquiring happiness a more obtainable goal. Taking different perspectives changes the individual. Taking a step back, and looking at a situation from a new perspective can be a life altering decision. It gives you a more realistic and understanding outlook on any circumstance. If you make the effort to search for the best in a given situation, you are going to be more content in general. But if you're negative, and search for the worst in a given situation, nothing will ever seem sufficient enough for you, and you will always be unsatisfied. It's all up to you, you choose what perspective you want to take any any situation life presents to you. I have reaped both the benefits and the disadvantages of taking positive and negative perspectives. A few years ago my house burnt down in a wildfire in San Diego. It was an extremely horrific situation. Everyone was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Goals Of Social Media How many times have you read or been told that in order to keep yourself accountable to your goals, that you should announce them to the people around you? This is something that we see in many books and articles and we see people following this information as they post their goals on social media. However, how many times do we actually see them accomplish these goals? New studies are actually showing that announcing your goals is one of the worst things that you can do if you really want to achieve them. Why? The reason is because of naysayers. Those people who do not want to see you succeed for whatever reason. I spoke briefly about these people in the previous chapter. They are the people who do not want to believe in you, they do not... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That scares them. How to Deal with Naysayers The fact is that you are not going to change the people around you. There is no way for you to make them believe in you. However, you can change yourself and how you deal with the negativity that they bring into your life. The first thing that you need to remember is that you more to yourself than you do to the naysayers. What is it that you owe these people, which is forcing you to prove them right? Really think about what I am saying. These people do not pay your bills, they do not raise your children and they are not in control of anything in your life. Remaining in a situation where you are unhappy just to make them happy seems a little silly. Ask yourself, what could they lose by you finding happiness and reaching your goals. These people might even try to convince you that you are fine just the way that you are in order to stop you from making the changes that you want to make. You see, they are stealthy, most of them won't make it obvious that they are trying to hold you back, but instead will try to convince you that they care about you, just as you are. It is important for you to remember that these people need for you to fail. You see, if you fail, they can continue to tell themselves that there is no point in trying to get healthy because if you weren't successful they won't be either. It is just another way for them to come up with an excuse, a reason that they shouldn't worry about their

  • 8. The Dark Knight Figures In 'The Dark Knight Rises' Monica Yip Carrie Jean Schroeder English 1C 30 August 2017 (WORKING TITLE) Batman's duality as hero and hazard reflect how the capitalism present in America is both the problem and solution. As the third installment in the Batman trilogy, a different tone is used when the hero is introduced in the beginning scene. In the preceding films, the hero has been seen righting wrongs and serving justice by banishing the manipulative, toxic and evil villains Gotham is infested with. In the opening scene of The Dark Knight Rises, Commissioner Gordon delivers a speech to honor the late Harvey Dent, former Gotham mayor, and his major contribution in ridding the city's criminal activity. Dent was a symbol of hope and restoration from the economic decline Gotham faced and the gang activity that terrorized the streets. Batman 2: The Dark Knight introduced the villainous Joker and his psychotic madness which led to Dent's own decline when the madman kills Dent's lover. This sparked Dent's own madness and list of homicides. Wanting to preserve the hope Dent instilled onto the people and prevent chaos, Batman takes the blame for Dent's transgression. And so, begins the duality of Batman. Batman is the alter ego of wealthy and successful business man, Bruce Wayne. Wayne's parents were tragically murdered right in front of him when he was young by an armed robber. This was the moment Wayne took an oath to himself that he would rid his city of the injustice and crime that killed his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Song Analysis of Hands Down by Dashboard Confessional Essay "Hands Down" By: Dashboard Confessional Song Analysis Everyone has that one song they can listen to over and over again. There are various reasons people press the repeat button, whether it be the sound of the singer's voice, the quality of their musicianship, or their heartfelt lyrics and the story they tell. The song "Hands Down", by Dashboard Confessional tells the story of a day–in–the–life of lead singer, Chris Carrabba, in high school. Carrabba has said that this song is about the best day he has ever had, and introduces it as such at concerts. Dashboard Confessional effectively uses paradox, irony, imagery, and repetition, to enable the listener to create a visual and experience emotions felt by the writer. "Hands ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The boy is hoping for something as simple as a kiss, and this simple action would please him so much that it would "kill" him. The boy is willing to give up everything in order to experience this kiss and end his life on a happy note. Another literary device used in "Hands Down" is irony. During the middle of the song, this line sets the mood for the story and the presumed expectations of a teenage relationship. "The words are hushed, let's not get busted. Just lay entwined here, undiscovered, Safe in here from all the stupid questions: "Hey did you get some?" Man, that is so dumb. Stay quiet, stay near, stay close, they can't hear, so we can get some." In most relationships sex is an essential and expected part, even for teenagers. Many teen relationships are subjected to the scrutiny of their peers on whether or not they are "getting some". This stanza is ironic because in the beginning it says how dumb the questions about "getting some" are, yet at the end it talks about doing just that. At the very end of the song, Dashboard uses imagery to describe the little things that you will always remember, and the one special night that was meant to be ordinary, yet turned out to be so incredibly wonderful.

