ALROSA (Russia) September sales of rough and polished
diamonds reached $258.7 million
ALROSA Group sold $258.7 million worth of rough and
polished diamonds. Rough diamond sales by value
amounted to $256.5 million, polished diamond sales―$2.2
million. ALROSA’s total rough and polished diamond sales
in January-September 2019 amounted to $2,422.2 million.
During the nine months of 2019, rough diamonds were sold
for $2,385.4 million, polished diamonds―for $36.8
million.
Executive Commentary
“September sales were higher than sales in the three
previous months. It is partly due to the traditional autumn
market revival after the holiday period and a slight
increase in demand from Indian cutters and polishers
ahead of the Diwali festival. The most noticeably
increased sales of small-size rough diamonds. In
addition, some sales from the August session, which
started later than usual, moved to September. The market
is still facing low demand for rough diamonds, though
there has been a gradual recovery for some categories of
diamonds. We still believe that it will take some time to
get a balance between supply and demand,” commented
on September sales ALROSA Deputy CEO.

Masco Corporation (USA) Announces Signing of Definitive
Agreement to Sell Milgard Windows
Masco Corporation, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of branded home improvement and building
products, has entered into a definitive agreement to sell Milgard Windows and Doors to MI Windows and Doors
for approximately $725 million. The agreement contains customary representations, warranties and covenants.
The closing of the sale is expected to occur during the fourth quarter of 2019, subject to customary closing

Nornickel's (Russia) Polar Division to Acquire Rock Bolting
Equipment
In 2020, the mining facilities of Nornickel’s Polar Division will receive 42 units of Sandvik and Epiroc rock bolting machinery, including 21
self-propelled roof bolters, four fully mechanised cable bolting drill rigs and 17 units of ancillary equipment. The Company will spend RUB 2.5
bn on the acquisition. Epiroc’s cable bolting rigs are a combination of ergonomics, productivity, versatility, safety and mobility. It also allows for
automatic mixing for the cement grout. The machine has 500 kg of dry cement and approximately 775 m of 15.2 mm diameter bolting cable
storage capacity. With a hole diameter range of 51–76 mm and 20 m mechanised drilling hole depth, the device can also be used as a secondary
production drill rig. The mining machinery purchase is planned in accordance with the Concept for Upgrading the Rock Bolting Systems in
Underground Mines, which is aimed at lowering workplace injury rates, eliminating manual labour in unsupported areas of the mine, reducing
the time required to complete a shaft sinking cycle and the mine idling period, as well as cutting the number of self-propelled equipment units
and speeding up the delivery of solution to the production site. All the equipment was constructed in line with the design and technical
specifications developed by engineers of Polar Division with due account for the local mining requirements based on their extensive hands-on
experience of operating similar machines. Nornickel’s Polar Division facilities currently use 19 Sandvik and Epiroc roof bolters.

Polyus (Russia) swapped 20 Billion Rouble Bonds Issue into a
fixed-rate USD facility
PJSC Polyus has entered into cross-currency
swaps with banks to convert 20 billion 10-year
rouble bonds into a fixed-rate USD liability,
following the successful placement on 4 October
2019. The interest rate was set at 3.23%, the lowest
rate across the existing Polyus’ debt portfolio,
excluding convertibles. In line with previous
announcements, the Company plans to use
proceeds for debt refinancing initiatives and other
general corporate purposes.

commented: Polyus’ ability to obtain debt
financing at favorable terms of investment-grade
issuers reflects the strength of our balance sheet
and low risk business model. With such an

Severstal (Russia) reports Q3 2019 operational results
Q3 2019 Group Highlights:
• Hot metal output increased 7% q/q in Q3 2019 to 2.46 mln tonnes (Q2 2019: 2.30 mln tonnes) following short-term maintenance works at BF#1, BF#4 and
BF#5 in the previous quarter. Crude steel production declined 1% to 3.03 mln tonnes (Q2 2019: 3.06 mln tonnes) mainly reflecting a decline in EAF steel output
following the sale of Balakovo mini-mill in July 2019.
• Consolidated steel product sales remained flat q/q at 2.83 mln tonnes in Q3 2019 (Q2 2019: 2.83 mln tonnes). The share of domestic sales remained at
historically high levels of 67% due to their continued attractiveness (Q2 2019: 70%).
• The share of high value-added (HVA) products within the sales portfolio amounted to 45% (Q2 2019: 46%), reflecting a decline in sales of galvanised,
colour-coated and cold-rolled products due to short-term maintenance works at one of the pickling lines. This was offset by higher sales volumes of thick plate
and lower sales of long products.
• Coking coal concentrate sales volumes from Vorkutaugol surged 41% q/q in line with the 42% increase q/q in production of run-of-mine coal.
• Iron ore pellet sales declined 15% to 2.46 mln tonnes (Q2 2019: 2.90 mln tonnes) reflecting higher production of iron ore concentrate at KarelskyOkatysh.
• Iron ore concentrate sales volumes increased 35% to 1.93 mln tonnes (Q2 2019: 1.43 mln tonnes) driven by production volumes growth at KarelskyOkatysh.

