How effective is the
combination of your main
product and ancillary texts?
For the Main Task and Ancillary Tasks we had to make sure we link all of them
together. So therefore we had to connect Short Film to the Poster and the
Radio Ad. It was more difficult linking it to the Radio Ad as it is in the form of
sound whereas the short film and the poster was much easier as we can
Incorporate some of the stills in our film.

On the Poster we used two main
symbols that are part of the short
film. First is the character at the top
of the poster which was taken from
the film and the bottom of the
poster is the teddy bear. The two of
the pictures only shows the eye of
the characters which puzzles and
can question the audience. But
when the audience has seen the film
they would know what the link
between them two is. Also the
slogan under the title in poster has
the qualities that the film for
example the aesthetics such as the
colour and font.
You can see the correlation between
them as we wanted to give clues and
hints about what the Short Film is
about. So them watching the film
would link the imagery from both of

The combination is good between them
as the poster portrays the Short Film very
well and has strong connections.
With the Radio Ad we wanted it to be a creepy and
mysterious as we had to make it appealing for the
audience. Making it controversial can attract and
make the people listen to it for a longer period.
Again we made the topic of the conversation about
social networking websites can be which links
between the poster and the short film. At one part
of the radio ad we had a Facebook pop up sound
and we also had it on our short film. But on the
other side of things we also included mysterious
creepy music to create that horror effect to the
listeners which again connects to the short film as
we added similar sounding effects. Using
freesound again we chose what effect that was
most effective to the scene which was the same
method with the short film. The Radio AD
complimented the main tasks as it is effective as
selling and portraying short film as we used some
of the similar elements from the short film.
Overall the combination main product and the ancillary task had a effective
connection between them all. It’s almost a theme running through them all.
But as all three were in different forms of media we couldn’t make all
elements have that link to each other. Certain aspects of each task had their
own character to them but at the same time there is that synergy through all
of them. For the Radio Ad we produced that dark sound and plus the
narrators deep low pitched voice create that sent a creepy vibe to the
listeners. On the poster we created that aesthetics that established that it was
a social networking based plot. We also implemented some of the short film
elements to hint parts of the project. For the short film we based our
ancillary tasks of the film as we thought it would have the same effect to the
audience for the rest of them. So the images used in the poster came from the
stills in the film. And for the Radio Ad we used the same Facebook sound
effect from the short film.

  • 1. Melvin Jake Santonil How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?
  • 2. For the Main Task and Ancillary Tasks we had to make sure we link all of them together. So therefore we had to connect Short Film to the Poster and the Radio Ad. It was more difficult linking it to the Radio Ad as it is in the form of sound whereas the short film and the poster was much easier as we can Incorporate some of the stills in our film.   • 3. On the Poster we used two main symbols that are part of the short film. First is the character at the top of the poster which was taken from the film and the bottom of the poster is the teddy bear. The two of the pictures only shows the eye of the characters which puzzles and can question the audience. But when the audience has seen the film they would know what the link between them two is. Also the slogan under the title in poster has the qualities that the film for example the aesthetics such as the colour and font. You can see the correlation between them as we wanted to give clues and hints about what the Short Film is about. So them watching the film would link the imagery from both of Part of the poster. A screenshot of the short film. The combination is good between them as the poster portrays the Short Film very well and has strong connections.
  • 4. With the Radio Ad we wanted it to be a creepy and mysterious as we had to make it appealing for the audience. Making it controversial can attract and make the people listen to it for a longer period. Again we made the topic of the conversation about social networking websites can be which links between the poster and the short film. At one part of the radio ad we had a Facebook pop up sound and we also had it on our short film. But on the other side of things we also included mysterious creepy music to create that horror effect to the listeners which again connects to the short film as we added similar sounding effects. Using freesound again we chose what effect that was most effective to the scene which was the same method with the short film. The Radio AD complimented the main tasks as it is effective as selling and portraying short film as we used some of the similar elements from the short film.
  • 5. Overall the combination main product and the ancillary task had a effective connection between them all. It’s almost a theme running through them all. But as all three were in different forms of media we couldn’t make all elements have that link to each other. Certain aspects of each task had their own character to them but at the same time there is that synergy through all of them. For the Radio Ad we produced that dark sound and plus the narrators deep low pitched voice create that sent a creepy vibe to the listeners. On the poster we created that aesthetics that established that it was a social networking based plot. We also implemented some of the short film elements to hint parts of the project. For the short film we based our ancillary tasks of the film as we thought it would have the same effect to the audience for the rest of them. So the images used in the poster came from the stills in the film. And for the Radio Ad we used the same Facebook sound effect from the short film.
