This document describes a project to build a personalized spam filter for IITB's email service. The Python-coded filter detects blacklisted and whitelisted keywords in emails to categorize them as spam or not spam and move them to the appropriate folders. It works by processing the HTML data from the user's account after logging in via username and password on the client side. The goal is to automate sorting of emails to make the service less annoying to use by reducing the number of spam emails users see.

2. Introduction
•The project is about making a personalized and customizable
Spam Filter for the IITB GPO Webmail service.
•The spam filter detects certain blacklisted and white-listed
keywords in the mail and moves the mails to appropriate
folders.
•The entire Project is coded in Python.

3. Concepts used
• The project mainly does Content-based spam filtering.
•The python Script gets the HTML data after posting the user
given Username and Password.
•The data is processed on client side and a mail is categorized
into Spam or Non-Spam.
•The mails are then moved into the appropriate folders
on the server side.

4. Why Spam Filter?
•Annoyed by the large number of spam mails in our
GPO account.
•Features like spam filter and auto-categorisation can be
added as plugin to squirrel mail(used by GPO) to make
it more user friendly.

5. Project Details
•The directory which contains the code must contain a file
called "Preferences.txt" which has the LDAP ID and Password
of the user in two separate lines.
•A more personalized white-list and blacklist of keywords
will only enhance the purpose of the Project.
