A02 Micro-Analysis - Overview
The micro-analysis of the scene will be based upon a selected ļ¬ve minute
extract, which you should state the start and ļ¬nish time of your scene (20:00 -
25:00). When analysing this scene you will be focusing on the use of
cinematography and the mise-en-scene and what meaning these elements
create for the audience? ONLY focus on these two elements when
completing your analysis.
The analysis should be between 500 ā€“ 750 words.
Below are some keys areas to consider for each of the micro elements:
Cinematography
ā€¢ What is the camera shot? W/S, M/S, C/U, BC/U, OS, P.O.V, 2 shot, Cutaway.
ā€¢ What is the position of the camera and what is it conveying? high angle, low angle,
aerial shot, on eyeline.
ā€¢ How and why is the camera moving? Tracking, jib, steadicam, hand-held, trombone,
arc.
Mise-en-scene
Consider how these elements are represented and how they change
between the grid and the real world?
Location, costume (for both of these consider the use of colour and what it
suggests), props, lighting, character movement.
NOTES
This booklet will form the background material that is required to complete
this task.
Your assessment will be completed in class but you will receive frequent
feedback throughout the controlled assessment to complete your task and
improve your work and grade.

Introduction to Tron Legacy
The ļ¬lm is a sequel to the 1982 ļ¬lm Tron. The story
follows the son of the original ļ¬lmā€™s character Flynn trying
to ļ¬nd his father who has been missing for twenty years
years being digitally transferred to the grid (an online
world). At this point in the ļ¬lm - he has been given a tip to
where Flynn is, so he heads back home to his fatherā€™s

There are several ways that you can complete this task, you could analyse
the mise-en-scene throughout with some consideration of comparison at the
end. However what this booklet will do is because we have already broken

Costume
The costume a character wears will often give a lot of information to the
audience of who and what stereotype this character is, consider the use of
colour and what this is conveying to the audience. To achieve this, compare
the Guard and Sam in the arrest sequence in the Grid scene, what do the
outļ¬ts convey about them and how are they different.

You will now complete the micro analysis essay using the information you
have identiļ¬ed throughout this booklet.

A02 Micro-Analysis - Overview The micro-analysis of the scene will be based upon a selected ļ¬ve minute extract, which you should state the start and ļ¬nish time of your scene (20:00 - 25:00). When analysing this scene you will be focusing on the use of cinematography and the mise-en-scene and what meaning these elements create for the audience? ONLY focus on these two elements when completing your analysis. The analysis should be between 500 ā€“ 750 words. Below are some keys areas to consider for each of the micro elements: Cinematography ā€¢ What is the camera shot? W/S, M/S, C/U, BC/U, OS, P.O.V, 2 shot, Cutaway. ā€¢ What is the position of the camera and what is it conveying? high angle, low angle, aerial shot, on eyeline. ā€¢ How and why is the camera moving? Tracking, jib, steadicam, hand-held, trombone, arc. Mise-en-scene Consider how these elements are represented and how they change between the grid and the real world? Location, costume (for both of these consider the use of colour and what it suggests), props, lighting, character movement. NOTES This booklet will form the background material that is required to complete this task.   • 3. Introduction to Tron Legacy The ļ¬lm is a sequel to the 1982 ļ¬lm Tron. The story follows the son of the original ļ¬lmā€™s character Flynn trying to ļ¬nd his father who has been missing for twenty years years being digitally transferred to the grid (an online world).
