about technologies from
the process of
constructing?
2. Introduction
During my pre-production, production and post production, it was very important
for me to know the different technologies that were available for me as I would
not been able to complete most of work without it. During this presentation I
shall go through what different types of technologies I have used in all three
productions and also state the advantages and disadvantages of them.
4. Research- YouTube
Before I started thinking about what I would use for my filming and what my
script would be, the first thing I did was go on to YouTube and look at film
openings of the genre I decided to do. This is so that I could grasp an idea of
what I needed to include and what that the audience would be expecting.
YouTube is a video sharing website where anyone can upload any video they like
and anyone can watch any videos they like as well. Anyone can use this website
from small film makers t big companies who are trying to promote their films.
This website was very useful as I found a lot of film opening scenes that were
related to my genre and I was able to grasp an ide o what to do with m film
opening and to structure it. The only disadvantage I had was that I was trying to
look for how directors use their cameras and how they do certain shots but didn’t
many videos of that. Other than that, this was a very good resource to us for my
research.
5. Planning and scheduling- Microsoft word
Microsoft word is a software where you can write up documents such as
coursework, letters and stories and many more. You can use it for many things
and I have chosen to use Microsoft to write up my planning and scheduling . This
involved writing up the script, costume, location, characters and many more and
we were able to use word to plan everything out and then were able to neaten it
up and then write it up on our blogs. Advantages would be that it is very easy to
use and very quick to pick up on how to use it, everything is very clear on where
they are and I was able to do everything and find everything very easily.
Disadvantage would be, if you were trying to put pictures up and upload things
on to word, it is very hard as it is more complicated to do, such as, you would be
able to upload pictures very well but you wouldn't be able to upload a
presentation on to you word document. However, overall Microsoft word was very
good to use for my planning and scheduling.
6. Blogging- Blogger
Throughout all of the stages of production, I was using Blogger which is website
online where I can write and up my blogs and publish them. Blogging is something
that needed to be done continuously as it is needed at every stage of production
and it was very easy to use once I learned how to use it. It is a very good blogging
websites you are able to write anything you would like and are also able to
customize the blog how you would like to as well. Advantages of using blogger
would be that it is easy to use once you have learned to use it and have learnt
where everything is, it is free to use and it is very easy it find your different
blogs on the website once it is published. Disadvantages would be, it is quite had
at first once you are using it as it was a little bit had finding where everything
was and it took me a while to learn where everything was and how to upload
things such as pictures and presentation, however, overall once I had got the hag
of it, it was very good and useful to me.
8. Camera
A camera was one of the most vital equipment needed for our production as
we needed this to use film our film opening itself and without a good, decent
camera it would be quite impossible to get the preproduction planning into
life and get them as real as possible. A camera is a technology that captures
footage of what is happening in the present and will be used to show the film
or footage later on in time. The advantages we had with the camera was that
is was very good as it was clear, we were able to use fine as t was clear where
everything was as we knew how to zoom in and out and stop and pause.
Disadvantages would be that the camera runs out of battery very quick
therefore we had keep stopping to change it and that wasted a bit of time but
overall the camera was very good to use.
9. Tripod- Canon tripod
When we were filming we needed to use a tripod for certain shots and by using a
tripod we were able to get smooth shots as no one was holding it which meant
the camera wasn’t shaking and was very steady. It was really good to use and had
many advantages as we were able to use it for the shots we needed it for and we
were able to raise and lower the camera, we were able to extend and shorten
the legs so it fit in the space we had ad were able to put the camera on the
tripod very steadily as it sat in place without it being wobbly. We didn’t have any
disadvantages with the tripod as we didn’t use it a lot but over all when we used
it, it came in a lot of use.
11. Editing- Adobe premiere pro
For post production, when we were editing we had used the software Adobe
premiere pro and we were able to edit our film as it was easy to use and there
was a lot available. Advantages of this would be that although it costs to use the
software, they give one month free trial which we were able to use to it and
there was a variety of different tools available which were able to use in order to
edit the film. Disadvantage would be it took a while to find out ow to use it and
to find everything as it wasn't clear where all the tools were but overall it was
alright to use once we got the hang of it.
12. Editing- Photoshop
Another software we used for editing was Photoshop and this also was very good
as we were able to use different tools that were available for us in order for us
to edit our film to the best standard. This is a software which is free which a
really good advantage and there re many tools available. There were a lot of
different effects available and it was very easy to use and it very straight
forward as to where everything is, Only disadvantage would be that it takes a
while to upload things and to edit as the software it self is quite slow but other
than that, it is very good and cam in handy.
