4. Who Moved My Cheese?
Best-selling 1998 motivational tale by Spencer Johnson.
Cheese represents
happiness and success.
The names of the little
people are taken from the
phrase "hem and haw," a
term for indecisiveness.
Hem is dead set in his
victimized mindset and
dismisses any proposal for
change

The key is to recognize the
increase in opportunity not the
loss of job security

roles and responsibilities of your

Introduction to what we are talking about today
Set the stage for hybrid…it’s not all or nothing
“Whether it's to shift completely to the cloud or stay on-premises and leverage pieces that organizations could never build themselves, companies such as Microsoft and Google are changing organizations into new digital workplaces.”

5 generations – spanning from my grandparents all the way down to kids I babysat in one workforce …
Let’s think about that for a min …
It is just going to continue to being more open and more technology … my daughter who is almost 2 already knows how to swipe through pictures on my iPhone and my son who is 4 already knows how to work YouTube for Kids and find videos of trucks to watch.
Millennials, born with devices in their hand…
Janna
Communication is so important and not just making sure that they receive an email about what is happening. Find the audiences and target the message to them individually.
Janna
Part of this communication is making sure each of those targeted audiences know all of the things that will impact them. Talk about Case for Change presentation and process …

Natasha Myers – HCPF
You need someone who can encompass all of these pieces – someone who really ultimately knows people more than the technology. It is a people person position not just technically …

We all know work can’t look like this even if technology allows it … but this depicts the change that is here and the opportunities that are possible.
Millennials, born with devices in their hands and want to be able to work from anywhere at anytime … cloud computing allows for this flexibility
The days when employees accessed company information from their desks, and only from their desks, are long gone. Within the modern organization, employees are accessing corporate data from a variety of devices and from a variety of locations.
This flexibility can only be made easier by the use of cloud services. Cloud services enable customers IT environments to be dynamic and fluid

Back to finding the right people in your organization … these first-wavers are the people who are ready to run through the maze even if they don’t know what cheese in at the end of it – they are excited and energized by change and spread the word.
Make sure you look and identify these people early on and continue to encourage them and engage them by giving them tasks and responsibilities too. Also don’t just look for your younger Gen Y and Gen z’er look for some Baby Boomers who are first –wavers … they are out there and will help bring along their peers easier than a Gen Z could.
Janna
When we talk about communication plans we do not simply mean sending emails out announcing a new feature. The key to successfully communicating this type of change is to have multiple methods validated that work in your culture. Knowing and having a pulse on your culture is step one – do people all hanging out in the kitchen for lunch break – if so, have signs in there about what changes are happening posted on the fridge. Everyone has to go to the bathroom so post your messages on the stall doors. Make sure that people cannot not see your message.
Email blasts, newsletters, flyers, electronic boards, the list goes on and on.
Have the plan also include target dates for communication to make sure that you have a new message coming out every so often .. Keep it fresh new features you are telling them about always bringing it back to what is in it for them!

Cultivating ‘champions’ for change – some people always looking for new cheese, some don’t mind looking when it suits them, some people will find cheese late in the game, and others will only seek when they absolutely have to
Cloud allows the movers and shakers to seek out new features in a supported environment, rather than seeking out their own solutions
