• About gastritis due to personal issues
• This is a disease where there is permanent increased
synthesis of hydrochloric acid in the stomach
• The main symptom is heartburn and no pleasure when
eating acidic foods
• It may have a special interest in the United States,
where industrialized foods often are acidic

• I attended to Juvenile Diabetes Awareness Walk for a
Cure, organized by Juvenile Diabetes Research
Foundation
• It took place on October 18th, 2014 from 9-11 AM

13. SERVICE LEARNING EXPERIENCE
• It took place at Student Health Center (SHC) of
Student Health Services (SHS) of SIU
• I leaded mainly with sexually transmitted diseases
• I made kits with condoms and lubricants
• I attended to an event of The Greeks

15. MY INSERTION
• Sarah Steinkamp, Wellness Coordinator of SHS, with
some other volunteers
• Some advices were given to us:
• Medical confidence;
• Seriousness;
• “Normal” clothes.

16. HOW OFTEN?
• I had 4 occasions to show my work: in the beginning
and in the end on October
• I got a throat infection in the middle of October
• In total, I spent more than 9 hours volunteering there

17. HARD DATA
• The average age of undergraduate students at SIU is
23 years-old*
• In the United States, the first sexual contact happens
at 16.9 years-old**
