The preliminary task focused on using basic camera angles like shot reverse shot and the 180 degree rule to tell a simple story of a fight between two characters. It required writing a script and using dialogue. The opening sequence told a single character's story and did not require dialogue, just instructions. It took influence from other opening sequences to develop the idea. Camera angles were more varied in the preliminary task, while the opening sequence used long shots, mid shots, and close ups to complement the simple story. Both used basic editing in iMovie without complicated shots or fast pacing.

Differences Between Preliminary Task and Opening Sequence
1. 7. HOW IS MY
PRELIMINARY TASK IS
DIFFERENT TO MY
OPENING SEQUENCE?
2. PRELIMINARY TASK
In my Preliminary task we had the main objective of having to focus on certain camera
angles, these included:
-
Match on action
-
Shot reverse shot
-
180 degree shot
For the Preliminary
task I used simple
camera angles and
this made it easy to
understand
convocation as I
used a shot called
over the shoulder.
This made the
convocation flow
and make the
audience follow.
3. OPENING SEQUENCE
For my opening sequence we had to convey a story line, this meant we had to take
influence from other opening sequences to get our idea.
4. CHARACTERS AND SCRIPT
Preliminary task- I used two characters in this task, it was a girl and a boy
and the story line was them getting into a fight and the girl leaving,
because there was dialogue I had to write a script full of dialogue.
Because of having dialogue I had to include shots for the audience to
see the convocation happening.
Opening sequence- In the opening sequence I used only one character, this
was a boy at the age of 13. He was the only character. Because of this I
did not have much to direct compared to the Preliminary task. There
was no dialogue in the Preliminary task which meant that my script did
not contain any convocation, just instructions.
5. EDITING
Preliminary task- in the Preliminary task the editing was simple and only
used IMovie to edit it, it contained simple camera angles which I put
together, and contained no titles that told the audience who or what was
happening in it, besides the end credits. This made the Preliminary task
very simple and contain less information. There was no speed in the
editing as all shots were simple. This included the shot reverse shot
when the door Is closing, this consisted of 2 different shots edited and
put together.
Opening sequence- In the opening sequence, I also didn’t use very
complicated shots. This is because I wanted to make my opening
sequence simple and less complicated as that what was happening in
the scene. It also meant that there was no action taking place which
meant that I didn’t have to do fast pace editing. As it didn’t link into the
the story line of my opening sequence.
6. CAMERA ANGLES
Preliminary task- In this video I used camera angles like; Shot, reverse
shot, match on action, 180 degree rule, over the shoulder shot, mid
shot, long shot, this all were varied throughout the Preliminary task.
Opening sequence- In this opening sequence I used long shots, mid shots,
extreme long shots, and close ups. These shots linked into my opening
sequence as they were simple and went with the story.
