I Am A Great Day
It was a very windy morning the air smelt like rain as the buzzing noise of my alarm clock frazzled
me as I awoke. It was 5 a.m. and as I opened up an ice cold cup of macadamia nut coffee, I knew it
was going to be a great day. I called my grandmother who had been encouraging me to stay positive
and to be the best that I could be. She told me that she loved me then it was time to go. As I got off
the telephone and quickly went to freshen up, I began to get my things in order for my pageant.
Grabbing my purple, heavy, and rectangular suitcase and my white, sparkly, long gown, I was now
out the door. I had built up this anxiety of stage fright when it was not much to be afraid of. I
noticed my tummy was starting to turn as I approached ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I pulled out a beautiful, white, elegant, and silky gown with gold sequins around its neck. In my
opinion, this was a winning dress. Within the next twenty minutes, our names were being called.
This was the first on–stage practice that we ever did. The stage was not so frightening as one would
think. The big bright beams of light blinded me allowing me to feel as if noone was there. The stage
became peaceful and relaxed. I began to practice with four inch heels, I noticed that this event was
not properly organized. Everything that was dictated was made up as we went along this made me
feel confused, but there was no giving up now.
Backstage, as I got ready, I listened to my competitors talk about college degrees. I realized that I
was the only one who did not have one. My brains began to shake as it was on some kind of carnival
ride. "Why didn 't I take school seriously," I asked myself. I looked up as my makeup artist walked
into the room nonchalantly. She had the most lovely, black, frilled, studded gem dress on. My heart
began to skip a beat when she surprised me with the most stunning pair of earrings. They were gold,
heavy, and they sparkled from across the room. As I put on the earrings, the director came into our
room with an eager voice saying, "You girls have one hour." My makeup artist was working at the
speed of light with three pallets of eye shadows opened, and three different makeup brushes in one
hand. She was

Fears: A Short Story
Fear. Everyone experiences it at one point or another, whether it's a tiny fear or a tremendous one.
The problem is, what do we do with those fears? Cassidy was walking out of her math class when
she heard her friend, Adira, call out her name, "Cassidy, wait up!" She shoved a paper in her face,
and as Cassidy scanned over it her eyes went wide. It was a flyer announcing auditions for the
school's musical. "Why are you showing me this," Cassidy asks. "You should tryout! With your
amazing voice I'm 100% positive you'll get the lead. Come on Cas," Adira said excitedly. Cassidy
mentally facepalmed herself wondering how this girl could possibly be her best friend. There was

Essay on The Great Gig in the Sky
At a late Thursday night, I have received word that I would perform in a fancy ball room. With only
two weeks of experience I had a gig in front of a hundred people. Like many first gigs, the stage
plays tricks on you and makes you feel inferior. Stage fright had to go away at some point, so I
decided for it to be this Saturday night. Countless of hours put into this one night, I would practice
day in and day out. There was something for me to prove. You don't have to be naturally talented
and experienced to become successful or to perform at a high level. All it takes is a little self–
confidence and hard work. Is two weeks enough for a musician to pick up an instrument and
perform? A sunny day in Houston, Texas. Just this morning I have ... Show more content on

My heart quickly accelerated and continued to run for its life. I looked at my hands which were
beginning to moisture. The thought of performing with little experience struck me down. I was a
nervous wreck and I knew that within the next five minutes. I will give it my all or die trying. I
patiently waited to be called. A loud thumping noise is heard as I head over to the door and open the
door. It was my father. "There is no need to feel nervous. You worked so hard and pushed yourself
to prove a point. Although that may be true, you worked so hard not only for success but also for the
enjoyment of performing." My dad had turned his back on me and faded away. I stood still thinking
about what he has told me. There was a better reason to why I stood up so late and practiced so
much. From the beginning, playing an instrument was a wonderful experience. With a confident
look and a brighter self–esteem. I was ready to rock n roll! I treasured the moment. I put on my
shades and walked across the hall with a determined look. I made my way backstage and was
suddenly called to the stage. The spotlight was brighter than the suns ray. I foolishly put my shades
back on and take a look around me. Complete silence was around me. Such a quiet, yet eerie
atmosphere. Eyes across the stage followed me like a homing missile. I strum a chord and begin
playing. A rough start was quickly changed whenever the music began progressing. After all, all that

The Importance Of Drama Within The Classroom
At the start of the year, all of the smiling classmates bounced in their seat, awaiting the news of the
project to be announced. After the bell chimed throughout the hall, the buzzing sounds of laughter
and faint voices began to fade, patiently waiting to hear the criteria. As my drama teacher explained
the instructions for our final group presentation, all eyes stumbled upon me. One member of each
group had to write a script for a story they wanted to tell, and instantly my group chose me. The idea
of it all caused my heart to pound, and my eyes glanced around the dirty tiled floor nervously. The
project was quite simple; pick a topic, tell a story while combining elements of drama within. Then
her voice filled my ears once again and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Each class the teacher spoke to our group about how excited she was to view our project, and every
couple of weeks she wanted to see our progress and how the script was coming along. Those
questions alone made me dread the performance even more. The words flowed out of me while
writing the script but each sentence I wrote, the idea of having to present them out loud haunted my
thoughts. There was a black rain cloud over my writing and I. One crucial element of the true
impact of the story is that ever since I was younger, I've always had this intense stage fright. That
moment when the spotlight gets casted down on me, everyone's wandering eyes are intentionally
watching my every move, patiently waiting for me to possibly mess up. That's the crucial moment
that has such an impact on my nerves. That's when my palms become uncomfortably clammy and
my breath transforms into an uneven pattern. As I became older, I always thought I'd eventually
grow out of it. I always hoped I'd become comfortable in my own skin enough to express my
thoughts out loud without difficulty and without the pounding of my heart overwhelming me, but
with age my nerves only increased. Writing was something I held onto tightly, concealed deep near
my heart, but now I had to associate it with my worst fear: a judging audience. I felt a small ball of
rage unleash within me because I felt like I was jeopardizing my

Stage fright has been known to take down some of the toughest individuals. It is the reason that
talented musicians and vocalists choose to create sellable products behind the scenes instead of
going on tour. Likewise, worthy talk show hosts interview on the radio instead of signing a contract
with a television station. CEO's create strategic plans for billion dollar companies, yet hire assistants
to present the Power Point Presentation at the company's business meeting because of stage freight.
Is it possible that it is personality or upbringing related? Perhaps it is the lack of training in public
speaking? Whatever the reason is, stage freight should not take the credit for interrupting a desired

Analysis of Ghost Dances
Ghost Dances
In 1973, Christopher Bruce heard about the murders going on in the small villages and towns of
Chile on the orders of the government; just to show off their power, and how they were not afraid to
use it. Bruce found out as a result of a letter received from a widow of a Chilean folk singer who
had been murdered. He was asked to do work for the Chilean Human Rights Committee. The dance
first premiered in 1988, the costume designer being Belinda Scarlett and the music being by
Incantation, playing the song 'Ojos Azules' which is Spanish for 'Blue Eyes'.
In terms of actions and dynamics for this piece, Bruce has used a few elegant balletic movements,
such as arabesque and attitude, to show control and strength of what dominance ... Show more

