acquisition of Essar Steel
ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel's joint venture, AM/NS India, won the Deal of the Year Award from the S&P Platts 2020 Global Metals
Awards for completing the $5.7 billion acquisition of Essar Steel India Limited last year, a fully integrated steel producer in India that entered
insolvency in 2017.The Deal of the Year award recognizes the challenges, financial results, leadership, scope and strategic vision of asset
buyouts, joint ventures, strategic company alliances or full company mergers or acquisitions, as well as strategic spin-offs that strengthened
organizations. The awards program, hosted by S&P Global Platts, the leading independent provider of information and benchmark prices for
the commodities and energy markets, saw 96 finalists from 23 countries vie for recognition in 15 categories.AM/NS India's acquisition of
Essar Steel India stood out for the Deal of the Year award as it was the largest private-sector transaction to close in India during 2019, and
the second-largest steel transaction globally that year.ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel faced intense competition from other interested parties
in Essar, as well as a multiplicity of legal challenges in India, even at the Supreme Court.The acquisition provides both ArcelorMittal and
Nippon Steel a sizeable entry into the high-growth Indian steel market, where steel consumption is expected to grow on average around 6%
annually over the next 10-15 years. Neither joint venture partner had any production capability in India before the acquisition.

BHPs Local (Australia) Buying Program invests A$500 million with small
businesses
BHP’s Local Buying Program has reached more than A$500 million in
approved spend since its launch in 2012. In that time, the program has worked
with over 1,450 local businesses, on over 36,000 work packages, with an
average payment period of just 13 days. The program makes it easier for small
business owners to competitively bid for supply opportunities through a
streamlined onboarding, procurement and payment process that includes
21-day payment terms or less. Small businesses have greater access to work
opportunities with BHP through a central online directory.The Local Buying
Programs in Queensland and New South Wales are also supported by the Local
Buying Foundation. The Foundation’s role is to support and deliver economic
business programs to help build capacity and capability of regional small
businesses.BHP partner, C-Res, manages the program and administers all
transactional activities, while also providing ongoing support, engagement and
mentoring to registered local suppliers.

BHP President Minerals Australiasaid: “The Local Buying Program has
enabled our small business suppliers to grow and develop their companies
as we have grown ours. It has brought our operations and local small
businesses closer together. It has increased capability across the local

BHP (Australia) to acquire new nickel tenements in Western Australia
BHP has agreed to acquire the Honeymoon Well Nickel Project comprising the
Honeymoon Well development project and a 50 per cent interest in the Albion
Downs North and Jericho exploration joint ventures from MPI Nickel Pty Ltd, a
wholly owned subsidiary of Norilsk Nickel Australian Holdings BV.BHP Nickel
West is currently a 50 per cent shareholder in the Albion Downs North and Jericho
Joint Ventures.The combined tenement package is located in the northern
Goldfields region of Western Australia, approximately 50 kilometres from BHP’s
Mt Keith mine and 100 kilometres from its Leinster concentrator. The package
includes:
• The Wedgetail deposit, which contains a high-grade nickel sulphide resource.
• A high quality disseminated sulphide resource in the style of the Mt Keith and
Yakabindie ore bodies.
• Completion of the agreement is subject to a number of conditions including
government and third-party approvals.

BHP’s Nickel West Asset Presidentsaid: “This is an exciting opportunity to
enhance our world-class nickel resource base in Western Australia. Proximity
to our existing facilities makes us the natural owners of these deposits, and
provides potential options to bring the undeveloped resources to
market.Nickel continues to be an essential input into new technologies that
will improve the battery storage needed for renewables and electric vehicle
manufacturing. Consistent with our strategy to invest in future facing
commodities, this transaction gives us access to explore and develop these
prospective nickel sulphide tenements.”

Norilsk Nickel Will Invest in Small and Medium-Sized Businesses in The
Arctic. With the support of the company, the Aurora family center will open
in Zapolyarny for mothers with young children, and the Folga media school
in Norilsk, where digital courses will be organized for representatives of
small businesses and non-profit organizations, as well as for schoolchildren
and students.Borrowing funds for further development will be received by
the Robo Art School of Robotics and Programming, the vascular
department of the Center for Aesthetic Medicine "Perfection", as well as the
OLYMP Martial Arts and Fitness Center for the opening of a mini-football
hall for children and a choreographic studio in Norilsk. And a guest house
in the village of t. Nickel will eventually be able to provide the guests of the
village with services not only of accommodation, but also of food, as well
as the organization of tourist routes and relaxation in a Russian bath.

