5. he human future is as limitless as the infinite
Tpossibilities of the expanding universe of a child's
mind. In this budding spacetime, there are no
boundaries nor any impossibilities. To a child's innate

14. Every year 1000+ participants from over 90 schools across
Asia-Pacific over the past two decades embraced the spirit
of the UN charter. They learned the art of diplomacy, public
speaking, lobbying, and crisis response.
The World Scholar's Cup (WSC):
Spread across 34 countries, this prestigious event was first
brought to India by the Ryan Group. This international
event strives to raise the bar in group debate, collaborative
writing, and general knowledge on topics ranging from
literature, science, biotechnology, art, music, and history.
WSC hosted its largest-ever Regional Round in Mumbai,

International Cultural Exchange (ICE):

Please tell us about the saga of GIIS since its inception.
We have come a long way since our inception in 2002.
Back then, GIIS had a small presence at Mount Sophia in
Singapore with a strength of just 48 students. In the last 16
years, we have grown to span seven countries with 22
campuses combined in Singapore, Malaysia, Japan,
Thailand, UAE, Vietnam and India.
Today, we are a leading international school in Pune
offering Indian and International curricula to students from
diverse backgrounds.
We, at GIIS Pune, have steadfastly focused on providing an
extraordinary education to students from all over the world.
In adopting the cultural ideology of "Schools That Learn",

What was your inspiration behind venturing into the
business arena?
In 2002, GIIS opened the first campus in Mount Sophia,
Singapore with 48 students to fulfil the needs of Indians
working overseas in Asia. It was inspirational in itself. We
continued our Asian expansion with two new campuses in
2006, in Malaysia and Japan, the 2nd campus in Singapore,

campus in India in 2007. These new campuses mark a
milestone in Global School's history where it expanded via

We opened a 3rd Singapore campus and expanded into
Vietnam and Malaysia. We continue to expand our presence
in India to meet the rising demand for private schools.
These schools enable returning expatriates to easily transfer

education system is still wearing its old
stereotypical chalk and talk
curriculumistic, exam-centric and
outdated framework which instead of
providing students with a platform to
grow and substantiate their innate

Coming of the International Schools
Breaking this stereotypical outdated

the existing educational model, the

the private sector in the last two

only recall and understand but also analyse and create. For
this, teachers are encouraged to take up continuous

How do you envision your school's operations with the
emerging technology and K-12 education that is
revolutionizing the education industry?
The school is shifting from the conventional form of
learning to the one through exploration, innovation and
creative expression. There has been unprecedented
acceleration in innovation in the education sector during
and post-pandemic. As an educationist, I feel we need to tap
this or perhaps add on to this outcome. We need to
transform the education landscape in order to sustain those
innovations for the times to come.
We have ICT enabled classrooms equipped with smart
boards and projectors. Extensive use of e-learning platforms
such as Olabs, Geogebra, Augmented Reality, Nearpod,
Flipgrid, Mentimeter, AR Loopa, Assembler, Open Door
etc., are encouraged to provide an engaging teaching
experience.
Keeping the K12 system of education in mind, the
scholastic and co-scholastic curriculum has been designed
to maintain the mental maturity of the students.
Assignments are framed to encourage the students to
answer value-based questions stating their views and
opinions. These are followed by a discussion forum, debate,
role play etc. We wish to continue and further improvise
this form of education eventually.
As an experienced professional, what would you like to
advise the budding entrepreneurs willing to venture into
the education niche?
The education sector is very dynamic in nature. If one
wishes to venture into it, the first thing one needs to do is to

be well-read and imbibe a 21 -century education mindset
within oneself.
Patience, I believe, is also a crucial factor here. It takes
years of dedication and faith to carve one's niche. The
pandemic has taught us the essence of adaptability. An
entrepreneur, too, needs to have a dynamic approach and
adapt to the changing needs of the time.