On the ghost's bodies you can notice different shades of grey, black and white lines all over them.
Scarlett has done this in order to define and contour muscle, to show how strong and powerful the
ghosts are and referring back to off–balance turns, emphasising their biceps and triceps, perhaps to
show that they have gained muscle and strength through all of the murders that they have committed
already.
The accompaniment for 'Ghost Dances' was just the sound of water droplets, to give the impression
that they live within a cave, deep in one of the many Chilean Mountain ranges, such as Cordillera de
Talinay or Cordón Baquedano to suggest that they are hidden, and cannot be found unless they are
out to kill someone.
When the traditional Chilean music starts, we notice the ghosts immediately look USR (Up Stage
Right) which is where the villagers enter from at a later time of the dance and every 10–15 seconds,
they look back, in hope of finding the villagers arriving. Whilst the ghosts are dancing to the
traditional music, they go against the timing of the music, to show ignorance towards the Chilean
culture and no respect for the villagers, for they will be killed soon. Also, the lighting that was used
for the performance was dark at the beginning, to represent a dark cave, and as the ghosts are alone,
the atmosphere is nothing but darkness and despair. But when the ghosts realised that the villagers
were coming, the stage lit up, as if

Personal Narrative : Minutes Of Suspense Essay
Minutes of Suspense
On my way to my high school graduation at Eastern Randolph High School, I had a mixture of
emotions, but then I remembered that I had forgotten the most important item for the day, like
forgetting to study for a test that counts fifty percent of a grade. My graduation cap and tassel were
left in the bag that I bought them in. I called my mom immediately, hoping she could still bring
them to me on time. She would not pick up the phone. I had to let someone know I had a major
problem. Thankfully, there were extra caps and tassels but in exchange of borrowing one, I had to
leave my phone which made me experience the same feeling I have when I have to leave my little
brother with his babysitter and see him cry.
As we all headed outside to the football stadium, tension started to come through my whole body.
My legs felt stiff and my hands felt as if water was running through my fingers. I was not prepared
to walk across the stage. We practiced hundreds of times that morning but, it was just too hot to
concentrate on what we were told to be doing. So much was going through my mind like, "What if I
trip as I walk across the stage?" "Who all from my family is here?" "What am I going to eat
afterwards?" I was starving because I had not eaten since 8:00 that morning. I stepped a foot onto
the track circle and images went through my mind. Drops of sweat ran down my face and I tried not
to look at the audience to keep myself from getting more nervous. As we stepped

Stage fright can be one of the most embarassing occurences for a person trying to be as professional
as possible. Displaying a lack of presentation skills is detrimental in many job areas and can
seriously inhibit a person's integrity. Not only that, but issues with stage fright can be exceptionally
difficult to face. Personally, I have struggled with giving effective speeches for most of my
academic career, and though I have improved, it is still a problem I have not yet fully mastered.
The general tips for overcoming stage fright include a denerous amount of practice to limit the
potential mistakes that can be made. Going to the place where the presentation will be held and
going through the speech can be a great way to practice. Rehearsing

My Stage Fright Speech
"This is Representative Mohan speaking for the first time today. As always, I'm at the leisure of the
chamber, Mr. Speaker, and the judges. Please give me a nod when ready." Saying these words, I
walk up to the front of the room, place my name placard on the lectern, and let out a short breath of
excitement. In my head, I tell myself, "They'll never be ready for this", just enough self–affirmation
to get my anxious–as–usual self amped up before I deliver an impassioned speech in Congressional
debate. Competing in debate since the ninth grade has helped me discover my true fervor for public
speaking – in captivating an audience, separating myself as a leader, and giving a voice to the
people who need it.

In 2015 and 2017, I ran for the offices of Captain of Communications and Vice President,

Speech Teams, respectively. My particular talent with public speaking has given me a certain
credibility that makes me a more competent leader. I hope to spread the message of the true power
behind public speaking to every member of the club/team, and support those who experience the
crippling stage fright as I once did.
Aside from clubs and competition, public speaking has had a very far–reaching impact on my life,
as it encapsulates part of what I aspire to do in the future – giving a voice to the people who need it
the most. In the ninth grade, I co–founded a nonprofit organization known as the Imagine Beyond

efforts to publicize the organization's cause. In 2016, I served as a spokesperson for IBF at the Plano

volunteers could get involved. Discussing the value behind our cause at these meetings made me

Evaluation of a Theatrical Performance
Evaluation of a Theatrical Performance.
Play: Women in Black.
Style: Gran Guignal.
Our drama assessment was to watch the play "Woman in Black" at the Fortune Theatre in London.
The original 1950's play starred Orlando Wells and Michael Mears as the two main and only
characters and directed by Robin Hereford.
Set.
As the curtain raised and the performance began a minimalist set was revealed; stool, chair, basket
and a coat–rack. Initially, the minimalist set predicted that the play would be slow–moving, however
the lack stage furniture actually focused the audience even more on the storyline, as there were few
distractions. This also allowed the actors to effectively include Drama Mediums such as multiple

His body language changed, his accent, his stance and also his prop. Orlando Wells, on the other
hand, only seemed to play two main parts, neither very interesting. He too used emotion in his voice
very clearly as it was believable, however, Mears' performance was more impressive. Another good
aspect of the Characterisation was that they both had multiple roles plus they were narrators. At one
point Michael Mears turned to a narrator very clearly by standing at the front corner of the stage in a
spotlight, he would talk directly to the audience, filling them in on details which could possibly be
misunderstood. I liked this because there were some moments in the play which I didn't quite
understand but Michael Mears explained them all as narrator.
Sequence and Units of Action.
My most memorable moment was when the armchair started rocking , this built up tension in the
audience as nobody knew what was making that noise. Another memorable instance was the
moment when the previously locked door swung open accompanied by an ear–deafening scream.
Everybody jumped back in their seats and it made me laugh because we were all so scared it was
just the shock and emphasis from absolute silence and mystery to a belting scream and a door
banging open which intensified the effect. The most psychologically scary

The Characters Of Marigolds : The Story Of Marigolds
Marigolds have always been her favorite flower. They reminded her of the stages she onced
performed on. Staff members would decorate the stage with summer–bloomed dahlias and bright
sun–colored marigolds, and tie silk ribbons to the bark of trees during celebrations. Crowds were
surrounding her, cheering and watching her gracefully move her body across the stage. The light
hue of her pink hair shined as the sunlight struck her like a spotlight center stage. She wore a pure
white, flowing dancer's garment which allowed her to move the way she wanted to. Her arms would
stretch out as if she was reaching for someone's palm, and her legs move as if they were made of the
wind. Sometimes, there was a special someone; a pair of eyes that could see through the heart of her
dance, Henry stood near the back of the crowd, but he made sure to stay within her vision. Knowing
how timid and bashful she was, he would make sure to always show up to watch her dance
performances. The way she showed confidence on stage amazed him. It was almost as if she was
reborn into a new person with a new personality. Many people, both the villagers and the soldiers,
see Olivia as a klutz, but all he could see was a girl who only needs a little confidence in herself. It
seemed the confidence boost from the dancing came to an end. The strings of the wooden
instruments stopped vibrating, and the beat of the drums had halted their rhythmic patterns. Olivia
stood there frozen, but drew in a breath and bowed

From time to time, people in the world are going to be able to experience two things in there

