2. 1.In what ways does your media product use, develop or
challenge forms and conventions of real media products? (i.e. of
how did your study of film openings help you to make your
own?)
We based my film opening around the horror
genre. The mise en scene we used a bathroom
mirror in the toilets to symbolise horror. We
created a lot of clichés of horror like screaming
in the bathroom mirror and the lights are
flashing. Looking at other film openings we
understood that composition and camera angles
were important e.g extreme close up used for
intimidatingness
3. 2. How does your media product represent particular social
groups? (i.e. how did you show people according to stereotypes,
creating believable characters and so on
We showed a very stereotypical early 1900s
sexism towards women as the inferior by
making them the victim. Vikki played the
screaming girl so her character shows the
historical inferiorness.
Vikki is a great actress and she portrayed her
character so brilliantly playing the victim
4. 3. What kind of media institution might distribute your media
product and why (i.e. what film company will make your film and
why)
Paramount Pictures would best distribute my
film because Paramount are known to have
distributed horror films like Shutter Island and
Psycho
5. 4. Who would be the audience for your media product (i.e. who
would watch this)
• Horror lovers.
• Anyone who likes jumping out of their seats
so these types of people enjoy horror movies
• Rom-com lovers
• Drama lovers
• Detective fiction lovers
However these types of people don’t
6. 5. How did you attract/address your audience? (i.e. how did you
make sure you’d want them to watch it?)
• We told our audience it was the greatest
horror film ever and as people are so gullible
these days they wanted to watch it.
7. What have you learnt about technologis from the process of
constructing this product? (i.e. how did making this film opening
help you learn about computers, cameras and the internet?)
• I learnt how to keep all scenes on the same
side and taking inspiration from the 180
degree rule.
8. Looking back at your premilinary task (the continuity editing
task), what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it
to full product? (i.e. the premilinary task shows you that film
making is hard- how did develop from there?)
• I’ve learnt how to do the 180 degree rule,
which is important to not confuse the
audience. In order to keep the audience on
track you need to all the angles on the same
side.
