This document provides instructions for a photography assignment on light trails. Students are asked to research a light trails photographer by finding information on their background, area of interest, and what they are known for. They then analyze two images by the photographer, considering elements like color, line, form, tone, and texture. Finally, students will plan and produce their own light trail photograph.

You need to research a light trails photographer.
You need to consider:
• Who they are and where are they from?
• When did they become involved in
photography?
• What is their area of interest in photography?
• What inspired their interest in photography?
• What are they well known for in photography?

Task 2 – Image analysis
Select two different images the artist has produced and analyse the images.
Then start to think about the following:
• Colour – the use of colour in the image.
• Line – what lines are there, are they actual or implied?
• Form – the composition and framing of the image – the rule of thirds.
• Tone – the use of light and shadow and what it conveys.
• Texture – what is being photographed and how would it feel? consider the
difference between a metal object and a tree for instance.

Plan and produce your own light trail or light
art photograph.
You should look at creating light trails and
light writing which could then be used within
other images you have taken.
