2. To start coming up for a name for the
production company, I went online to see
synonyms for word that I felt linked well to the
genre of horror as well as the psychological
sub-genre. It was very important to me and my
group that we had a name that would
symbolise the meaning of the genre.
3. To help come up with a good
title I used a name generator.
This generator helped create a
lot of ideas and gave us a lot of
inspiration in what would work
well and sound best together.
We came across words such as
‘Karma’, ‘Realm’, ‘Perception’
as well as many others.
With a lot of the words that we
found and liked, we notices
that many of them has already
been used and was created.
4. In the end we went with the word oblivion. What
drew us was how well it linked to the genre of horror.
Throughout my research, I learnt that one thing
people find scary is the fear of the unknown and so it
seemed that it best fitted what we wanted to create.
In addition, we wanted a name that would place them
in that state of confusion and fear and one that makes
them wonder what is it that I don't know.
Ideally we wanted to use the name
‘Oblivion Studios’ as the title of our
production company but noticed that it
exists already so we added the word
‘dark’. Personally what I loved about
the word was the layers of
interpretations it carried. Not
only does it referrer to darkness
as a colour but also as an
emotion and mystery too. I
found that it perfectly embodied
the image of horror as well as
the psychological sub-genre.
Also we then changed ‘studios to
‘productions as it sounded
better.
