A tsunami is a series of huge waves caused by earthquakes or volcanic eruptions under the sea. While tsunamis appear to be only 3 feet tall in water, they can travel very quickly at over 600 mph and destroy entire coastal cities when they make landfall. The size and speed of tsunamis makes them extremely dangerous when they hit land.
