5. Definition of Distance Learning
Three types of Distance Learning ESL -
Independent Home Study – students watch videos and finish workbook lessons at home then
meet with a teacher or tutor face to face weekly for about 30 minutes for review, preview and
unit assessment.
Blended – students are enrolled in face to face traditional ESL class and also enrolled in DL ESL
Independent Home Study program.
Hybrid – students watch videos and finish workbook lessons at home then come to class once
a week for a group instruction and weekly unit assessment.
