order to motivate and encourage the competitive spirit among sportspersons in Coastal areas in Tamil

STATE LEVEL HOCKEY LEAGUE COMPETITION

2. Objectives of the Scheme To promote the National Game of Hockey, SDAT conducts State Level league competitions.

COMPETITIONS UNDER KHELO INDIA
The Government of India scheme of Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan (RGKA) competitions has been changed from this year onwards in the name of “Khelo India”. The
Khelo India competitions will be conducted in Block, District, State and National Level.
The competitions will be conducted in three age groups – viz. (i) Sub Junior (ii) Junior and (iii) Senior in Block, District, State and National Level.
In addition that competitions will be conducted for veterans (age group of 40 plus) at District and State level.
Govt. of India will sanction 100% grant for the conduct of Khelo India competitions in the above categories.
VILLAGE GAMES – PHASE I AND II

DAY BOARDERS SCHEME

3. Objectives of the Scheme To provide special coaching to the best talented boys and girls in the District in a particular discipline
which is popular in that area and facilitated to admit into SDAT’s Special Academies and to bring them
to higher level.
Scheme is Implemented in 5- Districts.
Scheme duration – 5 Months (25 Days in a month @ 5 Days per Week)
Beneficiaries per District- 20 Nos.
Sports Disciplines- 5 Nos.
4. Nature of assistance a) Providing supplementary food @ Rs.30/- per day / per Trainee during camp period.
b) Conveyance allowance @ Rs. 20/- per day / Per Trainee during camp period.
c) Uniform @ Rs.1500 /- per head.
d) Sports Equipments
e) Grant for participating in Tournaments.
f) Free Medical aid.

WEEK END COACHING CAMP

3. Objectives of the Scheme To identify the talents from the other part of the Districts to provide systematic coaching for 8
months (i.e. Per month – 4- Weeks; Per Week- 2½ Days- Totally for 80 Days in 8 Month
period). The best among them will be admitted into SDAT Special Acadedmies for special
coaching in their specific sports field.

3. Objectives of the Scheme The Education District level (5-Days) Non- Residential Coaching Camp is being conducted for the students from the
World Beaters Talent Spotting Scheme who have secured below 8 marks and not able to enroll in the Specialised
Academies of SDAT. Main objective is to provide basic sports skills to the players through sports experts and qualified
coaches and motivate them to select a sport discipline in the near future.
4. Nature of assistance Providing refreshment to Children during the Camp period.
Basic sports skills and techniques are imparted through qualified Coaches and Sports Experts.

The SDAT will conduct the Psychological Workshop utilizing the services of experts in the field
The SDAT shall approach nutritionist to form a team to assist the Champions in planning a proper diet .
All Champions shall be subjected to regular check up by a sports medicine expert or team
All the Champions shall be given free access to the facilities in SDAT during all working hours. This will include library
facility at the head office, Swimming Pools, Gym facilities, All Stadia etc.
In cases, immediate assistance will be provided for boarding and Lodging while competing/ training in abroad.

SPECIALIZED SPORTS ACADEMIES
Non-residential sports academies are prevailing all over the world. Government has set up specialized academies in several places in Tamil Nadu. The students who
score 10, 9 and 8 marks out of 10 in the battery of tests conducted under the World Beaters Talent Spotting Scheme are called for and are selected after conducting selection
trials by the experts and they are inducted into these specialized academies based on their ability and talents. They are imparted scientific training by experienced coaches and
international players in the concerned disciplines. The Government has sanctioned a sum of Rs.80.00 lakhs for the conduct of the coaching camps in these academies.