On September 22nd, two companies of Baosteel Co., Ltd. and WISCO simultaneously released Consolidation by Merger Report, Baosteel Co.,
Ltd. issued A-share for all share-exchange shareholders of WISCO, consolidated by merger through share exchange with WISCO. Baosteel Co.,
Ltd. was the combining party, i.e. surviving party of this consolidation, and WISCO was the combined party, i.e. non-surviving party of this
consolidation.According to Report, share-exchange price of Baosteel Co., Ltd. and WISCO should set the share transaction average price of
twenty transaction days before the board decision declaration date for deliberation of listed companies on this share-exchange consolidation by
merge issue as market reference price, and set the pricing principle of not lower than 90% of market reference price, the share-exchange pricing
was confirmed as: Baosteel Co., Ltd. 4.60 yuan/share, WISCO 2.58 yuan/share. Share-exchange ratio of WISCO and Baosteel Co., Ltd. was
confirmed as 1:0.56 based on the above-mentioned share-exchange prices, i.e. one share of WISCO could be changed with 0.56 share of Baosteel
Co., Ltd.Meanwhile, Baosteel Co., Ltd. would consolidate by merger with WISCO, the existing all assets, debts, businesses, personnel, contracts,
qualifications and all other rights and obligations of WISCO would be undertaken and inherited by WISCO, and since settlement date, 100%

PAO Severstal has launched its own “Open Innovations” platform (http://innovations.severstal.com/en), designed to complement
the Company’s open innovations initiatives and tools. The site hosts Severstal’s initiatives for cooperating with startups,
innovative teams and industry experts, as well as indicating priority areas for cooperation and specific tasks that need to be
tackled. The Severstal Open Innovations platform includes a section dedicated to the Company’s challenges in its production
units open to assistance. For example, the Company is presently interested in technology for separating metal dust from sand and
a method of indicating designated pedestrian zones that is resistant to abrasion. Innovative companies will be able to offer their
ideas for solving these and other issues, and will have the opportunity to test existing technologies at Severstal's industrial sites.
The Startup Tasks listed in the platform’s Challenges section can also serve as topics for research work. The list of tasks will be

The GET report, developed by ComunidadMujer in Chile with the support of BHP, received the second place for
the “Healthy Women, Healthy Economies” Research Prize awarded by the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation
Forum (APEC). This forum recognized the strength of this research, as well as its contribution to the promotion of
gender equality in education and work in Chile.In addition, the study reviews the experience of these three
generations in four areas: Education, Inactivity, Labor Participation and Income and Pensions. They identified
progress, but also important challenges.The “2018 GET Report: Gender, Education and Work. Advances, contrasts
and challenges of three generations ”focuses on the reality of women and men from three generations in Chile,

Fortescue Metals Group (Fortescue) is proud to be rated as a world leader in corporate sustainability in the annual assessment for the 2019 Dow Jones Sustainability
World Index. Launched in 1999, the Index is regarded as the global benchmark for sustainability and ranks the leading listed sustainability-driven companies based on

Index.Ms Gaines noted the Index rated Fortescue’s performance as particularly strong in the areas of Occupational Health and Safety, Business Conduct, Social

category. The ’DashV1Box - DashBoxes by Mondi: The universal fit for your Dashboard range’ solution, developed for an automotive
manufacturer, was recognized above all for its significantly improved production and material flow, as well as a reduction in its CO2
footprint.Supply chain complexity prompted a major German car producer to seek a universal solution to replace 35 packaging variants
for over 2,000 different SKUs. The DashV1Box introduces a single standard packaging that has reduced processing costs by 31% and
quality complaints by 80%. This sustainable solution uses 100% corrugated material. The unique ergonomics made it difficult to find a
one-fit solution, but DashV1Box recognises that the ends of the dashboards are almost identical. Different component lengths are

for its proactive sustainability approach

Smurfit Kappa has been listed on a new sustainability index that recognises companies active in the reduction of plastic pollution.
The Solactive ISS ESG ‘Beyond Plastic Waste’ Index tracks companies that provide solutions for the reduction, replacement,
reuse and recycling of plastic. The recognition comes less than a year after the industry leader launched its Better Planet
Packaging initiative that seeks to reduce packaging waste and address the challenges of waste and litter that end up in oceans and
landfill. Smurfit Kappa, which is one of 23 companies listed, has a large portfolio of sustainable paper-based packaging solutions
that are a suitable replacement for less recycled materials such as plastic. These include paper-based pizza discs which provide
an environmentally friendly alternative to polystyrene and a Hexacomb packaging solution which cushions fragile products