Reflection : My Chorus As The Chorus In The Middle School
Going into this class, I was not expecting to learn much or enjoy it very much. I expected it to be
like chorus was in middle school when we lip sang and messed around all class. I chose chorus as
my music credit because I didn't expect that I would be so nervous going into the concert. I thought
that I would just cruise through the concert and not have to sing at all. Shortly into the semester, I
realized that this class was for real. I started to learn about all of the singing techniques that I was
never taught about and I began to enjoy singing. As I improved and the year progressed, I was not
bothered by the amount of effort that we had to put in every single white day. I was ready to come in
and work on our songs to perfect them for the upcoming concert. After seeing how I was actually
singing now and enjoying it, I began to get nervous for the concert. I was nervous because I was
now going to showcase what I have been working on for months.
Going into the first rehearsal at the church, I didn't know what to expect. I was curious to see what
would happen when we started to sing in that huge church. I was also curious to see what it would
feel like to be facing the crowd instead of being a part of it. For the past three years, I have gone to
every one of my older sister Olivia's chorus and chamber concerts. As I sat there and watched, I
never really knew how hard it was to stand up there in front of the crowd and try to focus on not
messing up. That was until this year

Othello 's Influence On The World Of Opera
Verdi's Othello has had a profound influence on the world of opera, and considered by many critics
to be his best work. Othello has been performed throughout the world, debuting in over 25 countries
within the first fifty years of its creation (Stanford). It has been performed all over the globe by
world–renowned operettists, in theatres such as the Lincoln Center in New York, the Sydney Opera
House in Sydney, and the Bolshoi in Russia. Othello is about a general who is led to believe his wife
is cheating on him, when in reality she is not, and deceived by Iago, a man he trusted. Othello has
two love duets between the same characters, but with very different moods and relationships, which
are portrayed through the dialogue, the stage actions, and most importantly the musical strategies
employed.
The opera Othello was written by Verdi, one of the most prominent opera writers in the late 1800's.
He was born in 1813 in northern Italy, however, most of his work took place in Milan, Italy. This is
where, on February 5th of 1887, Othello was first performed, at the Teatro alla Scala (Stanford).
Verdi's opera Othello is based off of Shakespeare's play Othello, which was written in 1622. Verdi
based many of his operas off of Shakespeare's plays, such as his opera

Macbeth that was based on
the play Macbeth, first performed in 1847, and his opera Falstaff, based on the play The Merry
Wives of Windsor, first performed in 1893. In Othello, a black Moor general has just returned from

Foreshadowing the Breakdown of Catherine and Eddie's Relationship
Arthur Miller's fascinating tale "A view from the Bridge" was actually based on a true story. He was
researching on Pete Panto, a longshoreman, who was executed for attempting to revolt against his
union. He came across another tale, about a man who had told the immigration bureau about his
relatives. This longshoreman was trying to prevent his niece from marrying one of the brothers. The
man soon disappeared and was rumoured to be killed by one of his brothers.

Glossa Monologue
Standing backstage, the synchronized droning of colliding hands is muffled behind the thick,
crimson curtain. Fear pumps through my 10–year–old body with every pounding heartbeat. The pit
in my stomach enlarging, heavier and more nauseous by the second. My feet stage a rebellion
against my brain 's commands to walk – move – take a step. I was stuck. Cemented behind the
stage, my fingers tremble, shaking the thin papers between my clammy hands. The lyrics of my

I know, sounds crazy right? But, it's true. The only thing that dictates whether you feel fear or
excitement is you. So, before you walk out on that stage I want you to decide – which are you going
to choose? Fear or excitement?"
Sadhguru, a bestselling author and modern day guru, had this to say about fear and why we need to
learn to overcome it:
"Fear is simply because you are not living with life, you are living in your mind. What fear does is it
puts boundaries around you. It is because of fear that you build boundaries all the time. If you put
boundaries and restrict the area of your life, you may be safe but the problem is you are safe even
from life. You are protected from life itself." "And next up... AMBRY NIELSEN!!" My name
echoes around the auditorium sending a shot of adrenaline through me. My dad brings me back to
reality with a gentle hug. "Remember Am, it's your choice: fear or excitement." My numbness thaws
slightly, the pit in my stomach loses some of its weight, and I step out onto the stage.
The word "sing" has many connotations: to produce musical tones by means of the voice, to utter
words in musical tones and with musical inflections and modulations,to make a shrill whining or
whistling sound, to make a cry, to create in or through words a feeling or sense of song. The blaring
alarm wakes my brain with a start. The first thing I notice is the raw aching in my throat. OH NO! A

Fear In Stage Fright By Mark Twain
Everyone in the world has a fear that they might never go away. These fears can vary from sizes,
like afraid of animals, the dark, monsters, and even more. But some people actually conquer their
fears, like a man named Mark Twain. In a speech called "Stage Fright" by Mark Twain, Twain is
afraid of talking in front of an audience, but that soon vanished, and went away. In this speech, the
author explains his fear, and how he felt and experienced it. He also told in his speech that he
overcame it in a certain way. Twain had two fears, and his main one was stage fright, but as the
years went by he took baby steps and slowly reached the level of not being afraid. At a young age,
Mark Twain was invited to talk to a big audience. But he slowly

among the disciplines. The groups will start off at stage one, Forming. The trust and confidence
norm will need to be built among the new teams members in this stage (Gordon, 2013). The roles of
the members need to be defined at this stage. The purpose has already been identified.
Part C: Long Range Plan The long range plan will be for the teams to continue through the stages of
group development. The Storming stage will be the next stage the team will work through. They
will have to work through some disagreements and/or conflicts about their roles, power, and
structure; and build consensus by revisiting the purpose of the team (Gordon, 2013). The Forming
and Storming stages of group development are two of the cornerstones, People and Task, of
effective collaboration (Conzemius and O'Neill, 2002). The team will continue to the Norming stage
where they demonstrate an improved ability to create interdisciplinary instruction, solve problems,
and conflicts that arise in the process. The team will have to make decisions on how they will go
about making connections between disciplines. The leaders at this stage become less directive and
more leaders

Process Essay About Becoming Dorothy Gale
The process to becoming a new character is one that many people do not get the chance to
experience. It starts with the makeup, applied in a dimly–lit dressing room, surrounded by other
actors in the same position. Foundation put on so heavily that the face resembles a just painted wall
and lips stained for weeks after the final performance. Mascara applied thinly at first. Then, darker
and darker so that the people in the back can tell that your eyelashes are there. And in one swift
motion, much like the act of painting, a dollop of crimson red lines the cheekbone in a grand finale.
The makeup is what makes you appear different. It keeps the illusion alive. Becoming Dorothy Gale
(from Kansas) was a simple process, considering my ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I chuckle under my breath at the absurdity of me still having stage fright after all this time. My heart
hums to the sound of the audience's murmur and I sing under my breath, looking for the pitch to
"Somewhere over the Rainbow" when, suddenly, in what seemed like slow motion, the beat is heard
and I walk on stage, no longer myself. Reciting the lines is just the beginning of acting the part. The
emotion conveyed brings the character to life. Dorothy was not just a girl in a movie or a book. She
was living, breathing, growing. She was me, and I was her. This is how theatre was meant to work.
As the performance ended, the reality of what I was losing became very clear to me. I said my last
line, stood in my last position, and bowed together with the wonderful cast I got to share my journey
with. The lights dimmed, the music played in conclusion, and the curtains closed slowly, signifying
the end of a star performance. Once the black curtains hit each other, in a final round of applause,
the cast scattered in joy towards the meet and greet. All the while, hugs and congratulations were
dealt out like a hand of cards.
The happiness those around me felt was not reciprocated by, a now lonely, me. In one instant, I had
lost a part of myself that had grown in the last few months. Once the production ended, I realized
that Dorothy was gone. We were no longer each other. I sat in silence, mourning the loss of a dear
friend, before turning into the hallway to pretend one last

Belmont High Senior Monologue Essay
I am fixing my hair, and humming along to a song I heard on the radio, when I hear the concert
start. I heard the announcements begin and the lights go dim. There was people all around me.
People tripped over cords or called out demands. Some had microscopic mics on their faces, some
had been putting on makeup on.
"Welcome, welcome, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, to our 17th annual Belmont High Senior
Concert!" Our chorus teacher cried.
I was volunteered to sing a solo. Even though the song I was supposed to sing was the third song of
the night, I was shivering with fright. I was shaking so hard that when I was applying my eyeliner, I
accidently did a winged eyeliner instead of the natural looking one. Voices in my head were telling

She started singing the first line of Rue's Lullaby from The Hunger Games Soundtrack.
Deep in the meadow, I joined her.

