2. Personal Development, Health and Physical
Education (PDHPE) is one of the six KLA’s in
primary schools.
Teachers often devote more time to other
KLA’s to improve their overall marks in the
Naplan testing.
Teachers need to understand the
importance of PDHPE and devote equal
teaching time to the KLA.
Teaching children how to live a healthy
lifestyle will improve the quality of life for all
students.
3. PDHPE in primary teaches relevant
skills allowing students to be
happy, healthy and productive.
Students aim to understand
themselves and others.
Students make informed decisions
in their life.
Students Develop lifelong
attitudes to physical activity.
4. The PDHPE K-6 syllabus focuses on five
skills that allows students to improve
movement and health outcomes. These
are:
- Communicating
- Interacting
- Decision Making
- Problem Solving
- Moving
5. The PDHPE K-6 syllabus focuses of a range of
topics that fall under eight strands. These topics
and issues can be seen below.