Stora Enso’s (Finland) 5G technology solution in mill maintenance
receives recognition

Stora Enso has implemented 5G technology to enable high density (HD) 360° camera solutions in their production environment.
On 16 September, this solution was awarded second place in the Industry of Things World Award 2019 – in the category “Best
implementation of IIoT* technology on the shop floor”. The 5G technology enables deployment of applications requiring fast and
powerful wireless connections, such as augmented- and virtual reality applications, as well as real-time 360° camera solutions.
The newly implemented 360° cameras, in Stora Enso’s production environment, are utilised to produce high density (HD) video
streams which can be viewed in real-time and enabling fast, reliable remote monitoring.The 5G connection, in combination with
the 360° video stream, means that all necessary information is easily and visually at the disposal of Stora Enso experts all around
the world. When something unexpected happens, the video stream gives a real-time view and information of the event,
irrespectively of geographical distance.For Stora Enso, this is only the beginning as the 5G technology will also enable other
applications. For future operations, Stora Enso is piloting autonomous vehicles and machines which can be controlled remotely
thanks to the low latency of 5G.

Stora Enso (Finland) top rated in sustainability communications

Stora Enso has received the highest rating for sustainability communications in a study assessing 95 companies listed on the
Nasdaq OMX Stockholm Large Cap Index in Sweden. The study is conducted with the aim to explore and measure publicly
available sustainability communication, as it has been recognized that companies play a key role in enhancing sustainable
development. The report is commissioned by the MistraCenter for Sustainable Markets (MISUM) at the Stockholm School of
Economics. The companies included in the study named “Walking the Talk” are rated based on what they say that they will do
(“talk”), and what they say that they have done (“walk”) with regards to Sustainability/Corporate Responsibility. Stora Enso
achieved the highest total score of 37/40 as one of two companies and received the highest possible score of 20/20 within the
“talk” category. In the “walk” category, Stora Enso achieved the high rating of 17/20.In addition to the MISUM report, Stora
Enso’s Annual report 2018 including the Sustainability report, has been top-ranked by ReportWatch. Our report got the highest
A+ ranking among more than 300 reports globally. The report was, amongst other things, praised for its well-written and

JFE (Japan) Engineering Group Receives Order for Waste Heat Recovery
Boilers in Germany

Standardkessel Baumgarte GmbH, a subsidiary of JFE Engineering Corporation received an order for two heat
recovery steam generators (HRSG) for a new advanced high-efficiency gas and steam turbine power plant which
Evonik is to install in Marl, Germany. At present, German companies are actively involved in efforts to realize
efficient energy use, including introduction of cogeneration systems (CHP). Evonik decided to further promote
efficient energy use by replacing the last coal-fired power plant at Marl Chemical Park with a new combined cycle
power plant. This project will be carried out by Siemens Gas and Power as the general contractor, and as a
subcontractor, SBG will design and construct two heat recovery steam generators. These boilers will generate high
pressure steam and low pressure steam using the exhaust gas generated by gas turbine and an auxiliary firing
system. The steam generated by the boilers will be used in steam turbines to produce electricity and additionally
steam from the boiler is used for process matters in chemical plants at the Marl Chemical Park.

region. The two sides discussed the results of their joint work and outlined areas for further cooperation. The latest meeting was the
27th one for the coordinating council. It was attended by managers and specialists of technical and commercial services at MMK and
TMK, as well as by representatives of TMK's Volga and Northern pipe plants and the Taganrog Metallurgical Plant (TAGMET).The
pipe industry is one of the key segments for MMK's in the domestic market. It accounts for more than a quarter of all MMK sales in
Russia. MMK firmly holds the position of Russia's largest supplier of tackle for the production of welded pipes. Last year, the
Company shipped a total of 3.3 million tonnes of hot rolled steel to the Russian market, about 56% of which went to pipe
manufacturers. In the first half of 2019, deliveries of steel products from MMK to the enterprises of the pipe industry increased by
28% year-on-year. The total volume of deliveries to the industry in the first half of this year reached 1.32 million tonnes, which makes
up 31.4% of MMK's total shipment to the domestic market. Among the consumers of MMK products are all the leading enterprises
of the pipe industry in Russia, for most of whom MMK is one of the main suppliers of steel products.