A bed of grass a soft green pillow
Lay down your head, and close your eyes.
And when they open, the sun will rise.
I closed my eyes as the song said.
Here it 's safe, and here it 's warm.
Here the daisies guard you from every harm.
Here your dreams are sweet, and tomorrow brings them true.
Here is the place where I love you.
I felt my heart steady.
Deep in the meadow, hidden far away.
A cloak of green, a moonbeam ray.
Forget your woes, and let your troubles lay.
And when again it 's morning, they 'll wash away.
Here it 's safe, and here it 's warm.
Here the daisies guard you from every harm.

Patient Education For Patients And The Education
Introduction
Patient Education is dedicated to patients and the education we should be providing as health care
professional on a day–to–day basis. Patient Education is one of more important jobs we do in our
career as nurses. Children with chronic health problems or diseases such as on a pediatric
hematology/oncology unit, require skilled, home–based care by parents, supported by professionals.
However, once patients are discharged, it is evident that there is a continuous need for online
resources to help supplement their learning and the professional support they may have received
during discharge. At this time, existing resources consist on patient/parent education at the bedside,
with supplemental handouts to back up the teaching. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dedicated to serving the specialized medical needs of children, from newborns to adolescents,
diagnosed with cancers such as leukemia, brain tumors, and blood related diseases such as
hemophilia, this 33–bed unit often has a full census with patients waiting to get in. They provide
support for family members as well as care for the unique needs of the oncology patient during all
phases of their illness, diagnosis, treatment, education, and when needed, end of life care. Being that
it is a pediatric unit, most of the education is done by the nurses directly to the parents or care givers
of the children being treated. But often times, the care givers are given educational information
while under extreme stress, still trying to process all the new information and quite often, they have
not come to terms with their child's new diagnosis. Other times, the nurse may be in a hurry, or may
have other challenges that factor into the lack of understanding. Some of those contributing factors
could include; inadequate knowledge or training of the clinicians, inconsistencies in quality of care,
changes in current practice guidelines, limited health literacy skills, conflicts with prior training
implementation challenges, such as language barriers, and lastly, inadequate resources for the care
givers. It was this last contributing factor that it was determined a change needed to take

Overcoming Stage Fright Research Paper
Overcoming stage fright was very difficult. I always hated singing and dancing in front of people.
As a kid I like singing and dancing.I would could find myself when I signing it was amazing to
express my self through my voice. In the beginning I was afraid to sing and dance in front of people.
One day at school there was an announcement that there would be a school play. I got so excited
about it that I rushed to sign up. I realized that I would have to audition and that meant I would have
to sing in front of other people.I bolted to Mr.Llyod's room and asked him what I would need to not
be so afraid. He said to sing in front of my parents,it might make you fell more comfortable
performing for others. After hearing him say that I went home and looked up some more ways to
help overcome my stage fright. So through that period of time I found ways to relax myself with
deep breathing and meditation. I did this a couple of times during the day. Then after doing that I
asked my parents to go the living room so I could sing for them. Before I started, I began breath
very deeply and smoothly .Then someone came in and I got scared again.Soon after that person
left,I started to sing and in that moment my mind went wild.I was thinking they didn't like me

Adam 's Next Act
Adam left the stage and walked purposely towards the table where I was seated, asking if I would
mind if he joined me during the break. I replied no, that I would be flattered if he did so. The
waitress brought him a drink as soon as he was seated. We finally had the chance to properly
introduce ourselves to each other. I told him I was captivated by the brilliant performance that he
gave, asking how often he performed here. He told me that he did so only once per week, usually on
Friday evenings and occasionally would fill in for someone else. We spoke for a few minutes longer
before it was time for him to return to the stage and complete his show. He took my hand, kissed it
and asked if we may perhaps talk more once he was done for the evening. He was a gentleman
indeed! I of course replied yes, as he'd already held my interest; more than I cared to admit.
Adam's next act was magical indeed; it turned out to be a magic act! Adam appeared to be very
multi–talented when it came to entertaining people. He was on stage for another forty–five minutes
before the show came to an end. He'd started out doing The Dancing Handkerchief, moved on to
The Floating Lady, The Linking Ring, Cut and the Restore Rope Trick, plus a few others, including

After decisions were put onto paper the process began and an audition process was requested
requiring a song furthering on with a monologue and text audition taken place the following day, the
cast was decided upon and rehearsals began. I and seven other girls were chosen for the part of the
interns which involved us to be present in two scenes throughout the performance. Due to this not
being a majority, Roger made a decision that they would double up when not on stage as an
ensemble or interrogation and involved in the transmission of set.
After hearing about an interrogation term the process began for my characters, it was suggested that
each ensemble member would wear blacks and a neutral half mask to hide the face, removing their
identity, furthering to represent a collective. After researching into this response, it appeared that the
interns, as ensemble, gave resemblance to a Greek chorus, due to never entering the stage space
unless moving set. A Greek chorus was said to be costumed men that perform in the 'dancing floor',
this being below the stage. In a number of scenes they would observe the piece and comment on the
arrangements of the performers.
The performance was decided as earlier stated to be in the round and therefore the format and
positioning was unusual to each performer, instead of angling the body you would need to
understand the strongest points within the stage when addressing a speech. This allowed for

Choose 2 scenes in Twelfth Night and state how you would direct them.
Discuss some of the challenges you might face in directing the play to a modern audience.
Being one of Shakespeare's best romantic comedies, Twelfth Night has been re–enacted many a
times, be it during Elizabethan times, or in modern times. Although set in the Elizabethan era,
Twelfth Night has its charms. And indeed, it proves to be relevant and intimate to a modern
audience, with its applicable themes and endearing characters.
In directing a play of such mannerism, one would have to consider many factors affecting the

In fact, here, Maria starts to plot against Malvolio, and together this group of friends gang up against
Malvolio, getting back at him for his rudeness towards them. In this scene, it is meant to be light–
hearted and retain its essence of comedy and humour, so as to serve as a contrasting scene to the
previous (which was more serious). Hence, this scene should bring forth and emphasize on the
humour, and at the same time, portray a sense of 'revenge' (a serious matter).
Overall, the setting of this scene would be in Olivia's house. In this scene, I would have one small
part of the stage (left to the audience) to be seen as the outside of Olivia's house, and most of the
other part of the stage (right to the audience), the inside of Olivia's house. On the outside, there
would be a small pathway up to Olivia's backdoor. The pathway would be decorated with
extravagance, for instance, roses. Roses symbolises a beautiful outer appearance, but in actual fact,
has thorns, which threaten at the same while (hidden intentions). There should be a simple plant,
with morning glory creeping up. Morning glory represents beauty that only lasts for an instance. All
these run concurrently with Olivia's personality, and how she is wasting her youth, firstly mourning,
and secondly, wooing
Cesario (in actual fact, a female). Through the backdoor, Sir Toby and Sir Andrew enter into one the

