1. Greek Costume<br />Ancient GreeksThe Ancient Greeks wore light and loose clothes because the weather was mostly hot during those times. Long pieces of colourful fabric were used to make the Greek clothes. Most clothes were expensive and so the female slaves and women made clothes.The main clothing for men was a tunic called a chiton; they could also have some linen or a robe resting on one of their shoulder. These were big squares of cloth, held in place by pins at the shoulders and a belt round the waist. They were made from wool in the winter to keep people warm or linen in the summer so that the people can stay cool. Women also wore clothing which was made from big square piece of linen or wool. They used pins in various places to hold it together however unlike the men the dresses always went down to the ankles. Most Greek women would wear a large piece of wool wrapped around them. If it were cold women would wear long wool cloaks or blankets to keep warm. The tunics of the poor were plain and not colourful. Some Greeks would also wear robes. In cold weather, cloaks were worn. Most Greeks went barefoot.