  • 11. David Guterson And His Use Of The Theme Of Nature Essay David Guterson and His Use of the Theme of Nature David Guterson, a young American author, has written two major works regarding aspects of human nature and human emotions. His first publication, a collection of short stories, entitled The Country Ahead of Us, The Country Behind addresses some of the moral dilemmas that humans face throughout their lives. His first novel, Snow Falling on Cedars, narrates the trial of a Japanese man accused of murdering a white man in the post World War II era. Throughout his literary works, Guterson uses elements of nature: land, trees, water and especially snow, as literal and metaphorical tools to develop and resolve conflicts. David Guterson ... The snow covered the fields; all of the fields seemed as one field. The nine inches of snow caused a visual unity of the strawberry fields. "..the world was one world"(Snow Falling 320). The element of water is used as a paradox in Guterson's novel Snow Falling on Cedars. Water is both the sustainer and taker of life. The damp and misty climate on San Piedro Island is the reason why the community grows and prosper off of the strawberry based economy. Without the water, and the wet and nurturing environment it provided to the island there would be no foundation for life. His head craked open above the left ear and then he slid heavily beneath the waves"(Snow Falling 458). The tidal wave was the cause of Carl's death; the water, this element of nature was truely responsible for the death of the fisherman. In that sense Gutersonn uses water ... An example of this would be if your playing a board game with a friend, and you get the one card you need to win the game. Your friend then accuses you ofcheating because you got the one card you need to win the game. To him, he thinks you are cheating, because he just sees that you got the only card that could win you the game. But you know that you didn't cheat in the game. In this example, you can perceive the game the same way that he does. In your view you just got lucky, but in his view he thinks you're cheating. Epictetus makes this point to show people that you never truly understand how other people think. He wants you to understand this so that when things like people calling you names or they insult you, you can just let it slide because you might not know the reasoning for them to think that way. The best way to respond to this behavior is to ask the people why they think that way, and to try and change their view of you. In secret, he would dedicate himself to becoming one of the world's greatest weapons against crime–the Batman. Batman perfectly embodies the idea of a hero. An intellectually brilliant detective with a plan for any and every occasion, seemingly always ahead of his foes. Batman battles anything from common thugs and criminals on city streets, to super villains and psychopaths wielding weapons or tools that could mean an end for not only himself but for the city he strives to protect. The common criminals do not pose a threat to Batman himself, but he fights them to save the people of Gotham City in accordance with a strong ethical code. He releases criminals to the authorities instead of handling them at his own discretion. Arkham Knight Research Paper The Knight Is Darkest Just Before The Dawn When I reached the conclusion of Batman: Arkham Knight after 12 hours of solid pacing, I literally stood behind my chair like a five–year–old cheering for his favorite superhero, biting my nails as I could no longer wait to see how it would all end. Not only does the finale of Batman: Arkham Knight grant the legendary Arkham series the ending it deserves, but it also introduces so many new gameplay mechanics that it manages to outdo the previous installments in the series, thus becoming the very best comic book game in existence. If I am to be completely honest here, I have to say that Batman: Arkham Knight is possibly one of the best video games I ever got to play, period. Hold my hand, honey. Now push. Come on, push!Hold my hand, honey. Now push. Come on, push! Most side–missions end with you confronting the villain behind it all, and instead of it going down with a good old–fashioned boss fight, villains are easily knocked out by performing a Takedown of sorts (e.g. Stealth Takedown, Vehicle Takedown and Dual Takedown). This is probably my biggest complaint with Batman: Arkham Knight, because I for one truly enjoyed the recurrent boss fight in previous Arkham games. The founders, Amancio Ortega and Rosalia Mera, pride themselves on the idea of fast fashion: incorporating a distribution system that keeps up with continually–changing fashion trends. Zara has a very centralized headquarters in Arteixo, Spain. This