Systems in Egypt
Sika has acquired Modern Waterproofing Group, a leading manufacturer of roofing and
waterproofing systems in Egypt. The acquisition supplements and rounds off the product
portfolio of Sika Egypt and offers new opportunities for growth in the Egyptian
construction market. The acquired business generates annual sales of CHF 26
million.Modern Waterproofing is based in Cairo with a production facility in Badr City
which is a logistically ideal location close to Cairo and the New Administrative Capital.
It manufactures solutions for the waterproofing and roofing markets, focusing on a
comprehensive range of modified bitumen membranes. As complementary products, the
company also offers liquid coatings and insulation boards. With its solid reputation as a
high-quality company, Modern Waterproofing has established itself as a market leader
for bituminous membranes. It has reached this position by developing an extensive
product portfolio which provides solutions for each segment of the market, meeting the
needs of applicators and distributors.The acquisition will extend and complete Sika
Egypt’s offering of roofing, waterproofing, and building envelope systems. The
production site will strengthen the local supply chain and the technical know-how as well
as offer the possibility to efficiently serve other African countries.

Zijin Mining (China) to buy Guyana Goldfields for $238 mln
Zijin Mining issued an announcement that the company entered into an arrangement agreement with Guyana Goldfields Inc. The Company,
through a wholly-owned subsidiary established in Canada by Gold Mountains International Mining Company Limited, the Company’
soverseas wholly-owned subsidiary, proposed to acquire all the issued and outstanding common shares of Guyana Goldfields for cash
consideration of CAD$1.85per Target Share. The total consideration for 100% Target Shares under the Acquisition approximately CAD$323
million. After completion of the Acquisition, the Company will own 100% equity interest in Guyana Goldfields.Guyana Goldfields Inc.’s
main assets are 100% interest in the Aurora Gold Mine project (in current production) and 15 separate exploration properties held.According
to the NI 43-101 technical report released by Guyana Goldfields in 2020, Aurora Gold Mine owned retained gold resource reserve volume
of 178 tones, grading 2.7g/t in average, the mine life of the mine is 14 years. Production is expected to turn from open-pit mining to
underground mining in mid-2021. The processing volume of the plant is 7,500 tones/day. The average annual gold production volume
approximately 4.57 tones, of which, the average annual gold production from underground mining from 2022 to 2026 is expected to be
approximately 5.27 tones.

EVRAZ is rolling out a mobile application named Antivirus to promptly alert employees of their possible COVID-19 exposure.
It is based on the “Stopp Corona” application, which was developed jointly by Accenture and the Austrian Red Cross to more
efficiently identify symptoms of the novel coronavirus infection.Antivirus will offer a check list developed by EVRAZ in case of
COVID-19 infection, and general recommendations based on Rospotrebnadzor requirements. The application will be
anonymously exchanging data with other employees’ devices nearby. If an employee suspects that they might have COVID-19,
all of their contacts will be alerted via the app and reminded to self-isolate. This will help break the chain of virus
transmission.Antivirus is being rolled out in Divisions Urals and Siberia and will be available to all staff. To incentivize
downloads, EVRAZ is allocating funds to purchase protective items and antiseptics for medical facilities in the regions where its
production sites are located.

JFE Steel Corporation has completed deployment of noncontact control technology for processing galvanized steel sheets on lines worldwide,
including in the Chiba, Keihin, Kurashiki and Fukuyama areas of Japan and Thailand, Indonesia, China and Mexico overseas. The technology is
now contributing to the production of high-quality galvanized steel sheets on all continuous galvanizing lines operated by the company throughout
the world.On a CGL, the amount of zinc coating on a steel sheet is controlled by drawing the sheet continuously upward through a pot of molten
zinc, and using wiping nozzles to remove excess. For uniform coating, the distance between the wiping nozzles and the steel sheet must be kept
constant, so suppressing sheet vibration or warpage during the process is crucial.JFE Steel’s noncontact controller uses a noncontact displacement
sensor to detect unwanted vibration or warpage, which is then suppressed by controlling the position of the sheet through electromagnetic suction.
Vibration and warpage can be controlled simultaneously because the noncontact controller is adjusted for the specific operational conditions of
each line and the size of the particular sheets being manufactured. Furthermore, the technology achieves the necessary responsiveness and suction
force required to control sheets on the line.JFE Steel first enhanced the performance of its noncontact controller in Japan before deploying the
technology in offshore subsidiaries beginning in 2015.

