Vastu Tips for Main Entrance and Compound Walls
The entry point of a residence signifies a lot, serving as the
conduit through which energies continuously enter and exit.
This pivotal gateway requires meticulous upkeep, ensuring
it aligns with the right direction to yield abundant
advantages. As per Vastu Shastra, the primary entryway to a
household holds significance as the family’s access point
and as an energy ingress. Regarded as the “pathway to
success and advancement in life,” the primary gate ideally
faces north, east, or northeast direction.
Auspicious Entrance Directions for Main Gate
The most essential aspect of a home’s entry door is
direction. Let’s look at auspicious entrance directions.
Northeast: Recognized as the most propitious orientation
within a residence, this corner exudes heightened energy
due to its morning sun exposure.
North: Your next favourable choice would be a north-
facing entrance. Alongside elevated energy levels, this
direction attracts substantial fortune for the home’s
inhabitants.
East: East-direction entrances enhance power and festivity.
However, the east direction is not the most favourable; you
must place the entrance as close as possible to the north
side of the wall.
South-east: Should having an entrance on the southern wall
of your residence be your sole choice, ensure it is situated
in the southeast rather than the southwest. South-facing
orientations are generally deemed inauspicious. South
directions are considered inauspicious.
North-west: West-facing entrances bring in plenty of
evening sun and wealth. If you must have an entrance built
on the west side of the home, ensure that it is in the
northwest direction.
Keep in Mind
The absence of a threshold in the house may result in
household money loss. So, a threshold on the main door
should be created, preferably of wooden material, which
helps retain magnetic energy within the house. The platform
must have a height of at least two inches.
Ÿ Avoid using materials such as granite, plastic or marble
for making a threshold.
Ÿ Placing the footprints of goddess Lakshmi on both sides
of the threshold is considered auspicious.
Ÿ Ensure the door opens completely and does not make
any cracking sound, as it can limit opportunities flowing
into the house.
Favourable Material for the Main Door

auspicious for the main entrance.

As per Vastu Shastra, some points that are essential for
creating an auspicious entrance are stated below:
Ÿ They should be built on highly auspicious days and
before the commencement of any residential home in
question.
Ÿ The main door should open toward the left side to the
inside. Any violation of this will obstruct the flow of
energy within the house.
Ÿ The entrance gate should be larger, heavier, and stronger
than the other doors in the house.
Ÿ The main entrance gates should always open in a
clockwise direction and open inwards.
Ÿ Avoid the main door at the centre of any wall.
Ÿ Don’t let the entrance face another home’s entrance.
Ÿ The gates should not make any creaky sound while
opening or closing.
Ÿ Maintain a clutter-free and tidy entrance to improve the
environment.
Ÿ Obstructions such as trees, drain, poles or other walls
before the gates or compound walls is not good.
However, if the obstructions are at a distance twice the
height of the house, the negative effects are nullified.
Ÿ The main gate should never face crossroads roads, as
this leads to a clash of ideas and opinions.
Ÿ There should be no obstructions in the way of the
entrance gate, such as poles, wires, rails, staircase and
big trees.
Ÿ The house’s entrance should not face the temple.
Ÿ The building’s lift should not face the entryway.
Ÿ Avoid automatic closing of main doors.
Ÿ Steer clear of placing any underwater or septic tanks
beneath the main entrance.
Ÿ Avoid placing garbage or a dustbin near the entrance.
Ÿ Avoid slanting, sliding or circular opening entrances.
Ÿ Placing a mirror right in front of the main door is not a
correct practice as it will absorb all the energy.
Ÿ Use soft colours for the front gate, such as white, silver
or wood. Avoid the use of black, red and dark blue
colours.
Accessorizing Main Door
As per Vastu Shastra, accessorizing the main door is
essential for bringing happiness and prosperity.
Ÿ Accessorizing the main door with a swastika or symbol
of Om brings happiness.
Ÿ Decorating the entrance door with bright light brings
happiness and prosperity.
Guidelines for Construction of Boundary walls or
Compound walls.
Ÿ Vastu Shastra has particular regulations and guidelines
for constructing boundary or compound walls.
Ÿ Compound walls should not be taller than the main
house as that can block positive energies. The
compound wall should be slightly thicker and higher
towards the southern and western sides than in the
northern and eastern directions.
Ÿ This will ensure proper blocking of harsh sunrays from
the southwest direction while enabling entry of good
and warm sunrays from the north-eastern direction.
Ÿ Compound walls may be initially built towards the
southwest, while gates may not be positioned towards
the southern or extreme corners.