Stage Fright By Mark Twain Analysis
In an essay, compare Mark Twain's view of himself in "Stage Fright" with those we know from
Suzy Clemens in "My Papa, Mark Twain". Is everything we learn about Mark Twain fact, or is some
of what we learn opinion? Which of these views most accurately portrays the real Mark Twain?
"Stage Fright" written by Mark Twain and "My Papa Mark Twain" written by Suzy Clemens,Mark
Twain's daughter provides different perspectives on Mark Twain. In both stories we read about facts
and opinions about Mark Twain. Mark Twain's story and Suzy's story show different perspectives
about different things.
The story "Stage Fright" written by Mark Twain provides Mark Twain's feelings about his first

Twain was a little bit humiliated but he thought he neede to learn this. "Well, after the first
agonizing five minutes, my stage fright left me, never to return" Mark Twain describes the way
stage fright left him(p.106). After the lecture was over, Mark thanks the audience for being nice to
his daughter and him. Not all the things he says is fact, and not all the things he says is opinion. The
way Twain describes his first, and last, time stage fright is in his unique perspective.
The story "My Papa Mark Twain" was written by Suzy Clemens, Mark Twain's daughter and offers
her stories about her father; many of the stories are her opinions of her father based on her love for
father. "He has beautiful gray hair, not any too thick or any too long, but just right; a Roman nose
which greatly improves the beauty of his features; kind of blue eyes and a mustache"(p.96). Not
every body agreed with that, it was just Suzy's opinion. Another thing she informs about her father's
habit of smoking. He smokes a great deal almost incessantly." The true thing is that may have
smoked a lot, but not all will think it is incessantly. Suzy knows from growing up with her dad,
Mark Twain, what he likes and dislike are. One thing he's fond of are cats."Papa is fond of animals
particularly cats"(p.98). This is one of the advantages of Suzy when she is writing about Mark
Twain. She also has a opinion of his books. "One of Papa's latest books is "The Prince and the

She seemed very argumentative and harsh. I didn't see a "softer" side to her personality that I feel
she should have. She walked with her collar up and her head down. She didn't despise Matron as
much as I thought she would and seemed to be the leader of the group. She spoke with a rough
northern accent and seemed less confident than I pictured her to be.
If Queenie was an animal, she would be a snake because she is nasty but can be tamed and she can
relate to the colours of exotic snakes as
Mary says she wears her pregnancy like war paint.
Dolores
Dolores spoke in a high pitched voice while behaving in a childish and naïve manner. When I first
saw her, I thought she was too young to be a good actress but as she began to act I, like many others
in the audience, was proved wrong. She proved hr acting ability when she caught the audience by
surprise when she shouted; "I said 'stop'"!
When she read aloud, she spoke in a slow voice, which made her seem innocent and uneducated but
also made the audience feel sorry for her while providing a humorous edge to the play. If Dolores
were an animal, she would be a deer because she tries to be clever but is clumsy. Norma
Norma is nervous which she portrays by shaking and speaking in a high pitched voice. The audience
could feel the tension she felt and pity her when she was rigid with fright from having the baby.

Strindberg's "The Stronger" Essay
Strindberg's "The Stronger"
In 'The Stronger' Strindberg focuses upon the role and importance of women at the turn of the 20th
century. This is portrayed through a conversation of two women who have different lives and social
statuses. Mrs. X is married and therefore socially stronger. Miss Y is unmarried and rather
poignantly, doesn't speak.
At the turn of the 20th century, women were seen as 2nd class citizens to men. However, this entire
play is set in a women's café where
Strindberg's purpose is to allow the two characters to fully express their feelings rather than be
influenced and controlled by men. Since the play focuses upon the role and importance of marriage
and family, the setting of Christmas is significant. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Strindberg has used this direction to show the audience that Mrs X knows that Miss Y is stronger
through silence. She is trying to fight her strength and get a reaction from her, thus taking away her
power.
Stage directions can also be used to reveal a characters emotion. For example, 'Miss Y glances up
from her paper, nods perfunctually, then goes on reading.' This is the first time in the play that the
characters are together. Strindberg has used this direction to show the audience how Miss Y feels
about Mrs X. She is intimidated by Mrs X and uses the paper as a 'barrier'. She doesn't reciprocate
Mrs Xs greeting and is being defensive. This signals a weakness to the audience and the direction
has been used to reveal a little bit of
Miss Y's personality.
The personalities of the characters can be explored by stage directions. For example, '(With
Malken's pop–gun) Loads it, points it and pops it at Miss Y who looks momentarily startled' Here,
Mrs X is striving for a reaction and attention from Miss Y. She has gone 'too far' and invaded Miss
Y's personal space. Mrs X has used a child's toy to do this and is being childish. Mrs X has lost her
strength.
Strindberg has used this stage direction to show the audience how persistent Mrs X is when seeking
attention from Miss Y.
Strindberg also uses stage directions to help build tension.

the auditions started, I had already become quite nervous and scared. I didn't know if I would

This was because of the nerves I had throughout the three months. Making it past the auditions

Kurt Lewin ( 1947 ) Divides The Change Process Essay
Answer 1.
Kurt Lewin (1947) divides the change process into 3 steps. Unfreezing, Changing and Freezing. It is
a very simple and practical model for understanding the change process. It is widely used and is a
basis for many change models. He widely stages them as follows:
a) Creating the perception that change is needed.
b) Moving towards the new desired level of behavior.
c) Solidifying the new behavior as the norm.
UNFREEZING
Unfreezing raises an initial awareness of the need for change. It is the first step in the change
process. As many people will resist change the goal during unfreezing is to create awareness as to
how the current level is hindering the organization in some way. Old behavior, ways of thinking,
procedures and process followed, Human resource, Organisation structure must be carefully
examined to clarify the people in the organization the need for change to maintain competitive
advantage. The Proprietor needs to convince his people the logic behind change and how it will be
beneficial at Individual and Organisational level. Besides Lewin states that people should be
motivated to accept change
As an owner of Pink Donkey catering Ltd who wants to open his own restaurant and bring major
change in the way business is done, I would emphase on Unfreezing as a first step in change
management process. I would convince them the urgency and necessity for change, as catering
business we were able to reach limited customers but now the demand has increased, my aim is

Jacquelyn was a modest, simple girl from the Bronx, New York. But that 's all she seemed to be.
That 's all she knew she was. Jacquelyn, although known as Jacquelyn on stage, was just the young
girl that performed in the local bars and pubs of the Bronx.
Her mother, Rafaela Oliveira, was a hard headed and strong spoken Brazilian woman. Growing up,
Rafaela wanted to become a famous singer like many of the artists she admired. However, because
she had Jacquelyn so young, Rafaela had to focus on providing food for her and her only child
instead of work to become a star.

Rafaela raised her hand up, insinuating that she did not want to hear it. "If you say that you are, then
you will be. Go out there, and if you mess up–" Rafaela began, but was rudely interrupted by
Jacquie.
"I know, I 'll be singing at Les Inferno for a straight week..." Jacquelyn groaned, knowing that she
was probably going to have to work all week if she didn 't perfect this performance.
Rafaela placed a heavy hand on her hip. "Did you just interrupt me?" Rafaela scoffed, in disbelief at
the disrespect she had just received.
Jacquelyn gulped. She had messed up, big time. Her mother did not tolerate any type of
disrespectful behavior, especially if it was directed at her. "I 'm sorry, I didn 't mean to." Jacquelyn
cringed.
Rafaela had opened her mouth to begin to publicly chastise Jacquelyn, but, fortunately, she was
saved from the embarrassment when a stage manager had called her name to go up on stage.
"Jacquie Oliveira?" The stage manager called with his heavy New York dialect, butchering
Jacquelyn 's name.
Jacquelyn spun on her heel and greeted the stage manage with a sweet smile. She rapidly raised her
hand. "Your on in 60 seconds, grab your mic and stand on that 'X ' right there."