NLMK (Russia) introduces digital service to boost HSM performance

Solution Description
NLMK Lipetsk, NLMK Group’s flagship facility, has introduced a digital service to optimize the slab rolling rate at its hot strip mill.The
mill rolls slabs into 1.5–16 mm thick hot-rolled strips. Slabs are preheated in five furnaces before being delivered to the rolling mill one
after the other, as directed by the operator. When selecting the rolling rate, the operator is guided by a number of factors, aiming to prevent
slab collisions, to ensure the required temperature level in certain areas depending on the steel grade, and to maximize mill
performance.Previously, the operator would calculate the slab discharge rate manually, having to rely on their intuition and experience.
The new digital system determines the rate automatically. A machine learning-based model analyses slab dimensions, composition, and
heating level, as well as the required finished product parameters and the condition of the mill. The model processes this data to determine
how long it should take a slab to travel from the furnace to the rolling mill, and prompts the operator to discharge the next slab from the
furnace.The project was launched at the end of last year. The digital system has already enabled a 5% reduction in the slab discharge
interval, thus boosting hot strip mill productivity. Company experts continue to train the model to further increase its efficiency.

POSCO (South Korea) Introduces Telecommuting System for Working Parents

POSCO becomes the first Korean company to apply a telecommuting system for working parents.The newly established system enables
working parents to focus on both their work and childcare at the same time, thus, encouraging childbirth and preventing career breaks of
employees. POSCO will receive applications from prospective employees and put the policy into full practice from July.POSCO
employees with children under the age of eight are eligible for the telecommuting system. Depending on employees’ working conditions,
they can apply for full-day or half-day telecommuting.POSCO employees can utilize this system for up to two years, whereas, in the case
of the half-day telecommuting system that adopts the government’s system, the policy is valid for a maximum of two years per child and
combined with parental leave.POSCO is to provide the telecommuting employees with the same salary, welfare, and promotion system
as those working in the offices. The company hopes that this new system will help relieve the worries of employees concerned about
parental leave due to multiple reasons. POSCO plans to expand the telecommuting system to its group companies.

POSCO won the ‘Steel Industry Leadership’ category at the 2020 Global Metals Awards, which was hosted by S&P Global Platts.The award
ceremony was held online this year in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. Initially, the event was scheduled to take place in London with
officials from over 100 organizations, including companies related to the global metal industry, suppliers of raw materials and facilities, trading
companies, and major press media.S&P Global Platts is the world’s largest information provider for the steel, raw materials, and the energy market.
Platts is a division of S&P Global, a global financial service firm that possesses S&P Global Ratings and S&P Dow Jones, which operates the S&P
500 index. Since 2013, Platts has been honoring the Global Metals Awards to companies in the global metals & mining industry for their
accomplishments. The Awards are composed of 15 different categories, including Steel Industry Leadership, Aluminum Industry Leadership, Raw
Materials & Mining Industry Leadership, Breakthrough Solution of the Year, and Corporate Social Responsibility Award.Finalists for the Global

Rio Tinto, Turquoise Hill and the Government of Mongolia have reached an agreement on the preferred domestic power solution for Oyu
Tolgoi that paves the way for the Government to fund and construct a State-Owned Power Plant at Tavan Tolgoi.The agreement, which
is a revision of the Power Source Framework Agreement signed in 2018, states that the Parties will work towards finalizing a Power
Purchase Agreement by the end of March 2021. In addition, the amended PSFA sets a proposed timetable for development, with
construction of the coal-fired power plant set to begin no later, and commissioning within four years thereafter.Oyu Tolgoi currently uses
imported power and both the Government of Mongolia and Oyu Tolgoi have committed to extending the current arrangement to ensure
continued stable power is supplied to the mine and underground project until the State-Owned Power Plant is commissioned and is able
to supply stable, reliable and continuous power.This agreement provides a potential pathway to securing a domestic power supply for the
Oyu Tolgoi mine and underground project for the benefit of all shareholders and the wider community.