NLMK Group, a global steelmaker, and Belgian investment fund SOGEPA have signed an agreement on joint
execution of the NLMK Belgium Holdings (NBH) development strategy. NBH comprises the production
companies and service centers of the NLMK Europe Strip Division (NLMK La Louvière, NLMK Strasbourg,
NLMK Manage Steel Center) and two NLMK Europe Plate production companies (NLMK Clabecq, NLMK
Verona). NLMK and SOGEPA each hold a 49% equity stake in NBH. Under the agreement, NLMK and
SOGEPA have decided to invest EUR 100 m each in NBH charter capital between 2019 and 2021. The parties
agreed to continue supporting NBH bank financing via shareholder guarantees on a parity basis. Funds
allocated to NBH will go towards the execution of Strategy 2022 investment projects, aimed at boosting the
production capacity of niche products in both European Divisions. The signed agreement also provides
SOGEPA with a put option to sell NLMK Group 24% of NBH in 2023.

environmental performance across the steel value chain. The China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) invited the
Parties to sign the MOU at its China International Steel and Raw Materials Conference held in Qingdao. The MOU will
enable the formation of a joint working group tasked with identifying a pathway to support the goal of reducing carbon
emissions across the entire steel value chain, which accounts for between seven and nine per cent of the world's carbon
emissions.1 The working group will establish a joint action plan on how to best utilise the Parties' complementary

cans instead of glass, to provide an additional more future-proof packaging solution and removing the plastic.
Smurfit Kappa made recommendations for a 100% recyclable, paper-based solution which eliminated the
requirement for shrink film. The sustainable new pack was also attractively designed and featured an in-built
handle to facilitate easy transportation for the consumer.In the year following the launch of Smurfit Kappa Better

Umicore and LG Chem have concluded a multi-year strategic supply agreement for NMC cathode materials to serve LG Chem’s
needs out of Umicore plants in Poland, Korea and China. The supply agreement takes effect in 2020 and covers a total volume of
125,000 metric tonnes to be delivered over several years. The companies are also entering a technology licensing arrangement
covering fundamental IP rights. This supply agreement will support LG Chem in meeting the growing demand for rechargeable
lithium-ion batteries as car manufacturers are expanding their offering of longer-range electric vehicle models in several regions.
LG Chem will benefit from Umicore’s experience of close to two decades in developing and producing cost-optimized cathode
materials allowing long driving ranges, faster charge and low battery degradation. Most of the volumes covered by this agreement
will be supplied from Umicore’s greenfield facility in Poland. Umicore will be the first company to supply cathode materials to
its global customers with identical quality and performance from its different production plants across regions. The technology
agreement provides for a cross-licensing set-up allowing both companies to further assert their IP leadership. As a result of this
agreement, both companies will share user rights on a selection of fundamental global patents for different high-end NMC
cathode materials used in automotive and energy storage applications.

Dow, in partnership with UPM Biofuels, a producer of advanced biofuels, announces the commercialization of a plastics offering for
the packaging industry made from a bio-based renewable feedstock. Dow is integrating wood-based UPM BioVerno renewable
naphtha – a key raw material used to develop plastics – into its slate of raw materials, creating an alternative source for plastics
production. Dow is using this feedstock to produce bio-based polyethylene (PE) at its production facility in Terneuzen, The
Netherlands, for use in packaging applications such as food packaging to reduce food waste. Following a successful year-long trial
program, Dow is now planning to scale production and address the increasing global demand for renewable plastics.UPM BioVerno
naphtha is produced at UPM’s biorefinery in Lappeenranta, Finland, from crude tall oil, which is a residue of paper pulp production.
Unlike many other alternative renewable feedstocks, no extra land is required for the feedstock production. The feedstock originates
from sustainably managed forests.This process also significantly reduces CO2 emissions, especially by carbon sequestration,
compared to standard fossil derived PE resins[1], and the plastics produced can help brand owners meet their sustainability packaging
goals. The entire supply chain is International Sustainability & Carbon Certification (ISCC) certified, based on mass balance
approach, meaning all steps meet traceability criteria and reduce negative environmental impacts.
