2. introduction
• Contraception is an important intervention to reduce unwantes pregnancy
and promote healthy and better living among women.
The benefits of family planning have becomem increasingly recognized
worldwide, including improved health, economic, and social outcomes for
women and families s, as well as public health, economic, and environmental
benefits at the population level
India was the first country in the world to launch family planning program in

3. Aims and objectives
• To study awareness, acceptance and preferred method of contraception
• To identify the cause of rejection of contraceptive methods
Objectives
To check the awareness about contraception
To check the practise of knowledge of methods of contraception
4. methodology
• This is a cross sectional study questionnaire based study carried out in the
department of obstetrics and gynecology of RSDKS Government medical college,
Ambikapur
• a total of 100 women were enrolled in the study.
• All the women were briefed about the study
• They were interviewed on a pre designed questionnaire
• The questionnaire elicited information regarding theirage,educational status,
awareness and practice of methods of contraception

• Among the 100 women in the study group, aged 15- 45 years, more than 62%
women were in the ge group 21-30 years,
• About 60% women lived in rural set up
• Almost all were married about 95%
• It was observed that awareness was highest in the age group 21-30 years, about 84%
• The source of knowledge included health worker 62%, mass media 25%,family

21. conclusion
• It was observed that there is a lack of awareness of contraception in women
in the age group 15-45 years.