allows Zara to have a good grasp on the business processes. They focus on speed and responsiveness by delivering quick and small batches of clothing to stores at precise times. The first logistics center for Zara was built in 1984 and encompassed about 10,000 square meters. Since then, Zara has been extremely successful in the fashion industry, winning over the hearts in Europe and then working to expand to Asia and the U.S. The first US store opened in New York City in 1989, although only a dozen exist in America today. Zara has created a very creative business model and supply chain technique that is often studied but rarely copied. About half of the manufacturing is either done in Spain or a neighboring country. This allows Zara to have a competitive edge on their supply chain. Zara is a completely vertically–integrated retailer. Unlike similar retailers, Zara controls most of its own supply chain, from designing, manufacturing and distributing to its products. Also, I have noticed people's reactions to the death of others. Just this year we lost a custodian, David Webb, who was very special to me. Though his death was unnoticed here at first, when people found out that someone had died, they automatically felt sympathy for that person and his life and his family. At the point of death, sympathy is an immediate reaction no matter who it is. I also recall a story from this year's yearbook about a Palestinian man donating the heart of his son who died in war to an Israeli man. He said he was willing to save a life regardless of race or religion. But why for many must it take the closeness of death or the actual thing to bring us to compassion? Why must it take tragedy and sorrow for us to finally concern ourselves with others beyond our own circle of friends – to realize that all people are people? The importance of compassion is this: It gives you the ability to understand where other people are coming from and it has the power to change like nothing else does. By showing it every day, rather than only after a devastating event, we can prevent those devastating events from happening. Gandhi, widely respected, was compassionate. He saw the suffering of his people and took it upon himself to change India and in doing so also inspired the U.S. civil rights movement. I personally have been changed by the exhibition of compassion of one man in history. To me, his compassion for anyone and everyone has given me the

He is an author who wrote many good books such as Fahrenheit 451, The Martian Chronicles, The Illustrated Man, and The October Country. I have read his book Fahrenheit 451 and it was a spectacular piece of art. In this paper you will learn more about this legendary author named Ray Bradbury. Ray bradbury was born August 22nd, 1920 in Waukegan Illinois. He died June 5th, 2012 in Los Angeles California at the age of 91. His parents were Leonard Spaulding Bradbury and Esther Moberg Bradbury. As a CHild he liked to watch magicians and liked to read adventure and fantasy fiction. He especially liked the works of L. Later on his short stories started to adapted as comic books. Bradbury 's best known work was Fahrenheit 451 and personally one of my favorites. It became an instant hit in the era of McCarthyism because of its dystopian theme. Later on in 2007 he disputed that Fahrenheit 451 was not about censorship but about how television drives away the want to read.(Patia Daphne "Assault on free thought.") Fahrenheit 451 is about a dystopian future where books are illegal, walls are televisions, and firemen don 't put out fires but start them to get rid of books in the house. It is the story of Guy Montag who is a Firemen who goes against it all and reads books in secret and finds out that they shouldn 't be burning them and he figures out the true history of the world. In this world there is no interest in doing anything but working and watching television in their parlors, but the people who know what 's actually going on are hunted down and killed or put in prison. Later on in his life, despite his hate for television, he advocated for movies and television shows. He had many screenplays written including his take on Moby Dick in 1956, in 1986 he had a television series on HBO based around his short stories and comic books which ran until 1992. It is believed that the band's manager and crew replaced him with a look alike that also sounds like him. The conspiracy's believers say that there are plenty of clues within the songs and the album art, and they even believe the Abbey Road picture has clues. This paper will cover why the conspiracy may be true, why it may be fake, and at the end there will be an unbiased opinion on the famous Beatle "death". How can this conspiracy be perceived as true? The