Persuasive Speech : Stage Fright
Stage fright is something that lots of us have struggled through. Whether it was singing, acting,
dancing, being in a recital, or even just a speech, we've all had our moments where we had to do
something in front of others and our self – confidence dropped lower than Death Valley. Whether
you're a person who's completely confident in your capabilities or a complete shutout when it comes
to your talents, like me, here are a few ways that you can try to get used to showing off your skills in
front of a crowd.
Step 1: Take deep breathes beforehand. Most people get jittery and jumpy and it's best that you calm
those nerves beforehand so you're not so shaky when on stage. First, breathe in for 4 seconds
through the nose or mouth. Next, hold that breath for 7 seconds. Last, breathe out for 8 seconds
through either your nose or mouth. Repeat this until you calm down enough to move on to the next
step and until your jitters are gone. If you can hold your breath or breathe out that long, just do the
classic tactic: Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth. Like the first breathing
tactic, repeat this until you're ready for the next step.
Step 2: Fill your head with positive thoughts. Even a small thought can make you back down from a
performance or mess up in the middle of it. You can think these thoughts or you can say them out
loud. And remember, there is a distinctive difference in believing in yourself and bragging. Don't try
and bring people down by talking about how much better you'll be than someone else. Here are
some examples: I can do this! I know that I'll be able to do it! Nothing will stand in my way of
going on that stage and showing those people who I am! Do you get the pattern? Good!
Step 3: As the old saying goes; practice makes perfect. If you're singing or playing an instrument, do
some warmups and run through the song until you get it right. If you dance, run through the
choreography a couple times before going onstage. If you do public speeches, then run through your
speech a few times with the written speech and a few more times without. Do you see the pattern?
Just try to practice as if it was in front of others, and, if you can, get a family member or a friend to
help. If you

Analysis Of The Movie ' Kabuki '
1. Kabuki – Kabuki is a style of Japanese theater that evolved from Noh theater. Noh was slow,
contemplative, and philosophical, and eventually became so refined that it was considered
inaccessible and reserved for the educated upper classes. Kabuki was developed by the rising
middle class as popular entertainment, and included stylized fighting, aerial stunts, exaggerated
makeup and costuming, and physical and verbal comedy.
2. Nixon in China – Nixon in China is an American opera portraying President Nixon's historic visit
to China. The opera pulls influences from the highly stylized Beijing opera performance style, and
portrays the clash of Asian and Western cultures that was manifested in the US' tense relationship
with China prior to Nixon's visit.
3. Center Stage Left – In traditional western theater stages (as opposed to street theater or theater–
in–the–round) this is an area of the stage that is about halfway between the front edge and the back
wall, and to the left (as you are facing the audience) of the middle of the stage.
4. Prop – a prop is any object that the actor can use to assist in conveying motion, meaning, or
energy. Props are representative of the setting in which a play takes place; for example, a water
bottle is representative of the type of technologically and economically advanced society that has
the resources to manufacture it.
5. Kivgiq – the Kivgiq, or "Messenger Feast," is a festival put on by the Northern Boroughs of
Alaska. The festival

This makes sense as readers come understand that the church is made up of living members,
therefore the church itself is a living organism. The life cycle of the church is known as St. John's
Syndrome. McIntosh illustrates this phenomenon by using a bell curve, moving through all the
stages of life. St. John's Syndrome has patterns and characteristics that are easily recognized and
occur at predictable times. McIntosh spends the rest of time in part one introducing the reader to the
various stages of church congregational lifecycle. Readers learn what key characteristics are so that
they are able to analyze their own congregations. McIntosh presents several challenges that must be
overcome as well. Readers also learn how to lead their church congregations during times of growth
to avoid decline, looking for "choice points." McIntosh discusses the different stages of church
growth in part two. The chapter divisions are based on the size of a church: 15 to 200, 200 to 400,
400 to 800, 800 to 1,500, and 1,500 plus. Within each chapter McIntosh provides key characteristics
and key points of transitions. As one move throughout the chapters they come to understand that
things must change if a church is to grow. For example, a small church will have a relational pastor
who does a great job making his congregation feel welcomed, while a larger church needs a pastor
who leads like a manager. As the church grow they will not be able to be as relational

The Importance Of Screen Acting
Screen Acting Assignment.
There are many skills in the performing arts world, and as a professional actor, you will need to
acquire these skills in order to become the best actor you can be.
To start with, it is important that an actor follows the next two professional acting rules. The first
rule is to "punctual." It is important to be punctual, as you may be needed on the set to perform or
rehearse lines before shooting. It could be argued that being punctual is one of the most important
rules an actor should follow, and without punctuality, an actor or performer won't be cast in
performances or hired. Therefore, punctuality is a key skill an actor should learn, with techniques
helping to keep punctuality. For example, setting multiple alarms, or resetting your sleep schedule
have been proven to help people maintain their punctuality.
The second rule is being professional. As an actor, you may be needed to inspire or empower others,
and by not acting professional or being immature, you are letting down your own work, the people
who got you where you are now, but you are also letting down yourself, in the sense that you aren't
living to your full potential. It could be argued that being professional increases the rate of
employability as casting agents will be more impressed with the attitude and behavior the actor is
expressing. Finally, it is important to act professional as you can promote respect, therefore losing
the lack of gender and sexual equality, and reducing the stigma around certain character roles.
You will need to learn about the specific techniques known as technical skills. An example of
technical skills would be stage left and stage right. These skills are the technical name for the sides
of a stage. Actors use this term as they believe it is a more technical and professional than the sides
of a stage. Therefore, the technical terms are skills that should be used on stage as it will make the
actor sound a lot more professional. It could be argued that knowing the technical terms "stage left
and stage right" allow the actor to act in a completely better manner, therefore resulting in acting
and looking more professional. Always remember that stage left and right are from the actor's point