SPORTS HOSTELS
Till 2011-2012, only 12 Sports Hostels were functioning under the control of Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu in Madurai, Tirunelveli, Chennai(3),
Krishnagiri, Tiruvannamalai, Namakkal, Trichy, Erode(2) and Cuddalore(NLC) with a total strength of 860 students.
As per the announcement made by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu for establishing sports hostels in all the districts in a phased manner, in Phase-I, 5 new
sports hostels were established at Coimbatore, Cuddalore, Dindigul, Thanjavur and Kanyakumari (Nagercoil). In Phase-II, 6 new Hostels were established at Namakkal,
Ariyalur, Perambalur, Sivagangai, Tuticorin and Theni with an intake strength of 60 students per hostel. In Phase-III, 5 new Sports Hostels have been established in
Ramanathapuram, The Nilgiris, Villupuram, Pudukkottai and Dharmapuri with an intake strength of 60 students per hostel. As many as 2060 students have been admitted in
the above 28 sports hostels during 2015-16. Healthy dietary charge of Rs.250/- per head per day is being given to boost the nutritional value of food served in the sports
hostels. Food is provided to the inmates as per the nutritionist’s advice.
At present, dietary charges of Rs.250/- is allotted per student per day for 320 days per annum. In addition to this, a sum of Rs.1800/- for Uniform, a sum of Rs.400/-
for purchase of sports materials and a sum of Rs.300/- for service charges per student per annum are also provided.

  • 18. COMPETITIONS UNDER KHELO INDIA The Government of India scheme of Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan (RGKA) competitions has been changed from this year onwards in the name of “Khelo India”. The Khelo India competitions will be conducted in Block, District, State and National Level. The competitions will be conducted in three age groups – viz. (i) Sub Junior (ii) Junior and (iii) Senior in Block, District, State and National Level. In addition that competitions will be conducted for veterans (age group of 40 plus) at District and State level. Govt. of India will sanction 100% grant for the conduct of Khelo India competitions in the above categories. VILLAGE GAMES – PHASE I AND II 1. Name of the Scheme Village Games. 2. Objectives of the Scheme To develop the interest of sports among the Village people in every Village Panchayat, sports competitions are conducted for Men and Women in all 12,524 Village Panchayats in Tamil Nadu. 4. Objectives of the Scheme To provide special coaching to the best talented boys and girls in the District in a particular discipline which is popular in that area and facilitated to admit into SDAT’s Special Academies and to bring them to higher level. Scheme is Implemented in 5- Districts. Scheme duration – 5 Months (25 Days in a month @ 5 Days per Week) Beneficiaries per District- 20 Nos. Sports Disciplines- 5 Nos. 4. Nature of assistance a) Providing supplementary food @ Rs.30/- per day / per Trainee during camp period. b) Conveyance allowance @ Rs. 20/- per day / Per Trainee during camp period. c) Uniform @ Rs.1500 /- per head. d) Sports Equipments e) Grant for participating in Tournaments. f) Free Medical aid.   • 36. SPECIALIZED SPORTS ACADEMIES Non-residential sports academies are prevailing all over the world. Government has set up specialized academies in several places in Tamil Nadu. The students who score 10, 9 and 8 marks out of 10 in the battery of tests conducted under the World Beaters Talent Spotting Scheme are called for and are selected after conducting selection trials by the experts and they are inducted into these specialized academies based on their ability and talents. They are imparted scientific training by experienced coaches and international players in the concerned disciplines. SPORTS HOSTELS Till 2011-2012, only 12 Sports Hostels were functioning under the control of Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu in Madurai, Tirunelveli, Chennai(3), Krishnagiri, Tiruvannamalai, Namakkal, Trichy, Erode(2) and Cuddalore(NLC) with a total strength of 860 students. As per the announcement made by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu for establishing sports hostels in all the districts in a phased manner, in Phase-I, 5 new sports hostels were established at Coimbatore, Cuddalore, Dindigul, Thanjavur and Kanyakumari (Nagercoil). In Phase-II, 6 new Hostels were established at Namakkal, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Sivagangai, Tuticorin and Theni with an intake strength of 60 students per hostel. In Phase-III, 5 new Sports Hostels have been established in Ramanathapuram, The Nilgiris, Villupuram, Pudukkottai and Dharmapuri with an intake strength of 60 students per hostel. As many as 2060 students have been admitted in the above 28 sports hostels during 2015-16. Healthy dietary charge of Rs.250/- per head per day is being given to boost the nutritional value of food served in the sports hostels. Food is provided to the inmates as per the nutritionist’s advice. At present, dietary charges of Rs.250/- is allotted per student per day for 320 days per annum. In addition to this, a sum of Rs.1800/- for Uniform, a sum of Rs.400/- for purchase of sports materials and a sum of Rs.300/- for service charges per student per annum are also provided.