Fortescue Metals Group is pleased to announce a joint social funding initiative with its customer POSCO, South Korea’s largest
steel company, to benefit community programs in South Korea and Western Australia.The ‘Go the Extra Mile’ fund was
established by POSCO in July 2019. Under the agreement, the two companies will contribute US$200,000 over two years which
will be used to support selected projects in both countries.In its first year, US$100,000 will be provided to the Jeonnam Human
Resource Development Foundation to support a range of opportunities for young people in the South Jeolla Province of South
Korea, where POSCO’s Gwangyang Steel Works is located, to participate in skills development and educational programs. A

JFE Steel Corporation and Tohoku University’s Institute of Multidisciplinary Research for Advanced Materials announced that they established the Collaborative
Research Laboratory of Advanced Analysis Technology in May to promote R&D on ironmaking and steelmaking processes. The aim is to organically apply the
latest analytical technologies for more advanced steelmaking processes through industrial-academic collaboration between JFE Steel engineers and Tohoku
University researchers.
The Collaborative Research Laboratory’s main initiatives will include:
• Conducting world-class research through industrial-academic collaboration to advance analytical technology for steelmaking processes
• Facilitating steelmaking research and nurturing specialists for next-generation steelmaking
• Contributing to global society by reducing the environmental load of steelmaking through new processes
JFE Steel and Tohoku University concluded an agreement on collaborative partnership in 2017, based on which they have been investigating promising research
themes, notably the reduction of CO2 emissions. To strengthen research on reduced-impact materials processing, Professor Hiroshi Nogami of the Institute of
Multidisciplinary Research for Advanced Materials has been named a professor of the Collaborative Research Laboratory and Principal Researcher Yuji Miki at
JFE Steel has been appointed to the post of visiting professor. In addition, JFE Steel researchers will be assigned to projects as appropriate.

GE Renewable Energy, COBOD and LafargeHolcim announced that they will partner to co-develop wind turbines with optimized 3D
printed concrete bases, reaching record heights up to 200 meters. The three partners will undertake a multi-year collaboration to develop
this innovative solution, which will increase renewable energy production while lowering the Levelized Cost of Energy and optimizing
construction costs. The partners will produce ultimately a wind turbine prototype with a printed pedestal, and a production ready printer
and materials range to scale up production. The first prototype, a 10-meter high tower pedestal, was successfully printed in October 2019
in Copenhagen. By exploring ways to economically develop taller towers that capture stronger winds, the three partners aim to generate
more renewable energy per turbine.Building on the industry-leading expertise of each partner, this collaboration aims to accelerate the
access and use of renewable energy worldwide. GE Renewable Energy will provide expertise related to the design, manufacture and
commercialization of wind turbines, COBOD will focus on the robotics automation and 3D printing and LafargeHolcim will design the
tailor-made concrete material, its processing and application.

Tata Steel has designed and developed quarantine cabins and isolation cabins, to enable key infrastructure that can be used to treat
Covid-19 patients. The newly designed offerings are also a part of Tata Group’s efforts to fight the pandemic.Tata Steel has worked on
engineering the design and supply chain, and is offering this solution through its brand ‘Nest-In’, part of the Services & Solutions
portfolio. This construction solution unit has also leveraged expertise of Tata Steel’s New Materials Business and the Tubes Strategic
Business Unit.Tata Steel is already serving a major order through Nest-In, and is currently in the process of supplying Isolation &
Quarantine cabins for a 550-bed isolation facility. The entire facility, which spans 80,000 square feet, is being set-up in just 60 days.
Another order for quarantine cabins is being serviced in the north-eastern part of India.The present manufacturing facilities can supply up
to 25 quarantine/isolation cabins every week, which can house 125 beds. Tata Steel’s Nest-In has enabled smooth manufacturing and
timely supply of quarantine and isolation cabins across the country. The Company is in discussions with health authorities to explore the
possibility of setting-up Nest-In Covid-19 units across different parts of the country.

In that time, the program has worked with over 1,450 local businesses, on over 36,000 work packages, with an average payment period of just 13 days. The program makes it easier for small business owners to competitively bid for supply opportunities through a streamlined onboarding, procurement and payment process that includes 21-day payment terms or less. The aim is to organically apply the latest analytical technologies for more advanced steelmaking processes through industrial-academic collaboration between JFE Steel engineers and Tohoku University researchers. The newly designed offerings are also a part of Tata Group’s efforts to fight the pandemic.Tata Steel has worked on engineering the design and supply chain, and is offering this solution through its brand ‘Nest-In’, part of the Services & Solutions portfolio. This construction solution unit has also leveraged expertise of Tata Steel’s New Materials Business and the Tubes Strategic Business Unit.Tata Steel is already serving a major order through Nest-In, and is currently in the process of supplying Isolation & Quarantine cabins for a 550-bed isolation facility. The entire facility, which spans 80,000 square feet, is being set-up in just 60 days. Another order for quarantine cabins is being serviced in the north-eastern part of India.The present manufacturing facilities can supply up to 25 quarantine/isolation cabins every week, which can house 125 beds.