Vastu Tips for Master Bedroom
The master bedroom is a perfect place for relaxation and
renewal. According to Vastu principles, the placement of
the furniture, colours, and other objects can help the
residents attract wealth and prosperity.
Here are some basic points to get peace and prosperity in
your bedroom.
1. The “South West” corner of the house is the best place
for a master bedroom. This direction represents the Earth
element. As per the basic principle of Vastu Shastra, it is the
region of stability, which can be mental, physical, social,
professional or financial. The south-west direction helps the
head of the family to be stable in life, gives excellent health
and prosperity to the property owner, and increases
longevity. A bedroom in the house’s south-east zone should
be avoided as it may result in quarrels among the married
couple. The bedroom in the northeast may cause health
issues and conception-related problems and hamper growth.
A couple should never occupy the north-west bedroom as
they face relationship issues.

17. 2. According to Vastu experts, the master bedroom’s
sleeping position should be either south or west. The bed
should be placed against the wall in the south or the west so
that your legs point towards the north or the east when you
lie down. Steer clear of situating your bed in the room’s
corner, as this hinders the smooth flow of positive energy.
According to Vastu, the bed should be placed towards the
centre section of the wall so that there is adequate room to
walk around.
3. As per Vastu principles, the optimal sleeping direction is
towards the south, which is considered the ideal position for
a restful night’s sleep. Additionally, positioning yourself
with your feet towards the north is believed to bring good
luck and fortune. Alternatively, you can point your feet east,
boosting your fortune and recognition. Sleeping with your
legs in a southerly direction will prevent you from getting a
good night’s sleep. The Lord of Death can be found in the
southern direction, which should be avoided. It may also
result in mental diseases.
4. The bed should made of wood. The wrought iron beds
should be avoided as negative vibrations are produced by
metal. Your bed should always have a headrest. A bed with
an uneven shape, such as a circular or oval shape, should be
avoided. In this case, a square or rectangular-shaped bed is
ideal.
A couple should sleep on one mattress rather than two to
promote intimacy.
5. Vastu for the master bedroom suggests that the heavy
objects, such as almirahs and cupboards, be placed in either
West, Southwest, or South direction.
6. It’s advisable to refrain from using electronic devices in
the bedroom. Television should not be kept in the bedroom.
If you really must have one, ensure it is kept safe from your
bed. Computers and cell phones are high-electro-stress
instruments, and the frequencies from cell phones,
computers, and televisions generate dangerous radiation,

causing restlessness and anxiety. Steer clear of placing a
mirror in front of your bed, as per Vastu guidelines, as it’s
considered unlucky to have the reflection of one’s sleeping

every husband-wife must follow, are discussed below:
1. The first and most important Vastu tip for bedrooms is
that a couple’s bedroom should be located in the northwest
or southwest direction of the house, as these two directions
improve the love among the partners. If the couple is the
master of the house and is the breadwinner of the family,
then the bedroom should be in the southwest direction.
Having a bedroom in this direction helps enhance love and
romance as it represents an earth element. If the couple is
newlywed and living with elder brother/working parents,
the bedroom should be in the northwest. Married couples
should avoid the northeast bedroom, as it affects health.
Avoid the South-east corner of the couple’s bedroom as it

considered auspicious. The idols in your Pooja room should
not be over nine inches or under two inches. The feet of the
idols should be at chest level while praying. Avoid
positioning the idol or picture of God facing towards the
north, as it causes the worshiper to face towards the south.
The setting should be such that the face of God must be
towards the west, and the face of the worshipper should be
towards the east.
5. While placing the idol of Lord Ganesha, make sure that it
is on the right of the Goddess Lakshmi’s idol. You should
always have the idols that are in a sitting position and keep
them on an elevated platform or chowki. In the Pooja room,