conspirators make plenty of good points, like how his car was in an accident on November 9, 1966. This is perceived to be the date of his death and the conspirators believe you can see the date if you put a mirror halfway (horizontally) between the letters in the bass drum for Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album. If you set the mirror halfway like you're supposed to, you see 1 ONE IX HE DIE, the 1 ONE being 11, which is November, and the IX being the 9th, when his car was involved in the accident. Also on that album cover, Paul is seen raising his right hand, which in Eastern countries represents death. The Lonely Hearts Club album cover is seen as a landmine of clues. I was relieved to know that they allowed food and drinks in the gym because I had a sweet tea with me that I was just too friendly to part with. An example of when he hits a woman is when he is talking to Xenia and knocks her out by a chop to her neck and puts humor into it by saying "good night". The song Goldeneye by Tina Turner is very effective in the film because it blends in with everything that is happening in that section of the film. The original James Bond theme is mostly played in the action parts of the movie and at the start of the movie. The James Bond soundtrack theme is played in all of his movies, and when you hear that soundtrack you would associate it with James Bond. When many people that hear that soundtrack being played somewhere they would immediately link it with James Bond because it is something that resembles him. When there is a romantic scene in Goldeneye they would play calm and soothing music, and when there is a fight they would play music that is loud and fast and will get you hyped up. The second James Bond film that I will be reviewing is Goldfinger. Goldfinger was the third James Bond film and was created in 1964. • 30. Analysis Of La Migra By Pat Mra In Pat Mora's poem, La Migra, she talks about a game being played. The title of the poem is the game, but, it is not a game. She gives descriptions on the border patrol officer and the Mexican woman he is looking for. She lists them separately and describes their strengths and weaknesses on how to beat one another in this game. While us readers do not get a definite answer on who wins this "game" we get a good sense as to who has the upper hand. By introducing the Mexican maid second, the way she responds to the officer's remarks, she outsmarts him at his own game. This can be drawn to a conclusion in which she wins the "game" and gets away. Pat Mora uses the perspective of the officer, immigrant, and the image of running from the officer as a game to receive the audience's attention. As readers of the poem, La Migra, we can use the theme and relate it to today's feud about police brutality and injustices. Pat Mora easily obtains the audience's attention by stating that the two characters will be playing a game. La Migra, is the Spanish translation from border patrol in English. It is often heard and used in the media to instill fear in immigrants in the U.S. towards deportation and troubling means. "Let's play La Migra" (Mora 528) is the first stanza presented in the poem. Having this as the first line, it makes readers wonder. What game is it? How is it played? What does La Migra mean? (to non–Spanish speakers). It grabs and keeps your attention right form the get go because it gets you thinking about what game is going to be played and wanting to find out more of the game itself along with the rules and players. While continuing to read, more is introduced and us readers find out what kind of game it is. Then it bares the question, why would this be considered a game? Immigrants today are living in constant fear of being deported and taken back to their homeland where one can assume escaped life there in hopes of a better life in the states. While this is a real–life situation that people deal with daily, the author turns it into a game to interest the readers more and give insight into what is going on with border patrol. Mora uses another strategy to keep the reader's interest, and that is by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Her father first started out doing farm work, and greatly enjoyed it. Her mother called those years "slavery years" because she felt that her husband didn't appreciate her enough. Eventually Beverly's father had to get another job, due to the great Depression that happened in 1929. Money became tight and Beverly's father had to get a job working at a bank. You can say she grew up an educated child, although at first she struggled greatly in reading and writing. She mastered those subjects around the 3rd grade. As Beverly grew she had a hunger for reading. Since their small town didn't have a library, her mother... