2. What is it?
Yeast Infection: Yeast means fungus and the infection is when the fungus
begins to multiply in the vagina and it makes you feel uncomfortable
and itchy.
Toxic Shock: A systematic illness (effects the entire body) that can attack
your vital organs. It can be caused by wearing a tampon for too long.
Trichomoniasis: A single-celled parasite that travels from one person’s
sex organs to another’s during sexual intercourse. Affects both men
and women but it’s worse for women making them feel itchy and have
a smelly discharge.
3. What are the symptoms
Yeast Infection: Itchiness and irritation.
Toxic Shock: High fevers, Lightheadedness, confusion,
and kidney failure.
Trichomoniasis: For men, the penis is chaffy and has dry
itchy skin. For women, the vagina releases a smelly,
frothy discharge.

Yeast Infection: antibiotics prescribed for acne, birth
control methods, pregnancy, menstruation, and tight

syndrome: Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus

Trichomonaisis: It is caused by a tiny, single-celled
parasite called Trichomonas vaginalis, which travels
from one person’s sex organs to another during
sexual intercourse or through exchange of sexual

Yeast infection: To prevent don’t have sex. Duh!

Toxic Shock: Don’t use tampons.
Trichomonaisis: Don’t have sex.
6. How do you treat it?
Yeast infection: Esophageal involvement often results in difficult or
painful swallowing (Hawley).
Toxic shock: Because of the severity of the illness, almost all
patients with toxic shock syndrome require hospitalization.
Intravenous fluids and other medications are administered
to improve the blood pressure, and antibiotics are used to
kill the bacteria and to decrease production of the toxins
