but he should have good intentions.
The heroes in the past had been brave, heroic and
extraordinary.
Fielding derives away from this tradition and
chooses the common men as heroes of his novels
and portrays them with all their weaknesses,
sexual immorality, etc.
5. Walter Allen who once remarked that “Tom Jones
was a new type of hero; one might say the
unheroic hero”.
Tom is innately good in pursuit of wisdom, which
Tom finally attains in his union with Sophia. His
exuberant nature has now matured to a wise
discernment of virtue.
It’s certainly easier to make good men wise is the
story of a foundling whom nature has endowed
with physical beauty and happy vitality. But the
young Tom did not always act rightly, so that he
seems to be something like an unheoric hero.

incomplete.
They are weather good or bad.
