1. Capstone Project Essay
My current capstone project consists the development of an unmanned aerial drone (quadcopter) that
will be used for research purposes. Current design and development is taken from an online resource
being an instructable from instructable.com. The quadcopter is currently designed using 3D printed
parts, shaft arrows, and off the shelf electronics such as motors, electronic speed controller,
transceiver, flight controller parts. Current development of the instructable has been already
produced using exact instructions and parts. Further development was to experiment with different
3D printed materials such as Kevlar, carbon fiber, and ABS plastic. Furthermore, my project will be

So far as mentioned, an instructable drone has been produced using different 3D materials. In the
process, research has been done on different types of drones, different types of materials used in 3D
printing, different electronics to use on the drone, and different payloads that could be utilized to go
on the drone.
The use of autonomous and robotic systems (drones, hexapod, and rovers), will be implemented to
do research on radiation contamination levels on the Navajo Reservation in New Mexico.
Accordingly, uranium (U) mining occurred on the Navajo Reservation for over 40 years
(1944–1986) where over 30 million tons were extracted on Navajo Territory. To clarify, uranium is a
metal element found in different parts of the universe, having the characteristics of nuclear energy
that emits radiation. However, due to the slow process of radioactive decay, radiation contamination
is harmful to the environment, and the general population when in contact causing harmful
life–threatening illnesses. In addition, radioactive decay lasts for several years, to billions of years.
Consequently, contamination has left over 500 abandoned mines, homes, and drinking water with
elevated levels of radiation on the Navajo Reservation. In contrast, contamination results in lung
cancer, bone cancer, and impaired kidney function from exposure in radionuclides in drinking water.

As a result, we decided that we needed to pick a business strategy and stick with it to develop in
key markets and create success with all having the same goal in mind. Once we keyed in on that
and made our decisions based on our own calculation and predictions, we started to see greater
results. Most businesses do not get a practice round to see if they will make it in the business
world as we did before we actually began and get a clean slate to try again. In reality, if we would
have had a failed business venture, it would have resulted in a huge loss and we would have
learned from our mistakes and had to invest more money on another attempt. Luckily, that was not
the case, and we were able to make more analyzed decisions and complete the simulation quite
successfully. The overwhelming part of the simulation was the time it took in making the decisions,
when you have three CEO's who think very differently. Once we realized the decisions actually do
need to be thought out and discussed, which took typically three to four hours of our own time
outside class, we started to see results. In the beginning, we really underestimated the amount of
time was needed to make educated decisions. Also, I felt just as we got the hang of the project and

Prior taking this RETELL class I thought differentiating meant "dummying down" work. I struggled
with the concept of differentiating strategies because I thought it help students to be all they can be.
Taking the class have given a clear understanding the meaning and the usage of differentiating
teaching, matter of fact, some the strategies I use in class are similar to some of the strategies taught
in the RETELL class. I realized that Differentiated instruction is about using teaching strategies that
connect with individual student's learning strategies. The ultimate goal is to provide a learning
environment that will maximize the potential for student success. The important thing to remember
is to hold on to the effective teaching strategies that lead students to positive learning outcomes and
to make adjustments when necessary. It's about being flexible and open to change. It's also about
taking risks and trying teaching and learning strategies that you would have otherwise ignored. It's
about managing instructional time in a way that meets the standards and also provides motivating,
challenging, and meaningful experiences for school age