Overcoming Stage Fright Through Drama

  • 1. I Am A Great Day It was a very windy morning the air smelt like rain as the buzzing noise of my alarm clock frazzled me as I awoke. It was 5 a.m. and as I opened up an ice cold cup of macadamia nut coffee, I knew it was going to be a great day. I called my grandmother who had been encouraging me to stay positive and to be the best that I could be. She told me that she loved me then it was time to go. As I got off the telephone and quickly went to freshen up, I began to get my things in order for my pageant. Grabbing my purple, heavy, and rectangular suitcase and my white, sparkly, long gown, I was now out the door. I had built up this anxiety of stage fright when it was not much to be afraid of. In my opinion, this was a winning dress. Within the next twenty minutes, our names were being called. This was the first on–stage practice that we ever did. The stage was not so frightening as one would think. The big bright beams of light blinded me allowing me to feel as if noone was there. The stage became peaceful and relaxed. I began to practice with four inch heels, I noticed that this event was not properly organized. Everything that was dictated was made up as we went along this made me feel confused, but there was no giving up now. Backstage, as I got ready, I listened to my competitors talk about college degrees. I realized that I was the only one who did not have one. My brains began to shake as it was on some kind of carnival ride. "Why didn 't I take school seriously," I asked myself. I looked up as my makeup artist walked into the room nonchalantly. She had the most lovely, black, frilled, studded gem dress on. My heart began to skip a beat when she surprised me with the most stunning pair of earrings. They were gold, heavy, and they sparkled from across the room. As I put on the earrings, the director came into our room with an eager voice saying, "You girls have one hour." My makeup artist was working at the speed of light with three pallets of eye shadows opened, and three different makeup brushes in one hand. She was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Cassidy was walking out of her math class when she heard her friend, Adira, call out her name, "Cassidy, wait up!" She shoved a paper in her face, and as Cassidy scanned over it her eyes went wide. It was a flyer announcing auditions for the school's musical. "Why are you showing me this," Cassidy asks. "You should tryout! With your amazing voice I'm 100% positive you'll get the lead. With only two weeks of experience I had a gig in front of a hundred people. Like many first gigs, the stage plays tricks on you and makes you feel inferior. Stage fright had to go away at some point, so I decided for it to be this Saturday night. Countless of hours put into this one night, I would practice day in and day out. There was something for me to prove. You don't have to be naturally talented and experienced to become successful or to perform at a high level. All it takes is a little self– confidence and hard work. Is two weeks enough for a musician to pick up an instrument and perform? A sunny day in Houston, Texas. Just this morning I have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My heart quickly accelerated and continued to run for its life. I looked at my hands which were beginning to moisture. The thought of performing with little experience struck me down. I was a nervous wreck and I knew that within the next five minutes. I will give it my all or die trying. I patiently waited to be called. A loud thumping noise is heard as I head over to the door and open the door. It was my father. "There is no need to feel nervous. You worked so hard and pushed yourself to prove a point. Although that may be true, you worked so hard not only for success but also for the enjoyment of performing." My dad had turned his back on me and faded away. I stood still thinking about what he has told me. There was a better reason to why I stood up so late and practiced so much. From the beginning, playing an instrument was a wonderful experience. With a confident look and a brighter self–esteem. I was ready to rock n roll! I treasured the moment. I put on my shades and walked across the hall with a determined look. I made my way backstage and was suddenly called to the stage. The spotlight was brighter than the suns ray. I foolishly put my shades back on and take a look around me. Complete silence was around me. Such a quiet, yet eerie atmosphere. Eyes across the stage followed me like a homing missile. • 6. The Importance Of Drama Within The Classroom At the start of the year, all of the smiling classmates bounced in their seat, awaiting the news of the project to be announced. After the bell chimed throughout the hall, the buzzing sounds of laughter and faint voices began to fade, patiently waiting to hear the criteria. As my drama teacher explained the instructions for our final group presentation, all eyes stumbled upon me. One member of each group had to write a script for a story they wanted to tell, and instantly my group chose me. The idea of it all caused my heart to pound, and my eyes glanced around the dirty tiled floor nervously. The words flowed out of me while writing the script but each sentence I wrote, the idea of having to present them out loud haunted my thoughts. There was a black rain cloud over my writing and I. One crucial element of the true impact of the story is that ever since I was younger, I've always had this intense stage fright. That moment when the spotlight gets casted down on me, everyone's wandering eyes are intentionally watching my every move, patiently waiting for me to possibly mess up. That's the crucial moment that has such an impact on my nerves. That's when my palms become uncomfortably clammy and my breath transforms into an uneven pattern. As I became older, I always thought I'd eventually grow out of it. I always hoped I'd become comfortable in my own skin enough to express my thoughts out loud without difficulty and without the pounding of my heart overwhelming me, but with age my nerves only increased. • 8. Analysis of Ghost Dances Ghost Dances In 1973, Christopher Bruce heard about the murders going on in the small villages and towns of Chile on the orders of the government; just to show off their power, and how they were not afraid to use it. Bruce found out as a result of a letter received from a widow of a Chilean folk singer who had been murdered. He was asked to do work for the Chilean Human Rights Committee. The dance first premiered in 1988, the costume designer being Belinda Scarlett and the music being by Incantation, playing the song 'Ojos Azules' which is Spanish for 'Blue Eyes'. Scarlett has done this in order to define and contour muscle, to show how strong and powerful the ghosts are and referring back to off–balance turns, emphasising their biceps and triceps, perhaps to show that they have gained muscle and strength through all of the murders that they have committed already. The accompaniment for 'Ghost Dances' was just the sound of water droplets, to give the impression that they live within a cave, deep in one of the many Chilean Mountain ranges, such as Cordillera de Talinay or Cordón Baquedano to suggest that they are hidden, and cannot be found unless they are out to kill someone. When the traditional Chilean music starts, we notice the ghosts immediately look USR (Up Stage Right) which is where the villagers enter from at a later time of the dance and every 10–15 seconds, they look back, in hope of finding the villagers arriving. Whilst the ghosts are dancing to the traditional music, they go against the timing of the music, to show ignorance towards the Chilean culture and no respect for the villagers, for they will be killed soon. Also, the lighting that was used for the performance was dark at the beginning, to represent a dark cave, and as the ghosts are alone, the atmosphere is nothing but darkness and despair. • 9. Personal Narrative : Minutes Of Suspense Essay Minutes of Suspense On my way to my high school graduation at Eastern Randolph High School, I had a mixture of emotions, but then I remembered that I had forgotten the most important item for the day, like forgetting to study for a test that counts fifty percent of a grade. My graduation cap and tassel were left in the bag that I bought them in. I called my mom immediately, hoping she could still bring them to me on time. She would not pick up the phone. I had to let someone know I had a major problem. Thankfully, there were extra caps and tassels but in exchange of borrowing one, I had to leave my phone which made me experience the same feeling I have when I have to leave my little brother with his babysitter and see him cry. As we all headed outside to the football stadium, tension started to come through my whole body. My legs felt stiff and my hands felt as if water was running through my fingers. I was not prepared to walk across the stage. We practiced hundreds of times that morning but, it was just too hot to concentrate on what we were told to be doing. So much was going through my mind like, "What if I trip as I walk across the stage?" "Who all from my family is here?" "What am I going to eat afterwards?" • 16. Othello 's Influence On The World Of Opera Verdi's Othello has had a profound influence on the world of opera, and considered by many critics to be his best work. Othello has been performed throughout the world, debuting in over 25 countries within the first fifty years of its creation (Stanford). It has been performed all over the globe by world–renowned operettists, in theatres such as the Lincoln Center in New York, the Sydney Opera House in Sydney, and the Bolshoi in Russia. Othello is about a general who is led to believe his wife is cheating on him, when in reality she is not, and deceived by Iago, a man he trusted. Othello has two love duets between the same characters, but with very different moods and relationships, which are portrayed through the dialogue, the stage actions, and most importantly the musical strategies employed. The opera Othello was written by Verdi, one of the most prominent opera writers in the late 1800's. He was born in 1813 in northern Italy, however, most of his work took place in Milan, Italy. This is where, on February 5th of 1887, Othello was first performed, at the Teatro alla Scala (Stanford). Verdi's opera Othello is based off of Shakespeare's play Othello, which was written in 1622. Verdi based many of his operas off of Shakespeare's plays, such as his opera Macbeth that was based on the play Macbeth, first performed in 1847, and his opera Falstaff, based on the play The Merry Wives of Windsor, first performed in 1893. Patient Education For Patients And The Education Introduction Patient Education is dedicated to patients and the education we should be providing as health care professional on a day–to–day basis. Patient Education is one of more important jobs we do in our career as nurses. Children with chronic health problems or diseases such as on a pediatric hematology/oncology unit, require skilled, home–based care by parents, supported by professionals. However, once patients are discharged, it is evident that there is a continuous need for online resources to help supplement their learning and the professional support they may have received during discharge. Being that it is a pediatric unit, most of the education is done by the nurses directly to the parents or care givers of the children being treated. But often times, the care givers are given educational information while under extreme stress, still trying to process all the new information and quite often, they have not come to terms with their child's new diagnosis. Other times, the nurse may be in a hurry, or may have other challenges that factor into the lack of understanding. Some of those contributing factors could include; inadequate knowledge or training of the clinicians, inconsistencies in quality of care, changes in current practice guidelines, limited health literacy skills, conflicts with prior training implementation challenges, such as language barriers, and lastly, inadequate resources for the care givers. I replied no, that I would be flattered if he did so. The waitress brought him a drink as soon as he was seated. We finally had the chance to properly introduce ourselves to each other. I told him I was captivated by the brilliant performance that he gave, asking how often he performed here. He told me that he did so only once per week, usually on Friday evenings and occasionally would fill in for someone else. We spoke for a few minutes longer before it was time for him to return to the stage and complete his show. He took my hand, kissed it and asked if we may perhaps talk more once he was done for the evening. He was a gentleman indeed! I of course replied yes, as he'd already held my interest; more than I cared to admit. Adam's next act was magical indeed; it turned out to be a magic act! Adam appeared to be very multi–talented when it came to entertaining people. He was on stage for another forty–five minutes before the show came to an end. Due to this not being a majority, Roger made a decision that they would double up when not on stage as an ensemble or interrogation and involved in the transmission of set. After hearing about an interrogation term the process began for my characters, it was suggested that each ensemble member would wear blacks and a neutral half mask to hide the face, removing their identity, furthering to represent a collective. After researching into this response, it appeared that the interns, as ensemble, gave resemblance to a Greek chorus, due to never entering the stage space unless moving set. Although set in the Elizabethan era, Twelfth Night has its charms. And indeed, it proves to be relevant and intimate to a modern audience, with its applicable themes and endearing characters. Hence, this scene should bring forth and emphasize on the humour, and at the same time, portray a sense of 'revenge' (a serious matter). Overall, the setting of this scene would be in Olivia's house. I didn't see a "softer" side to her personality that I feel she should have. She walked with her collar up and her head down. She didn't despise Matron as much as I thought she would and seemed to be the leader of the group. She spoke with a rough northern accent and seemed less confident than I pictured her to be. If Queenie was an animal, she would be a snake because she is nasty but can be tamed and she can relate to the colours of exotic snakes as Mary says she wears her pregnancy like war paint. Dolores Dolores spoke in a high pitched voice while behaving in a childish and naïve manner. When I first saw her, I thought she was too young to be a good actress but as she began to act I, like many others in the audience, was proved wrong. She proved hr acting ability when she caught the audience by surprise when she shouted; "I said 'stop'"! When she read aloud, she spoke in a slow voice, which made her seem innocent and uneducated but also made the audience feel sorry for her while providing a humorous edge to the play. If Dolores were an animal, she would be a deer because she tries to be clever but is clumsy. Norma Norma is nervous which she portrays by shaking and speaking in a high pitched voice. The audience could feel the tension she felt and pity her when she was rigid with fright from having the baby.