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She's among one of my favorite authors. Even if her books are for lower level children, when I stumble upon one of her books and I usually just read it all. Sadly, the world has changed in many ways, either for better or worse. Her books gently remind us of how a child can be hurt or affected by life's struggles. She also puts a nice little spin on family issues, but in the end everything turns out to be alright like a fairy tale. I feel like I can connect her character with my own scenarios. Once, when describing Beverly, one her teachers remarked, "This one... is a nuisance" (pg.100). Although a teacher has never said that to me (that I know of), I have been called a pest, annoying and a nuisance. So when I saw that a famous person could have had the same character traits, I took it upon myself to become more annoying. My sister did not quite like that... As another example, Beverly used to struggle in the same subject that I did––English. In school, Beverly Cleary could not read well. So she went to great measures to avoid reading:"I flatly refused to open a book" (pg.85). Like Beverly, I eventually became comfortable with the subject. Beverly used to be very bold. She would go against her mother's orders and, for example, go sliding down stairs on a broomstick. Or she would simply do it for the fun of it. Once she even dared to risk her life. "I climbed out of the window, on to the ledge. I then began to walk around the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Narrative Essay On Integrity I stared at myself in the mirror, the image of myself seeming to distort. Tears streamed down my face and I covered my face with my hands, sinking to the bathroom floor. Nothing made sense. I looked in the mirror, but it didn't look like me. Did I steal this body from someone? I didn't understand why I was feeling like this. I got myself cleaned up and climbed in bed, not wanting to be conscious of my thoughts anymore. The next morning I got up, put on a skirt and a blouse, and caked my face with makeup. The whole process was very tiring, since it was five in the morning, but I had to do it. If I didn't, I wouldn't fit in with everybody else. So I readied myself for the day and jumped right into the pit of sharks that was high school. This place was my own personal nightmare. I didn't have very many friends to begin with, and my extreme insecurity only made it harder for me to talk to people. I felt wrong constantly. I wasn't even there, really. I just stumbled through my schedule, went home and took off the mask, then broke down and started the process all over again. It was like this day after day. I didn't understand what was wrong with me or why I felt so bad about myself all the time. I had everything. I had friends, few and far between, but people ... I was just scrolling through the website one day, and saw a post about transgender people. I was a curious kid, and I didn't know much about it. After reading various articles and posts about it, I was filled with a weird sense of belonging. A sense of, "there are other people like me". I didn't know what to do with this information. • 38. The Forever War By Joe Haldeman The Forever War by Joe Haldeman is a classic work of military science fiction depicting a war between the human race and an unfamiliar alien entity known as the Taurans. The overall plot line follows a fairly typical path, but Haldeman's real genius is realized through the interactions that take place between the protagonist, William Mandella, and the Earth he returns to between military operations. Developing beneath the ever–present war of the two species lies a much subtler conflict between generations of human thought and culture. Brought about by the way troops are transported in space, time dilation creates an interesting dichotomy between the early soldiers of the war and the rapid evolution of human society and culture remaining on Earth. The Forever Warquestions the stability of human nature by creating a scenario where its fluidity is exposed through an invariable link to time. The expression of human nature changes as cultural and personal identities adapt to new situations; viewing these changes through Mandella, we begin to see how different expressions of human nature can impact human nature itself. William Mandella is an intelligent physics student who was drafted into the military at the age of twenty–three. Beginning his journey in the year 1997, he goes on missions in space to advance the human agenda against the Tauran alien race. As he and his company serve their military term, they utilize the recently discovered mode of interstellar transportation ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