This is portrayed through a conversation of two women who have different lives and social statuses. Mrs. X is married and therefore socially stronger. Miss Y is unmarried and rather poignantly, doesn't speak. At the turn of the 20th century, women were seen as 2nd class citizens to men. • 38. Kurt Lewin ( 1947 ) Divides The Change Process Essay Answer 1. Kurt Lewin (1947) divides the change process into 3 steps. Unfreezing, Changing and Freezing. It is a very simple and practical model for understanding the change process. It is widely used and is a basis for many change models. He widely stages them as follows: a) Creating the perception that change is needed. b) Moving towards the new desired level of behavior. c) Solidifying the new behavior as the norm. UNFREEZING Unfreezing raises an initial awareness of the need for change. It is the first step in the change process. As many people will resist change the goal during unfreezing is to create awareness as to how the current level is hindering the organization in some way. Old behavior, ways of thinking, procedures and process followed, Human resource, Organisation structure must be carefully examined to clarify the people in the organization the need for change to maintain competitive advantage. The Proprietor needs to convince his people the logic behind change and how it will be beneficial at Individual and Organisational level. • 41. Persuasive Speech : Stage Fright Stage fright is something that lots of us have struggled through. Whether it was singing, acting, dancing, being in a recital, or even just a speech, we've all had our moments where we had to do something in front of others and our self – confidence dropped lower than Death Valley. Whether you're a person who's completely confident in your capabilities or a complete shutout when it comes to your talents, like me, here are a few ways that you can try to get used to showing off your skills in front of a crowd. Step 1: Take deep breathes beforehand. Most people get jittery and jumpy and it's best that you calm those nerves beforehand so you're not so shaky when on stage. First, breathe in for 4 seconds through the nose or mouth. Next, hold that breath for 7 seconds. Last, breathe out for 8 seconds through either your nose or mouth. Repeat this until you calm down enough to move on to the next step and until your jitters are gone. If you can hold your breath or breathe out that long, just do the classic tactic: Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth. Like the first breathing tactic, repeat this until you're ready for the next step. Step 2: Fill your head with positive thoughts. Even a small thought can make you back down from a performance or mess up in the middle of it. You can think these thoughts or you can say them out loud. And remember, there is a distinctive difference in believing in yourself and bragging. Don't try and bring people down by talking about how much better you'll be than someone else. Here are some examples: I can do this! I know that I'll be able to do it! Nothing will stand in my way of going on that stage and showing those people who I am! Do you get the pattern? Good! Step 3: As the old saying goes; practice makes perfect. If you're singing or playing an instrument, do some warmups and run through the song until you get it right. If you dance, run through the choreography a couple times before going onstage. If you do public speeches, then run through your speech a few times with the written speech and a few more times without. Do you see the pattern? Just try to practice as if it was in front of others, and, if you can, get a family member or a friend to help. If you ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 44. The Importance Of Screen Acting Screen Acting Assignment. There are many skills in the performing arts world, and as a professional actor, you will need to acquire these skills in order to become the best actor you can be. To start with, it is important that an actor follows the next two professional acting rules. The first rule is to "punctual." It is important to be punctual, as you may be needed on the set to perform or rehearse lines before shooting. It could be argued that being punctual is one of the most important rules an actor should follow, and without punctuality, an actor or performer won't be cast in performances or hired. Therefore, punctuality is a key skill an actor should learn, with techniques helping to keep punctuality. For example, setting multiple alarms, or resetting your sleep schedule have been proven to help people maintain their punctuality. The second rule is being professional. As an actor, you may be needed to inspire or empower others, and by not acting professional or being immature, you are letting down your own work, the people who got you where you are now, but you are also letting down yourself, in the sense that you aren't living to your full potential. It could be argued that being professional increases the rate of employability as casting agents will be more impressed with the attitude and behavior the actor is expressing. Finally, it is important to act professional as you can promote respect, therefore losing the lack of gender and sexual equality, and reducing the stigma around certain character roles. You will need to learn about the specific techniques known as technical skills. An example of technical skills would be stage left and stage right. These skills are the technical name for the sides of a stage. Actors use this term as they believe it is a more technical and professional than the sides of a stage. Therefore, the technical terms are skills that should be used on stage as it will make the actor sound a lot more professional. It could be argued that knowing the technical terms "stage left and stage right" allow the actor to act in a completely better manner, therefore resulting in acting and looking more professional.
